Vehicle turn signal randomly indicates the wrong direction. has happened multiple times in vehicle. it appears to affect the right turn signal more than the left. occasionally it will flash the wrong turn signal once, then it flashes the correct one. however there has been instances where it flashed the wrong direction the entire time the lever was in position. during a visit to dealer for a recall on another part, the service manager informed me that there are new module updates available. however he would not inform me what they fixed, and they would end up costing me $90/ service flash. this should not be legal for the dealers to charge for a safety related update. provided that the update is for that issue

I received a recall letter back in the summer 2014 for faulty ignition switch. called dealer, parts not available. called several more times since, still no parts and told to wait for letter. well, it is now feb. 2015 and still no parts/letter. it states that ignition switch can turn from start to run, which will shut down engine or other electrical parts ( steering, engine, power brakes ) increasing the risk of crash. do i have to wait till i crash before this is taken care of ? *tr

I received a recall notice about 4-5 months ago for my 2008 jeep grand cherokee. it is recall p57/nhtsa 14v-567 for an ignition switch. it states that some of the vehicles may experience a frequency operated button ignition key(fobik) that may stick between the "start" and "run" position. this may result in the loss of certain electrical features. it continues to state that the ignition position may result in the loss of certain electrical features and/or a loss of engine power, power steering assist, and/or power brake booster assist. i called the chrysler group recall assistance center 1-800-853-1403 and they told me that they do not have the part in and have no idea when the part will be in. i find this very disturbing and quite frankly not acceptable. this is a serious safety issue that can cause my car to shut off while driving and possibly crash. in my opinion that is not an acceptable response to thousands of people that are experiencing this and waiting to have this repaired. it has already been 4-5 months since the notice was mailed out. how is it possible to still not have the part in and/or an eta on when the part will be in stock? having ending the recall notice with "we're sorry for any inconvenience, but we are sincerely concerned about your safety" doesn't exactly speak to the response i received when i called chrysler. four to five months have passed and still no eta on when the part will be here. how concerned is chrysler? please, any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated not only for myself, but also for all of the other individuals that have to hear this non-sense from chrysler. this is putting thousands of people at a severe safety risk. *tr

3/15/15 several months ago i received a notice of a safety recall (p57/nhtsa 14v-567) that the frequency operated button ignition key (fobik) may stick between the "start" and "run" position, which may result in the loss of certain electrical features and/or a loss of engine power, power steering assist, and/or poser brake booster assist in addition to other possible electrical malfunctions. the notice also stated i would be contacted again by chrysler when the remedy part is available. i called a local dealer and was told the parts indeed were unavailable. i have not heard anything further from chrysler. i have experienced a few minor malfunctions with warning lights but fortunately nothing serious. however, this is taking too *%^&%*( long. what is the problem? really, is chrysler making an effort to remedy this problem? i am uncertain of the date, because there is no date on the notice; the date listed above is an estimate. *tr

Vehicle has had a history of unresolved electrical issues beginning at the time of purchase. in 2009, the ignition switch began to fail and the key fob was replaced. due to a vin number issue with a replacement program, chrysler refused to replace the key assemblies though they were replacing identical assemblies on other vehicles that used the same modules. several "reprogramming" have been conducted to clear problems. specific issues include: 1. erratic behavior of electrical system that stems from the operation of the ignition switch. for example the engine will start but the vehicle will be impossible to shift out of park and the radio/navigation will not work until you jiggle the ignition switch and key fob. 2. chronic failure of the electronic throttle. you can be driving along at any speed and you will lose throttle control. this has caused several near miss accidents. the problem is acknowledged by a check engine light and lighting of an specific idiot light on the dash. however, the lack of throttle response is very dangerous and can be restored by only stopping the vehicle and shutting down the engine several times to reset the electronics. 3. chronic failure of the dealership to address proper correction of the electrical problems. vehicle was covered by a full warranty and an extended warranty but these problems were never repaired. due to sporadic and random nature of the systems faults, the dealership refuses to make repairs. 4. dealerships unable to clear check engine light and blame issues on the fact this unit has a diesel engine. local waterway car wash is refusing to wash these vehicles due to rapid and unattended acceleration issues which have caused accidents at their car washes. this problem can be documented by calling them by telephone. they consider the vehicles to be a safety risk. please help! *tr

