Right now it doesn't run because the brain went out while i was driving back to work from lunch. there's no response to the vehicle and the other day it completely stopped dead while i was driving 65 on my way home from work. to top my matters off with this vehicle it's had the cruise control recalled and replaced and many other parts it's a terrible vehicle. to top my stress with it my seatbelt doesn't lock when it's supposed to so if i wreck looks like i'm going through the windshield. i honestly wish i could afford another vehicle because mine i feel is going to be the death of me. i have a video of what it was doing before it completely shut down can't upload any pictures because it wouldn't do justice.

Keeps jerking and losing power while accelerating on highways/busy roads/hills.
When going over 30mph or uphill my transmission starts sputtering. i cannot accelerate. frequently happens when on highways. there is a sudden shift almost like im switching gears. rpm shoots up but car will not gain speed. headlights will get very dim, inside lights will flicker. when starting the engine its like it almost doesnt want to start. front window motors work when they please
I was driving down the road doing 40 with 2 of my children when i lost all power control of my vehicle in 90 degree weather. i ended up on someones lawn and pulled up on my emergency brake to stop my car, only way. i ended up being towed home. car started next day. took to dealership they said it was throttle control sensor which they stated wasn't covered under warranty. just this week i took to get its first inspection since purchasing and it failed for emissions. i was told by inspector this make and model had been failing for fuel system failure and to contact dealership. i contacted dealership who stated this is the first they're hearing of this issue and i wasn't able to schedule an appointment until next week and said that there may be a charge for me to fix???? i have also had to replace both rear hub bearings. i called the jeep manufacturer who was absolutely useless as well and said certain things are covered under warranty and this may be one that isn't. this is absolutely ludicrous that i have a 4 year old car that failed its first inspection. i have a claim with them.

My oil pressure and check engine light kept turning off and on. i contacted the jeep dealership in regards to the issue, and they advised me it was not dangerous. the problem continued so i attempted to transport my vehicle to my mechanic, and as i was transporting the vehicle i heard a loud "pop!" from under the hood. the car began to decelerate causing me to have to pull safely to the side of the road from three lanes over. the dash board proceeded to light up and a strange smell began to come through the vehicle. my associate and i got out of the vehicle to check under the hood and found that the vehicle was on fire. we quickly grabbed our belongs and moved a safe distance away from the vehicle. the vehicle was engulfed in flames within 15 minutes and remained on fire until the fire department arrived to extinguish it. the car was a total loss and jeep has denied association with the incident.
Dangerous, engine stalling and complete electrical shut down, while driving at any speed, driving straight, turning, or just sitting there. the abs light flashes and then everything shuts down without warning. i sit for a minute, then i can restart and the vehicle runs fine. except for the fact that the engine stalling will happen again. i took it to the dealer, they said there are no codes indicating a problem. the dealer cannot find what this issue is. there was a recall in dec. 2013 for the exact same problem, however, chrysler corp says that my vin does not fit into vehicles that were recalled. it should be if my 2014 jeep compass is having the exact same problem. this is extremely dangerous, stalling in the middle of traffic both on the freeway and in the streets. and with the airbag module not replaced yet by a different recall, it makes it more dangerous if the vehicle stalls in traffic, then a car hits us and no airbag deploys.
I've had to replace all 4 bearings, the 4 wheel drive went completely out during big snow in 2016, the rutter valve had gone bad(which costs over $400., having to replace alternator, and various other things... this jeep had been nothing but a pain since i've had it and i bought it new. they are junk and the whole vehicle should be recalled.
I have owned this jeep compass since july 2014 in the time i have owned it , it has lost power and stopped functioning as i was driving betweeen 55 and 65 miles/ hour 4 times on a very busy 5 lane highway. 1 of those times i had to have it towed . the other times after leaving it sit for approximately 30 minutes, it would restart.the time it was towed, the only thing they could find is the battery was low so they replaced it. another time at 33,000 miles, they found the transmission was failing so they replaced the transmission. last month , it died again in the same busy highway and we were almost hit by an 18 wheel truck while trying to get it off the road. i let it sit for 30 minutes and it started again just like the other times. i took it to wallace jeep in stuart florida where the service manager did a diagnostic on it and said he could find nothing wrong. i have not driven it on the highway now for weeks because i fear the transmission is going out again and am afraid of being hit in traffic. it now has 66000 miles on it so this transmission has about the same mileage on it as the original did. i a opened a case with jeep and can never get them to call me back i am thoroughly disgusted with this vehicle and would never buy another jeep as long as i live. not sure what to do next! so not fair that i am stuck with this death trap! i previously owned 3 different grand cherokees with no issue , but this compass is a worthlesss, dangerous, pole of junk! i loathe this vehicle!

I was slowly pulling into a parking space in front of local pharmacy. as i was about to put the suv into park the vehicle suddenly accelerated with my foot on the brake and then jumped two curbstones and went across the front entrance to the store and then hit a parked toyota suv and pushed the vehicle back four feet and then finally came to a stop. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep compass. while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed and an unusual squeaky noise emitted continuously. on separate occasions, the transmission exhibited a violent jerk. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to locate the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 10.
Bought the vehicle brand new with 30ish miles on it, on 12apr14. on 19apr14 (about 420 mileage on it) the vehicle stopped in the middle of an intersection. would not shift/move. my wife had to floor the gas pedal to get it to chug out of the intersection. i got there an hour after she called me. the hood was so hot i could barely hold it when i opened it. transmission fluid was pouring out. when the tow truck picked it up it poured more fluid out. it was in the shop until 16may14. the dealer said it was a front transmission pump, and was on national back order. i spoke to tx lemon law and they said sounds like a case. i never filed because i was giving the dealer until 18may14, as that would have been 30 days in the shop. *tr
2014 jeep compass. consumer writes in regards to transmission problems. *smd the consumer stated 3 weeks after purchasing the vehicle, it broke down while driving. he was able to coast down a hill and get off the road. the vehicle had to be flat bedded to the dealer. the tow truck operator informed him, the transmission had failed, as evidenced showed fluid had leaked all over his truck, as it was being put onto the flatbed. the vehicle was at the dealer for 3 weeks. *jb
I bought my car 2/5/14, brand spanking new (only 35 miles on it). i was stopped at a stop light at night far away from my home waiting for it to turn green. at this point the car has about 365 miles on it. the car jerked a few times but sounded like it was about to take off, like it was shifting by its own. car did not rpm. it stopped jerking however happened again a few seconds later. when the light turned green, the car would not go anywhere. i had to press on the gas for a long time before the car decided to move or even shift into a gear. car would move but only in 1st gear, it rpm'd all the way to 4. the temperature gauge showed that the car got hotter than usual. once i found a safe place to park, i idled into a angle parking spot and by then the car wouldn't move anymore - solid engine light came on. once i got a hold of the dealer they gave me instructions for towing. as soon as the car was put on the flatbed tow truck, all you could see was transmission fluid all over the ground. it looked like blood, everywhere. that happened on 2/12/14. it is 2/25/14 - car is still at the dealer waiting to be fixed, apparently parts are national backorder and i am angry. i had my car for 8 days; dealer has had it going on 13 days now. at least, though, i am thankful it did not happen on the expressway or what not. i could have died. the transmission is not safe; could potentially cause an accident. *tr
