Problems with 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee ENGINE

On average, the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 86 261 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Vehicle shut off while driving without any driver action. weather clear. pavement dry. don't know temp. never reported as i thought it was a one-off incident - until hearing of the current recall for this issue on other jeep vehicles in this time period. *tr

Summary: the vehicle experienced significantly reduced power while driving in freeway traffic. it was necessary to move to the far right lane and exit the traffic flow. this has happened on several occasions. it is unsafe when the condition occurs in heavy traffic. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that after shifting into drive, the vehicle suddenly stalled. the vehicle was able to be restarted. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test, which determined that the electronic control module was defective. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 70,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact mentioned that after the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 13v175000 (electrical system , power train), the vehicle failed to start. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 12,821. updated 10/17/13*lj the consumer stated the vehicle would not start and all lost all power. the vehicle was jump started. the consumer believed the vehicle failure, was due to the recall that was performed on the vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle was pulling abnormally. in addition, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was restarted but the failure recurred while the contact was sitting at a traffic stop. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 103,000.

The engine stalls like someone turns the key off, no codes, dealer replaced coils, psm, spark plugs, crank sensor and solenoids, still stalls and is very scary in traffic. dealer said that he gives up and cant figure it out and to trade it in. *tr

Vehicle has intermittent stalling issue. has happened four times in the 1500 miles i have owned the vehicle. 3 occasions have been at idle and once on the highway at 65 mph. no codes are logged, no check engine or malfunction lights come on. it always restarts immediately after shut down. *tr

While driving on rt 66 w in pw county va during rush hour traveling at 70+ mph the dash lights flashed, the red light indicating electronic throttle control illuminated and the car suddenly dropped speed to 20 mph and would not respond the accelerator peddle being pushed to floor. cars behind me drove off in the median trying to avoid me nearly causing a major chain reaction. so far i have spent $4000+ in repairs and cause cannot be found. there are 100's of complaints on this issue in the various internet blogs. it appears that the mercedesbenz and chrysler 300 crd having this same engine has been recalled due to same symptoms. this vehicle needs to be recalled before someone is killed, if that has not happened already and the accident was not properly investigated. *tr

The engine stalled while merging from one highway to another. all power assist systems (brakes, steering) failed; restart from neutral was unsuccessful and required full power-off in park. upon restart, the mil was clear. *tr

As i was driving on the interstate my jeep (2007 overland 5.7l hemi) shut off at the speed of 65mph with no power steering it was hard for me to try to get over as my jeep was going slower and slower other cars are approaching and honking and scaring me. i thought i was going to be hit. i was able to pull the jeep off tot he side to put the car in park and try to start it again. it took a few times and it started but acted sluggish all the way home and believe me i stayed on the shoulder side and went real slow. they should recall this because this isn't the first time this has happened to me or other jeep owners from what i have read. *tr ## vin failed ##

First my rear window light would come on during cold weather and would stay on this happened at 35,000 miles. then my directional stopped working had fixed it had something to do with inside the steering column. this happened at 82,000 miles. then a few weeks later drove myself to the drs when i came out my jeep wouldn't start. all the interior lights, radio, directional, windows worked but when i turn it on i hear a click then nothing else. car wont turn over at all. i waited about an hour of trying before it decided to work and turn over. i then proceeded to drive 5 min stopped at a gas station for gas, when i shut it off and tried turning back on same thing happened. i waited about 45 min before it would start back up. then no problems for 5 days. now again its doing the same thing except i left it over night and it still wont start. i called chrysler after looking online and seeing a lot of people with complaints that were the same as mine except these people spent thousands trying to fix and replace everything yet still no luck they continue having this problem. so this is a very well known problem with jeep and even after bringing to jeep dealer and having a diagnostics done with no problems showing up. they don't know what's wrong suggested replacing wires, starter, something in the steering column, and some module. i don't want to dump tons of money in it like everyone else just to have the same problem. chrysler apologized and said there is no recall for my vehicle. i stated it is a known problem and there should be. she then went on to say i should have it towed back to jeep for another diagnostic. it works when it wants to work and has left me and my 4 yr old stranded. it seems like anytime there's a problem with my jeep and everyone else's its always during cold winter months. frustrated and stranded. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that smoke emitted from under the hood while driving. the vehicle was towed to the dealer to be inspected. the failure was located at the radiator fan. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileage was 72,000.

