Car has been repeatedly stalling when going into a turn or coming to a stop. low oil pressure light will flash at times while driving. stalls and low oil pressure warning flash sometimes occur at the same time, sometimes do not. car recently stalled while going 35mph on a highway. requires stopping car, putting into park, and then restarting, which takes 10-15 seconds for starter to get engine to turn over. when at idle in park, throttle does not respond to gas pedal.
While driving on freeway this morning the vehicle drivetrain disengage and was not able to accelerate with warning message showing place car in park - select mode - something to that affect - this the second time this has happened- first time on freeway- thank goodness traffic was next to none i think this is very serious!!!!!
My 2019 jeep compass has had numerous safety concerns, especially related to the engine and the push-to-start feature. most recently, i have been in (d) drive, both stationary (i.e at a red light) or in motion (i.e highway, main road, side street, rotary) and both on a city street and highway when the vehicle's dashboard alerts me to shift the car into the (p) park gear. i can feel the car start to decelerate when it send this message. first, i shift the car into the desired gear (p), then brake locks itself so that i am unable to use to push-to-start feature and place the car back into drive. this has happened to me 4x/more. i have had my car in the service center at the dealership twice for the issue and they are unable to find the actual problem. it seems to me that it is the engine/push-to-start feature. in 2017 i had a defective battery and the car acted very similar, so i am thinking it may be the battery again. i filed a claim/case with jeep today. i am awaiting proper documentation from the service center in terms of invoices. my life is at risk due to this huge safety issue.
2 times the same incident occurred 6 months apart, once in june 2019 mileage 22046 and once in december 2019 mileage 28423. bought the car brand new in 2017. oil is dissappearing!! the oil pressure low light will flash on - there is a loss of power - while driving - no warning! then the light will go off. drive to oil change business to have them check the oil level and the jeep will be 3 to 3.5 quarts low. no leak present or oil seen. engine seems to slip while driving before this happens.

On 6.22.2019 i purchased a jeep compass certified. i had the jeep for 10 days before the jeep will no longer start. the jeep had to be towed to the nearest jeep dealership. the diagnosis is that the jeep's timper is no longer working. this is a pre-existing issue that the jeep dealership on route 4 , paramus,nj was well aware of when the sold me the jeep. i do not have a loaner car to get to or from work.......
When making left or right turns, it goes into 4wd. doesn't matter if you're on the roadway or turning into a parking spot or even backing up. feels like something grabbing in either the front or back can't really tell. makes grinding noise. took back to the dealer twice now and they also say it was the 4wd that they can't fix anything because jeep knows about the problem and we have to wait for jeep to do a recall. it gets worse every day. they say they can not give us a paper because of waiting on the recall. only had this car for 3 months and nobody wants to fix the problem.
Is using oil very quickly. was told to carry oil with me to keep the oil full so that it doesn't run out. when oil gets low (no oil left after 3000 miles) will get brief "low oil pressure" message and jeep will just shut off automatically. this always happens when i am driving. was in the middle of a very busy intersection yesterday when this happened on my way to get the oil changed and i almost got hit by a semi. this is very unsafe.
Tl* the contact's daughter owns a 2017 jeep compass. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle seized in the middle of the road. the driver was able to restart the vehicle within five minutes. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to central jeep chrysler dodge ram of raynham (located at 191 us-44, raynham, ma 02767, (508) 823-0101) where it was diagnosed that it needed a pass and oil change. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred on september 25, 2019. the driver stated that a warning message appeared, indicating to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle was unable to turn off. while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate and was unable to shift into any gear. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the contact attempted to contact the manufacturer, but was unsuccessful. the failure mileage was 20,000. the vin was not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 jeep compass. while driving at an unknown speed, the brakes did not engage and the brake-on warning indicator illuminated. also, when the vehicle was in park, it rolled away and did not stop with the emergency brake being applied. the vehicle was taken to susanville auto center (530-257-5092, located at 704-485 richmond rd e, susanville, ca 96130) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 16,500.
