. i have a 2003 jeep liberty renegade which i've had since 2004. since that time, i've had the rear window repaired at least 6 times for the same issue. the problem is that the window will fail ' weather you use it or not ' eventually and fall into the door frame. i've had this happen when parked, when using the window or just driving on the highway. it happened a few days ago again because my wife rolled the rear window down by accident (i haven't used either rear window since the last repair done a few years ago!).
Rear swing gate doesn't open - whether using key fob or unlocking from front, glass window open but swing gate will click but not open up.
Back passenger window pump went out around 80,000 miles- was not replaced because the price to fix was quoted for at least $600; back driver's side window pump went out at 105,000 miles - prices have seemed to come down for repairs and am looking to get it replaced but it seems soon to have to replace this
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep liberty. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v046000 (air bags, electrical system) however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not notified of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.
My vehicle was being drivin on smooth open highway . the child in the back seat requested the back window be rolled up . this driver proceeded to depress button that controls the operation of the window in the back seat up or down and when doing so the window did not close all the way shut. this driver stopped to get gas and tried the switch once again . the window would still not close all the way . when window was touched at the top , it felt loose and easily slid down into the door and no longer worked to close at all. diagnosis was made at a professional dealer quoting $300 claiming that the regulatory switch was broken .upon calling chrysler with complaint , my response was that this problem is at my expense because a- the vehicle is older and the previous owner could have caused this problem . i strongly disagree that the age and number of owners of a vehicle warrants denial of recall and replace or the regulatory switch .this is a continual problem and hundreds of other persons have complained the same problem. chrysler used cheap parts meant to break with no regard for its customers whatsoever. in my case children were in the vehicle back seat and this problem does impose a safety risk to children as well as financial burden on the customer. chrysler is aware of this problem because they have remade regulatory switch and motor better built ony want customers to buy it . regulatory switch should be recalled and re installed just like the hitch was , ts is no different a child is put at risk !
Engine failure..engine will not run.an electrical overload causes main fuses to blow.the jeep has been with a jeep dealer for thirty days..with no solution in sight.

Airbag light came on while driving to work. researched online and saw this has happened in other jeeps. *tr
Either beginning of the this year or last month of last year, i received a letter from chrysler about a recall on my vehicle for the air bag, so before i turn in the my truck for service the air bag light don't come on at all, but after they fixed the recall issues, few months later my air bag light keep coming on and stay on, so i call the chrysler dealer who fixed my truck and there reply is that is not our problem that the airbag light come on when you drive. so here my question if the recall was call for the airbags in my truck why my airbag light now is coming on when i drive my truck, are they suppose to fixed the airbag or what, don't understand about the recall for the airbag but my light for the airbag is on.. so please help me to understand what should i do, now i afraid to drive my truck when i go to work.. so now every time i turn on my signal my dome light comes on and stay on for good 5 mins.. *tr
I bought some fuses for my jeep and all eight of them blew as soon as i put them in number 15 blue so i now have no back light or blinkers or hazards lights. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep liberty. the contact was able to remove the key from the ignition while the vehicle was started. the failure occurred for six months. an independent mechanic stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 191,000. updated 10/09/14*lj the consumer stated the key would also not turn when attempting to start the vehicle. updated 3/26/2015 *js
The key doesn't lock into the ignition switch and can be removed or fall out during driving. when turning it off, it can be put in into aux instead and key removed, which can lead to a dead battery. *tr
Just got another recall notice..safety recall..m35/nhtsa 12v-527 occupant restraint control module filter circuit this is one of many recalls..with no parts available..how many recalls will it take to recall this dangerous chrysler.. how many accidents, deaths..money spent for a lemon..tell dan reed..i have notified the proper higher ups..maybe they can handle this..since your dept. cannot. *js
We have made several attempts to have the recall repaired with union city, georgia at (770) 969-7229. we spoke with don jackson. each time, we were told the parts were not in and we would receive a call as soon as the parts come in. we never received a call back. we called again and again. each time, we are told the part is not in and we are promised a call back. would you kindly help. *tr
Ignition switch would not command the starter. *tr
My vehicle has a recall on the air bags and the vehicle can not be corrected. i was told the jeep dealerships do not have the parts to fix it. also, the pcm component of my vehicle needs to be replaced and the chrysler dealership has discontinued the part, an aftermarket part can not be found and none are on back order. my vehicle is still under warranty and the warranty department is sending the pcm to have the part refurbished but will not guarantee the part. my concern is the cars safety is not guaranteed due to the recall on airbags and the pcm is the main computer part for the car, if it can not be guaranteed to be safe and running what are my options? *tt
While driving the car, the airbag warning light came on for 15 seconds, then went off for 15 seconds, then flashed back on and off following that timing sequence for about 10 minutes. after 10 minutes, the light stayed off. i called chrysler because i had received a recall notice in january 2013 about faulty air bags in this model, which could inadvertently deploy while the car was in motion. the representative told me that the part needed is a harness, however, the part is not yet available. she told me there is nothing i can do to fix the problem until the part is created. i was also told that there have been no incidents of airbags deploying inadvertently, but there is a risk it can happen, therefore the recall. however this is extraordinarily dangerous and the fact that chrysler has no date for when the part will be available is unacceptable. *tr
My wife was entering an on-ramp and increasing speed. the jeep liberty completed died and the steering and brakes were not workable. this is the 10th time this has happened. also, the airbag light continues to come on. we've had the jeep into the dealership approximately 6 times and they have never been able to identify the issue. i recently contacted chrysler and complained and they set me up with the service department again. this is a major safety issue and we are worried for our lives while driving the jeep.