While driving the vehicle the engine will randomly shut off (stall), this occurs at any speed and any driving condition, occasionally it will be very difficult to restart, taking multiple tries. this is extremely dangerous especially when turning corners or coming off the freeway and merging into traffic. was almost rear ended when truck stalled and would not start i even put in neutral with no help and it just kept jumping. *tr

Driving down the road the car will not go over 45 mph. the only way to quick fix the problem is to turn the car off then back on then it will run normal. also the car has stalled out when i was turning down the road and would not go until i put the car in park then put it back in drive. *tr

I was coming to a stop at a stoplight and everything went dead. i couldn't stop the vehicle so it had to roll to a stop. after, i could not restart it. we had to push it to the side. it was towed to dealer. the battery was checked along with the engine. they said it was the ignition switch and that there was a recall. they said they didn't have the parts then and they'd call us when in. they never did. a year goes by and this happened again 2 weeks ago. it was taken to dealer and we were told it was part of the recall, but they could not get the parts to fix it. the dealer said then to write jeep and complain. *tr

Driving down road and engine stalled. loss of power steering and power brakes. caused car behind me to slam on brakes to avoid getting hit. put in neutral and tried to start. had to switch ignition off before engine would start. stalls at random without any engine malfunction lamps. hazard to be driving on road. problem still unknown and vehicle is out of extended warranty by five thousand miles. *tr

While driving the vehicle the engine will randomly shut off (stall), this occurs at any speed and any driving condition, occasionally it will be very difficult to restart, taking multiple tries. this is extremely dangerous especially when turning across the opposing lane. the stalling happens frequently at times, as much as 3 to 4 times a day. *tr

While driving the transmission will slip into neutral and revs high, all gears high-light on the dash board, and this happens at multiple speeds many different times? there have been several times this has almost caused my husband and i to have an accident. i was told by the dealership that a recall has been issued and to wait until notified??? this is not something to take lightly and having almost been in accident(s) i feel this needs immediate attention. *tr

Purchased 2007 jeep grand cherokee overland 5.7 hemi july 31, 2007. december 1, 2010 my wife was traveling on an interstate at 65 mph when the engine suddenly shut down. she managed to pull the car off the road, started the engine and drove home without any more issues. dealership technician discovered p0884 code from the pcm. he could not find any problems. car continued to stall numerous times at high speed and sometimes while stopped at a stop sign or red light. this problem started shortly after the engine spark plugs were changed. after numerous parts were changed at the dealership, with no results, the technician contacted an engineer from the chrysler company. during an on site visit the engineer suspected there was an issue with the upper engine harness receiving an electrical induction from the engine coils causing the pcm to shut the engine down. the technician installed foil around the harness and wire tied the harness up off the cradles they lay in. engine performed normal with no shut downs for several months. decision was made to change the upper engine harness. since the harness was changed my jeep has stalled out four more times. the most recent stall occurred the last week of december 2012. this is an extremely dangerous situation to be traveling at interstate speed limits and your car stalls. chrysler places drivers in a situation with a vehicle that is uncontrollable while traveling on an interstate with cars behind you. i started an on line thread in jeep forum.com concerning this issue. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/2007-jeep-grand-cherokee-overland-stalling-problem-1147825/. there are numerous other folks having this problem in the usa, canada, and hawaii. i think that an investigation should be performed to discover what is causing this issue and come up with a positive repair for customers that are having this problem. *tr

The engine shuts off for no apparent reason. it can happen at any time whether at a stop, or at any speed. i never know when it will shut off. when the engine shuts off, i shift to neutral, turn the ignition off and then back on and start the engine. it will not restart unless the ignition is turned off. the engine runs fine after that normally. happens every 50-100 miles and tends to occur more often in warmer weather. there is no specific action that has occurred prior to the occurrences such as filling the tank. dealers have not been able to pinpoint the problem and no obd codes are disclosed. i estimate it has happened 200 times. *tr

