Recently reported AIR BAGS problems on 2003 Jeep Liberty

While driving the car, the airbag warning light came on for 15 seconds, then went off for 15 seconds, then flashed back on and off following that timing sequence for about 10 minutes. after 10 minutes, the light stayed off. i called chrysler because i had received a recall notice in january 2013 about faulty air bags in this model, which could inadvertently deploy while the car was in motion. the representative told me that the part needed is a harness, however, the part is not yet available. she told me there is nothing i can do to fix the problem until the part is created. i was also told that there have been no incidents of airbags deploying inadvertently, but there is a risk it can happen, therefore the recall. however this is extraordinarily dangerous and the fact that chrysler has no date for when the part will be available is unacceptable. *tr

While driving for approximately five minutes the air bag light illuminated for the following ten minutes then turned off. when i next drove the car for approximately fifteen minutes the air bag light re-illuminated for approximately five minutes then turned off again. had the car checked with an onboard diagnostics device, which did not indicate any problem. *tr

I was passenger, my husband [xxx] was driving. airbag light came on and chimed for a couple of seconds, then suddenly the driver's side airbag deployed, bruising [xxx]' arm and hurting his neck and shoulder. more than a week later, i still cannot get anyone from chrysler/jeep to tell me what is going on. they finally had an inspector look at it today, but he said it could be 10-12 days before i get a response. i keep following up with chrysler by phone, but they will not tell me anything other than that they are investigating it. they did tell me not to drive the vehicle, leaving us with no vehicle and no rental or any type of resolve has been offered. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*tr

I received a notice of an air bag recall several months ago. along with that notice it read the parts to fix the problem were not available. i still have not received an update that the parts are available are when they would be? my concern is the air bag problem, and also that i have not received any follow up notice. *tr

I received a safety recall notice earlier in the year. i believe it was sometime in march 2013. the recall was about an air bag system occupant restraint control (orc). again, i received this recall notice in october 2013. i have called the jeep dealer, [xxx] located on west market street in pottsville pa 17901 three times about this and have been told each time that the part is backordered and they will call me when the part comes in. the last call i made to them was on december 5, 2013 and was still told it was on backorder. when will this part be available as my airbag warning light has been turning on & off at different times over the last year? i want to get this fixed and wanted to know why this part is taking so long to be available. Received recall notice for occupant restraint control module that needs to be replaced to prevent inadvertent deployment of air bag. contacted dealership, [xxx], grandville, mi on 2-28-2013 and was informed they did not have parts for repair. as of 6-12-2013, they still do not have parts needed and don't know when they will be available. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Airbag indicator light comes on when vehicle is started, and stays on for approximately 30 mins. the majority of the roads near me are 45mph or above, and with the high rollover rate of suv's i don't feel remotely safe knowing that at any minute my airbag can go off. i shouldn't have to feel like i'm driving a ticking time bomb of a death box. at this point i feel i don't even want the vehicle anymore and am thinking about trading it off, but i feel like chrysler should compensate me and other jeep liberty owners for having to do so. *tr

Received a recall notice from chrysler, in january, that airbag recall because air bag could deploy because of a defect at any time. if the light blinks it will deploy and that this would be fixed as soon as parts were available. 4 months later spoke to chrysler and they still don't have parts available. what can be done to get this resolved? *tr

I received a recall notice around the first of this year regarding my defective air bag sensor. i called and was told that the part was not available and i would be notified when it became available. i called again on may 6, 2013 asking again whether the part was available, and again told no. now, it is going on 6 months since i've heard anything and my car will not pass inspection because of this. now i have a rejection sticker on my car and i have no car to get back and forth to work and no one will help me with this. *tr

I bought my jeep off of my grandparents in october. its a really nice jeep, only has 69,000 miles. that's good for an 03. every car has its problems im sure. but mines on recall. i have had the airbag light come on and go off. and i comes on whenever it wants to. and it scares me because if the airbags go off, not only will i be mad, but you can bet, ill prob raise hell. because i don't fell save driving a car that has the potential to have the airbags go off. also i have noticed that the power lock on the drivers side works when i wants to. like i have to hit it a couple times to get it to work. not such a big deal. also the cd player doesn't work. like i've change all the fuses to try and get the door lock/cdplayer to work. and nothing changed. it make a really loud and annoying noise after the cd plays for awhile. that i don't car about. also one day i got in my jeep. i don't know how because the door was shut and locked, but on the drivers side, on the inside of the door. was nothing but ice. the door still opened and closed, no problem but, it looked like somebody took a gallon of water and dumped in down the inside of my door and it froze over. and that's the problems i've noticed with it. the only thing i care about is the whole air bag thing. i have received notice that it will be fixed, but will it be fixed for good. because i don't feel safe driving around and doing my daily things, knowing that i, or my family, or friends could get hurt from the airbags going off. so i hope that whatever the company is doing to fix it works, because everyday i get in my jeep, that's the only thing that is going threw my head. thanks *tr

