At 47,351 miles the cylinder head on cylinder # 4 failed causing the engine to stall and run rough. jeep dealer is replacing it under a factory warranty

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate upon starting and would inadvertently accelerate while driving. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to cochran chrysler dodge jeep ram (110 rte 908, natrona heights, pa 15065, 724-901-1014), but the failures could not be duplicated. the failures recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer. the computer was updated, but the failure recurred and "service the shifter" illuminated. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the shifter module was greased, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer. the vehicle was not taken to another dealer and the failure was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

I parked the jeep and turned it off and when inside for 10 minutes and started the car to leave and a bunch of lights came on like service engine and drive train. i put it in reverse and a huge clunk from the transmission happened i backed up and put it in forward and a huge clunk happened again. it shocked the whole car. i went forward and it barley would go. it took along time to get up to speed. it kind of shook and was really scarey. i brought it to the jeep dealer and barely made it. the guy said the techs where all gone for the day. i couldn't leave it there so i started it back up and it worked fine. the check engine light was still on though. the next day i started it up and the light was off. it worked fine for 3 days until it all happened again the same stuff. so i turned it off and started it 10 minutes later and it was fine. it is a leased jeep and i am going to bring it in this friday. i want this fixed. i have read lots of the same problems with 100s of other people and it sounds like they are just giving people the run around. this is very unsafe and i want a new jeep or a new transmission. i do not have any time to be going back to the dealership all the time or do i want to die in a car accident. the next thing that happens a that people are saying is that it will shift out of gear on the freeway and lots of people have almost crashed because of this. thank you please let me know what you will do about this.

Car does not accelerate from 3rd into 4th gear at times. it has a lag time before it switches gears into 4th on a 9-speed automatic.

For the fourth time, my 2015 jeep cherokee locked up the park brake, and the electical components all begin to operate sporatically without being turned on. the instrument gauges all start flashing, the wipers start swiping, the display screen begins flashing on and off, the prndl starts flashing and becomes unresponsive, and the instrument panel begins displaying multiple error messages, as if they car has become possessed. the scariest part is when the park brakes locks up, no matter what speed you are travelling at. the car was in motion twice when the car malfunctioned and locked up, and just yesterday was sitting in a mcdonald's drive through when the same thing happened. my wife is now terrified to drive this car anymore after four times of the same issue. our fear is this is going to happen on a crowded freeway, and a semi behind us will not be able to avoid hitting us because our park brake has locked up. there are other complaints of this same issue with other jeep owners on the internet. i cannot afford to just trade this in for another vehicle...i need some help getting this resolved so my family isn't in jeopardy just keep driving this vehicle the dealer cannot seem to permanently fix.

Sometimes, when the transmission shifts into 3rd gear (around 32 mph), it does a very hard shift and there is a noticeable clunking noise throughout the car.

Transmission is inconsistent in gears 1-3. sometimes hesitates to move in first gear. all recalls have done nothing to address issues. jeep dealership has no idea how to fix the problem and advises it's all software issues that they can't fix.

While rolling at low speeds, it can take several seconds for the jeep to downshift when power is applied. this is a well documented issue with the 9-speed transmissions in the fca vehicles, and we have had the jeep to the dealership four different times complaining about how unsafe this is. when the power is needed, one of these days, it may delay too long, and we could get in a wreck. a person should not be afraid to drive their vehicle because they don't feel that it is reliable enough to actually accelerate when the pedal is pressed. fca has recently announced that it will be replacing the dog clutch in the transmissions with a standard clutch to fix this issue going forward, but they still need to be responsible for making the cars they have already sold work reliably. this happened regularly, so there is no single event date that i can easily state.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard an abnormal noise and the gears felt as if they had slipped. the vehicle was taken to larry h. miller chrysler jeep dodge ram albuquerque (8528 lomas blvd ne, albuquerque, mn 87110, 505-404-0108) where it was diagnosed that the transmission was inoperable. the vehicle was repaired, but the symptoms recurred. the dealer diagnosed the vehicle again, but could not duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 22,600. **tr manufacterer notified aug18- response was out at warranty we can't help you. chrysler was notified - 1800-334-9200 said out of warranty time. service writer howard b courtney told us the 9 speed has been discontinued no longer offered. (however a big selling point at purchase). we are afraid to go out of town in vehicle. no help from dealer or chrysler. est. trans repairs $4,000-$5,500. i was in warranty when 1st reported. out by 8 days at last visit. updated 10/30/18*jb

Takata recall- i had a recall done on my vehicle. it no longer accelerates properly. when at a stop, when the accelerator is pushed the vehicle takes seconds to move and then jerks forward.

