Fuses keep coming lose and causing abs to go off when you start off to drive and other error msgs to light up. push back down and its good for a while.
My brakes lock on me when driving or stopping my engine shakes and raddled when stopped at a light or parked
Abs eas and traction controll warning lights on again with service 4wd system message after completing 1st recall, vehicle was just started and put in to drive acceleration to 12 mph causes bad grinding noise and loss of power just about enough to get you in to the middle of an intersection very dangerous then it seems to catch and regains power the warning lights stay on and you can drive it all day with no issues but as soon as you turn it off and back on it will do it again.
I have did a tune up and cleaned the oil my check engine light is still on and check gas cap won't go away after numerous times of changing it my wheels and struts are damaged
Traction control kicks on for 5-30 seconds at various speeds and road conditions. it has come on going 80mph, come on from a stop, going 30 mph on a city street. not sure if that is why brakes exploded and broke apart. all tires same size.
Brakes "exploded". no prior warning, squeal, nothing. have had them checked at dealership only a few months ago. same size tires. going down city street, loud popping sound, then short grinding sound. sounded like back right rear tire. had car towed to mechanic who stated that spring had broken, caught brake cable, and everything came off in pieces "shards of metal"
My ignition switched off disabling mostly everything on the vehicle. this was all while doing 75 mph on the interstate. i love jeep but they to get this fixed.
When i'm driving while in motion in a straight line all of a sudden my dash lights flicker and my ac stutters on and off and then all power stops and my brakes more or less lock up but not all the way but the engine still runs .... i'm not sure if the windows stop working or not but its been happening a few times and it seems like its going to need a tow truck but when i pull over off the highway and turn it off and restart it resets its self my jeep only has 78,000 miles on it because it was sitting in storage for 6 years while i was out of the states so it did not get driven and the dealership took it and changed all belts fluids and gave it a checkup before i drove it again
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. while driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power, the anti-lock brakes failed, and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact stated that the anti-lock brake and check engine warning indicators illuminated. at times, the contact was able to turn the ignition off and on and the vehicle would either restart immediately or operate normally after a few minutes. the vehicle was taken to ch urness chrysler, jeep, dodge, ram in dalles, or (541)-296-2284, where a diagnostic test was completed, but there was uncertainty of the failure codes. the contact believed an ignition code was present, but no repairs were completed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
After the dealer repaired recall p41/nhtsa 14v-438: loss engine power, power brake assist seat belt and air condition failure. the problem always in motion. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 45 mph, the abs and passenger side air bag light illuminated. the brake pedal became difficult to depress and required excessive force. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a previous recall on nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 135,645.
Recall p41- having symptoms as described in recall , loss of power steering , braking and engine power on 3 occasions, while traveling a slow speed approx 20mph and turning on city street.. local dealership has a waiting list of 4 months to fix problem

Received the recall notice and contacted porterville chrysler. despite the recall notice about increased risk of occupant injury as well as the potential to cause a collision without warning, they said they had no parts to replace the ones causing the issue, and they had no idea when they would. they claim to have had parts on order for over a year but none have been received and that they could not help me out by complying with the recall notice.
I was driving to work down an incline/hill on 9/2, there was traffic ahead, the engine shut off and the breaks locked. i pulled the e-break and swerved off the side of the road, luckily without any crash. i was able to restart the vehicle but had a tow truck tow it to my local mechanic who verified there was no problem with the breaks, and notified me of the recall p41 on the ignition switch which can cause the engine to shut off and power steering and breaks to lock while driving. the jeep dealership told me not only are the parts not available but they don't know when they will be available and they can't diagnose this as the problem without replicating the problem. this is a known issue so it is unclear to me why the issue would have to be replicated. i have a baby and do not want to drive this car, as recommended by jeep customer service and the dealership, and risk accident to myself or others until the part is in and fixed. i can't believe jeep would ask me to continue driving this vehicle not only knowing there is a risk but an actual problem. i think it's fair that jeep provide me with a safe alternative form of transportation in the meantime.
