We have classified the 153 complaints from 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
The first incident happened when my jeep grand cherokee unknowingly shifted into neutral while driving down my neighborhood road. i was not aware of this until i tried to increase my speed and was not able to. i then had to turn off the car and turn it back on. this has happened three times since 2011. *tr
Car will decelerate, and will not respond to depressing of the accelerator pedal. occurs at various speeds and traffic conditions. contacted dealership, began to describe issue, without describing the make and model, and the repair-shop was able to then tell me the make and model of my vehicle without me previously disclosing. (already had gear shift module replaced once before, and since the issue occurred 14 months later, dealership refuses to cover expense of replacement.) this is a very dangerous issue, and as stated before, occurs at various times and traffic conditions, and there are no preceding warnings or other indicators that foreshadow the occurrence. car is now at 42,000 miles, yet it is in need of a 3rd shift module, seems highly unlikely. dealership needs to declare a recall or when the customer has the problem, they fix it without further expense to the consumer. i bought this jeep new, and its my 4th one, however, i am extremely disappointed with their customer service, and the quality of vehicle they are producing, and will not ever purchase their vehicles again. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee laredo. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. both the dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic for diagnostics. the mechanic found that there was an incorrect gear ratio and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for repairs. no repairs were performed. the current mileage was 37,600 and the approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
Originally having issues slowing down going around corners and up a steep incline. felt like vehicle was staying in higher gear, you could down shift it manually. at that time there were no codes present in the system. then last year in august 2011 we did a cross county trip (7000 miles) vehicle would stall at both low speed and high speeds, not every day. sometimes vehicle would restart itself and others the key had to be removed and reinserted, but most times not. the weather did not seem to be a factor. upon return vehicle had approx 45,000 miles, codes retreived from vehicle were multiple. active codes: b2105, c121c pending code: p0524 stored codes p0129, p0688, p0884. at 35,000 miles new oem spark plugs and water pump (due to coolant leak) with new antifreeze. vehicle is serviced regularly every 3,000 miles since new. since 45,000 miles all related circuits and components have been inspected and checked for proper operation. new crank sensor and electrical ignition switch. code b2105 keeps recurring even without stall. all wiring connections and grounds have been cleaned and checked, new battery at 36,000. had vehicle to dealer and they said they may not be able to find problem. we have stopped driving this vehicle even though we are still paying for it because we feel that it is not safe. my husband has 40 years as certified automotive mechanic and is very frustrated with this vehicle. *tr
The "shifter module" is clearly defective and is a serious safety hazard. my wife and kids were in the car when it first starting acting up. luckily, they were just leaving the driveway and no other cars were coming down the street. the transmission malfunctioned. on the instrument cluster "transmission overtemp" was flashing, and all of the other warning lights illuminated on the cluster. when i brought the car to my local dealer, a parts representative told me that he has had to replace so many of these shifter modules that he's memorized the part # (not kidding). he told me that they are aware of the problem and that their shop swaps out the defective jeep shifter modules with mercedes shifter modules. unfortunately, this repair cost me well over $1000.00. bottom line - my wife drives this car around town. i don't have a tow hitch, and i pamper this car. still, jeep refused to reimburse me for this costly repair. i have called chrysler about this, but chrysler will not acknowledge this defective part. yet, on reputable auto forums, many other owners have complained about the same exact shifter module defect. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) *tt
Driving at highway speed in drive, transmission downshifted into 4th gear without manual assistance. pulled over to side of road and attempted to shift back into drive unsuccessfully. i then shifted into park and back into drive. dashboard indicator said the transmission remained in 4th even though the shifter was in drive. shut vehicle off and then restarted the engine. i then put the vehicle into drive and resumed my trip. also, on a second occasion, driving with transmission in drive, starting from a stop, transmission downshifted into 1st gear. pulled over and shut off engine and restarted. put transmission into drive and resumed trip with no further problem. *tr
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) re: 2007 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4x4 problem: dangerous shifter module defect to whom it may concern: last week, my wife was bringing our children to school, and upon leaving the driveway, the transmission jumped, the car jerked back dangerously into the open street, and all of the lights illuminated on the dash (p, n, r, d). fortunately for us, she was able to return the car to the drivway, unharmed. living on a busy street, we are very lucky that it happened without any accident/injury. as this is the second time something like this has happened, i am now afraid to let her drive this car any longer, upon contacting jeep/chrysler, i was told that they would not be able to cover this safety repair (approx. cost is $1025.oo w/tax,parts,labor). i am downright frustrated, angry, and fearful. after reading scores of ofher similar complaints about the shifter module on reputable sites like edmunds.com, my frustration with chrysler has increased. they simply won't concede that there is a dangerous safety flaw with the shifter in the vehicle. please, any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee 4x4. while the contact was driving approximately 65 mph, the entire instrument panel illuminated intermittently. the vehicle suddenly began to decelerate. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing on two occasions for the similar failure. the technician stated the problem could possibly be contributed to the esm or either the pcm. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000. the vin was unavailable.