My jeep compas was built 8-2016 and is making a extremely loud grinding noise. i took my vehicle to get looked at and they rotated the tires. they stated the tires are in excellent condition and stated that it maybe the axel or internally because exterior visual inspection everything was fine. i came home and put the car in park and it was still rolling and i put the emergency brake on and that was making a grinding noise also. i no longer feel safe driving my vehicle. i need my vehicle to be added to recall t-26 as i am not going to pay for these repairs upfront. the grinding noise just seems to be getting louder. i do not want to operate the vehicle and loose control while driving my kids to school or even just driving to the dealership for repairs.
The vehicle was stopped at a stoplight on a city expressway and when the light turned green the stop/start system failed to restart the engine. it engaged the parking brake in the middle of the road and would not allow me to immediately restart the car. after several attempts to restart the car with traffic flying by me i was finally able to restart the car and disengage the parking break. this has happened multiple times and my dealership says they will not fix it because they are waiting to receive a stop start battery from mopar. it has been on backorder for a month and they dont have a date when it will be fixed. this keeps happening at least once a week and they do nothing to correct the problem. the problem is with the start/stop system made to conserve gas. the system should not leave you stranded in the middle of busy roads where someone can slam into the back of you.

Purchased dec 2017. almost immediately began experiencing a problem whenever the speedometer dropped to 31 mph, there was an aggressive downshift that felt as if i was being rear ended. problem frequent yet intermittent. often radio would not turn on or off when the engine was on or off. fear of battery draining was often. loss of volume control when vehicle was parked.. each month, random errors would flash. by july 3, it had become so frequent withshifting problems and problems with lighting, windows, sunroof, it was taken to collierville cdjr for service. that day all the codes started flashing across dash while vehicle was in motion on highway. there were 4 pages of diagnostic error codes. tech erik jeter said a tcm flash update was available for transmission shift quality. must update pcm and tcm also. there were multiple dtcs for all turn signals and lamps. determined cause to be faulty body control module and internal failure. this was allegedly replaced, despite being originally told of a recall and backorder of parts that could last 6 months. car out of service for 10 days. problems began again within a week of vehicles return. it was taken to landers cdjr for service on august 9, 2018. i have not heard back from dealer. then the backup cameras began freezing and would stay while car in motion. windows stopped working. on september 1, 2018 my vehicle was found to be sitting behind the service department along side more than a dozen other new jeep compass vehicles with stop sale/do not sell written across windows. it has been a total of 35 days out of service. this vehicle needs to be declared a lemon so i can replace it with a working car.
Tl* the contact's daughter was driving a 2017 jeep compass. while driving 10 mph, the vehicle jerked, lunged, and lost power. also, the vehicle accelerated while the brake pedal was depressed. furthermore, the overheat warning indicator illuminated for approximately thirty seconds and then turned off. the vehicle was taken to manhattan jeep (629 w 54th st, new york, ny 10019, (877) 225-8709) to be diagnosed, but the failures could not be duplicated. the failures recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for a second diagnostic test, which failed to duplicate the failure again. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. the failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
The vehicle has been in motion every occurrence and happened on a highway. the jeep has shut off while i was driving. i had the automatic off turned off and when i stopped at a stop light the jeep powered down, dash and lights went crazy, and my jeep would not start back up. it took over 5 minutes to get the jeep to come back on. there is also a popping noise and a very hard shift at times. when this hard shift occurs it pulls my jeep to the right, i have had it in the shop several times this year and they cannot figure out the problem. they thought changing my shocks would help but it has not. there is still a popping sound when i hit a certain speed and then it is still shifting extremely hard randomly and jerks the whole jeep when it happens. it has almost caused me to wreck a couple times especially when i am in a right handed curve and this occurs; it caused me to go off road when i took a right handed curve and it occurred. this has been happening since april 2018, and i have had it in the shop several times. this has been an ongoing thing now i do not have the files with me today at work, but i do have them at home. i can upload the documentation at a later date. unsure of exact date.