While driving the ignition turns off, the interior instruments don't work, the brakes, make a noise, the steering get hard to turn. when i turn the key back to the right everything comes back on. occurred at least 5 times over last few months. have been reported to dealership twice, who says dodge is dragging their feet with recall ignition switches. have complained to dodge who says i have to brig it to the dealership for diagnosis and i may have to pay for it. but i have a recall notice on the part.
Going 40 mph the all lights on dashboard came on, the radio shut off, the abs brakes made a noise then everything on dashboard went out. check engine light came on & the gas gage didn't work you couldn't tell how fast you were going ,the air conditioner quit & engine stopped, the vehicle was hard to steer & the brakes were manual & then engine started again. i turned the car off & turned it back on & the check engine light is on & the dashboard seems to work again. this has happened 2 times within 3 days. i am renting a vehicle cause i'm too afraid to drive the vehicle. there is a recall on this vehicle for the ignition switch with all the same vehicle loss of engine power, power steering & braking assist but it doesn't include the dashboard lights coming on & the dealers say it is not the same thing. the ignition switch recall came out in july 2014 & to date they have not provided any dealerships with the replacement parts. how can jeep say it is not the same problem if they won't replace the recalled ignition switch to find out?
While driving my vehicle, the a/c, dash, and power steering shut down. additionally, this casuea the brakes to lock up. this is a direct issue with the ignition. when the key is in the "on" position, the vehicle acts as if it were in the "off" position. this issue has put me in multiple situations where i feared an accident was imminent. i called my local jeep dealership which informed me that the replacement part was not yet available. i was encouraged to call chrysler's main office to get an update. they advised me that it was not yet available and that their recommendation was to not drive my vehicle until the recall was available. this vehicle is my only means of transportation, so that is not an option for me. the recall for this part was issued 9/3/14, it is now 6/9/15 and the recalled part still cannot be replaced.
My car ignition inadvertently turned off and disabling power steering, brake etc. this resulted in the driver not being able to control the keep. the jeep rolled down the hill and hit the car behind and damaging both the cars and injuring one of the passengers in the car behind.
This is not the first time this has happened since i purchased the jeep in 2009 but it was the most significant one. all lights went off inside & out. there was some problem with the steering & the braking also. the motor did not die nor did the a/c or radio go off. when this happens all the warning lights flash a few times & for a few seconds i loose all the lights & experience the braking & steering problems. i did receive the recall notice for the ignition switch in september, 2014 stating that they were trying to get the parts for repair but i have not heard anything else from chrysler. this is the only vehicle that i have and at this point i am afraid to drive any distance. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle jerked forward without warning. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. in addition, the contact stated that the hydraulic service brake warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 13v175000 (electrical system, power train) and 07v434000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the failure mileage was 78,000.
I have a recall that says that the ignition switch can change position while i am driving causing the car to cut off while driving. this can cause a loss in engine power, powere steering, braking assistance and possible failure of air bags causing an accident. the incident that i describe above occurred on interstate 85. i beleive that was what happened as i was able to coast off the raod to an exit. sat for a while trying to fiqure out what was wrong finally after a while the car started back up and i got to my destination. after reading the article and looking up my vin number which shows this recall i beleive that is what happended. this recall has been pending for more than a year and chrysler still says they don't hav the parts to fix it.the chrysler recall # is 14v-438.
