Passenger side headrest safety feature deployed at low speed. i was backing up in front of neighbor home on cul de sac.not involved in any collision or impact. this is on a 2015 jeep grand cherokee
The airbag light came on for no reason. it is a safety issue because airbags may not deploy in crash

Passenger seat head rest deployed for no reason. the vehicle was stationary over night in our garage. in the morning we discovered the deployed head rest
I was driving home from work today 9/29/19 on a two lane road and was traveling around 40mph coming up to a red light when all of the sudden the active headrest on the drivers side deployed striking me in the back of the head with enough force it felt like a punch, this caused me to swerve and nearly rear end the car stopping in front of me. i have done some quick research on this issue and notice this is not a current recall nor an isolated incident. in my case this could have been life threatening had i not been able to keep control of the vehicle.
Passenger seat head rest airbag deployed while vehicle was stopped at a light
The vehicle was stationary and unoccupied in the driveway when the driver seat's active head restraint popped open. it cannot be reset due to the damaged plastic. this is not supposed to activate until triggered by an accident and is an obvious design flaw.
While simply driving down the road my passenger side headrest just pops open. it seems the clips have broken. this should be a recall as i have spoken to many owners who have had the same issue. this is a safety issue and should be taken care of from the dealership and not cost $800.00 for something that is faulty.
Drivers side headrest airbag deployed on its own while driver not in vehicle and no impact to vehicle.
While in park in my driveway the passenger side active headrest deployed while a passenger was sitting in the seat. nothing hit my vehicle, i didn't hit anything and no other airbags deployed nor the driver side active headrest deployed. the instrument cluster does not show any indication of deployment and nothing in my vehicles information center display show any kind of event. the vehicle is at approximately 79,855 miles when the incident occurred. the vehicle also has never been in a major accident where any of the airbags or headrest have deployed before. upon inspection of the malfunction i noticed that a couple of small plastic pieces had broken away and were resting in the back cover of the headrest. i feel maybe this is the defective part of plastic that broke and made the headrest deploy.
Driving down the interstate when suddenly the driver's side active head restraint deployed and the headrest shot forward towards the back of my head. luckily, i was seated forward, looking in my mirrors to change lanes so it did not hit my head. taken to the jeep dealership and they stated that the plastic clips inside the headrest seemed to have broken and caused the headrest to deploy unexpectedly.
The passenger side active headrest restraint on my 2015 jeep grand cherokee deployed while parked in my garage unoccupied. i took the vehicle to a local chrysler dealer - they checked the computer and headrest and determined that the vehicle was not in an accident and a failed locking mechanism is what caused it to deploy. the dealer agreed to contact chrysler on my behalf for a resolution. i was told by the dealer that chrysler agreed to pay for half the cost of the repair - approximately $350. i agreed to pay the $350 only if they replaced both headrests which they declined. i am currently driving my vehicle with a defective headrest - hoping the second headrest does not fail also.

The air bag come on(service air bag)
The vehicle was parked, and suddenly the driver's front seat head restraint deployed for no reason with incredible force. the vehicle was parked with no insult to vehicle or reason for this to occur. i reported to local dealer and the headrest restraint cannot be reset. it requires a total replacement of the headrest that isn't covered under standard or extended warranty. the cost of the part to replace is $846.30 plus labor. this is a safety issue and seems to be a defect as the restraint deployed for no reason. the dealer offered no assistance with this issue.
The passenger seat head restraint system activated for no known reason while driving 70 mph on the interstate. the vehicle was not in any accident or no factors caused this. the head rest violently shot forward approx 6" if this would have been the drivers seat it would almost certainly caused the driver to loose control of the jeep

Dec 30, 2015 i was broadsided by a van in my drivers side door causing my vehicle to roll over several times before crashing head on into a sound wall. i was pinned in the vehicle upside down with my right leg pinned up under the dash. the side curtain airbag deployed at the moment of impact, how ever my drivers airbag and knee bolsters did not deploy causing me to impact the steering wheel with my sternum and smashing both knees into the dash which caused my right leg to be pinned up underneath the dash. the terrible pain i had to suffer and still to this day experience was the worst pain i have ever felt in my life. we complied with the safety recall we received regarding the airbags, but on 3 different occastions of taking the jeep into the dealership for warranty repairs they never performed the required safety recall repair. i was told that they were still waiting on the software program from chrysler. the dealership in which the jeep was purchased was: turlock chrysler dodge/jeep 1600 auto mall drive turlock, ca 95380 209/ 250-5800 purchase date: september 20, 2014 i was traveling westbound on briggsmore avenue doing 43 mph when i entered the intersection at rose avenue i was broadsided on my drive rside door by a lady who ran the red light doing approximately 40 mph causing me roll over a couple of times and spin out of control until i crashed head on (upside down) into a sound wall, then bounced off the wall and crashed again through the sound wall with the rear end of my vehicle finally coming to a stop, i was pinned in the vehicle, upside down and my right leg was pinned up under the dash. the drivers side curtain airbag deployed at impact, however none of the other airbags deployed causing me to fully impact my chest into the steering wheel, and smashed both of my knees into the knee bolster part of the dash, wedging my leg up underneath the dash

On august 15th 2015, i brought my vehicle in for a recall that i received in the mail, on the letter it states it is for orc module, so i went into the dealership ray brandt dodge, jeep on westbank expressway to have my recall taken care of, well prior to bringing in my car i called them twice to make an appointment to have my car serviced, they informed me that i did not need to make an appointment just to bring the vehicle in for the recall. i brought that car in the saturday of august 15th to be informed that i needed to make an appointment and they were backed up, i informed them that i had called twice to make sure i got my car taken care of and got this recall item taken care of, they could not service me and told me i had to make an appointment so i left with my car not being serviced and driving my vehicle with a known recall that i brought my car in for, on august 27th i had a car accident, ,my car is still not been serviced for this known recall code r05, and now i have had an accident in my car which has me shook since i know that there is a issue with my car. i am writing this complaint because i think it is horrible the way that dealership treated me and i could be in a different situation and not be able to write this complaint. i do not know if this will do or change anything but i thought it should be heard.
