Motor oil is leaking from the oil cooler/filter housing. oil has puddled in the engine valley and run down the back of the engine and transmission bell housing. vehicle smells like hot motor oil and oil level was low.
Oil cooler housing on my 3.6 l pentastar engine, which is made of plastic, has developed a crack causing motor oil to leak onto the engine and transmission. there could be a potential for a fire. dealer has these on back order. this part used to be made of metal on prior models and was not an issue. sounds to me that this part should be redesigned.
Went to start my car today, and there was a long crank but the car did not turn on. this happened 2 more times. finally, the third time during the long crank, i stepped on the accelerator and the engine finally turned on. during the whole thing, the dashboard was on, lights were on, and radio was on - so it was not a battery issue. there was no warnings on my dashboard and no lights turned on afterwards - as if everything was fine. i am worried because i have read multiple listings regarding cars stalling while in drive, or worsening of these symptoms. i know there has been a tpim recall contributing to faulty stalling - but 2014 model was not covered under the recall. if my car symptoms become progressively worse - i am afraid that my car will shut off while i am driving - placing me and others on the road in high risk for danger.
Steering wheel locked up while driving, was told by mechanic it is the electric power steering pump. also a week before the drivers headrest suddenly deployed while driving (jeep has never been into a car accident & i am the original owner to this 2014) was told it will be at least $2000 with all parts & labor. this is very serious and dangerous and i have read the steering wheel has locked up on hundreds of others while driving. the jeep did not turn off when the steering wheel locked up. while driving to get out of the road the engine revved up at 20 mph and the jeep did not want to go- had to switch into sport mode to continue to drive out of the road way and the engine revving calmed down. the head rest is broke and can not go into its regular position. did not get a price estimate on that yet. this should be fixed by jeep!!!
Having extended starting issues, sometimes car has to be turned off and then back on,have been to dealer 2 times ,purge valve was replaced ,with no change in extended start.vehicle is stationary.dealer seemed to be more interested in selling us other services unrelated to extended start such as coolant flush and tires ,spark plugs alignements which have already been completed before visit, this car appears to be under recall r09 , but dealer does not seem to think it is
Oil filter housing: between my two oil changes i noticed a small oil leak under my 2014 jeep grand cherokee limited 3.6l. i took it to the jeep dealership and i was informed the leakage was do to a bad "oil filter housing" and the part with repairs would be 799.99. i asked if this should be included under my 5 year / 100,000 warranty but they said the warranty expired on 10/24/2018 and today is 2/5/2019. i called chryler and they said there is nothing they can do and they cannot offer to cover the repair; it would be an "out of pocket expense". so i googled this issue and it appears this is a known issues in all the forums and threads i read. apparently chrysler changed this part from metal to plastic part for their 2014 models and later and now the part is failing all over the place. i registered a case number with chrysler but i probably should not post that in a public forum. i am hoping to eventually have this item as a recall item for 2014 and newer vehicles. the car was stationary and i first noticed the issue.
My 2014 jeep grand cherokee has stalled while driving 3 times; twice on the highway at speeds in excess of 60 mph, and once while making a right turn on a busy street. i push on the gas to accelerate the vehicle, and it stalls. all electrical is still on, but i have to stop the car, put it in park, then i can restart and continue. i was almost in a collision a few times because of the car stalling. there are no error codes or lights to indicate what the problem is. jeep is not trying to fix the issue and act as if they haven't heard of this before. dealerships "can't replicate the issue" so they just give the car back. it feels as if the car doesn't downshift properly (big jarring motion like you've been rear-ended) when trying to go up a hill, or pass a slower vehicle. dealership already replaced both fuel pumps, but didn't fix the problem.
I have a 2014 jeep grand cherokee srt. in the last year and a half, i have had to have the transfer case & rear end replaced. this is just uncalled for on a 4 year old car. it is currently sitting at the dealership (has been there for a week so far) to have the lifters/cam replaced. the parts from chrysler are so far on back order there's no hope of getting them. the aftermarket parts are also on back order. those 2 things tell me that this is a widespread malfunction with this engine & seems to me to be a design flaw.
Leak from the oil cooler housing on engine causing a pooling of oil making a fire hazard
Failure of a heater hose while driving caused excessive overheating which led to engine failure. dealer says that my extended warranty does not cover hoses therefore the cost of replacing the diesel engine is my responsibility. the cost is nearly $17,000. i would like an investigation into why the hose failed. was it due to damage caused during previous engine work?