I was driving my 2006 jeep grand cherokee approximately 30 mph and applied the brake pedal. without warning the brakes hesitated when depressed, the pedal went mushy, i had no braking control and the abs started cycling like i was on a patch of ice. this lasted for approximately 10-15 seconds. the esp, abs, check engine, and traction control indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. after the dash lights illuminated the brakes worked but abs and traction control did not. i periodically have instances where the brakes cycle on various wheels, i assume this is the abs cycling the brakes. after a period of time ranging from hours to a couple days, the affected instrument panel warning lights go out and the whole process starts over again within a few seconds to minutes. the first time the car was taken to the dealer they said it threw off to many error codes to troubleshoot. the dealer cleared the codes and asked me to return when it happened again. i just returned the car the second time. the car is unsafe to drive in this condition. *tr
2006 jeep grand cherokee last 8 of vin 6c[xxx] vehicle running and driving - all brake warning lights came on and cruise quit working. brakes seemed to be working. mechanic reset to turn warning lights off. a code was not set. approximately 2 weeks later it reoccurred. searched for recall and found recall this year model but jeep dealer said there was no recall on this model mfg date 09/05 ....parked vehicle for fear of accident. *js

The dash lights started flickering, then the brakes locked up and the jeep just lost power and turned off. this was the first time that the jeep's brakes locked up and lost power and this is enough to cause alarm and resulted with this complaint. i will not wait for a second time that the vehicle's brakes lock up and turns itself off at a more dangerous highway situation on a busy traffic and certainly not putting my family at this type of risk which is obviously a manufacturer's defect. [xxx], a customer service representative from jeep that i have spoken to advised that chrysler could possibly issue a recall if enough number of complaints were received from nhtsa. am i really supposed to wait until my family gets injured before something gets done with this known issue? the dash lights/gauges issue has been ongoing and jeep had been contacted a few years back to no avail. i also advised [xxx] (jeep rep) about all four handles breaking at the same time. i had to open the door from the outside to let my daughter and her friend get out of the backseat. these handles should not break at all due to it's normal use and purpose. i request your department to please investigate this obvious safety issue, and avoid any injuries that this defect could cause. thank you. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Driving on the highway and the entire dash board lit up, blank a few times, and then went dark. nothing on the dash board was working (no mph, gas gauge, etc.). after a few minutes of blinking and going dark, everything begins to work again, but the check engine light comes on. this exact scenario has happened multiple times. usually the light will stay on from anywhere between 1-5 days and then go away. i have been dealing with this issue for over a year. in once instance, i was driving around the city going 10-15 mph and this scenario happened and the brakes were not working properly and the car was very hard to turn. everytime i have brought the car to the dealer they try to pull a code and nothing is available for them. at this point i am fed up so i am officially reporting the issue. it is completely unsafe to be driving when this happens, especially when you are on the highway. let's hope something is officially done before anyone gets hurt. *tr
While driving jeep lost all power this has happened 4 times i took it back to dealer but they didn't find any thing this last time it was in a rear end accident so chrysler took it back to investigate the problem the dealer has had for a total of over 9 weeks and still don't have a answer for it i don't know what to do know can you help.
My pregnant wife has had this issue before with the car and we took it to the dealership without anyone being able to fix it. while driving between 15-60 mph the car completely shuts down. no power steering, brakes, or electrical. you have to throw it in neutral and start it back up. this has to be an electrical issue as other quirky things have been happening as well such as the headlights will flicker on and off and the volume and stations selectors on the steerwheel often do not work properly. this is an issue that jeep needs to identify and fix. very scary to be going 50-60 mph and lose control of your car going down the highway. over the past two days this has happened three times. i have done research online as well and there are plenty of other jeep owners that have this same issue. jeep needs to have a recall for this issue. i am shocked that this has not happened yet. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the esp, abs, check engine, and traction control indicators illuminated on the instrument panel intermittently. the failure occurred on three different occasions. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 54,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the fuel line had a hole in it and caused fuel to pour out. in addition, the brake transmission interlock system did not work. the vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 100,000.