I was driving 65 miles per hour on the expressway, when suddenly, my jeep began to decelerate until it reached about 40 miles per hour, even though i maintained constant pressure on the accelerator pedal. it felt like i had no control over the speed of the vehicle. traffic was light so i coasted, and pressed the pedal a little harder, until eventually, the suv lurched and then started to accelerate. about 3 minutes later, the same thing happened again while i was still driving on the expressway. the vehicle decelerate to 35 while it seemed that i could not control the speed, and then accelerated again. after the acceleration dropped and then increased the second time, i was able to maintain 65 miles per hour until i exited the expressway 15 miles later near my home. driving a vehicle under these conditions is a horrible feeling! i was so afraid that a car or truck moving at the normal speed would crash into me. if the traffic had been heavier, i would have had to pull over to the side of the highway, which would have been even more terrifying, because it was dark outside, and i had no idea what was going on or how long i would be stranded. we just had the suv's engine tuned one month ago at the dealer's service center, and we also had the oil changed at the same time. there haven't been any episodes like this until now. i'm actually afraid to drive the jeep again! *tr

On 12/5/2012 my 2007 jeep grand cherokee limited with only 33,466 miles stalled on the highway at about 60mph. i almost got into an accident because of the loss of power steering and brakes. i thought this was an isolated incident however since then the stalling problem has been increasingly getting worse to the point where i recently had to take my jeep to the dealership for repair. the dealership was courteous, but unfortunately told me that the hemi engines have this known problem for stalling and they had to change out $1500.00 worth of parts to hopefully fix the problem. sadly my extended coverage did not cover the cost due to the lack of chrysler/jeep not being able to give them an actual broken part number. it seems chrysler/jeep is just playing guessing games to fix the problem! while researching the web i came across a web site called "www.jeepforum.com" and found out that there are hundreds if not thousands of people who are suffering this same problem and it is very clear to me that this problem should be recalled by chrysler/jeep. sadly i know this will fall on deaf ears at the nhtsa as others have also stated on the jeep forum web site, but i'm hoping by taking the time to write this post that it will inform anybody who is considering to buy a jeep vehicle to think twice as chrysler/jeep are producing pure junk vehicles that you could end up compromising your life and others around you! remember hundreds if not thousands of people can't be wrong!! *tr

Purchased 2007 jeep grand cherokee overland 5.7 on 11/30/2012. on 12/04/2012 i experienced stalling while decelerating to stop for a stop light, then the vehicle stalled showing code p0884. the vehicle started right back up when i turned the key with no signs of hesitation. ever since that day, my vehicle stalls on average about 8-10 times per week depending on how often i use the vehicle. it stalls mainly during idle or coming to a stop and the most frightening stall i have experienced was when i was traveling at 60mph on a major highway and the vehicle completely stalled, and instantly restarted itself. both times i experienced stalling at high speed was when i was doing about 60mph and both times the vehicle restarted itself on its own. but every time the vehicle stalls, i loose all power including power steering which worries me very much. apparently i am not the only 2007 jeep grand cherokee overland with the 5.7 motor owner experiencing this problem. i am one of the hundreds on owners involved in a group discussion on jeepforum.com where we discuss this problem and steps that jeep, private mechanics, and/or owners themselves have taken to correct this stalling problem. this problem has been going on for years and no one seems to have a solution. loss of power at 60mph is a very big issue and i worry that someone can be very hurt or killed by loss of power steering during stalling. i hope this issue raises concerns for my vehicle and i would be more than willing to allow someone from the nhtsa come and test drive my vehicle to experience what i and hundreds, possibly thousands of others are experiencing. thank you very much and if you should have any questions in regards to this problem, please do not hesitate to contact me any time. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph the vehicle suddenly stalled and power steering failed. the consumer then coasted to the side of the road and no warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was able to restart after a few moments. the vehicle was later taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted. the failure and current mileage was approximately 41,000. updated 12/03/12 *bf

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that they could not diagnose the cause of failure. the vehicle was no repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 40,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer stated that the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system). the failure mileage was 94,707.

While traveling at 75 mph the 5.7 hemi engine shut off as if someone turned off the ignition key. no warning lights or any indication there was a problem. the engine started right back up and we continued on our way at a lower speed of 65 mph. twenty miles later the same thing happened. this happened a total of four (4) times in a trip of approx. 400 miles. an online search indicates this dangerous problem is occurring in other vehicles. the customer service rep at chrysler jeep claims they have no information about this problem! the frightening thing is that there does not appear to be a remedy for this issue. will not be driving this vehicle until i can get it into a dealer for them to attempt a repair. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving various speeds, there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle and failed to accelerate. in addition, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. the contact mentioned that the failure recurred on numerous occasions and only during hot weather. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced all eight control modules but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000. the vin was not available.