Two of the rear windows have failed. both of them dropped for no apparent reason and would not work to close them. one of the failed in 3/2013 and the other one failed today while i was driving 60 mph on the freeway. i know that jeep has had many complaints regarding the failure of their windows. i know that it is going to cost at lease $300 to repair each window. i have not been able to afford to repair the first failed window. i have had to use duct tape over and over to try and keep it closed. now the second window has failed and is trapped inside the door frame. jeep needs to recall these defective windows. *tr
Received recall notice for occupant restraint control module that needs to be replaced to prevent inadvertent deployment of air bag. contacted dealership, [xxx], grandville, mi on 2-28-2013 and was informed they did not have parts for repair. as of 6-12-2013, they still do not have parts needed and don't know when they will be available. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the windshield began to crack without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the failure was due to a pressure issue between the seal and the window. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage was unknown. updated 12/16/14*lj
I bought my jeep off of my grandparents in october. its a really nice jeep, only has 69,000 miles. that's good for an 03. every car has its problems im sure. but mines on recall. i have had the airbag light come on and go off. and i comes on whenever it wants to. and it scares me because if the airbags go off, not only will i be mad, but you can bet, ill prob raise hell. because i don't fell save driving a car that has the potential to have the airbags go off. also i have noticed that the power lock on the drivers side works when i wants to. like i have to hit it a couple times to get it to work. not such a big deal. also the cd player doesn't work. like i've change all the fuses to try and get the door lock/cdplayer to work. and nothing changed. it make a really loud and annoying noise after the cd plays for awhile. that i don't car about. also one day i got in my jeep. i don't know how because the door was shut and locked, but on the drivers side, on the inside of the door. was nothing but ice. the door still opened and closed, no problem but, it looked like somebody took a gallon of water and dumped in down the inside of my door and it froze over. and that's the problems i've noticed with it. the only thing i care about is the whole air bag thing. i have received notice that it will be fixed, but will it be fixed for good. because i don't feel safe driving around and doing my daily things, knowing that i, or my family, or friends could get hurt from the airbags going off. so i hope that whatever the company is doing to fix it works, because everyday i get in my jeep, that's the only thing that is going threw my head. thanks *tr
The occupant restraint control (orc) module has a chance of experiencing an electrical overstress condition. part has not been shipped to my dealer as of 7/29/2013. m35/nhtsa 12v-527 notified close to 6 months ago. *tr
At times over past couple years, vehicle has randomly stalled while driving, but then restarted. in december 2012 battery light came on, lights on dash/console dimmed, went off and on etc. vehicle stalled and would not restart. was in garage through january. mechanic has on computer, everything tested ok. checked alternator, battery etc. all ok. we picked vehicle up in january as was running for mechanic. drove home. husband next day tried to start and it wouldn't start. needed jumped, but all lights on dash going on and off etc and stalled again and wouldn't start. back to mechanic. just picked vehicle up again (mechanic has had since january). as soon as leaving mechanic, battery light came on. before we got to drive way, all dash lights went out and when stopped at stop sign, shut off and wouldn't restart. had to be jumped. got it to drive way, and will not restart again. *tr
While driving headlights momentarily shut off . there is a click under the dash, and they go off when on low beam, if on high beam they switch to low beam. had this problem occur several times. my mechanic is un able to find the problem, and from checking with other liberty owners this is a recurring issue.it is not only annoying but extremely dangerous. *tr
While driving with the ac on and without stopping, the battery indicator light turned on. the battery light went out when vehicle was stopped and/or idling. all information steers towards the pcm module and not the battery or alternator. *tr
