The vehicle dies after filling it up with fuel. it has now happened to us multiple times, from what i have been reading it has been happening to lots of other people with jeeps/chryslers as well
After filling fuel tank the car starts fine but then the engine stalls multiple times in the first 3-5 miles. this is hazardous since it often happens when pulling into traffic leaving the gas station. it seems to go away and the car runs fine after several miles of driving and stalling as i slow down for stop lights or stop signs. i recently bought this jeep and this has happened several times after fillups. i just googled the problem and found it is a common issue. i thought it would be good to add my information to the list. i have done nothing to try to solve the problem at this point.
Have not been notified of any recalls and when i called the dealer they said i didnt have any recalls but when i check in the date base it said i had two recalls; i would like to get notified of the recalls by a dealership.
At interstate speed the jeep accelerates unexpectedly as if the throttle is pressed to the floor. this is the third time this has happened. accelerates to 80 miles per hour almost instantly.
My car caught on fire last night, fire department was unable to confirm source of fire. i researched jeep liberty 2004 recalls and found on june 12,2012 the office of defects investigation (odi) of the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) opened (ea) 12-005 to investigate an alleged safety related defects concerning fuel tank system integrity for jeep my 1993-2007 for , which included numerous fire. on 1/16/2017 my jeep liberty caught on fire, in the snow. car was stationary, had only driven 2 blocks, got stuck in the snow, revved up the engine and smoke began coming out the hood. car completely combusted in flames,
Fuel tank straps rotted & broke off
I bought the car used after i've been hit in the back from somebody and i no longer had my subaru or the money to buy another subaru so i was stuck buying this car in the meantime and the windows work but only for a little bit 6 hours after i bought the car the engine light turned on course it didn't have any transmission fluid so i put some in but one window dropped had to pull it out and now the driver door does completely will not roll up or rolled down and then i see that they have done some work to it because i didn't notice when i bought it that the door has power they have opened it another issue is that i washed my car when i call the person that bought it was a little small dealership i stated that i washed the car he stated to me to me "you washed the car?" i said yes i didn't ask any questions however the next day the front left headlight went out and it cost me $15 so not sure what else i can do it appears that there was a recall there is a recall on the fuel tanker what not they can catch fire i would like the recall to be repaired also i should have noticed that the car occasionally randomly feel like it's fishtailing while i'm driving i was struck by a vehicle on the freeway while i was walking after my jeep grand cherokee that i had prior to my subaru completely died on the middle of the freeway i began to walk to the call box when i was struck by a car so i have to have a safe car i am a single mother and grandmother thank you for your attention in this matter. *tr
I was approaching the onramp,& as i turned on i heard a noise. thinking i had a flat i immediately pulled off to check my tires upon rounding the rear of my vehicle i saw liquid on the ground upon backing up a step i could see it was my gas tank with the broken brackets. i thank god there were no sparks & that i was not yet @ speed on the interstate. i was terrified as to how close to death i possibly was. then i find out here that it had happened 1 other time (that's reported here) but not to the manufacturer. now i'm out of my vehicle while being repaired and out of work till it's fixed. this should never have to come out of my pocket but will because of negligence. i only wish i had though to take pictures before it was loaded & towed to the garage.

I just purchased the car and found that the car has an outstanding recall. it is chrysler recall #n46 or nhtsa #13v-252. which is related to potential fire from rear end collision. i just called jeep chrysler at 5130 nesconsett hwy, port jefferson station, ny 11776. they indicated to me that there is a 6 month waiting period in order to get the car in to fix the recalled item. i think that is an unreasonable amount of time to have to wait to fix this potentially disastrous issue. is this ok? i would like to be able to get this done much sooner as i fear for my family's safety. *tr

Chrysler sent me a letter informing me of recall n46. i am seeking reimbursement for an oem hitch that i had installed prior to the recall. i have spoken to chrysler many times over the last 2 years and followed their instructions for inspection and submission of documentation for the oem hitch. i have a case # from chrysler. despite repeated promises to call me and /or process the refund, i have had no contact from chrysler. my latest attempt to contact them was 1/20/15, at which point i was told i would be contacted within a week. what do i have to do to get the refund? *tr