I own a 2007 jeep grand cherokee v6 2wd and other owners across the us (thousands of them) with years ranging 2005-2007 report problems with the electronic shift module. this goes out in the middle of driving (sometimes on the highway) and will cause the vehicle to stall out in the middle of the road without warning. i have had mine replaced twice now and have only owned my jeep for 1 1/2 years (bought it brand new). this happened in march 2009 and again january 2010. *tr
My daughter was driving her 2007 grand cherokee away at college. several times as she was driving along the roads with traffic, the transmission seemed to go neutral and all gear indications lit circled as though it was in all gears, but was not "driving". when it finally kicked back into gear it accelerated quickly. she had to break and pull over several times this happened. we had the car towed to a dealership and they replaced an electronic module. this could be a deadly failure. two dealerships' service departments i have asked have heard of it but say it isn't a widespread problem, a sales manager where we bought it claims never to have heard of this. *tr
Today while driving on a highway at approximately 35-40mph my vehicle stalled. i had come to a complete stop and was awaiting a traffic light change. when the light changed and i stepped on the accelerator the vehicle began to hesitate and jerk and the esp/bas light, malfunction indicator light (check engine) and a message stating transmission over temp came on. i was in the left lane and immediately put on my flashers. the driver behind realized that i was in trouble and put on his as well. after i was able to roll to the shoulder, i immediately turned the vehicle off. after waiting approximately 5mins, i restarted the vehicle and continued to drive slowly and carefully to my office since i was just 2 blocks from work. this experience scared me because had this happened while i was driving at the 60-65 mph rate on this very busy highway, i could have been hurt. after reading several of the other complaints, i can also relate to the complaint about the tires having had to replace a broken stem after owning the vehicle only 2 days and i currently still have water leaking into my vehicle on raining days on the passenger side and now through the lights. i drive on the highway daily and after today's stall out, i am afraid to drive this vehicle. i called the dealership today and explained my issues and told the service manager about all of the lights and he told me the car was probably cold and if the lights don't go out i can bring it in on saturday. well today is wednesday and i will not drive that car again. since the dealership is quite a distance from my home, i will have the car towed so that it can be checked out. i am very uncomfortable with the idea of ever driving this vehicle again. i transport children as part of my job from time to time and i could never forgive myself if something was to happen to them while we are riding in this vehicle. *tr
Jeep 2007 loses power when driving... gear module is faulty.. dropped from 55 mph to 0 ...electrical working fine.. something is wrong.. avoided a fatal accident on the highway.. *tr
I write this only because i just experience my fourth mechanical breakdown in three years. in december 2009, i experienced the first breakdown in what has become a string of malfunctions. the transmission on my 2007 grand cherokee laredo gave out at about 40,000 miles. when trying to start the vehicle, i got a 'transmission overheat' message on the dash display along with the engine malfunction indicator. i took it to the dealership where i purchased it and it took nearly a month for the repair shop to locate, receive and install the necessary parts. apparently supply and demand had something to do with it, indicating to me that this was an issue nationwide. a month later, another malfunction, this time, the electronic shift module (esm) had died. just over a year later, the same component (esm) died again (of course just out of warranty), this time while i was driving along rt. 50 outside of dc. now, less than six months later, with less than 40,000 on the already replaced transmission, my transmission has blown again - same 'transmission overheat' message, same engine malfunction light, same undrivability. clearly from seeing the comments on this forum as well as other reputable sites such as edmunds and consumer reports, the 2007 grand cherokee laredo has a long, long history of mechanical and electronic problems. i have a phone call scheduled with a case worker scheduled for tomorrow, 7/13/2012. they'll either make it right or i'll be taking my story to small claims court. i encourage everyone who's had issues with this model to do the same.