[xxx] jeep grand cherokee laredo, [xxx] jeep grand cherokee laredo has formed a crack in the oil filter adapter. because of the location, design, and material, the part is prone to cracking and leaking (typically spurred by an oil change when the cap is screwed back onto the housing). this crack creates a slow leak of oil into the engine housing and below the vehicle. this oil leak can continue without obvious warning and if not corrected, could result in severe engine damage with the potential of malfunctioning while in use therefore posing a safety threat to the driver, passengers and other drivers. i have alerted jeep to the issue and i will note that i have spoke to several mechanics who have replaced several of these parts in this vehicle. it is a manufacturing design flaw and costing loyal customers and posing a danger on the roads. i have reported this information to jeep (or whomever they contract customer service to) and they documented my information but refused to correct the situation for myself (and others in the future) and told me to hold onto my repair information in case a recall takes place in the future. jeep should take accountability for this ever growing issue and recall this part immediately. please help me in ensuring they do the right thing for their customers and for the general public. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
While i was idling in a parking lot a coolant hose to my turbo split. this hose ( the size of your thumb) is under the intake manifold and is not accessible to check and maintain. seeing that this hose is a few inches from the turbo and even closer to the right engine bank, the heat is extreme. the hose is a rubber hose not unlike a lawn mower gas hose. if it wasn't for the smell of hot coolant and being stationary, the engine would of lost it's coolant without any signs. the maintenance portion of the owners manual assumes we can see and get at all coolant hoses. the turbo hose should last longer than the coolant that in it, on mine it was approximately 82,000 miles. a steel braded hose would be more appropriate in this location. attached is the portion of the owners manual and a picture of the new hose in place. to replace this hose the dealer had to drop the engine out of the truck and it took over 10 weeks to get it back.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving between 5-15 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost power without warning. the contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated after a beeping noise was heard inside the vehicle. the contact stated that the failures were intermittent and that the vehicle returned to normal, in most cases, after a period of time. duane lane's chrysler jeep dodge ram (10515 evergreen way, everett, washington 98204, (425) 953-1295) diagnosed that the surge canister underneath the hood was faulty due to an evaporation leak. the surge canister was replaced, but the failures recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Vehicle engine light came on - rear windshield wiper started even though switch was off, power steering failed and engine shutoff while driving on city street, horn beeping intermittently whether driving or not. several messages displayed for about 2 seconds -ecm lost communication and other msgs i couldn't get because they only flashed on the screen. keyfob battery low even though i just put in a new battery.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving various speeds, the service shifter warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to stockton dodge chrysler jeep ram (located at 3333 auto center cir, stockton, ca 95212, (209) 956-1920) to be diagnosed, but a failure code could not be located. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, while driving on the freeway, all the warning indicators on the instrument panel intermittently illuminated. the vehicle was taken to lodi chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 1255 beckman rd, lidi, ca 95240, (209) 263-3999) where thirteen codes were found, but not a failure code. all thirteen codes were reset. the vehicle was not repaired. also, while driving, the vehicle stalled, the check engine warning indicator illuminated, and the windshield wipers operated independently. the vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road and was towed back to lodi chrysler dodge jeep ram. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
Call stalled due to the failure of the alternator, which was subject to recall. the dealership refused to schedule an appointment, so i just dropped my car off at the dealership per chrysler corp. the dealership replaced the defective alternator and found that the battery needed to be replaced at a charge of 350 dollars. i informed the dealership that the message center on the car indicated that the car was entering "batter saver mode" as it shutdown. the manual for the vehicle indicates that the vehicle enters this mode when the battery is not being charged, the primary function of the alternator. i requested that the dealership replace the battery as its depletion was due to a faulty alternator, they declined. they stated that although the alternator was faulty it did not do any damage to the battery.
Constant cylinder 6 misfire. all 6 spark plugs have been replaced. coil and fuel injector replaced. still showing cylinder 6 misfire. seen cylinder head being replaced on years 2011-2013 but not for a 2014. this should be covered. when the check engine light came on, it had seizure like convulsions when coming to a stop and while in idle until spark plugs were replaced. still running rough, very shaking like it is going to stall out.