On this first occurrence, and numerous times since, the engine will shut down. sometimes while sitting motionless (e.g. at a traffic light) but also at times while traveling on the road. it has occurred at times where great danger was eminent because it happened during the merging into traffic flow, while passing another vehicle and when trying to cross train tracks and through intersections. i have survived several close calls. i need this repaired asap! *tr

Drove the car home where it would not turn over, the key would not turn the engine on. luckily, this did not happen while driving or there would have been an accident. it was as if the part that the key went in was jammed. the car was towed to the dealership where it was determined that the wcm was not recognizing the keys. the wcm was replaced and as a result, two new fobiks had to be purchased. the dealership tested both the power and the ground to the wcm, all tested good, found that the wcm was not recognizing the keys that were in the ignition. we received the recall on the fobiks, and submitted the paperwork for reimbursement. we waited the 60 days that was required but when calling about the refund was told that we would have to wait for the second recall in order to be reimbursed. i was told that even if there had been no problem with my vehicle, and if i would have taken the car to the dealership for a new wcm, i would have to pay for the repair and then wait for the second recall notice before reimbursement. the representative repeated this info to me several times b/c i could not believe what i was hearing. i asked for a supervisor and none was available. the supervisor was to call me back but i received no such call. per the recall, i have provided a copy of the original receipt and i confirmed that they did receive the receipt. i am asking for the chrysler recall to reimburse me for my expense as their recall states "reimbursement will be sent to you within 60 days". *tr

While driving at posted x-press way speeds (70 mph) the car suddenly went dead. the power steering, radio, a/c etc. shut off. fortunately traffic was light and i pulled off to the shoulder of the road. after the vehicle come to a stop. i turned the key to the left (off position) than turned back to the right on position. the car started immediately and i continued on. the car will also stall immediately after starting it and i will have to sometimes start it to two to three times before it stays running. i had the problem looked at a few years ago. first they said it was a bad key. when that didn't fix the problem they said it was a bad computer board. that worked for a few months and than the intermittent starting again and has been that way ever since. i know older model jeeps are going to recalled but i think the recall should include 2008 model years also. *tr

Vehicle had issue resolved by recall p57 where key fob would stick in ignition between off and on. the key first got stuck in the ignition on 8/14/14, a memorable day, because it happened on the day we were going to the title company to close on our first home. at the same time the ignition switch issue started the airbag light came on and all the steering wheel functions are disabled. the horn no longer works. it is unknown if the airbags work. this is clearly a safety issue but the dealership wants to charge $90 just to hook the vehicle up to their machines to diagnose what is going on and will not consider this as related to the recall p57. not being able to honk in the interest of safety is a problem. it is unknown if the airbags are functional so i guess it will take getting in an accident to find out (an accident which cannot be prevented by honking my horn to warn another driver).

I have been waiting for over a year for a part that doesn't exist. it has gotten a lot worse with the humidity changes and every time i start the jeep it sticks. i was told to call at the beginning of every week to see if the part comes in. they also told me that they are limited to how many they get each week. i am beyond this bull crap on waiting for a part that's just so simple as they claim to replace.

Car would not start. neither fob would work. car was in wrangell alaska and had to be shipped to bellingham. car is now at dealers. was not a fob problem. ecm, electronic control module? after two days work with two mechanics, they still do not know the problem, just guessing. only dealer can work/program the car computer. cost of shipping car + hotels+restaurants+towing to and from ferry++++++ dealer cost. all because the car has to be fixed at the dealer and they apparently can't do it either. this is getting really expensive. what if i had been out in the boonies, away from phone service in the winter and this had happened? *tr..updated 09-25-14 *bf

We are having difficulty with the ignition key, it sometimes releases easily and sometimes we have to start the car again and move it and that can happen up to as many as 5 or 6 or as little as 2 or 3 time. initially it was a little bit of a problem, but now it is becoming scary. taking it to the dealer again because we mentioned it the last time we were there and we were told that it would be ok until the check engine service light goes on. we just can't wait and continue driving the car like this. there seem to be other complaints with similar issue. we hope that all our concerns can be remedied. *tr