I was driving along at 70 mph in the number one lane when the motor just quit. i had to change over three lanes to get to side so i would be safe. there large trucks in the number two and thee lanes which caused me concern for my safety. the crankshaft sensor was defective causing the incident. i feel there should have been a recall because the sprinter uses the same engine which has been recalled for the same reason. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee laredo. the contact stated as he started the vehicle, he noticed fluids leaking from the transmission. the dealer replaced the plugged adapter guide bushing to correct the failure. at 29,500 miles, the contact was driving 20 mph and attempting a right turn when the transmission slipped and the vehicle would not accelerate over 10 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the console shift was repaired. at 34,500 miles, the failure recurred and the vehicle would not accelerate over 30 mph. all four transmission gear selector warning lights were illuminated. the vehicle was drivable yet the check engine warning light remained illuminated. the dealer advised that the software would need an update to correct the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 27,000 and the current mileage was 34,600. updated 11/16/10*bf the consumer stated the vehicle is still not shifting properly and stays in first gear too long. updated 11/16/10*jb
Upon driving on the highway, i felt my vehicle's transmission change gears, which felt like neutral. my car slowed a bit but then sped back up, and then slowed again and sped back up. i then noticed the p, r, n, d were all lit up. i had no control over my vehicle's acceleration when this occurred. after i brought my car to the dealership, i was told the electronic shift module had to be replaced. after replacing it, three months later it occurred again, and was replaced again. over the last 1.5 years it has occurred randomly, over and over, and now needs to be replaced again. this is a safety issue as the driver has no control over the vehicle's speed. jeep knows about this issue but refuses to acknowledge that a recall needs to be issued, therefore making their customers continue to pay for the repairs. a recall needs to issued.
Own a 2007 jeep grand cherokee 4x4, bought 4 mths ago, i can be driving it down a road and all the sudden it loses power like an acceleration problem, then it will suddenly just take off very quickly, the transmission keeps slipping, i can be on the interstate going 65, take my foot off the gas to slow down some and hear a harsh shifting problem. i have taken it to the dealership 3 different times, each time they tell me there is no problem with the car, i agree with the other complaints on these issues which i have had them all in 4 mths. windows get stuck and won't roll up and down, car has not started 3 times and had to put in a new starter, crazy dangerous acceleration, shifting issues with the transmission!!!!!!!! i have owned a 1995 jeep cherokee since 2003 and no problems, got this one and problem after problem. this acceleration/ shifting issue is going to kill someone if this car isn't recalled for this problem!!!!! *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. while the vehicle was parked and turned off, a child crossed over the driver's seat to exit the vehicle. he held the gear shift to support himself, which caused the vehicle to shift into drive. the vehicle sped down a hill and crashed into a tree. there were no injuries and a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to an auto body shop and the mechanic stated that the cable went into the shifting gear, which caused the vehicle to shift into gear without the key in the ignition. the body of the vehicle was repaired, but not the gear shift. the vehicle is still at the auto body shop. the contact would like someone from chrsyler to inspect the vehicle. the vin was unknown. the failure and current mileages were 43,000.
