Beginning in august of 2016, the car will stall sporadically upon rapid deceleration. last time in march the car stalled when brakes were applied to avoid an accident on the freeway. dealer cannot recreate or diagnose the problem and returns the car 'operating as designed.' car has not been driven since. problem has occurred 10-12 times and more recently with greater frequency. rapid declaration usually occurs to avoid a problem, this is the worst time for the car to stall out.
I left my car running and in park to getsomething out my house and upon return my vehicle was missing. my vehicle rolled across a field and crash into a tree and none of the airbags deployed
My 2011 jeep grand cherokee overland bought new started stalling randomly while driving causing me to loose control of the vehicle as when stalled i would have no power steering, or breaks. first happened at about 8000 miles, i took the jeep to the dealer and they could not duplicate the issue so they sent me on my way this was the first of now 6 times it has been to the dealership for the same issue. i did get a recall notice in the mail for a tipm which decribes the issue very closely, and yes i did have them do the recall 2 times actually but vehicle is still stalling randomly nearly causing several accidents. the vehicle is currently at the dealership now, but now my case manager from jeep customer care says the vehicle is out of warrenty and are charging me when they still cant properly diagnos the issue that has been happening since 8000 miles. i feel this should be covered under my original bumper to bumper warranty or the recall. it is jeeps fault they could not fix it the last 5 times. i feel unsafe for myself and children to be in this jeep, it is a death trap!!!! i can't sell the jeep because i don't want to kill anyone else. last time i was driving i was going 55 mph and making a right turn to go across a bridge. i ended up in the oncoming lane of traffic almost hitting the guard rail. everyone was honking, i put the jeep in park and pushed the start button. it started right back up. this is after the recall was done the second time. jeep does not seem to care who's life they are putting at risk. i just want a proper diagnosis, or my money back i paid for the death trap.
Vehicle has shut off while driving a number of times. two incidents were while i was sitting idle at a stop light. two other incidents happened while in motion, slowing down, approaching a stop light or stop sign. there is a recall for a fuel pump relay describing similar situations but my vin shows no such recall.
My car has been in and out of the shop for the past year. two years ago my fuel pump went out and that was replaced at that time and was also a recall situation. since then the same fuel pump has been replaced 5 times and the same problem keeps occurring. my car will stall and not start. after the fifth fuel pump i called the company and opened a case and was told they couldn't duplicate the problem. two separate dealerships have looked at my vehicle and were unable to detect the problem. since then the same problem has happened twice and i can't seem to get any help. please help!
Leather dash is delaminating and bubbleling around airbag.
Oil filter cooling housing assembly is broken at only 62,000 miles. the repair cost is over $500.00 at the dealership. i was notified of the issue when i took the vehicle in for an oil change.
The leather on the dashboard is curling and wrinkling up especially on the passenger side. i am concerned with it interfering with the deployment of the airbag.
The car will completely shut down all power off when slowing down or coming to a stop this has happened several times in the past year and has become very dangerous went out on the road could cause an accident or death please help
My wife and i received a notice that our jeep grand cherokee had a recall on sun visors and vanity lamp wiring. the letter stated we needed to contact our chrysler dealer and schedule a appointment as to be sure they had the parts to fix it. we called august 10 and were told to have jeep on there lot at 9 a.m. on august 13 and they would have the parts there to fix it. this was cumberland chrysler, cookeville tennessee. we arrived on time and dropped it off and were told it would take about 3 hours to fix. at 11:10 someone from the dealership called and told us they did'nt have the parts! my wife and i got up early on a saturday morning to have the jeep on there lot by 9 and this is what we get! also why call and make an appointment if the dealership is not going to keep it. they were supposed to start on it at 9 a.m. and didn't even bother to start until 11:10! just wanted to give chrysler a heads up about this dealership and to inform them to not pay them for fixing this vehicle! just in case they summit a claim because they did not do anything. again the dealership was cumberland chrysler, cookeville tennessee. thanks for your time.
On 8/12/16 i got my vehicle back from the dealership after it shut off 2weeks prior while driving and did not start again. it was then diagnosed that the starter was burnt. keep in mind now i've been experiencing hard start and stalling issues since june 2012. got a new starter for almost $500 and that seems to correct the hard start so far. however, the stalling became worst and the brakes is not holding when the vehicle stalls. this vehicle stalls about 5-10 times a day maybe even more depending on where i'm going. i actually have to put extreme pressure on the pedal or push gear in neutral or park when it stall or i would be in an accident by now. it is too long now that this vehicle has been s experiencing these issues and putting my family and i in extreme danger these 2011 jeep grand cherokee 's needs to be recalled all together before it cause someone their life.