Whie driving i noticed shifting was pronounced. took jeep for servicing. transmission light came on at service station , they ordered me a rental car and had my car for 5 days. said they put transmission module on, one week later i was in a parking lot i put my car in reverse and heard loud clunk, service transmission light came on and stayed on. i took it back to service providers and it is still there.i have a rental car again

While driving from a cold start, the car would suddenly stall and a message would pop-up indicating "shift to p and select desired gear" along with the battery light indicator. the car would then need to be shifted into park and attempt to restart, which would take at least 2 restarts before the car would start. this occurred while driving, first on a suburban street and then on the highway.

Vehicle will not start. says to service transmission and park brake.

Driving my vehicle over the weekend while in motion on a city street my vehicle turned off and then turned back on, the vehicle turned completely off no power could not do anything the vehicle turned on and was able to continue driving. where my family and i were extremely nervous the remainder of the time while driving home. thank god i was not driving on a busy highway where this problem could have caused an accident where my family and myself could have gotten seriously hurt or worse could have killed someone in my vehicle or any other vehicle due to an accident. when the vehicle turned on again the check engine light came on and the start and stop system light came on advising to have the system checked, the rest of the time the vehicle was being driven home it constantly sounded like it was going to loose power and turn off.

I bought my jeep with 12,000 miles. i have taken it to the dealer 3x so far for the same exact issues. transmission clunking, lurching, wont down shift at low speeds. when in traffic below 20mph some times it revs for a few seconds and doesn't move and then the vehicle lurches forward. sometimes it just has no acceleration like its stuck a few gears too high. the shift going into 5th gear sometimes feels like i got rearened it shifts so hard. when this happens the vehicle jerks back and fourth and has a metallic bang going into 5th. the 5th gear hard shift is intermittent. the bogging, lurching and refusal to down shift at slower speeds is constant. dealer has yet to be able to do anything but computer updates. they say its "normal". it is very dangerous in traffic because you never know what its going to do when you try and accelerate. i can't count the number of times i have tried to cross in between traffic and the truck refuses to go or just moves at a turtle speed.once i press the accelerator hard enough it will down shift hard enough to break the tires loose and peel out when it lurches ahead. it is very troubling and i don't want to let anyone besides myself drive it because i dont want them to get in an accident. i can also assume that all of these hard shifts are causing a lot of premature wear on my drive train. its like putting the car in neutral, revving it up and then slamming it into gear. it is a daily occurence.

Transmission jerks and does not shift properly and shifts to neutral randomly. have had the software updated multiple times.

Near accident. my cherokee got stuck in fourth gear or higher. when i stopped and tried to go again, it creeped very slowly until it reached 40mph. this was during rush hour traffic. if stopped on a hill, it would roll backwards. very dangerous. the rpm's frequently went high before shifting. i just bought this a month ago. noticed hundreds of complaints on the internet about the same issue. transmission problems. many people getting new transmission after long battles with the dealer and put in dangerous driving conditions. some with children in the car. jeep in shop already. help!

The service transmission message came across the screen and the vehicle lost ability to accelerate. this occurred on an interstate at 72 mph in the fast lane.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond and rolled back in reverse. the check engine and service transmission indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (perkins motors located at 1205 motor city dr colorado springs, co 80905) where it was diagnosed that the system needed to be updated. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 28,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving various speeds above 30 mph, the vehicle failed to shift correctly and moved sluggishly. the service shifter message displayed and the gear shifter indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the failure occurred several times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact stated that the vehicle was recently serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train) at auto plaza chrysler dodge jeep ram de soto (located at 128/30 mo-21, de soto, mo 63020, (636) 337-7777). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 39,500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked and decelerated. the failure recurred several other times. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (whitten brothers of ashland located at 11409 washington hwy, ashland, va 23005; (888) 459-1066), but no failures were found with the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted at 800-247-9753 and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. case number: 31826079 was provided. the failure mileage was 30,700. the vin was not available.

Transmission went out in the middle of an intersection, was not able to move the vehicle on my own

2015 jeep cherokee latitude 4x4 - when pressing the accelerator at a stop light/sign, it acts as if it is in neutral for a few seconds prior to taking off. it will often jerk hard when it does move as if it is dropping into gear. often times the jerk is hard enough that it will throw me back in the seat and makes a horrid noise. the jerk can happen after stopping or randomly auto shifting while driving down the road. i've kept a diary of logistics (hill, flat surface, winter, summer, rain, dry, slow driving, fast driving, etc...) and there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to when it's going to "act up". someone mentioned an o2 sensor? i've had it into the dealer a few times and have been told there's nothing wrong with it, it's normal for this to happen (both the feeling of being in neutral when taking off and the hard jerking when shifting). i worry my transmission is going to fall out of my car when this happens!