While pulling out of a gas station into heavy traffic, i began accelerating to the speed limit of 45 mph. i was accelerating rapidly as traffic was coming quickly from behind. the jeep stopped accelerating and the instrument panel showed all of the drive letters with boxes around them. the jeep would not accelerate for over 20 seconds, causing me to rapidly pull off of the road to avoid traffic behind me. the dealer found a faulty electronic shift module and replaced it. the vehicle has worked well until 2/15/12. at 70,000 miles, the dealer installed module has failed again. once more this happened when entering a heavy traffic roadway. there have been numerous reports throughout the internet of people experiencing this same issue. in my case, both failures resulted in me having to take evasive action to avoid a collision. i find it hard to believe that this seemingly common problem has not been identified as the tremendous safety problem it . *tr
While driving 60 mph down busy road the engine died, when accelerator was pressed there was no power, dash went completely dark. pulled to the side of the road and the vehicle would not go into park. after several tries it could be restarted. the shift control module has already been replaced due to previous problems. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that she suddenly lost the ability to accelerate after the shift indicator light illuminated. the contact stopped the vehicle and restarted. she was able to accelerate for a few seconds before she lost the ability to accelerate again and the check engine light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the electronic shift module was replaced at that time. the contact stated that in october 2010, the failure occurred again. the electronic shift module was being replaced again. the contact called the manufacturer who offered to pay for the cost of the part. the current mileage was approximately 53,200. the failure mileage was approximately 31,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the gear shift control module was not working properly. the gear shift would not shift into gear at any speed. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the failure mileage was 37,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. while driving various speeds, the gear would shift into neutral. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the electronic shift module failed. the part needed to make the repair was on back order. on a separate occasion, while driving less than 60 mph, the vehicle shifted into neutral again without the actual gear shifter being moved. the contact's vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle, which caused minor damages to her vehicle. there were no injuries. the current and failure mileages were less than 20,600.
While driving down the highway at approximately 65 mph, the transmission shifted into neutral. the gas pedal would not accelerate the car. the car had to be pulled to the shoulder amidst traffic and turned off, then turned back on before the car would accelerate again. this same scenario has occurred several times since. this poses a significant safety hazard for our family! *tr
I have been to the dealer 3 times for this issue. first it was my prnd lights would all light up at the same time and my acceleration would not work. then my check engine light would come on and go off again after a few starts. now the check engine light is on and the code is u0404 which i am told is the shifter/electronic control module. while searching this i have found hundreds of owners with the same problem, all right after their warranty ran out. i went to the dealer while still under warranty and it was not found now that i am 900 mil;es past warranty they know what it is. i feel if this many owners have the same problem it should be recalled. i completely lost acceleration while on the highway twice and was almost rear ended. *tr
The transmission in my 2007 jeep grand cherokee laredo started clunking loudly when i shifted from reverse into drive. the service engine light will come on after this occurs. the problem was intermittent, then, one day i was sitting at a red light. when it turned green, i stepped on the gas pedal and the vehicle would not move. it acted as if was in park. i shifted it to park and back into drive several times and suddenly the vehicle slammed into gear lunged forward into traffic. i reported this problem to my dealership (the vehicle is under warranty) who told me no codes registered in relation to the service engine light having been on and that they could not duplicate the problem. they returned the vehicle to me and two days later the same transmission clunking began and the service engine light came on. i left a red light today and the vehicle would not shift from first gear into second. finally, it shifted, slamming into gear, with a loud, hard clunk that shot my vehicle several feet ahead. i almost lost control of the vehicle and would have had an accident if a car had been ahead of me. it's back at the dealership who claims there's nothing wrong. the car has only 21,000 miles on it. clearly, there is something wrong and i fear for my safety and cannot simply go buy another vehicle. *tr
09/29/2008 jeep taken to garage for head light failure nothing found. 03/09/2012 to 11/07/2012 all indicator light flash exterior lights flash. been to the dealership three times for numerous days at a time they can not find anything wrong still having this problem. really not good when it is dark out and you don't have headlights. at 15,000 and 35,000 i had to have the shift modular replaced because all the car would basically go in to neutral when being driven. i would have to pull over and turn the car off and restart it. the first time it was at the dealership for three days they could not find a problem and sent it home only to have to return 2 days later with the same problem. as i have found many people on line with these same issues makes you wonder first why these issues can't seem to be fixed, second why there has not been a recall. it is truly a miracle that no one i have heard of has been injured or killed because of these defects. when the jeep is working i love it. if i had a hope and a pray of getting a new vehicle i would trade in my paid off jeep in a heart beat so that i wouldn't have to constantly worry that it stop running or that i will be driving blind in the dark. sadly i didn't even touch on the other electrical issues i.e. window that had to be fixed remote keyless issues it is sad that the company doesn't do anything about these things this will be my last jeep. i feel that these problems are dangerous for me, my family and anyone that is on the road with me and other jeep owner with the same issues.