Have been receiving recalls for a year maybe on problem with visors. i have taken it to dealer 3 times,, no parts available. i called daimler chrysler and was "put on a list". that was months ago .. now i have received another recall notice for the same problem!
I have a recall and the dealer, nielsen dodge chrysler ram in east hanover nj would not honor the recall and fix my recall. deplorable service and should be stripped of their dealership license for safety reasons
From 2012 i've been experiencing issues with my vehicle having a hard start and stalling while driving it eventually got worst and on 7/28/16 it stalled and never start again. i smell something burning under the hood but don't know what it is. i am now out of a vehicle because for four years a solution not found for the problem. my solution is that the whole vehicle needs to be recalled. this vehicle has been putting my family in danger for years.
For the past four years i've been having trouble with my vehicle starting and stalling while driving. the problem became worst over the past week as the vehicle stalls while banking corners or just driving on a straight stretch. it stalls about 3 to 4 times just to go from point a to point b which is normally 2 miles or less. twice someone almost rear end me because of this problem. it's time for a recall of this vehicle all together
The dashboard leather has severely wrinkled which could effect the airbags deploying properly. i reported this to chrysler customer service which did not to anything about it. they chuckled about the issue. the issue happened during the summer when the vehicle was parked in the garage.
The air lift system failed and my car was very low to the ground and unsafe for driving. this occurred march 6, 2018. dash leather is lifting and bunching. started in june 2017 and is worse now. passenger seat belt is sometimes jammed with passenger in it. you can move freely and my concern if there were to be a crash, would the seat belt work properly. none of these things should not fail in a 6 year old vehicle.
Ac/heating blend doors hot on one side and cold on the other no matter what the settings are on. said it's the consumers responsibility to fix $767....but there are tons of complaints found on google and from speaking to other jeep owners.
Vehicle check engine light comes on, vehicle loses power and eventually stalls. this has been going on for about a year and has happen about 4 times
The sun visors on the passenger side caught on fire the lining was burned, the compass on the dashboard was out as well. also i have been having a problem with the driver airbag light it has been turning on and off for the past 3 years. i have taken it multiple times to the dealership service to get fixed and they are unaware of the problem. it is a safety issue because if i was to get in an accident the airbag will not deploy.
Takata recall a/a system never work properly, i am a person who don't like to use it where ever i drive with that system turned on. just when really lower or hight temperatures are running (winter and summer), so; but when i tried to used it had to wait a lot and didn't get it completely or properly just partialy worked in the vehicle. this summer tired of the same problem and visited some tech to fix it they did not want to work on this kind of issue any more. hope you can help me recommend some jeep dealer make the work and get working system properly with not charge as those tech said it. thanks
The vehicle is continuously powering itself off while i'm driving and safety features are failing. the mechanical error is happening randomly whetherbinam in traffic and or cruising down a city street. this is due to a known issue with tipm, that chrysler has covered up in the past per second class action complaint case no. 13-cv-08080-ddp-vbk. i have been experiencing this issue with my vehicle and have i have received no resolution from chrysler or the dealer. i am afraid that this vehicle is going to cause injury to myself or someone else.
The vehicle stalls, losses power and the engine dies in the apex of cornering between 30-40 mph. gas tank has been half full to full on every event. vehicle has been owned for over 2 years with this occurring 6 times that have been documented. when the vehicle 'dies' the power steering and power brakes both fail causing an extreme hazard. vehicle has been to dealer upon each documented occurrence. dealer is 'unable to replicate' so therefore unable to assist. manufacturer has been contacted numerous times with the same result.
Dashboard is bubbling and pulling away from adhesive. dealership told me this is a defect of the 2011 jeep grand cherokee, and the only fix is to replace it........started as one little bubble and has progressively gotten worse. the leather is drying out where it is pulling away from the adhesive. jeep (mopar) conversation stated they could file a complaint but not help in the repair costs.
I cut my thumb & scraped a knuckle on some very sharp trim around the top of the cup holder when i reached inside it in a parking lot. the bottom of the trim had pulled away from the side and was protruding at an angle in more than one spot inside the cup holders. i took the car back to the dealership where i had purchased it less than one month prior to the incident. they said the entire piece which included the cup holders, tray, & gear shift would have to be replaced for $500 and i would have to pay for it since the extended warranty i had paid $2500 for did not cover it. so i not only got injured, but i'm stuck with the bill and cannot even work with my special needs client until it gets replaced since i can't put him in a dangerous situation. this jeep only had 28,232 miles on it and was in good shape when i bought it on 1/25/16, so this never should have happened. if the cup holders could have been removed and replaced separately, it would have saved me a lot of money and taken a lot less time for the mechanics to replace them. this was not the kind of quality i expected for a jeep grand cherokee.
