I bought my 2011 jeep grand cherokee, brand new... literally 0 miles on it. beginning at just shy of 36,000 miles it began to intermittently have cranking and starting issues. every time i would take it to the service center at the dealership, they could never get the problem to "replicate." after several diagnostic tests costing $104.86 each, they found nothing. when the vehicle reached 38,902 miles, and after the problem became more recurrent the dealership had me to replace my key fob battery and update the software in my pcm & wcm. ($170.00) the problem didn't subside, and i was left to deal with the problem which occurred at most inopportune times, but only intermittently... until yesterday. after approximately a dozen+ attempts to get the jeep to crank and start, i took to youtube (http://youtu.be/27xkm0faiwi) where i found that i was not alone. not only am i not alone, i now realize what a systemic problem this is and that jeep/ chrysler/ dodge must certainly be aware of it. i took my jeep into my local tampa, fl. dealer today fully expecting to get the run-around, and for the first time they didn't disappoint... just as suspected they passed the buck. they charged me another $104.86 for a "diagnostic test" (which i already had informed them of what they'd find)! they then quickly handed me a repair quote of $1,300+ tax. i called chrysler's customer assistance center (1-800-992-1997) and i spoke with a representative who basically after a 30 minute conversation of explaining my situation stated that if i would have caught the undiagnosed issue at 36,000 miles and while it was under warranty, it'd would have been covered. so essentially all that could be done was for me to leave my jeep with them for who knows how long and pay the assessed fee. she then added that i could file a complaint with the n.h.t.s.a (1-888-327-4236) to which i did. *tr

Engine starts after key fob is bumped. my garage is inside my house. we could die from carbom monoxide poising reported to dealership they said nothing could be done.maybe my attorney can do something. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the tipm was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 58,000 and the current mileage was 61,893. mailed out 12/17/14*lj

Diagnosed as tipm problem (totally integrated power module) car initially had problems with headlamps and wipers malfunctioning, then ignition wouldn't turn over and then when it finally did the car could not be turned off! brought car straight to jeep dealer after it wouldn't turn off and was told it was tipm. they said part was back ordered over a month and car can not be driven in the meantime. this is a huge consumer problem across the country with multiple model jeeps and several model years. the part is impossible to get and i was even told a boat sank and that it why it is back ordered nationally for months. looking at other consumer complaints online this should be a recall. cars are not able to be driven and people are waiting months for the part. *jb

The remote start on the jeep starts but does not run. i was told the tipm was bad in it and cuts off fuel to the jeep and also causes the ar bags not to work, also controls alot of other electrical parts on the jeep. i feel jeep should have already had a recall on this part as they know there are numerous problems anad they are putting people in danger while driving. i undertand there are so many bad they are on back order for "several months". this is not fair to the consumer to be placed in this kind of danger, nor not be able to get the part for over several months. *tr

In june 2012 i began having issues with my vehicle giving a hard start and stalling. i reported it several times and carried it to the dealership many times. they installed a device to track what is causing the stall issue. they said the device did not read anything but the stalling was not happening as often after this device was removed. in october 2014, my vehicle began giving the hard start again every single time i start my vehicle and the stalling became very frequent. on november 4,2014 my vehicle stalled out and did not want to start resulting in me having to rent a car. i am really frustrated with this situation because all it is goin to do is affect another part on my vehicle. i had this for 4 years and i've had so much problems and had to change so many parts... this jeep is the lemon of the bunch. *tr

In june 2012 my vehicle began giving problems starting after several days back and forth to the dealer i was told my vehicle needs a pcm. the pcm was ordered and replaced but the problem still exist. i was then told the tipm had an issue. the tipm was replaced and the vehicle seems to be working as far as the issues starting but i kept having problems with the vehicle shutting off while driving. months and moths went by with me having this issue until they placed a device on my vehicle to record what's happening. after keeping my vehicle for a whole day to remove the device, a week later they said it did not record anything because it went dead. however, i was told to bring the vehicle back in for them to check spark plugs, transmission, and other things i did so and the problem went a way for couple months only to come right back. right now i am right back at square one with the vehicle giving a hard start and the vehicle shutting off while driving. something needs to be done about these vehicles. they need to be overhauled. *tr