While driving on the interstate at 65 mph, the vehicle's engine stalled. i had to put the vehicle in neutral, turn the ignition off an back on to restart it. this first happened just after the 30 day warranty was over, as i bought the vehicle used in may of 2012. since that time, the vehicle has stalled at highway speeds or when slowing down for a stop on dozens if not hundreds of occasions. the spark plugs, egr valve, ignition coil, pcv valve and map sensor have been changed to no effect. there are no meaningful diagnostic codes stored in the obd-ii system. i feel this condition is very dangerous, as i never know when the vehicle will stall, causing a loss of power steering and brakes, and the ability to accelerate out of harm's way. it is my understanding that many of these same vehicles with the same engine are having similar issues. i can no longer let my wife or teenage son drive the vehicle because of this condition. *tr

2007 jeep grand cherokee laredo - randomly the vehicle will not start, when turning the key to in the ignition you can hear the relay clicking, engine does not crank or start. when the key is returned to the off position the data display below the tachometer momentarily states that the transmission is overheated. the battery is fully charged and everything else, lights, horn, etc still work. there are no error codes dumped. the first attempt to fix this by the dealership was to replace the starter, now 4 months later the vehicle is doing the same exact thing. this has become a reliability issue in that there is no telling when this will occur, each time family members have been stranded with this vehicle, jeep dealership seems to be "stumped". i have read of many jeep vehicles that demonstrate this very same problem, without resolution. this can be an intermittent issue, usually have to wait until it becomes a "hard" fail before the dealership will look at it. this is extremely frustrating owning this vehicle not knowing when it will or will not start and whether the dealership can or cannot fix it! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would stall and the check engine indicator would illuminate. the dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 82,000.

Vehicle suddenly lost power (did not stall) while driving 70 mph on interstate i40 in a construction zone (no access to median because of concrete construction barriers). engine power did not allow me to drive over 35 mph. dash board indicator started flashing red (etc indicator: electronic throttle control). several tractor trailers had to brake hard to avoid running into the rear of my vehicle. engine is 3.0l mercedes diesel. problem appears to be a failed swirl motor due to excessive oil blow by from a defective intake tube with an orange gasket. this mercedes diesel engine was used in jeep gr cherokee in 2007 & 2008. this particular problem was identified in nhtsa item #1006202 regarding mercedes vehicles but never to jeep. this situation of loss of power while highway driving could of been tragic. this jeep 2007 & 2008 problem is well documented in various jeep forums on the internet. why is nhtsa not doing anything about it??? *tr

Began stalling when stopped or coming to a stop with foot off the accelerator. engine would start up just by restarting the jeeps. months later sometimes you would have to turn the key to off before it would start,. on average it would stall once every 7 to 10 days. no codes, stored or pending during this journey. replaced the cam sensor. check hoses for vacuum leak, found none. replaced the asd relay. changed from premium to mid grade. changed to regular grade. checked air filter and cleaned throttle body with stp cleaner. added fuel system cleaner to fuel tank. checked all of the electronic connectors, none loose or damaged. checked transmission fluid level was fine. replaced map sensor and position crank sensor. replace egr valve changed oil and filter for the first time since i purchased the jeep. used sae 5w30. with 79,000 miles on the hemi i replaced all sixteen champion 570 with new champion 570. sprayed each of the 16 boots with electronic cleaner verified the plug gap and torqued the plugs. sprayed vast amount of stp throttle body cleaner in the tb and stp fuel system cleaner in the gas tank. still stalling. *tr