I was approaching a stop sign and had my foot on the brake, the vehicle accelerated and it felt as if i had no pressure in the gas pedal. i was able to stop and pulled over. at first, thinking this was a scary, isolated incidence, i drove on the three blocks to the grocery store. at the grocery store, i stopped in the parking lot to let another vehicle pull out and a woman cross from her car to the store. the engine revved up and the vehicle accelerated forward from a dead stop. i threw it in neutral and used my e-brake to stop the car. i was terrified that i could have run over a pedestrian. i walked from the store to the dealership and they picked up my vehicle. i told them to keep it until they solve this issue. i do not feel safe to drive it and am seriously afraid that someone could be seriously injured or killed. the first time, my foot was on the brake and the car was still moving very slowly forward when the acceleration occurred. the second time, i was at a dead stop with the foot on the brake when the acceleration occurred. my vehicle remains in the shop at this time but i will follow up with whatever they find.
This is the second time this has happened, but while making a turn, my power steering quits working and i am unable to do anything. i can't push the brakes or gas and it just stops. both times, i have put it in park and hit the start button. the car starts back up fine. it's very scary and dangerous, especially if you are in traffic.
While driving heard a loud (cluck noise) ( smoke everywhere) parked looked under hood, saw that clamp broke that was holding radiator hose causing it to drop hitting the fan, ruptured hose causing vehicle to smoke! i know i'm not the first person that this happens to with this vehicle, this needs to be recalled!!!!
We were driving last saturday, we were driving onto a busy main street the car was in motion, another made a illegal move and swireved into our vehicle, we honked but the horn wouldn't work. we stopped the vehicle. the other driver apologized with a wave of their hand. we started to drive again, trying to use the horn with no success. about 15 later the horn started to sound. the horn has stopped and started. this vehicle has had numerous recalls.
My car will stall and then accelerate very quickly. if i am driving and trying to accelerate my car will stall almost cutting off. this usually happens around a speed of 25/30 mile per hour. i also experienced deceleration while driving on the highway at 60/65 mph. this is very scary. also when i am in reverse my transmission makes a knocking sound. my engine light constantly comes on. heat vapors comes from the hood of the car.
Jeep grand cherokee manufacturers recall r-71. sun visor fire hazard. recall hasn't been repaired or recall repair date hasn't been sent to me.
Water sloshing sound on start stop. sounds like it is under the driver's seat. brought to the dealer and they said lots of water was in the floorpan under the drivers seat. they think it is coming from outside via the heater box. it is not a clogged ac tube because they checked that
The wrinkles in the leather dash could cause an irregular passenger airbag deployment. this concerns me greatly.
The vehicle was put in the shop for three recalls and when i picked it up the vehicle was still in the shops pick up bay and would not start. they kept the vehicle for one week and could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. the vehicle was picked up on june 29, 2015, and it started. on july 6, 2015, the vehicle started to do the same thing it did not start. i called chrysler the operator said that i had to have it towed to the shop ourisman chrysler dodge and to have them look at the vehicle. i started the same ticket that i had before. the vehicle did not have this problem until i had the recalls done. i have to have the vehicle towed into the shop.

A tractor-trailer labelled with enterprise rent a car signage with one sign on the door labelled b unit home delivery parked illegally at lucas and 13th st was blocking both garage openings for my building, the bogen. the driver could easily have pulled up but was obviously too lazy. apparently the driver had remained in the vehicle the entire time but was too distracted to notice that he was in the way. when the lumper came out with his dolly. instead of instructing the driver to move out of the way, he calmly put away his dolly and told me to get back into my car as they would be leaving in a moment. when i asked him the name of the company, he refused to answer. i then noticed the vehicle had no rear tag (license or dot number) at all. as i followed the truck around the corner so that i could finally get onto tucker, i saw the the driver in his mirror, laughing. i find nothing funny about such irresponsible behavior and suspect that this company has no rear identification so that they cannot be identified if they cause damage or do other reckleess things.
Smoke suddenly appeared in car interior while driving on a highway. i pulled over. smoke became more intense. opened sunroof. flames observed in headliner/door jamb above driver's side. fire extinguished by fire department but not before extensive damage to the headliner/interior around the driver's side. car inoperable.
No voltage indicator light or voltage reader
When driving vehicle it will just shut down like it ran out of gas and it won't crank back up,you can leave it for a couple of hours and come back and it will crank back up and if you are lucky we can get it back home. i know there is a recall on these 2011 jeep grand cherokees and i need to know what to do to get ours fixed seeing as to we just bought this vehicle and can't drive it in fear of being stranded or causing an accident. it sucks to be paying 400. a month for a new car and can't even drive it. please help us in resolving this matter..