Driving at night when i heard clicking noises near fuse panel left side of steering wheel column; shortly thereafter headlights flashed on and off for approximately 10 seconds. problem became intermittent but usually occurred while driving at night. clicking noises persist near fuse panel and headlights flash off and on. dealership unable to duplicate problem as they said they have not heard of this particular problem, but they tried swapping headlamp relay with driver's door lock relay. however, this solution did not fix the problem. in fact, clicking noises are now heard every time i drive my jeep, and the headlights continue to randomly flash on and off. the problem now occurs during the day with headlights on as well as at night.this problem has not yet caused an accident, but driving at night with random flashing headlights creates a safety problem with my visibility and other vehicles on the road. another area of concern deals with the potential responses from other drivers that believe i am flashing them for an aggressive reason. i found online discussions from others jeep owners experiencing the same problem, but i have not been able to locate how to fix the problem. random flashing headlights, out of the control of the driver, presents a huge safety risk and should be investigated. *tr
All lights on veh flickered off for about 1-2 sec turned on and then quick flicker then on again and remained on. the first time i thought it was a fluke then it occurred a total of 3 other times within the year. last was just recently 1/20/2013 and it shut off for a longer period of time maybe 3-4 sec. i was distance traveling on a high traffic highway at night and now see the safety concerns. since the first occurrence i have replaced the battery. the entire light panel inside the vehicle as well as the exterior lights are affected. other issues i have experienced since owning the veh in 2002 is the side passenger power lock no longer functions, still does not function. i have had to replace the passenger rear window regulator. in 2007, the glass just fell down one day did not break. placed a stick in door panel to hold up glass and finally replaced it in 2011. *tr
My key will not turn in the ignition of the 2003 jeep liberty. the steering column was not locked and i tried for about 20 minutes to jiggle/turn the wheel, jiggle the automatic transmission shifter, etc. the key was inserted fully because electrical came on to alert me that the key was in the ignition (when i opened the driver door the warning beeps came on to signify key still in ignition). the ignition simply would not turn. i had to have my car towed to a mechanic and have since learned from online research that this is a very common problem with jeep liberty's and many chrysler products. the solutions seem to be patchwork workarounds that people have come up with independent of chrysler's help. *tt
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep liberty. the contact attempted to start the vehicle but the key would not turn in the ignition. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the contact was advised that the steering column, ignition switch and lock cylinder needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 53,000.
Headlights go off & on while driving, accompanied by relay clicking noise. *tr
Headlights go out and hear clicking noise. this is a dangerous flaw. this is intermittent and the dealer can not seem to find the problem. in doing research there is a large history of this exact problem on the jeeps from years 2002-2004. the lights finally came on but on a dark curvey hill with cliffs could have caused a injury or fatal crash. *tr
When driving at night, the headlights and fog lights turned on and off every couple of seconds. i have duplicated the scenario on multiple occasions. headlights work fine without the fog lights on. when fog lights are turned on, headlights and fog lights turn on/off. i have not used fog lights after a few attempts. mechanics can not duplicate scenario. they say it may happen only while vehicle is in motion. *tr
Ever since my issue with the headlights and foglights turning on/off began, i have a constant relay clicking noise to the left side of my steering wheel and my idling rpm's dropped. *tr
After buying the car as jeep liberty renegade 2003 used at about 40,000 miles. the second time i drove the car on the interstate the car started stalling and running very rough. i limped in for about 15 miles to the repair shop and problem was diagnosed as a faulty crank sensor. that was replaced and car ran fine for 4 years. now with 66000 miles the car stall while driving at low speed. restarted and took car in and problem was diagnosed as a faulty crank sensor again, but part had to be ordered and car was running fine. so i decided to drive car while waiting for the part and next day the car would not start. when tow truck arrived car stated fine but had car towed to repair shop. the sensor was replaced but the shop still was having periodic stalling problem. it was finally diagnosed as a faulty cam shaft sensor which was replaced and now the car is running fine. looks like jeep has a problem with the sensors in the jeep renegade model. *tr