This incident regards the t-36 recall issued by fiat/chrysler, which involves 2012-2014 jeep grand cherokees (among others), and "affects vehicles equipped with electro-hydraulic power steering systems, 5.7l or 3.6l engines, and 160, 180, or 220 amp alternators. in those vehicles, nhtsa says that the alternator may fail without warning." during june 2018, my 2014 jeep grand cherokee (summit trim), experienced sudden alternator failure while in motion on a highway. the alternator started to smoke, and by the time i had reached my destination, there was grey smoke barreling out of the hood of my car and the battery was completely dead. the jeep had to be towed to a nearby dealership for repairs. in addition to the alternator and battery replacment, the tensioner, idler and serpentine belt had to be replaced due to undue strain placed on them by the alternator failure. the incident that occurred matches the description of the t-36 recall. additionally, the year, make, engine size, and amperage of the alternator all match the description given in the t-36 recall. however, the vin number for my particular jeep did not appear under the recall, and therefore, jeep/chrysler would not repair my jeep under that particular recall. they did fix the jeep, but at my cost (the owner). i 100% believe this an oversight by jeep/chrysler (or maybe nhtsa) and should be remedied immediately. i do believe there are other jeep owners that are unaware of this issue, due to the lack of notification by jeep/chrysler, and will experience the same issue, which could cause an accident and lead to injury. please review the details of my jeep vin and why it was not included in the t-36 recall. if this happened to my jeep, then i imagine it will happen to others. fortunately, i was not injured, but others could be injured who are unaware of this issue. please contact me with any questions. *tt
The alternator light came on in the vehicle while driving, then within about 10-15 minutes the radio had no sound although the screen was still lit. other lights then came on such as the engine light, anti-lock brakes. about 5 minutes later, i had to stop at a stop sign, when taking off again, the car would barely move. it wouldn't go above about 10-15 miles per hour, then it picked up speed but i no longer had power steering. as i pull into a parking lot to get the car off of the road, the wipers turned on (even though the switch was off). when i got into the parking spot, the car could not be put into park due to the power issues. i had to hold my foot on the brake until the engine died. within 2-3 minutes the engine died. everything was dead, including the power locks. then a few minutes later the dash would light saying the ignition or accessory unit was turned on but you couldn't do anything to turn it off. everything would then turn off again. after sitting for about 30-45 min, the car would start back up but it was not driven anywhere, we had it towed. both the alternator and battery needed to be replaced which is what caused the issues. the alternator is under a recall for my model/year/engine type but not for my vin. the recall was due to very similar issues, loss of steering control, loss of power.
Vehicle was in motion, traveling west. vehicle was being driven at normal interstate speeds. vehicle began to make a slight jarring sound along with a thumping feeling, as if driving along the knock strips. this was consistently occurring every 7 seconds or so, as if a tire was shredded. vehicle began to accelerate along with traffic flow. engine light began illuminating. engine began to feel lethargic. all digital gauges were indicating normal temps and pressure. no tire warnings. vehicle began to exhibit smoke smell in vents. vehicle became harder to accelerate to attempt to alleviate issue, as if stuck in between gears. vehicle became harder to control. switched from left lane to far right to reduce speed. vehicle became more lethargic. as vehicle proceeded up exit ramp to leave interstate, transmission automatically went into neutral. vehicle was able to coast into gas station parking lot. vehicle was shut off. raised hood, and there was a smell similar to rotten eggs, like a natural gas smell. no obvious damage as if it was physical. no belts or hoses appeared loose or hanging. no fluids were visibly leaving engine. no smoke or steam. attempted to restart vehicle after several minutes to cool engine due to hotter temperatures. vehicle has push button starter. vehicle would not start for roughly 15 seconds with brake pedal depressed. vehicle sounded like it was straining to start. roadside assistance was notified. upon arrival, tow truck operator had extreme difficulty starting vehicle. vehicle had to be forced onto tow truck using cable release in center console. electrical systems functioned fine. no damage to body or underside upon examination of good samaritans and tow truck operator. vehicle has roughly 74,xxx miles, of which roughly 45,000 are highway mileage. vehicle is maintained regularly for oil changes and has had tires rotated and balanced.