I was driving on a busy road at night approaching a 4 way traffic light intersection. i was going approximately 35-40 mph and the road conditions were dry. suddenly the electric, lights, gauges, steering and braking system in my jeep began flickering and spasming like my jeeps entire electric system was having seizures and was switching power on and off. to the cars ahead of me it looked like i was flashing my lights and the cars behind me as if i was turning my lights on and off rapidly. i pulled off the road into a parking lot and my jeep continued to spasm and flicker on and off. i turned my vehicle off and let it sit in hopes that this issue was a one time electrical glitch and also because i couldn't safely drive it in this condition. i eventually started my vehicle again and began to drive thinking it was alright. within minutes it began doing the same thing again. my vehicle has continued to randomly exhibit this behavior along with additionally all the gauge lights and sounds blinking and chiming for several minutes at a time. i never know when it is going to happen but when it does it is extremely dangerous and scary to be in the vehicle. i only have my ignition key on the key ring but that doesn't seem to make any difference. i have noticed that my ignition switch is extremely sensitive even when initially starting the vehicle. *tr
While driving in normal dry conditions this past evening unexpectedly all my interior gauges and dash electronics started flickering on and off to include the radio, hazard lights and everything inside. at the same time i realized i was also loosing my exterior headlights and also brake control because my car was essentially running but with no electronics. it started making a weird grinding pulsating noise that would accompany the flickering lights. this forced me to exit the road at a gas station. it then stopped and i began driving again only to have it resume shortly. thankfully i was close to my destination and was able to shut the vehicle off for the night. this has happened occasionally in the past couple months during the day but this is my first night experience. i thought it was just a glitch but it is definitely getting worse and has become regular. the next morning i was able start and drive my vehicle to work and it repeated this behavior a couple more times. at days end i went to leave and now my jeep won't start and hasn't for two days. all the electronics come on but when i turn the key it just clicks. i also had this problem in the past but when my mechanic looked at it he was unable to duplicate the problem. *tr
For a few months now & without warning: the dashboard lights, tachometers, heater, and headlights flicker on/off, then go completely off. then if applying the brakes, there is a ferocious grinding noise and loss of steering. engine seems to slow down or not want to shift to next gear while driving. all this happens when there is flickering. seems to happen at random but getting worse. check engine light stays on for a day then disappears. i have video recording of these incidents. vehicle has been checked but "nothing reports" so i am told it cannot be repaired. *tr
While driving under completely normal conditions, several severe problems occurred simultaneously; interior dash lights started flashing on and off, vehicle started sputtering and became unresponsive when trying to accelerate, grinding sound from left front wheel accompanied the other problems further adding to the vehicle suddenly slowing down while in motion. all warning lights were lit up when flashing stopped, but then a couple of minutes later while i was trying to limp into a parking lot to get the car off the road the dash lights started wildly flashing on and off again and the car continued to be virtually unresponsive when stepping on the gas. after shutting the car off and restarting it, the esp/bas lights remained on for a couple of days, but eventually went out, but the check engine light remained on. the problem happened again on 3/29/2013 while i was driving under normal conditions. it was sudden, unexpected and scary. with the right set of circumstances, it could be devastating and extremely dangerous. once i started doing a bit of online research, i found many jeep forums packed full of owners with the identical model and year of my grand cherokee that are having the same grave issues. it is clearly very widespread for this particular vehicle, and then i found the arfc page and i was astounded at the numbers of owners of my year and model who have also had hair raising incidents who have described the exact set of problems that i have had. chrysler cannot ignore the massive numbers of people who are reporting the same defect issues. it is well beyond the realms of coincidence, and it is too dangerous to ignore. there needs to be a national factory recall asap before somebody gets killed. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the electronic stability program/brake assist system warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who reset the brake pressure sensor but to no avail. the contact stated that after retrieving the vehicle from the dealer, it began jerking and skidding when the contact applied the brakes. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 43,000.