While driving my 2003 jeep liberty sport, i heard a loud and distracting thud, only to discover that the back window on the drivers side had fallen into the door. the door also became jammed and i was unable to open it from either the inside or outside of the vehicle. this happened to the other back widow just 9 months prior to this incident. at that time i took my vehicle to an auto repair shop, and paid to have it fixed.i have read several complaints about this happening in the jeep liberty. the issue is a cheap, plastic part used in the window regulator. this is a design flaw, and chrysler will only replace this part with another cheap plastic part, rather than using a sturdier metal part. this is an expense issue as well as a safety issue. the noise the window makes when it falls is very distracting. all the doors and windows should be functioning properly in case of emergencies, and the driver should be able to control the windows, in order to avoid dangerous debris flying into the car, not to mention having some control over outside elements. (weather) chrysler really should do a recall, and stop charging jeep owners to fix what is their fault in the first place-it is a design flaw in the jeep liberty. many reports from jeep owners mention this happening to the same window, or multiple windows over and over. there ought to be a class action lawsuit against chrysler. *tr
While driving headlights turn on & off intermittently without any action from the driver. this is a dangerous situation when it happens, frequency varies from daily to once a week. another (related?) action started happening at the same time, also intermittent engine will shut off while driving. engine will usually restart but not idle without holding the gas pedal down. after turning off and waiting a short time the engine will start and idle fine for a matter of minutes or days. *tr
2003 jeep liberty. engine stalls while driving and many electrical problems. have notified you before and just notified gma after seeing jeep tanks blow. updated 06/14/11 *bf updated ivoq 06/15/11 *tr
Our vehicle began stalling out while driving on a main road. we pulled over and the vehicle would not start. when attempting to start it again white smoke began coming out. i called a tow truck to get us home. it was sitting in the main road and i had my children with me. the malfunction indicator light came on. the car started up again. we took it to autozone and the crank sensor showed up. i bought a crank sensor and took it to fuccillos in adams ny. they replaced it and said that the crank sensor was seized into the engine. when it was done i picked it up but the same issues began. they did a diagnostic which showed another faulty crank sensor, a cam sensor and there was gas in our oil. then i was told 3 ignition coils were melted. then i was told another coil was bad. chrysler said that when there is an issue with your crank or cam that the coils will remain hot even when the car is off. looking on line, many people have the same issues-some have the same issues over and over again. i called to ask if there was a recall but was told not of yet. *tr
2003 jeep liberty renegade. can put the key in and turn, but car will not start. seems to be a common problem amongst jeep liberty owners, as i have seen many posts online with the same problem. apparantly a component of the steering column that connects to the ignition switch is defected. jeep should absolutely address this issue and issue a recall. *tr
Was driving down the road and suddenly lost power. had to be towed to garage and was told that the crank shaft sensor and cam shaft position sensors were both gone and had to be replaced. jeep liberty sport 2003 only has 61000 miles on it. *tr
On several occasions my car has stalled. prior to it stalling it would have power surges, backfire, the rpm needle would go crazy, and then just shut off loosing all power to brakes and steering. stalling would occur mostly at lower rates of speeds (under 50mph). it wouldn't turnover immediately. i would have to wait 20 to 25 seconds each time and then it would start, almost as if the system resets itself. it's pretty scary when you have to young children and your on a freeway and your car all of a sudden stalls. the second problem i'm having is a very loud noise coming from the rear end. i pointed my side mirror down towards my backtire. i watched as the rearend made a load cluncking noise and it was as if the back tire was being pushed outwards. the third problem is my passenger side rear window just dropped into the door. the motor still works i can hear it. and last but no least my left turn signal blinks extremely fast and then sometimes it doesn't. my car is currently at the jeep dealership. i think it's kind of funny that the guy wants to charge me $200 to investigate the problems i'm having to find out what it is. thanks to everyone's complaints i can call him and tell him the problems, as if he didn't already know. goodluck to everyone. *tr
Ignition locks up. key sometimes won't turn, sometimes will, but car will not start. key sometimes won't go all the way into the ignition slot. all fuses are fine, power on vehicle is fine. starter good, everything else checked out. steering wheel will not lock. car will not start. well-maintained, 2003 jeep liberty with 80,000 miles on it. *tr