Driving on bridge, preparing to turn right on the i 15 highway in barstow all lights flashing on info panel . jeep began to power surge up and down windshield wiper came on radio went off, power steering became hard to control no brakes, came to rolling stop at chevron gas lot lenwood road . jeep did not restart . dead ! very scary and dangerous situation. could have had a serious accident with a commercial truck. truck honked at me because i cut him off trying to get to a safe stoping location. my wife was with me and she believed we were going to die she said. i'm go inn to get rid of this jeep. i no longer feel safe driving this vehicle.. my wife just read on the internet there are 12 recalls on the 2014 jeep grand cherokee.
Mfg 4/1/2013, replaced bcm / 4/27/2016 after engine would not turn off. several months later engine would not turn off. replaced trans valve. on 5/3/2018 the bcm short circuited and alternator burned while vehicle was parked leaving strong smoke and burnt smell in cabin. vehicle has 56,000 miles and has had bcm replaced twice in 23 months. no diagnoses availed as to why vehicle will not shut off on occasion. all routine maintenance and recalls are current. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle made a squealing and whining noise and there was a burning odor underneath the hood. while driving approximately 35 mph, the abs, power steering, and brake warning indicators illuminated. also, the windshield wipers and other components began to malfunction. the contact parked and turned off the vehicle, but it failed to restart. the contact replaced the battery, which caused the vehicle to operate appropriately for a short period of time before the warning indicators illuminated again. the contact checked under the hood and noticed smoke coming from the alternator. the contact stated the alternator and battery failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact called cary autopark chrysler jeep (400 auto park blvd, cary, north carolina 27511, 888-923-9538) and was informed that the alternator and brakes failed. the dealer would not assist because the vin was not included in a recall. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 47,800.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that there was a premature oil leak under the vehicle. the dealer (riverdale chrysler jeep dodge ram, 5869 broadway, bronx, ny 10463, (718) 548-2800) inspected the vehicle and stated that the manufacturer was aware of a known issue with the oil housing filter. the manufacturer had a campaign to replace the seal, which they stated that the contact's vehicle was included in; however, the dealer had not fully inspected the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 46,000.
My jeep as the t36 alternator recall. my vehicle recently was affected by this recall and it's extremely dangerous. my enter vehicle powered off and that left me with no power steering or much control of the vehicle while traveling down the road.. when i was able to get to a safe location i found my alternator smoking heavy and my car was completely dead. i took the jeep to the dealership and the only current fix is to replace the alternator with the same faulty design that failed in the first place. this is extremely dangerous if this would have failed at a higher rate of speed or in any daily driving situation. i cannot believe chrysler is getting away with this.
After the 3rd periodical maintenance performed at 59.793 km on nov.2017 the 28th,the vehicle in standstill with the gear engaged switched suddenly off (ecoand drive mode on).pressing the starting button, it restarted and remained ok for a long, but without any alert the switching off happened again and again. sometimes a cranking lead to fail the ignition.once the shutdown happened also with the vehicle running, not in standstill, with an high risk of accident.so the vhl went to workshop again in dec2017, feb2018 and mar2018 and the results of the workshops (different in these months) was always not trouble found.the problem of turning off in standstill, usually happens at the time of departure at the traffic light, in drive (gear 1),but it happened also in parking mode, with not cold engine and on cluster is reported"low oil pressure" (oil change less than a month ago). i point out that the vehicle is used in the style of mixed driving, every day traveling in the city but also runs daily routes on the highway so i assume that the regeneration of fap takes place correctly. the use of the vehicle is not heavy. the vehicle is always recovered at night in the boxg (the temperature does not fall below 0 degrees) and therefore is not exposed to extreme weather conditions. please check that there are no recall actions that have not been carried out in consideration of the persistence of the anomaly, i request that the workshop be supported by a second technical level to allow the resolution of the problem and avoid the replacement of unnecessary parts
I was driving down the street at about 35 mph when the battery icon flashed on. the air conditioner and the radio cutoff following the display of the battery icon. a few seconds later the power steering went out along with a loss of power. a message displayed on the dashboard telling me to pull over immediately along with a service trans brake message and a few others that i can't recall. i tried to get to a safe location but the vehicle shifted into park and completely turned off when i was going less than 5 mph. causing the vehicle to be stranded in the middle of the road with traffic trying to get by. i slowed down because there were vehicles in front of me making turns. this is the third time this has happened. towed vehicle to dealership and they said the alternator burned up. the battery is damaged as well. this sounds similar to the two recalls named "alternator may fail resulting in engine stall". notified the dealership and jeep customer care about this and they informed me that they can fix this recall because my vin is not part of the recall. vehicle is out of warranty so they say the repairs will come out of my pocket. after the first time this happened about a year ago i refuse to drive the vehicle on the highway because of the sudden shutoff and loss of steering. i feel this could cause an accident and i refuse to take that risk.