Air bag light is on. safety recall notice m35 issued. manufacturer/dealer has failed to remedy this defect in a reasonable amount of time. currently, there is no eta on when parts will be available. this is a serious defect as the air bags deploy while the car is in motion causing the vehicle to crash. *tr

The occupant restraint control (orc) module has a chance of experiencing an electrical overstress condition. part has not been shipped to my dealer as of 7/29/2013. m35/nhtsa 12v-527 notified close to 6 months ago. *tr

I received a recall notice for the airbag system occupant restraint control module m35/nhtsa 12v-527. i immediately called the dealership and got my name on the list, they said i was 3rd in line. it has been months now and no word on when they will get the parts. in the mean time there has been another recall regarding the gas tank. really don't want to drive the vehicle but have no choice. please try to get any answer to ease my mind. *tr

While driving the vehicle the airbag indicator light began to flash and an audible alarm sounded. now i am concerned that our vehicle has same defect with the airbags inadvertently inflating as being investigated by the nhtsa. the vehicle airbag system has never been deployed or serviced or replaced. *tr

The airbag control module recall was publicized in november of 2012 (safety recall m35/nhtsa 12v-527). as of today, 7/23/2013, the dealer still has not received the corrective parts. an 8 month delay in correcting a defect that has the potential to cause injury or death goes beyond negligence. *tr

In november 2012 i received a safety recall, m35/nhtsa 12v-527. states that there is a possibility of the airbags deploying. at the time of the notification chrysler stated that the parts required to do the repair were not available and when they were there would be a follow up recall notice. it has been over 6 months and i have still not heard anything more from them. *tr

This is my second complaint regarding the recall on my jeep liberty 2003. the airbag light started coming on while i was driving. it would later go off. sometimes it comes on while driving at a steady speed. other times it comes on while the vehicle is stopped at a light. braking does not seem to have an impact on it. i first reported this to the dealer in november 2012. they said not to worry. i received the first recall notice in march 2013 and a second one arrived the first week of october 2013. to date i have made multiple phone calls to the local jeep dealer service department as well as 3 visits. at one visit they finally actually looked at the car and confirmed it needs to be fixed. today i spoke with the chrysler recall group assistance 800 number. first they agreed to help me get the dealer to honor the recall. however, by the end of the call i was told that chrysler still does not have the part needed to fix my vehicle. i was also told that chrysler does not see this as a high risk. now i am certain that there are higher risks out there and i understand that corporations "play the numbers" when they decide what to do. but in the long run, if my air bag deploys unexpectedly while i am driving on the expressway at 75 mph i, my passengers, and surrounding motorists are the ones who will pay the price of this decision. keep in mind that it has already been confirmed by the local chrysler service department that my air bag is defective. it could deploy without warning at any time that i am driving. it is not related to braking, speed, distance traveled, or anything that i can pinpoint. *tr

A recall was issued for defective airbags that could cause the airbags to deploy without warning. the case number is 12v527000 this was issued almost 8 months ago and still the part to fix the problem is not available. this needs to be looked into. this is ridiculous. it should not take this long for an automobile company that manufactures parts to produce these parts. *tr

While traveling eastbound the car in front of me stopped all of sudden due to car in front of them changing direction from turning to going straight. i crashed into the rear of the car in front of me. my jeep has extensive damage. the airbags did not deploy. my passenger and myself had head injuries and knee injuries had the airbags deployed there wouldn't have been no injuries. something needs to be recalled about this problem. *tr

My airbag light came on back in june. after reading about the un-intentional deployments i went to the dealer and ultimately had the passenger airbag replaced (in july). a week later the airbag light came on again (i have picture on phone). i took the vehicle back to the dealership and the dealer (of course light was off by then). dealer claimed no fault code was on computer and could not find issue (although i did show them iphone pic). light did stay off in aug/sept but within the past week the light has begun illuminating, staying on for a while, turning off for a while, and coming back on. the vehicle is garage kept at night but the temp has gotten cooler within the last couple weeks. not sure what to do except set the seat back a little more and cringe a bit. i wonder how loud an airbag deployment is? vehicle has approx. 31,700 miles. *tr