My front dashboard is peeling up and i'm worried that my air bags are affected.
The leather dash is bubbling causing the dash grill to pop up and break tabs. it is causing a reflection in the window causing unsafe driving.
Car stalled without waring, engine light didnot come on. im lucky no one hit me on the highway!!! recall p54 ive been told no parts are available to fix.
I was out driving from the grocery store and i was pressing on the breaks to turn a curve the vehicle speeded up. i was originally going 25 mph and started to slow up because i was approaching a curve but instead of it slowing down it sped up to 35mph while going around a curve. thank god no one else was on the road at that time. two weeks later my husband stated that when he was driving the vehicle the same exact then happened to him. at that time we took the vehicle back to gilman chrysler and jeep in houston tx where we purchased the vehicle from (8/10/14). they claim they tested the vehicle and found nothing wrong with it. my husband and i kept explaining to the service guy that something is wrong with the vehicle and we don't want to get into an accident for an issue that can be resolved. the service guy stated that they did all they could but they will keep our information on file. i am very upset with this situation. my husband and i have three children in which are in this vehicle all the time. there have been several recalls on this vehicle and none of which have been repaired because gilman chrysler would state they don't have the part or they don't see a recall at this time. i want something to be done about this now before something terrible happens. i will not let this situation go. i will continue to fight for a resolution until someone resolves it. please contact me immediately about this situation as this is the only vehicle that we have.
I have three recall notices on my 2011 jeep grand cherokee. you mailed me the first one in june and i visited my dealer on july 5th. four months later, i am still being told i am on the waiting list. the dealer is dade chrysler dodge in miami florida. the recall notices say to contact you if the dealer is not responding quickly enough. i think four months is too long. with three issues on this vehicle i think there should be more urgency. *tr
Experienced unintended acceleration, at a stop or near stop when parking. although my foot was on the break, the car lunged forward as if the accelerator had been pushed all the way down, hitting the back of a parked truck violently. although the impact was great, the air bag did not deploy. the incident was observed by the homeowner/truck owner. *tr

Dashboard delaminating, buckling, bubbling full dashboard warped. air vents are warped and don't sit properly possibly affecting window defogger. concerned if airbag on right side would work properly.
Initially, i took the car (2011 jeep grand cherokee) to the dealer due to a rough idle, a shaking that had not occurred before. they dismissed it saying it was due to us running the air conditioning during the summer. i then ran the car with out the ac on and it still occurred. next, the car began cranking and not starting. i looked up the symptoms on the internet and saw many others had problems with the jeep/chrysler tipm part. i took the car back to the dealer, described the problem, and asked them to look in to the tipm also as others were having the same problem. the diagnosed the problem as "two codes" that needed to be updated and not the tipm. within 24 hours, the car did not start and cranked again. for the third time, i took the car to the dealer. they then reported it could either be the fuel pump or the tipm. ( i told them that was what i had asked for them to look at the last visit.) they then determined it is the tipm, and the needed part will not be available until 9-25-13, leaving me car less until that time. my extended warranty only covers a 5 day rental and chrysler has thus far refused to provide a rental until the part is received. thank you.
My issue is with the a/c evaporator in my 2011 jeep grand cherokee. after driving for about 3 hours on the road with the a/c in use the evaporator freezes up and air stops blowing out of the vents. i can still hear the a/c working but nothing blows out. i took my car to the dealership and they told me chrysler is aware of the ongoing and reoccurring problem but has determined that they are not going to fix it. they recommended that i just use the a/c on a warmer setting or turn it off after it freezes up and wait a while for it to thaw out. i believe this is an unacceptable fix for a problem that i have and that should be covered under my warranty. i know other people with chrysler vehicles that have the same exact issue. this can be very dangerous when you are on a road trip in the south in heats of 100+ degrees especially when you plan to ride in a car with functional a/c. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) *tt
We purchased a new 2011 jeep grand cherokee 11/23/2011. the car had 308 miles on odometer. on 11/25/2011 as we were going out of town the vehicle's diagnostic (obd ii) system warning appeared, with a symbol "mil" indicating a malfunction indicator light. i checked the fuel tank cap and it was tight, i drove the vehicle to the nearest chrysler/jeep dealership in hamptonroads, va. the service department checked out the problem and determined it to be a # 6 cylinder, misfire-coil failure. none were available for replacement. the service department person stated that it was ok to drive the vehicle locally but suggested it would not be a good idea to drive it out of town, as it would not get very good gas mileage! we started to drive the vehicle home, however; approximately 2 miles after we departed the jeep dealership the vehicle caught a fire and burned the entire engine compartment/front of vehicle. we, my wife and i escaped without physical harm, but had to stand by and watch it burn until the firedepartment arrived. *tr