On the weekend of 6/9/12, my vehicle began giving starting problems and shutting down while driving. the dealerships service department was closed so i had to wait until monday 6/11/12. i made several attempts on that day to have the vehicle checked out but the service department kept giving me a run around. the vehicle spent the night at the dealership and was checked the following day. i received a call that my vehicle is ready and was informed that a flash was done and a new computer had to be ordered that's why the check engine light is on. left the dealership and the vehicle shut off once again while driving and when i attempted to restart it was giving the hard start once again. on 6/16/12 the vehicle was fully un-operational and had to be towed to the dealership. it sat there until the part arrived and was installed. on 6/21/12 i picked it up once again it's suppose to be working great because the computer was replaced. less than an hour later it did not want to start again. i carried it back down on 6/22/12 and on the way there the vehicle shut down. later that day found out another part had to be ordered. 6/29/12 my vehicle was ready again and said to be working great and it was because the hard start problem was fixed but the shutting down was not fixed because it occurred once again on 7/1/13 and has been happening constantly for over a year. *tr

Our 2011 jeep grand cherokee has exhibited multiple instances of sudden unintended acceleration (sua). it has occurred to my wife, one of our sons who is and aerospace engineer and myself on different days at different speeds and locations. i personally have experienced it on two occasions, one of which caused a minor accident as i was backing out of a parking space, with my foot on the brake put the car in drive and it lunged forward of its own accord, there were two other people in the car and a witness outside the car who reported it just lunged and the brake lights were still on. chrysler inspected the car, found nothing and has closed the case. i called chrysler and asked that we discuss the issue they said they found noting, fixed noting and thus the case is closed. so they are calling three people bold face liars and my concern is they did not find anything so the cause of the problem still exists and can happen again and my wife is at risk every time she gets in the car. there are over 1,000 complaints on various forums about sua instances on jeep cherokees, channel 7 news even did a segment on it a few years back. can you please help at all on this issue? thank you. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that at engine start-up. the check engine warning light illuminated, causing the vehicle to hesitate to start. the failure was experienced numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous for the failure and a diagnostic was performed that was unable to locate a failure. the dealer replaced the starter cylinder however, the failure was not corrected. the check engine warning light continued to illuminate and flash sporadically. the failure mileage was 16,000 and the current mileage was 25,000. updated 12/06/12*lj the dealer replaced the cam sensor, fuel pump, cylinder head and ignition switch. the replacement of the fuel pump, did not resolve the issue. updated 12/06/12

I bought a 2011 grand cherokee from shave jeep in thousand oaks, ca. the vehicle started to malfunction within days after purchase. it would seize up, usually at highway speed, stall out, thus losing power steering and brakes. i brought the car in for service about 8 times until i almost got hit by a big rig on the highway at night when my car died. the constant engine light reading was a camshaft position sensor. chrysler techs attempted to resolve the problem without any luck. unfortunately the dealer swapped out cars with me and i found out they sold this vehicle without telling the new owners of the major mechanical problems. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact was driving approximately 60 mph when the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but was not repaired. the technician stated that because the check engine lamp was not illuminated, the vehicle could not be diagnosed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 15,000.

My vehicle is having trouble starting and my fuel pump continues to pump after the vehicle is off which is killing my battery. i've only had the car for a year and its only two years old. *tr

The first 3 weeks i had the vehicle the engine light kept coming on. i returned to the lithia dealership in santa fe 3 times to have it corrected. they accused me of fueling the car with the engine running. i do not fuel my cars with the engine running. the transmission had to be replaced at 4,000k miles because the robot at the factory did not seat the transmission fluid filter properly and metal flakes were found in the transmission oil pan as a result which damaged the valve box. the vehicle still acts odd at times ' jerking slightly when changing gears. at 45 mph while i was accelerating to merge onto the highway, the vehicle would change gears by itself into first gear. a young tech had been reading a service update bulletin and knew about this issue. it required a patch'for the computer and a download to fix this issue. i thought it was a miracle that i was not in an accident during this time. i have had so many issues with the jeep not recognizing the key fob upon entry and or trying to start the vehicle. forget the emergency key that is inside the key fob it was never properly keyed so you could use it in an emergency. at 15,000k miles the front sway bar had to be replaced. this vehicle has not been off-road and for the sway bar to break down like that is inexcusable. sudden unexplained acceleration. *tr
