Takata recall to be truthfully honest nothing about this jeep is safe i didn't know that i could put in a recall for this jeep because i thought it was too old and too late anyway sensors are horrible no turning signals , my belt assembly breaks a part while driving radiator gets really hot to the point of smoking even when my coolant is full i have sun roof problems because water leaks through it and floods the driver and passenger side trunk will not open my suspension is in great need of help it doesn't even bounce , alot of safety problems but like i said didn't know i could for file for a recall so i'm hoping that this can get recalled.

Motor keeps stalling while driving or idle. this is unsafe.. my life is on the line. replaced all parts that deal with issues and issues are still there. .. recall and fix issues....

The jeep engine shuts off unexpectedly. this occurs after approximately 25 minutes of driving. it can happen during high speeds on the highway 60 + mph or during idle when stopped in traffic. this is extremely dangerous as i had to avoid several accidents. the jeep might start immediately after a short wait, or can take a day and start with the same problem. the gauges go off, with the fuel showing empty, then the engine simply cuts off without any prior warning. you lose all power, brakes, steering etc... this is a serious problem that appears to be documented all over the internet without chrysler stepping forward to make the necessary corrections that might eventually save lives. it does this problem, whether you are idle condition, making a turn, traveling a short distance or on the highway in a middle lane surrounded in traffic doing 65. the weather also has no effect as it has occurred during warmer weather and cooler weather. i am lucky to be alive as i recently avoided a rear end collision.

Excessive engine knocking with power loss and abnormal driving capabilites. sounds like bad internals. suspension causes "death wobble" at cruising speeds. engine happens anytime engine is running producing large quantities of smoke from tailpipe.

Electric system is bad and jeeps are known for the bad belts

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 jeep grand cherokee. while driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle jerked violently as it decelerated and emitted an abnormal popping sound. the contact mentioned that the engine seized and the vehicle failed to restart. in addition, the contact stated that fuel fumes emitted into the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown. the vin was not available.

I have owned 8 jeeps and now have a beautiful dealershipl maintained grand cherokee limited 4.7l in my driveway with a bad engine. at 100k a rod bearing went bad and after that was fixed by me with great expense it now sits in the driveway with low compression and will not start. i have searched and found hundreds of ads with blown engines just in my area of southern california. there seems to be some common design flaws in the 4.7l that chrysler corporation has been hiding and we the people have been paying for it. dealers deny any problems but yet on any given day the classifies are full of them. i love the vehicle in general that's why i have owned so many but feel taken advantage of and can't afford to drive a chrysler piece of crap anymore. i was stranded on the highway like many of us were and put in a perilous situations because of it with family in the car plus i was on crutches . chrysler should being offering assistance because of their faults. i also just got done repairing the faulty blend door because of the lack of visibility.

Vehicle randomly stalls and dies at low to moderate speeds. engine will shudder briefly and shutoff. stalling will occur when stopped or speeds ranging from 1 to 40 mph. when vehicle stalls, electrical system will reset and power steering fails. restart is sometimes achievable immediately, but more often takes a minimum of 30 seconds and up to several minutes. issue seems unaffected by outside temperature or other environmental factors. engine failure often occurs within the first 15 minutes of driving, but has occurred at greater time intervals. spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition rotor, and upstream oxygen sensor have been replaced, but problem persists. this has caused near accidents on multiple occasions. this issue is persistent and ongoing. *tr

I was driving home from the gym, and while i was sitting at the light to turn the truck sputtered. upon accelerating through the light the truck stalls out and restarts itself. this happens on a daily basis. *tr

First incident rough idling, second incident trying to quit on my way out of town, third incident on my way to work. had oxygen sensor replaced 2 or 3 times and that has still not fixed the problem ! come to a stop at a red light and the car feels like it's sputtering to quit ,! *tr

The jeep will start and run fine first thing in the morning, after shutting off the vehicle and coming back it will start initially, but then stall and will not start again for a few hours.