The transmission bangs intermittently in varying degrees if intensity from noticeable to extreme. when the bang is extreme it feels like the vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. it seems to occur in the lower gears when the vehicle is hot and cold. i drive harder than my wife and the banging occurs regardless of the driver. unable to identify any common factors other than occurring in the lower gears while up shifting and down shifting. i have brought is in for service 3 times. each of the first two times they were unable to dubolicate the issue. the last visit on may 24, 2017 the head service technician acknowledged the bang during a test drive. he said he would order a new transmission but first had to notify chrysler. today we were notified they had to first replace the valve body and were not replacing the transmission.

While driving on the freeway at 65mph, the car gave me a "transmission service" alarm and then the car lost power and eventually stopped. no response to acceleration and eventually to steering control. i turned off the engine and waited approximately 3 minutes, turned the key and then the car started and was able to drive it with no issues. it was a dangerous situation that could have ended with catastrophic consequences. the car was bought from overseas military sales in sicily, italy and the incident occurred in sicily.

My transmission goes into neutral while in drive on the highway. there is a recall for the same make, model and year as my car, but my vin does not qualify. i hope jeep will remedy this problem which they know exists in this vehicle. *tt updated 9/28/18*jb

I just got my vehicle in april 13, 17 my vehicle shut completely off while at the street light and it does this when ever it feels like it and when ever i turn my vehicle on sometimes my inside dashboard or radio lights won't come on and it's still trying to be fixed this is ridiculous

Service shifter warning is displayed. all light indicators at shifter are lit. this happened at start-up and continued while driving.

The vehicle accelerates when i am trying to slow down. this happened top me while driving in my neighborhood and happened to me while driving down the highway. almost caused me to hit another vehicle. had this issue before when car was almost brand new, took it to the dealership and they flashed the system. said it was a recall. car drove fine for a while but now i am having the same issue again.

Nhtsa issue 1096880. 18 apr 2017: drove out of side street onto two lane highway and the vehicle stopped moving in the middle of the road making off sounds and "check engine" light came on. fooled with gear shifter. began to move only slowly in 1st gear. headed back to my street and half way stopped moving again. pushed over to side of road and called roadside assistance. it was a very scary and unsafe position to be in cross ways of a two lane highway and can't move. decided to try and see if i could get the rest of the way to my house. couldn't go over 5-10 mph. one time rpms raised high and went back down. could not climb driveway to garage. had to leave side of the road.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 45 mph, the transmission stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

Transmission malfunction at high rate of speed on interstate, lost power and ability to accelerate while traveling on interstate. to repair a software upgrade was run on the vehicle. i have verified that no recall existed for my vehicle despite the fact that transmission software problem was known by chrysler. some vehicles had been recalled but my vehicle has not been included despite the fact that it contains the same 9 speed transmission that has failed. this incident occurred at high rate of speed on interstate with heavy traffic and caused a significant risk of crash.

One morning i started the car, i heard water moving from the engine area. while, driving the car i heard a noise's like a pressure cooker sounds. once i arrived at work i walked around to the passage side to retrieve my staff. i could smelled antifreeze. i contacted jeep right away and they contact a tow company. it was drop off. the dealership worked on it for a couple days. they did pressure test for external leak, didn't locate a leak. they didn't do a internal examine. it's 2 year old vehicles already leaking antifreeze. i have my vehicle into the dealership twice but still smell antifreeze. two pressure test later nothing. i just pickup my vehicle for the second time. why is jeep vehicles having so many problem. my psi, transmission and radio making sounds when its off. jeep is a bad vehicle and it just a matter of time, humans might be in damage due to the uncaring manufacturing company that makes lot's of money of the back of working americans.

I was driving into work and all of a sudden the words, "service transmission" came across my dashboard. i was coming up on a red light, so i stopped for the light. when the light turned green, i went to accerlate and my car would barely move. when i was able to get it going, it would only go 10 mph. i immediately pulled into a parking lot and called aaa. while waiting on aaa to arrive i started doing some research regarding the issue and saw that there is or may be a recall for this exact issue. however, i was not notified. i also see that there are multiple complaints regarding this issue from other jeep cherokee owners who have all experienced the same issue/concern. i could have been in a very serious car accident. this needs to be looked into.

Delayed shifting on acceleration dangerous!!! when will you people do something about this. does someone have to die before you do your f'n jobs? https://www.carcomplaints.com/jeep/cherokee/2015/transmission/delayed_shifting_during_acceleration.shtml

The transmission slips or skips gears. from a stop it hesitates to go. it revs high when down shifting. shifts hard a lot. we have had it to the dealer 2 times. programming updates were done. no improvement to its operation. it feels like it's going to fail soon.