The engine stalls while at low speeds shortly after start-up. no engine diagnostic lights are present to aid in the troubleshooting. the car has stalled under the low speed conditions 5 times since purchase. the car currently has 27,000 miles. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shifted into neutral independently. the vehicle was stopped each time and had to be restarted before the vehicle could operate as designed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer on three occasions where various parts were replaced and software updates were performed however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 103,000.
My vehicle stalls without notice losing power but not actually shutting off. at other times it acts like it is hanging in 1st gear. on numerous occasions it has nearly gotten me hit by oncoming traffic or nearly rearended. i have had it checked out 3 times by the dealer and they say they are aware of the problem but no recall has been issued by chryler to fix problem. i have a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. *tr
There have been several people with the 2007 wk crd that have reported that their vehicle has died on them while driving. reading about this on jeep forum, i discovered that there is a tsb related to a faulty crankshaft position sensor on wk jeeps that were built before june 12th, 2007. my jeep was built in april, 2007. while my jeep has not stalled, it is my wife's vehicle and she is frequently transporting our two children. the tsb calls for checking and replacing the sensor if it fails, but i do not find this to be acceptable. if the vehicle were to just die while they were going down the highway it could result in serious injuries to my wife and kids. i believe that chrysler should do a recall to replace this sensor before anyone gets hurt. *tr
Driveline vibration on my 2007 jeep grand cherokee at highway speeds. *tr
I started the vehicle and started driving when the vehicle would not go faster than 20mph and felt like stalling out. on the dashboard it show that the vehicle was in p,r,n,and d all at the same time (circles around the letters). i call a jeep dealership and they told me if the engine light didn't come on there's on code, so they can't fix it. jeep also told me they never heard of this problem. *tr
I purchased a new 2007 jeep grand cherokee 9/27/07 from tarbox jeep in n. kingstown, ri the day i took delivery the jeep had several problems the front windows did not work properly, the tail gate was not lighting up properly and i was getting a vibration through out the jeep when driving over 45 mph. i informed the sales man the next day of the defects in the jeep i brought the jeep in to be serviced and to have the repairs done on 11/6/07 the tail gate was fixed as best as they could but still defective the front power window's were also corrected how ever the vibration has not been resolved they replaced the drive shaft, they also removed the transmission and replaced the torque converter that still did not correct the problem. they know believe it needs a new downloag to the transmission control modular but that will not be ready for at least 2 weeks and they do not know if that will correct the problem and they are insisting i take back the jeep on 11/16/07 i feel the jeep might be a safety hazard to drive due to tarbox not know what the problem is i have called chrysler and i am in need of help i drive about 600 miles each week and do not feel safe driving the jeep in the correct condition. i have had a rental car for 10 days going on 11 days. i could use some help on this matter. *tr
I have had this vehicle to the multiple dealerships since i owned it. there is a two second delay when you push down on the accelerator. dealerships can't find anything wrong. i replaced the catalytic converters, 4wd module. every light comes on, check engine, check gas cap etc. it now gets horrible gas mileage and the transmission stopped working. this has been a lemon since day one and jeep refuses to correct the situation. it is at the dealership now. *tr
2007/ 30 000 miles. shifter malfunctions intermittently and causes loss of acceleration by going neutral or sticking in 1st gear unexpectedly. typically, all the letters are lift prnd simultaneously and check engine light comes on. stopping and restarting (annoying and dangerous in highway driving) seems to reset the shifter. dealer says esm part no 52124138ad is responsible for the problem. i believe for safety reasons, there should be a recall on this part before somebody gets killed as a sitting duck in the middle of the highway. *tr
Check engine light continues to come on at random. when it does, problems accelerating. car will not accelerate past 20 or sometimes car "sputters" jerking a lot. sometimes at red lights, rail road crossings, anything really where the car is stopped, car will not resume driving and car sounds like it is in neutral and i am reving it up. electronic dash puts a bracket over each gear, p r n d, all at once. when engine light is on it is on for a period of days. when i turn the car on and put it in to drive it makes the most horrible sound as if i backed into a wall and jerks. sometimes on the highway when the light is on it's as if i smell something burning through my air vents. everytime i take it to the dealer or any shop just for a diagnosis it's just my luck that the light turns off and they tell me my car is fine. this car needs to be recalled from looking at the complaints!!! *tt