Within the last 6 months my jeep's engine has shut off" while driving" at various speeds 5 different times but not exceeding 60mph. four of the six times i was able to shift into neutral and restart the engine, two times i had to wait approximately 5 minutes before it would restart. the incident at 60mph happened on a 4 lane highway and luckily i was close to the shoulder when it shut off and i was able to get it off the road before the steering locked up and no one was hurt. the computer never registers any problem and my mechanic has stated that it could be numerous issues but nothing for sure. to the best of my knowledge jeep has never issued a warning or recall for this issue. this is extremely dangerous and an accident just waiting to happen. *tr

I am coming home driving my jeep grand cherokee 1999 from my mechanic in queens village after he change the map sensor and relay to fix the stalling problem on the jeep. driving on grand central parkway at the speed of 55mph, i was lucky to have driven my car and be able to come to inner roads when my car died(stalls) again in the middle of the traffic. after 30min, the car starts again after a numerous tries then stops after 500ft and it didn't start until after 15min of standing by in the middle of traffic again. it's just so frustrating when this happens because my car is in very good shape and it's stalling my engine, unbearable problem because i am afraid to drive my car on a highway or expressway. *tr

Out of know where the engine just started knocking, and the smell of gas and the steering wheel started acting out of control. i had to park it and get another car. but i still have it because i really like my jeep!

I own a 1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo and in the past i guess around 6 months it has been parked because noone can figure out what the problem is.the vehicle used to be so dependable and then one day it wouldn't start after i drove it about 15 minutes and shut it off,but i could let it sit for about 20 to 30 minutes and it would start right up.after a few weeks i couldn't drive it anymore because it was stalling more often and i never knew when it was gonna start or not.i had it put on the computer at advance and they mention the number 3 not firing but noone can figure out why my very dependable vehicle all of a sudden was very dangerous.please help me if u can,i am a single mother with no transportation.i have been reading entries by other jeep owners and i have a little hope since alot of them are having the same problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph the vehicle stalled. the contact mentioned that he was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 175,000 and the current mileage was 175,500. the vin was not available.

Went out shopping. drove 15 minutes from home. car running at normal operating temps. went into store for 10 minutes, on return car would not start. would crank and turn over, but not fully start. after letting sit for 1 hour, the car started with no other action. while trying to start, all other functions worked ok. radio. a/c. headlamps. etc. car also starting stalling after the "no-start" issue began. stalled at any temp, any speed, highway, around town. car stalls, but still have lights, flashers etc. *tr

I purchased this jeep and not even a month after having it cut off with driving down the road. it will say i have no gas and the tank will be full. at times it would start other times it had to be towed (3 times in fact). this has happened 5 or 6 times at all different speeds. i took it to a dealership 450.00 later still had the problem. this is very scary for the jeep to shut off while driving. i have two small children. i am wondering how is there not recall for this. as i have read clearly this is not just my jeep. this is a huge safety concern. another thing i also notice i can hit a bump then it beeps and tells me my hood is open. which it is not. i love my jeep but cant enjoy it bc scared that it will cut off at anytime. *tr

Four times in the last year, the vehicle when traveling over 50mph, develops what online research describes as "death wobble". the steering wheel vibrates suddenly in your hands, the front end wobbles and it is difficult to control. slowing down below 50mph usually resolves the issue...but that is an unacceptable solution. seems to happen when the vehicle is warmed up and has traveled 20+ miles. a major national tv channel has produced a news article about this with film of the vehicle during the "death wobble". we believe that congress has asked jeep about this issue previously. the jeep company in our town suggested rotating tires and checking brakes. they claim to have never heard of this issue, however there are lots of online complaints. in addition to lots of complaints, there's been lots of money spent on lots of parts and labor to fix the issue. everyone seems to have a different opinion as to what the problem and solution are. even though there are only 45000 miles on the vehicle, it cannot be trusted to provide a safe journey. we are disappointed with the company and vehicle. hoping for a recall soon! (on a side note, a neighbor of ours has also experienced this same issue with his jeep. if we are aware of 2 people with the same issue, it has to be a major issue with the vehicle.) please help. thanks. *tr

Intermittent stalling problem when moving, very dangerous, about rear ended numerous times. dealer can not fix, just throw money at it in parts hoping to fix the problem. this needs to be addressed by jeep before someone is killed!!!!!!!! *tr