The gas consistently overflows in this vehicle when filling up the tank. it's like there is no safety stop to keep the gas from filling. it ends up gushing all over the side of the vehicle and the ground when i try to fill up the tank. i never let the tank fill automatically at the pump. i watch the gallons meter as i'm pumping the gas to estimate when to stop pumping gas but it is still very unpredictable. even the interior of the vehicle smells like gasoline when this happens. *tr
Chrysler had a recall on this jeep over fuel tank fires, i took the car to a local jeep dealer twice (jeep chrysler dodge city, 631 west putnam ave, greenwich, ct 06830 on oct 25th and nov 17th) (i made appointment at least two weeks earlier in both times), but were told there are no parts available for the recall. *tr

My complaint is with the chrysler recall n46/nhsta 13v-252. i received two (2) recalls -one last dec. 2013 and in august 2014 for the rear structure reinforcement. i called 2jeep/chrysler dealers and was told that they were only provided 5 trailer hitches and had a waiting list of 55. i was told to call back in mid-september. this recall is a joke. i called chrysler recall asst. center and spoke with taylor and was told that the trailer hitches were still being manufactured and that the hitches and subsequent repairs should be done within two (2) years. this is unacceptable. i was told when i got the first recall notice to wait for the second that the parts would be available and they are not. i believe chrysler is not acting in good faith to its customers and has no intention of replacing the recalled items. i believe that they are just waiting for the jeeps in question to disappear and go to junk yards. they have no intention in fixing the problem. the problem with the rear structure reinforcement is just too expensive for them to fix. i feel right now that the end result of this recall that only 10% of the jeeps in question will actually be repaired. i have never gone through such a long, deceitful recall before. i have zero faith in chrysler doing the right thing without another governmental court order. *tr

On the 18th of january of 2014, i was driving back home on a rural road where the speed limit is 25mph and i was driving around 15 mph because the road doesn't have an adequate pavement, where there is alot of pot holes. my 2004 jeep liberty on a small hill, came to a sudden stop shutting all the system which turned the vehicle off. i attempted to turn the car back on, by turning the switch and it wouldn't turn on. i waited approximately 3 minutes when i saw a thick black smoke coming from the hood. i attempted to react quickly and saw that the doors were closed shut. i forced the door to open and ran quickly to the front of the vehicle. i lifted the hood and it was steaming hot that it burned my fingers, i then opened the hood and witnessed that the vehicle's motor was completely in smoke. i began to car 911 and stepped aside when flames started to come out from the motor. in less than 8 minutes the car was completely in fire. both police and fire department assisted me during this tragic event. i have both reports to evidence the events that had occurred. i have attempted various times to contact chrysler within my local area and have not received any return call from them, while they have indicated that they will send a inspector to verify the vehicle, i left all of my personal details and am still waiting for their visit. i have been waiting and i have continued to call them in effort to have an inspector to verify my loss knowing that the car is still within the vehicle guaranteed, still i have not received any response after a two months of the incident. here, i have not only suffered from material loss but also chrysler in my area does not demonstrate corporate responsibility nor customer satisfaction or concern for their state of being. *tr

Safety recall n46/nhtsa 13v-252: safety recall notice was received by mail in january 2014, contacted dealership as directed to schedule an appointment. dealership said they had no parts and had no idea when they would receive the parts. called the chrysler group recall assistance center on may 5, 2014. was told that chrysler still had no parts available applicable to this recall. furthermore, and even more concerning, there is no projected time-table for distributing the appropriate parts to dealerships. this recall was originally issued june 19, 2013. i do not feel that an entire year or more is an appropriate time frame to remedy this defect without charge and within a reasonable amount of time, especially for a defect that can cause fuel leaks and possible fires from a rear end collision. our household has two 2004 jeeps that are affected by this recall. when can we expect a resolution from chrysler? what are the regulations for completing safety recalls? *tr