I recently leased a new 2007 jeep grand cherokee 3.7 l , 6 cylinders. this was the second time in less than a month that the vehicle stalled while driving at highway speed 50 mph) and local speed 30 mph. the vehicle suddenly lost power and could not be driven at more than 20 mph, and the indicator gauges seem ed stuck in place. also, the vehicle shut off when making a sharp turn into a parking space at work. the first incident occurred on a major highway in new york city ,and my fear was that another vehicle would rear end my vehicle. we had the vehicle towed to the original purchasing location at additional costs to us, and they stated that the problem was related to the shift controller, transmission not sending the proper signal for it to shift properly. they told us they would replace the solenoid, and it should be fine. this was less than a month ago, and now my wife was unwilling to drive the vehicle for fear of being stuck in traffic or being involved in an accident. i will be taking the vehicle back to the dealer on 7/9/07. any additional information you could provide to address this problem was greatly appreciated. i will also contact daimler/chrysler corporate headquarters in the morning.*ak
2007 jeep grand cherokee limited, 4.7 engine, vibration at highway speeds between 60 and 75 mph. dealership has replaced both driveshafts which helped some. goodyear replaced on goodyear fortera hl tire which was out of round. this helped some as well. still there is a vibration (shudder) throughout the vehicle at the speeds mentioned prior. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle began to lose speed. the contact stated that the vehicle was serviced for the transmission control. two days after replacing the transmission control, the shifter and transfer case failed. the manufacturer is aware of the failure and stated that they would investigate it further. the contact was advised to call nhtsa. the powertrain was unknown. the current mileage was 9,901 and failure mileage was 3,652.
Car simply stalls - in intersections, on roadway for no reason. drive train, fluid leaks car is unsafe. *tr
While driving, the prndl had lit boxes around all the letters, and dash indicators all lit up, and jeep lost power as if stalling. it then "went" back into drive on its own. this happened over eleven times, with mileage starting at 1,186, and most recently at 52,536. dates of repair incidents are : 2/12/07, 12/31/07, 1/10/08, 9/22/08, 1/5/09, 6/9/09, 6/18/12, 10/19/12, 12/26/12, 3/8/13, 3/22/13. my jeep is a 2007, averaging 8,756 miles per year. i bought it new and i take very good care of all maintenance right away - oil changes, filters, tire rotation, etc.! each time it was brought to the dealer for "repair" , they either couldn't find the problem, or replaced : shifter module (twice), transmission wiring harness (three times) and suggested a new battery (we replaced that also), and transmission plug and seal. there were also numerous "software and anti-theft updates. in addition to these, i replaced the driver's side window regulator twice. now, they want to replace the "transmission temp circ." and esm module - for another $1,500.00 . all this in 52,536 miles and 6 years !!! i firmly believe there are serious manufacturer defects with this vehicle. my biggest concern is the safety of this jeep is unpredictable. i never know, even after all the "repairs and replacements" , if it will suddenly lose power and i might be in danger (traffic, intersection, etc.). how in the world could chrysler deny this problem? it needs to be resolved at the source, they are responsible for the safety of their vehicles !!!! there are many reports of this same issue from numerous 2007 jeep owners - where is the recall ???!!!! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee 4x4. the contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the transmission did not shift gears properly and had a substantial delayed response. the contact also stated that the vehicle jerked violently. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was shut down and restarted; the vehicle functioned as normal. the failure occurred intermittently at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to both an authorized dealer and independent auto shop for diagnosis. the technicians were unable to duplicate or locate the malfunction. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 500.
Jeep accelerates then at about 15-20mph it wont accelerate any more and boxes will appear around the p n r d and then it will all of a sudden jerk forward and the check engine light will go on. *tr
I purchased a 2007 jeep grand cherokee in august of 2006. 11/11/06 this is the second time the automatic shift stick has malfunctioned and would not go into park. the jeep has e remote starting feature with a safety that will lock the shift lever in place until the key is inserted into the ignition. this locking mechanism is what keeps breaking. we currently have 4700 miles on this vehicle. the dealership has fixed the shifter both times at no charge, but i certainly don't plan on having to replace this every 2500 miles. they need a design change. *jb