Since owning for 2 mos. continuously has problems shifting in the lower gears up to 3rd. has all the transmission updates. thurs after turning to a street with slight inclind, shifting into 3rd a loud, scare "bang" occured. kept driving no problem. frid same happed with miffled "bang" sound.

The transmission shift hard. the downshift is bad. very poor on gas. electric problem. air bag.

Does not shift properly it is the trailhawk. does not downshift and sluggish. have had it to dealer 3/4 times and only 1 man said yes has issue then will not back his word. took him to hill and had to put it to floor to get it to go up and same entering highway!

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 7 mph, the vehicle surged forward independently. in addition, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate on more than one occasion. the contact stated that the vehicle downshifted hard from second to third gear and the rpms increased rapidly. charlie's dodge chrysler jeep ram in maumee, ohio was made aware of the failure and provided the following series of repairs: the water pump was replaced, both front axles were replaced, the transmission software was upgraded, the valve body was replaced, and the front passenger side cv joint was replaced, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided the contact with case number: 32656386. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

2015 jeep cherokee transmission: warning light four wheel driving system unavailable service required! when driving the transmission would shift through 2nd gear and get stuck there with very high rpms, then slamming into third. (city street & highway) it accelerates when downshifting. normal driving, no power. while driving loud whining sound from under the suv. when stopped and in drive and turning on ac or heat, the rpms would drop below 1k and the suv would automatically increase the rpm causing it to lurch forward. transmission shifted randomly. the dealership we leased the jeep from replaced/reconfigured the drivetrain control module and flash programmed the ecu. they replaced a defective transfer control motor. they checked wiring harness and called a regional technician. all of these "fixes" failed after an extended test drive. rt 46 chrysler, jeep, dodge said they now need to replace the transmission control motor. the car has been at their shop for almost a week. chrysler corporate said they will not cover consequential damages due to defective parts under warranty. the sales manager at rt 46 chrysler jeep dodge would not take our 2015 cherokee as trade in for a new suv because he called it a lemon. this vehicle is unpredictable and unsafe while driving. the dealership we leased the cherokee from doesn't even want it back.

Transmission jerks slams in gear doesn't know what gear it should be in hesitates when stopped then goes into gear doesn't know what gear to be in on the highway takes to long to go into passing gears

Service light for transmission will illuminate when on the expressway. if you slow down car will jerk and make a loud clunk noise. when resuming acceleration this noise has to happen. the light goes off at times

Extremely rough shifting for the first 3 or 4 gears. shuttering between gears if i slow down and speed back up in traffic. if i come to a complete stop and begin to accelerate the first gear is a very hard jerk. its getting seemingly worse the longer i drive it and its becoming very dangerous to drive in traffic. i purchased the vehicle in february 2017 and had it looked at in march of 2017. overland park jeep dealership did a "software update" and sent me on my way. this was no help. i've called multiple times and they say there's no issues or updates available. took it in again in september 2017 and another "software update" was done. still no change. its there now and they are telling me that they've been driving it for 3 days and its "not acting up" . so i asked what i should do when i pick it up and its still happening. they said "i guess bring it back". its so unsafe and it seems like they think i have nothing better to do than bring the car in and rent a car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while stationary, the vehicle would not downshift and remained in third gear instead of first or second gear. the contact stated that the vehicle seemed as if it wanted to stall. there was not enough power to the vehicle upon acceleration from third gear. the dealer replaced the pcm, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 46,677.

Vehicle is unsafe to drive. transmission doesn't not function properly. dealer is unwilling to help. i have taken it in multiple times for software updates and for check ups. there are harsh shifts, wobbles , delayed reaction when gas pedal applied. jeep has advised there is no fix. when making a turn , and gas is applied, nothing happens. causing to sit in the middle of on coming traffic. extremely jerky . unsafe

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving and attempting to make a turn, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the failure occurred without warning. the vehicle was taken to shottenkirk chrysler dodge jeep ram (678-535-3417, located at 200 liberty blvd, canton, ga 30114) to be diagnosed, but the failure was not duplicated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the dealer would be called. the dealer was not called. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

Transmission trouble with only 18000 miles. service transmission warning displayed. initially at dealer told the update would not fix problem but then they were able to magically fix it with an update. very concerned since multiple reports on nhtsa with similar fixes that did not work and car suddenly stopping. service departmnent did not feel that my family's safety or the multiple complaints stating this fix did not work.

While braking the car abruptly downshifts and causes the vehicle to accelerate. i have noticed the longer i drive the vehicle, it will happen while i am slowing down at higher speeds at well. also, a slow response to acceleration at times. i have taken the jeep to the dealership and they have flashed and updated my transmission but they said it was fixed but it was not. it is incredibly dangerous to drive this car especially when trying to brake because it will speed up by itself and merging into hwy or fast moving traffic.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train). the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure.