Engine failed. the engine (5.7l hemi) failed in middle of six lane road. fortunately not much traffic around vehicle when engine failed. if this happened on interstate it could have a substantial safety risk. mechanic reported the engine lost a rod and damaged the block. since vehicle under warranty, the engine was replaced. only 47000 miles on engine.
I have taken my jeep to the dealership 4 times already. i have only owned it for 3 months. about a month of that i haven't driven it. because its been in the shop for so long. it has a problem where it shifts really hard from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th. it moves the car forward then jerks it back really hard, like you're getting hit from behind. its scary especially when there are small children in the car. i had thought i had bought a reliable car but it seems that 30k has gone to waste and my hoopty was more reliable. the engine also shakes and sometimes it's stuck in third gear! its embarrassing and scary to pull out in flowing traffic. a check engine light has came on before but i have still not "met" the requirements for a new transmission. they replaced the valve body but it only drove smooth for a few days then went back to jerk the entire car again.
68105583af - this is a 2014 specific part which appears to be a problem on many 'pentastar v6' engines from chrysler. multiple vehicle models - same engine - same cooler. this housing is made of plastic and exposed to heat while directly on top of the engine- the plastic and its angle relative to the engine lends itself to the lack of durability of the component. since the cartridge oil filter sits at an angle, pressure is applied at the shoulder causing cracks around the housing during tightening at oil changes. the plastic needs to be made thicker or made out of some different and more durable material. further, the consumer needs to be notified that this is a real issue and can appear to be coming from the transmission area when in fact it is not. definitely not safe that an unwitting driver can find themselves out of oil possibly in the middle of nowhere. i am willing to submit photos once i am able to replace this.
Alternator seized on the car after only 33,000 approx. the vehicle is just outside of the 36 month warranty. jeep will not fix and says it does not fall under recall p60/ nhtsa 14 -634 even though the issues described in the recall are exactly what happened to my vehicle. i called the jeep dealership and fca and neither are willing to work with me or do anything to resolve the problem. i'm told per my vin number that my vehicle does not have the faulty alternator yet it has the exact problems of the recalled one from the same year. issue description- i was driving from nashville tn to naperville il and approximately 3 hours from naperville i stopped for gas and a break and upon starting the car the battery light came on. i continued to drive to naperville il and upon exiting the highway the car started losing power. it sounded like a vacuum cleaner and not like a normal engine. i keep driving and pulled into a parking lot. as i pulled in i lost all electrical components, including the brakes. the car would not start. upon taking it to my mechanic, then to a jeep dealership it was determined the alternator seized and damaged the battery and belt. they refuse to correct it and i'm now paying $680 for repairs.
Takata recall driving to work my car made a loud whistling noise and the battery light came out. i let it sit during work and after work i started it up. i then hopped in and while driving i noticed a burning smell coming into the truck and it was smoking from the hood at a stop light. i proceeded home and the smoke was now inside the car. my baby cousin was in the car and he began coughing, that's when i looked over and noticed it was very smoky in the car. i kept driving home (the street way) rolled the window down slightly for ventilation and noticed that my parking sense light came on. at the next light, my abn light came on along with the check engine light, and several other lights. that began to scare me and i knew it wasn't just my battery. the next time i took my foot off of the brake the smoke from the hood increased as well as in the car. the windshield wipers began going crazy, and i could tell that the car wasn't letting me use the gas anymore and the wheel began to lock up. this really made me nervous because it was extremely hard to turn it. at this point im panicking and causing traffic. pulling into a safe location, the wheel was completely locked at this point and even pushing the brake was hard. after coming to a complete stop the car wouldn't let me put it in park, then the vehicle just shut off. the smoking continued for a few minutes but i jumped out as soon as it came to a stop. luckily i took another route home or else i would have been on the highway when this happened. i then called aaa and waited outside to get the truck towed. it took them 25 minutes to come after a 5 minute phone call requesting their services. i got my belongings out of the truck and it still smelled like burnt smoke even after waiting with the window cracked. i don't have pictures, i have videos.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive away. the contact stated that the vehicle also stalled on another occasion. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 33,300.