For a couple years my jeep grand cherokee has experienced several episodes of ignition shut off. i spoke with my local dealer and they said it was not an issue with jeep, only some dodge models. i paid to have a 2nd computerized key made at the dealership, as dodge was saying their issue was related to the driver having other keys on ignition key ring. this way i had a single ignition key. still experienced the issue. last time i was making a left hand turn from a subdivision on to a busy 2 lane hwy with a posted speed of 50 miles per hr. ignition shut off as i started to cross the right hand lane. fortunately i had enough forward momentum to clear traffic and came to rest on the left hand shoulder by a farmers field. i finally received in the mail the official chrysler recall notice for my jeep due to ignition shut off. called my local dealer this morning to set up an appointment, although the recall said they would contact me. with several incidents, i felt time was critical. my dealer advised me they had not received the official recall notification from chrysler and therefore could not schedule the repair free of charge. if however i wanted to pay for the repair they could schedule. i advised them that was not acceptable. emailed chrysler customer relations and here also, my dissatisfaction and what appears to be a wonton disregard for human safety by a manufacture and their representative. *tr

Vehicle just randomly stalls, shuts off as if the key was turned off and on quickly. sometimes this happens when driving at highway speeds or when going slow around a turn or making any turns, this is very dangerous because of the loss of power steering and its very difficult to steer when it stalls. this will also happen when idling in park or when sitting at stoplights. *tr

Vehicle stall out at various speeds, or when idling stationary. comes on without warning. seems these stalling problems are common with 5.7 hemi jeep grand cherokees, even according to the dealer. this is a serious safety hazard as power steering and brakes are lost during a stall. an inoperative vehicle in a traffic lane could suffer a rear-end collision from this condition. please help by ordering a recall from chrysler company to remedy the problem. nothing seems to remedy the situation and it keeps occurring. *tr

Vehicle stalls when idling at red lights and occasionally shuts down suddenly at highway speeds. apparently this is a common problem with this vehicle with the hemi v8 engine and it is a serious and potentially dangerous matter. there is an entire thread about this at http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/2007-jeep-grand-cherokee-overland-stalling-problem-1147825/. *tr

I have two problems with the vehicle that make it unsafe to drive. the first is that the engine randomly stalls. most of the time it stalls when the vehicle is stopped. sometimes it stalls at very slow speeds. when stopped, sometimes i hear a "thunk" right before it stalls like it was trying to go into gear. it has done this running in park and when the brake is pressed while in drive. it has stalled on me in busy intersections putting me in unsafe situations. turning the key all the way off and back on will restart it. the second issue is that the transmission randomly gets stuck in 4th gear. it happens most often when a lot of power has been applied from stop. but it also happens randomly. when it occurs, i pull over and stop the engine turning the key all the way off. usually when i restart it will go back to drive and all the gears in the transmission function normally. the issue is so chronic now with the transmission that it immediately goes into 4th and the vehicle is not drivable. it is at the dealer now. the dealer pulled codes and recommends replacing the transmission solenoid pack. this part is currently on national backorder and there is no eta of when the part will be available to the dealer. also there is no guarantee that this part will fix the transmission problem. if it doesn't, the vehicle will require a new transmission. they are not even looking at the stalling problem until the transmission problem is resolved. the stalling problem is very serious and i cannot confidently use the vehicle without fearing putting children in an unsafe situation. there should be a safety recall by chrysler on these vehicles. *tr