Like others vehicle has stalled while at low speeds. at random times, took to my mechanic and he never could duplicate the problem. until, i took it there for an electrical problem and to check out the steering. while he was test driving the car, it stalled on him and still could never find the problem, my lights flicker on the inside, dash over head light all inside lights, at night when i have my lights on, till i turn them very low and still flickers but can't notice it as much, inside lights don't turn on at all when i try to switch them on as well. the air bag light has stayed and been on for a while, my mechanic ran a test on that as air bag is fine but light stays on. i know there where recalls so i called chrysler and they said my car does not qualify under any of the recalls. now my abs and esp/bas, traction control light are on. at first they came on while i was driving when went to slow down my breaks rattled, the lights came on then went off. now they have been on and won't turn off. and my cruise control stopped working as well same time. there seems to be nothing that comes up while running test and stuff. my car has 115756 miles on it and these problems keep happening. also when i start it the car ideals rough and when i'm stopped at a light tried and replaced parts and still does it. i love my jeep and would like to have these problems found out and fix i'm almost done paying it off and want to keep it but it scares me that it's could stall any moment randomly. *jb
At approx. 110k miles the esb, trac and bas indication lights came on and would not turn off. the dealership checked and said that the brake pressure sensor and steering angel sensors had to be replaced. *tr
My 2006 jeep grand cherokee lardeo has all the same issues as listed by every other jeep owner. the engine randomly shuts off while driving down the road, the dash board and headlights flicker on and off constantly. sometimes we start sometimes we dont. when pulling out into traffic , maybe it will go, maybe it wont. i have lost my brakes on several occasions as well. now the jeep sits in my driveway as it wont start at all, and of coarse nobody can tell me what is wrong with it as usual ! nothing like paying for a dead horse ! i have contacted the chrysler corporation only to be told these are not "safety" issues. good lord what does it take to get a decent vehicle that is safe and reliable ? i guess that would be not buying anything chrysler, dodge, jeep in the future is the route i will take ! i only hope when one of these ticking bombs fail, my family and friends arent on the road that day !
Starting in feb. 2012 the engine would quit running while driving. when the engine would quit we loose steering and braking. the vehicle starts right back up and is drivable. we would experience this problem once every 2-3 months. the frequency in which this is happening has increased with the latest incident occurring 3-18-15 while exiting the interstate and nearly avoiding a crash off the roadway. we received a recall notice from jeep (p41) but everytime we call they tell us the parts are not available. i have tried several times to contact jeep but am left on hold for over 40 minutes. can you please help us with this problem. *tr
Takata recall: i was in an accident with my 2006 grand cherokee. the accident was due to the ignition switch and the vehicle powering down while in drive, or in use. injuries were suffered due to the airbag's none deployment. after taking the vehicle to the dealer and attempting to have two recalls replaced, i was told there presently was no available fix, or replacement for recall p41. the vehicle was serviced in 2015 at fitzpatrick's chrysler jeep (430 e main street, ansonia, ct 06401 (203) 734-3318) for recalls p41(ignition switch) & n23(powertrain transfer case electrical system). in january of 2012 with 37k on the vehicle there was the first of two accidents that relate to recall p41. this accident was due to unresponsive braking and steering, which was caused by the ignition switch moving from the on position to the off position while the vehicle was in drive, or in use. this accident happened when attempting to stop the vehicle (rte. 80 east haven, ct) i noticed the vehicle was unresponsive. i used both feet and hands to apply the breaks, while simultaneously wrapping both hands around the lower half of the steering wheel and pulling upward with my biceps to apply additional downward momentum to the break pedal, but still i could not stop the vehicle. injuries were sustained and out pocket costs for this accident total over $7000 dollars. the second accident happened in 2016. not realizing the vehicle was off while attempting to bring the vehicle to a full stop on the highway (rte.15 no haven, ct.), i had a collision. the force of the impact slammed my face into the steering wheel. i was dazed and confused, wondering, why hadn't the airbags deployed. this is the second incident i've had with this vehicle that was directly related to the ignition switch. and, in both accidents airbags were never deployed. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
