2014 jeep grand cherokee has a rack and pinion leak after a few years of owning the vechicle new .rack and pinion now has to be replaced.
My jeep all of a sudden stalled right before a sharp corner causing panic and loss of control of the vehicle. my family is scarred and my wife does not trust driving the vehicle especially after not even a week later we received a recall letter stating vehicle can stall but there's no solution!!!! when the jeep stalled i drove into a ditch unable to over power the all of a sudden tight steering and now i have suspension problems!
I have been dealing with this jeep grand cherokee issue for years now. at one point there was a recall on the ignition switch and it was replaced at the local chrysler dealer. the issue i have is identical to the one in the link attached. up until a few weeks ago, i lived with it. now the issue has turned dangerous because it also affects the ability to brake and turn. when the brakes seemed compromised, i took the jeep in for repair but they were not able to duplicate the issue. i picked it up last week from the repair shop and today it was the power steering that went out along with the usual dash panel function going out. i realize that this is an older jeep but it seems chrysler should still be responsible for the vehicle safety. https://www.mcall.com/news/watchdog/mc-jeep-cherokee-dashboard-shutoff-ignition-recall-watchdog-20141213-column.html this article describes the exact issues i have seen repeatedly. now that the loss of power steering and braking assist have both happened over the last several weeks while driving (supposedly fixed by the ignition switch recall), this jeep is too dangerous ...
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving at an unknown speed, the steering lost power without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electric power steering pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was in the process of being towed to zeigler chrysler dodge jeep ram (847-565-2442, located at 208 w golf rd, schaumburg, il 60195) for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 68248550. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Sound coming from steering column when turning. dealer diagnostic identified a failing steering rack and pinions. need to replace.
While slowing down to make sharp turns the vehicle will spontaneously shut off causing the power steering and breaking to not work. there are no error codes that come up and the radio and air/heat continue to work. the only reason you know the car shut off is because the breaks and power steering won't work. this has happened multiple times but you can never recreate the problem on cue. it just happens randomly without warning. this has happened both coming off the highway ramp around a turn and on a normal back road street going around a turn. the last time this happened was 11-13-2019
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system). the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. while driving and attempting to turn the vehicle to the left, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. in addition, the contact needed to depress the brake pedal with excessive force. the contact placed the vehicle in park and turned off the ignition. when the vehicle was restarted, it resumed normal operation. the failure occurred a total of five times with one of the failures occurring when making a right turn instead. the contact called orr chrysler dodge jeep (located at 900 truman baker dr, searcy, ar 72143, 501-279-3311) where it was determined that because there was no check engine warning indicator illuminated, they would not be able to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provide case number: 57815893. the contact was informed to have the dealer diagnose the vehicle. the approximate failure mileage was 100,167.
I took my car in for a routine oil change and was informed that the rack and pinion steering assembly was leaking power steering fluid and that my power steering fluid reservoir was nearly empty. my car has 80k miles on it. this appears to be a common complain amongst owners of my make and model vehicle.
While driving 2011 jeep grand cherokee with children in car, the jeep just stalls out on me and i lose control of the steering. it has happened most times when i am making left and right turns.
Anytime i hit a small bump in road or when turning the front end loses control and vehicle shakes violently sending me into other lane. several wires have melted under the hood and the front driver seat gets extremely hot while driving a distance over 13 miles