I currently own a 2014 jeep grand cherokee and have had a significant number of issues with the vehicle with zero help from the manufacturer that include items regarding my lights shutting of during night driving, my engine shutting down 3 times while pulling onto a major highway as well as my brakes malfunctioning while driving on a major interstate. i had had other issues but as the manufacturer has been uncooperative and i am stuck with an unsafe vehicle with a child on the way i would like to make sure i file a complaint in as many places as i can before i simply look to get rid of this vehicle. all issues occured while the vehicle was in motion and all have occurred while on the highway during the first year of ownership but as the service center never documented my items properly i was stuck with a lemon as i put 50k miles on in the first year due to my commute to my employer from milford, nh to burlington, ma before moving back to ma where i purchased the vehicle. the most recent issue was my brake booster which leaks water into it and freezes during cold weather and my vehicle has been sitting around since feb as the dealership will not cover it as they claim to have already replaced the recalled item so i am in the middle of a dispute over that now as well. any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while the vehicle was parked, there was puddle of fluid under the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the condenser leaked. the condenser, air conditioner, and transmission fluid needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

On 9/24/2016 i was driving in florida going on vacation and the motor (pentastar v-6) started misfiring. took it to a jeep dealership in fort walton, fl and was told that it need a tune up. was charged $308.67 for the tune up. drove the vehicle about 10 miles and the misfiring started again. took it back to the dealership and was told it needed a new head. they replaced the head and we took the vehicle and started back to our condo and it started misfiring again. we left the next day and returned to our home in west virginia. took the vehicle to a dealership here in charleston, wv and they said it was a bad coil. we were again charged and the total was $279.27. it appears to be fixed. i have been researching this problems and appears there are thousands of these motors with that have experienced this problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 35 mph, a loud noise occurred. the contact noticed that the passenger headrest air bag deployed without warning. the vehicle was taken to rydell chrysler dealer (700 san fernando rd, san fernando, ca 91340, phone (866) 733-3506) where it was diagnosed that an electrical concern headrest restraint did not lock into place, and the front passenger seat headrest restraint needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. in addition, while driving 65 mph, the engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to rydell chrysler where it was diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

During driving car began making noise and temperature began to rise. dealer says water pump has failed, causing potential overheating. parts are on backorder. per dealer, (sansone jeep, avenel nj) 150 water pumps are on backorder. vehicle is in possession of dealer for 1 week at time of this complaint. vehicle has 28k miles and always serviced by dealer. large number of backordered parts indicates significant volume of repairs and likely design flaws.
This morning5/16/16 i turned my grand cherokee on,proceeded to drive to work, i felt that the car was not changing gears, it hesitates and the engine light came on an off, after driving about 4 miles the car stopped and went into neutral without me changing gears. this is not the first problem i have since i purchased this vehicle. it has been at the dealer more than one time for the same problem, which include: self-accelaration while driving, stalling in high way, and few other recalls from the company. it has been a night mare since i purchased this 2014 grand cherokee, one problem after the other! more than dissapointed with this car.
Vehicle failed suddenly while turning in the middle of a busy intersection (city driving). vehicle systems reported electronic throttle module failure, electronic barking system failure, airbag system failure, vehicle sensor failure all simultaneously. check engine light turned on.
The acceleration sometimes doesn't slow down even when you brake. i almost crashed onto another car
While vehicle was in motion on the highway the engine shut off. my wife was driving it with our 4 year old daughter in the backseat. at that time the vehicle lost power steering. she called me in a panic. i called the jeep dealer who came and towed the vehicle in to the service department. the same thing happened while the jeep was in the shop at california superstores in valencia, ca. they called me several times to come and pick the car up because they could not figure out what happened, but that there was not a "fix" for it. due to concerns for my familys safety i refused to pick the car up and called chrysler who told me not to pick the car up, that it was dangeous to drive it. the next weeki was again told to come and pick the car up, this time by both the dealer at california superstores, valencia, ca and by the corporate people at chrysler, and told there was no fix for the problem. the car just randomly shuts off while driving it. i opened a claim withchrysler corp. about the car stalling out but have not heard back about any fix or recall. the car is unsafe to drive and i am not receiving any help from the dealer or chrysler corp. i paid almost $38,000 for the car and do not even want to drive it or have my family in it due to the possibility that it could stall again (it has happened several times), the steering go out, and cause an accident harming us or other drivers on the roadways.