i bought a 2006 jeep grand cherokee 4x4 limited edition. i bought 4 new tires the day of the purchase. the tpms-tire pressure monitoring system began failing a short time thereafter. the light in the dashboard flashed telling me my tire pressure was low on various tires. my wife was the sole driver of the jeep and she was constantly calling telling me a tire was flat. she worked evening hours. i took the jeep into les schwab for repair. they advised me the price for the sensors was more than the price of the vehicle. i was constantly putting air in the tires and had to reset the vehicle service mileage. *tr
I have a jeep grand cherokee (2006). over the past 5 years, it has intermittently had problems. sometimes while driving and after startup. these problems have always been loss of gauges, flashing lights in dash, what appears to be the traction control or brakes kicking in and the loss of power steering? when this first started happening i thought maybe the computer had been vibrated or jostled and had a glitch. over time it would go away and 6 months or so later happen again! i have done everything in my power to stop this from happening, ie changing parts and trouble shooting the problems to no avail. i thought i had this narrowed down to a rusted connection from a ground wire connected to the block.....wrong again! this morning i had my 4 year old son in the jeep and was taking a left at a busy intersection. i clearly had enough time to make the turn, but as i was turning it sounded like my anti lock brakes were kicking in mid turn with a car coming right at us! i made the turn pulled over on the side of the road. all my gauges were dead, check engine light on and only the gear selector was visible. i have read on many jeep related forums, that this is not only happening to my jeep but many others! while reading i have noticed one thing. in many cases these problems were solved by replacing the ignition switch! after reading this i further researched the problem against recalls. i found that, according to the wall street journal, ny times, usa today and forbes, chrysler is allegedly recalling these vehicles with faulty ignition switches. so i called my local dealer. they looked my jeep up in their database and told me they're were no recalls on my vehicle and that they haven't recalled any vehicles for faulty ignition switches. i would appreciate it if the nhtsa could help with some of these problems and answer some of these question i and many others have. *tr
If the keys in the ignition shake just slightly, all lights on dash flicker on/off, engine cuts out and comes back on. i've had a problem with this since i bought the vehicle in 12/08 and still happens. i can only have 1 car key in ignition so nothing happens but still does every so often. *tr
The first incident happened just weeks after i purchased my grand cherokee. i was on a two lane highway going 75 mph in the left lane.the highway did not have a shoulder to pull over on. there was a tractor trailer in front of me, behind me and to my right. my car suddenly started decreasing in speed rapidly, my steering wheel locked up and it was as if my car had been turned off. i had no where to go as it was sandwiched in between semis all going at a high rate of speed. i turned on my hazards until i was completely stopped in the middle of the highway. i put my car in park, put the key into the off position and restarted it.i drove straight to the tulsa,ok jeep dealership. to say i was shaken up is an understatement. they ran tests on it. came back to me and told me the car checked out perfectly fine and either my knee hit the ignition or my keys were too heavy. my keys only had my car key, house key and my key fob on it and i knew my knee had not hit the ignition. i was scared to drive my car from then on. the incidents continued to happen over and core again.sometimes at a high rate of speed, but also lots of times at a slow rate of speed under 25mph or while going from a stop to start (like at a stop light or while trying to turn). i continued to take my car in to the jeep dealership the entire time it was under warranty. i received the exact same answer every single time. they treated me like i was making the incidents up. the incidents started happening more frequently and after my second child was born we were finally in a position to purchase another vehicle. my jeep has been sitting in my driveway for over a year. we are unable to sell it for anything close to what kbb says its worth. and we also feel like we can't sell it consciously knowing it could kill someone.these cars are a death trap and because of financial situations families are forced to keep. *tr
Incident happened multiple times. engine, shut down briefly. when i stepped on brake it vibrated severely. the instrument panel lit up, was unable to steer. received notice from nhtsa tried to have fixed several timesand part is still unavailable. it is happening more often and i am afraid to drive it. very disappointed. i believe jeep should furnish me with a safe vehicle. *tr