The trans struggles to shift through every gear and wont shift past 3rd gear, sometimes even stalling me in traffic. feels like it doesn't catch the next gear when accelerating. there have been times when i've been stopped at a light at an intersection and when i go to accelerate, the engine will just rev as if it's in neutral, but it's not. therefore, the acceleration is very weak. when switching from park to drive, it either doesn't fully click into drive or it selects all gears (prnd) in which i then have to park the car and shut it off, then retry a minute later. i don't drive the vehicle as a manual so there should be no reason for it to stall, but i'm pretty sure the issue stems from the main computer in the shifter module. at times, it seems like the vehicle is expecting me to shift it from gear to gear, then it finally clicks and moves to the next gear on its own.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated while driving the vehicle stalled. the contact restarted the vehicle and the check engine light remained illuminated for a short time. the warning light shut off before the contact took the vehicle to the dealer. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to dealer; however, they were unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of failure. the approximate current mileage was 74,000. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I bought this jeep on 9/20/2013. the truck is equipped with the 5.7 l hemi engine. over the first 50 days and 1,157 miles of ownership i have encountered 18 episodes of the vehicle stalling, with 14 of those stalls occurring on major highways in traffic. the stalls occur with no warning. the vehicle immediately decelerates to a stop and i am left with no power, no steering and no brakes. one dealership blamed it on a bad battery. the dealership which sold me the jeep diagnosed the problem as a m.a.p. sensor, which they replaced. that did not correct the problem as the stalling problem continues to occur. the most recent was on 11/9/2013 while driving in the center lane of the pa turnpike at 65 mph. the jeep stalled and came to a stop, with a semi tractor-trailer behind me. i have no idea how that truck driver was able to swerve in time to miss me. mechanics and on-line forums identify possible causes for the stalling as 1. a defective (ecm) electronic control modules; 2. shorts in the wiring harness; 3. sparks plugs; 4. egr valve; 5. ignition coil; 6. pcv valve; 7. transmission solenoid pack. there are no diagnostic codes stored in the obd-ii system. one school of thought is that 2007 jeep grand cherokee and commanders equipped with the 5.7 l hemi engine are extremely sensitive to radio frequency interference from the waste spark on the coil. as other complaints have noted, this is an obvious and persistent problem with jeeps equipped with the hemi engine, and chrysler has turned a deaf ear to the complaints. perhaps they are waiting for the fatalities to occur. why nhtsa hasn't done more to order a recall is beyond my comprehension. the problem has been reported on for years with no action taken by chrysler. this jeep is, for lack of a better word, a deathtrap. at best it cannot be trusted, it is unsafe and unreliable. at worst it is an accident waiting to happen! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning on numerous occasions. the contact stated that the vehicle was placed in the neutral position in most cases to keep the vehicle from losing power completely. on other occasions, the contact pulled to the right side of the road and the vehicle lost power. the vehicle was taken to sherman dodge chrysler jeep ram in skokie, illinois where the following series of repairs were performed on the vehicle: the oxygen sensor was replaced along with the spark plugs, the fan clutch, coil #6, a drive control module, throttle control module, fuel injection service, decarbonization service to combustion chamber, and upper intake to the vehicle but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

Shortly after changing the spark plugs in my wife's 2007 grand cherokee overland the vehicle would stall on deceleration. i thought it might be an isolated incident, but the stalling continued frequently. the engine completely shuts down and the vehicle must be stopped or put in neutral while coasting to be restarted. after conducting some internet research i found this to be a common problem with the 2007 grand cherokees with hemi's. i was amazed at the number of occurrences of this happening among this vehicle. there are jeep forums (http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/2007-jeep-grand-cherokee-overland-stalling-problem-1147825/) that discuss this issue in depth. the vehicle stalls less frequently than it did when i first changed the spark plugs, but it still happens. the most recent occurrence was on november 1, 2013 when my wife was picking my son up from school. chrysler corporation fails to take a stance on the problem denying that the problem exist. i have spoke to my local dealer's service department about the problem and they denied any knowledge of it. i would sale the vehicle, but in good conscience i could not do that to another individual. several dealerships have replaced the upper and lower wiring harnesses on several vehicles and this seems to have resolved the problem. again to restate the problem it seems to occur after the spark plugs are changed in the vehicles. this would lead one to believe that disturbing the position of the wiring harness effects the vehicle. chrysler no longer manufacturers that wiring harness, as they are on the third version of it. this in itself would lead you to believe that chrysler has some knowledge of a problem, but will not issue a recall or take any official position. my main concern is for my wife and children's safety while riding in this vehicle. i ask that you please take an in-depth look into this situation. *tr

I purchased the vehicle at the end of may 2012 engine light was on and had a due bill for work to be done, stalling was 1 of the issues. got it back with no check engine light on,but still stalled whenever hot or cold driving or in park. has been in and out of the shop for almost a year and it still stalls, jeep tech's cant figure it out. dies sometimes 3-4 times a day and once in awhile not at all, but on average 3-5 times a week, never throws a code or check engine light just dies like if i turn the key off. i have to stop or pull over put it in park turn the key all the way off and then restart, runs fine till the next stall which might be in a few minutes, hours or the next day!! very frustrated and don't feel safe at all!!about 3000 dollars of work has been done and still stalls. next thing to do jeep tech says replace wiring harness 2000 dollars..haven't done that yet hopefully something else can be done!!! pcm and plugs have been replace by jeep tech's among other things tried and it still stalls! *tr

Engine started stalling while coasting to stops and would occasionally stall while stopped. in time with higher mileage the engine started stalling at highway speeds also. no prior warning or dash warning lights would warn ahead of stall. eventually with higher mileage check engine light occasionally would come on while driving but wouldn't cause stalling problem. at 95,000 miles had dealer flash pcm per tsb 18-004-08 for code p0430, power flushed and cleaned engine fuel injection system. removed and cleaned throttle body on intake manifold and ensured proper minimum air flow settings, flushed combustion chamber to remove carbon deposits. tsb 18-004-08 resolved check engine light from coming on but still have stalling at idle or highway driving. engine performs as always with no prior warnings before stalls. *tr

My vehicle stalls while driving. it happens while at idle at a stop light, and it happens while at speed. it hasn't occurred yet at speeds above 45 mph. everytime it stalls, i get a oil pressure warning light. i occasionally receive a electronic throttle warning light as well. i also occasionally receive a electronic stability program (esp)/traction control system (tcs) indicator light when my power steering cuts off due to the engine stall. the problem always corrects itself upon shutting the key off, and restarting the vehicle. i have had it to the dealership, and they haven't been able to diagnose nor recreate the problem. fyi, i recently had my 5 year powertrain inspection done by the chrysler dealership, and my jeep passed with no noted issues. i have included a link to a website that shows many other people having similar problems with this vehicle. this vehicle is a safety hazard, and it needs to be recalled. here's the link to the website: http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2007/jeep/grand+cherokee/engine+and+engine+cooling+system. *tr

3.0 liter crd has had multiple problems from purchase to include air intake, oil systems, and seals. engine is unreliable and does not seem to last more than 5,000 miles before needing major repairs. based off of my experiences i believe the engine is faulty and can lead to safety issues while driving. in a 3 year period vehicle has been quoted as needing in excess of $20,000 in engine repairs. air intake clogs with oil. oil system leaks from multiple locations to include engine oil cooler, and intake runners. back engine oil seals leak. turbo clogs with engine oil. vehicle has 46,000 miles on it. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would stall. the dealer could not duplicate the failure. the failure was intermittent and would usually occur while making right turns. the contact brought the vehicle to the dealer again who stated that it needed a tune up. the vehicle was repaired by the contact, but the failure recurred. shortly after, the contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system). the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 35,000.

When turning left or right at slow speed the engine rpm drop from about 600 rpm to 300 or 400 rpm and then stalls. this happened 11 time in 2010 and then final disappeared. it now happen in 4 times since 24 march 2014. twice it happened in northern nj as i tried to enter the garden state parkway, once in a shiopping mall and two weeks ago as i was turn off the main road into my street. recently i have written the dealer where i purchased the vehicle explaining the problem but i have never received even an acknowledgement. i was told by chrysler customer service that i would have to have an expensive analysis done. when this was done in 2010 they could not find anything. i was told they had to see it happen. i had it happen 1000 ft from their facility, but they refused see the vehicle unless it was towed. i feel that this is a very dangerous situation especially when it occurs turning on to a high speed highway. *tr

Since the first event the vehicle has stalled at the most importuned time. two years ago it stalled twice while entering the new jersey garden state parkway on the same day. a year ago it stalled at 40 miles per hour traveling north on university blvd 100 ft from the dealer kelly jeep dealership were the vehicle was purchased. i was made aware in july 2014 that there was an ignition key problem. by a local auto body repair shop owner. i remove everything from key except a small lightweight identification plastic tag a month ago it stalled again which turning onto high speed four lange expressway. i have contact a different dealer three months go and was told chrysler is working on the problem. this is a very dangerous situation. i can't believe that in almost a year chrysler still appears to have not inkling of owh to solve the problem prior to the public announcement in sept 2014 i had it to the dealer and was required to have vehicle tested by the analyzer. no problem was found. even though i am 90 years old i still have sufficient strength to get the vehicle to a stop and if possible to the side of the highway in order to restart it. but i am afraid that if this happens with my wife while driving she will not be have sufficient strength to steer of brake the vehicle when it losses complete power. how is this any different than the accidently operation of the ignition key event that has occurred with general motor products. last we i received a recall notice from chrysler regarding the need to re-program the final drive control module (fdcm), that may cause the service $wd light to be activated making it impossible to change gears. i do not see that listed as a recall and i have never received any other notice. his apparently has a higher priority at chrysler than the ignition key issue. regards,
