Problems with 2014 Jeep Cherokee SERVICE BRAKES

On average, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 36 979 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Vehicle does not go while on incline at a stop, revs to 3k rpm then will spin out tires. delayed start at stop lights and speed ups. had recall done software upgrade twice, drives fine for a couple weeks then back to it. had numerous close calls while pulling out into traffic have to let off gas and accel again and pray it goes...

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 10 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the electronic brake system engaged; however, it failed to disengage. as a result, the vehicle could not be driven. the vehicle was towed to harr chrysler jeep dodge (110 gold star blvd, worcester, ma 01606) where it was diagnosed that there was water damage to the module. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 98,000. the vin was invalid.

Electronic parking brake automatically engaged and wouldn't release when the car was located at an intersection on a major city street. the epb module is corroded with water damage. this is located in the back of the vehicle near the power lift gate. there was a recall on the power lift gate: safety recall r27 / nhtsa 15v-393 power liftgate module but the recall only addresses the lift gate module, not the epb module.

Parking brake locked up ,car could not move an had to be towed, this happened while in a lot.

The electric parking brake set itself and would not disengage, requiring tow. the dealership told mei need to pay for a software update to fix the problem, however i discovered on my own a service bulletin describing the exact problem #08-060-16 the vehicle was parked, but could not be operated. my opinion, either the dealership is incompetent, or purposefully deceitful. pay for a software update. i asked, he couldn't answer... how did i break the software??? it is not software, the bulletin says it all.

Emergency parking brake (epb) will not release. enough complaints that jeep issued a tsb on it. although it happened to us when vehicle was parked, it could have been applied when vehicle was moving. noticed after we went to move vehicle after parked. display shows "service emergency brake". lots of other complaints on same issue in your database and in jeep user groups. . please do the right thing and get a recall issued, car towed on a flat bed to daytona jeep. left skid marks left in parking lot at embry riddle university. - rear wheels locked and would not budge one inch. bad tsb mentions water infiltration around epb module near rear tire in rear hatch area. complaint also filed with jeep. case 64649523. not safe and expensive to repair if no recall. serious issue.

My electronic parking brake malfunctioned. the vehicle was parked in a driveway and turned off without activating the parking brake. when i returned to the vehicle and restarted it the parking brake was engaged and would not turn off. in addition, the red 'brake' light, and yellow electronic park brake warning light on the dashboard appeared; the odometer was flashing; and, 'service four-wheel drive' appeared on the dashboard message window. after several attempts flipping the parking brake switch from the on and off positions, then holding the switch in the "off" position for several seconds, the parking brake did disengage. all of the lights remained on. each time the car was placed back into "park" the parking brake would re-engage, and i needed to go back through the same process to disengage the parking brake. i brought the car in for service due to the issue on 9/13/19 at a certified jeep dealer/technician. the technician advised that the cause of the problem was corrosion of the electronic parking brake module located in the rear of the vehicle, due to water somehow accessing this area. importantly, the technician could not identify how water got into the area. the technician replaced the corroded module and wiring harness. the technician advised that they could not guarantee that the issue would not re-occur as they did not know how water accessed the parking brake module, but that they had resealed the entire area and were hopeful this would be a permanent fix. i have not had any issues in approx. 60 days/2000 miles since having the module replaced. the cost of the parts and labor to replace the module was $963. i believe this to be a latent defect which adversely impacts the safety of the vehicle.

Decelerating on i-75 off ramp to city street, turned off cruse control, jeep stuttered to a stop when lightly pressing brake pedal. accelerating cautiously, struggled to accelerate, rmp needle revving high, sluggish acceleration, jolted/stuttered to accelerate to 35-mph then accelerated normal. 4 miles down city street went to decelerate slowly for stop light, "service electronic brake system." message came on screen, brake pedal became extremely stiff. brake pedal would not press down as normal. had to struggle just to get jeep to stop at busy intersection almost rear ended vehicle in-front of me... placed jeep in park, turned off & restarted jeep, as past electrical issues in 2017 have happened with deceleration/acceleration (in 2017 turning off/on jeep helped(past in 2017 bad battery cell dealership missed had to take somewhere else for correct diagnose/replaced battery)). light turned green tried to accelerate through intersection to park in parking lot, jeep barely accelerated to 10-15 mph "service electronic brake system" message came back on after 10 mph was reached. had to jam down foot to barely move brake pedal 2 cm to come to a stop in the parking lot (almost hit building). went to put driver side window down before turning off jeep & driver side window wouldn't go down. now safety issue might not be covered under warranty /dealership 70,774 mileage. these safety issues should always be covered for full life of warranty not just to 60,000 miles!!!!!

Leaving my driveway the e-brake activated and i could not deactivate the unit. called aaa to have the jeep towed to contemporary automotive. the tow truck driver had a difficult time putting the jeep on the ramp truck. i am fortunate i was not going 50mph. the service adviser said the problem with the e-brake was that a sunroof drain hose was kinked and water cause the e-brake fail.

My jeep cherokee electronic parking brake has come on by itself and it cannot be turned off. this first happened at the end of last year and i brought it to the dealer and i had to pay for the electronic parking brake switch to be replaced. last week it happened again and i brought it back to the dealer and they told me that now the electronic parking brake connector and electronic parking brake module both need to be replaced at a cost of $1500 plus. doing a search on the internet reveals that this is a common problem with jeep cherokees. i am afraid to drive the vehicle as this can happen anytime and it is unsafe. to drive. looking on the jeep website they have issued a service bulletin that covers the exact issue - electronic parking brake module connector water intrusion. the problem that they claim is due to water damage and it is in a spot where i find it hard to believe any water can get in.*dt *tp

Car dashboard displays "service park brake" and "4wd system temporarily unavailable". car is stationed. when putting car on drive, it does not move when accelerating. emergency parking button was looked into and it did not resolve the issue.

I parked my car on main street in town to pick up my mail. when i got ready to leave my emergency parking break was on. ( i never put e brake on,bit did it by itself) i tried to disengage but it would not. i had to have car towed and it cost me $611.28 in repairs. we were told water and corrosion was found in electric parking brake module and connector. i have been researching this and have found there are several complaints. we called jeep who told us there was an issue with the e brake but my vin number didn't match. obviously it should. very frustrated with jeep at this point. water should not be getting into the module. that is a manufacturer deffect and should be covered as such and recalled.

While driving on a 4 lane highway at 65 mph the vehicle partially lost power and would not accelerate, up shift, or ownshift, the brake lights started flashing, along with many other lights on the dash including check engine. i pulled over to the side of the highway and shut off the jeep. i waited a minute then started it back up. the service parking brake message was on the message center, the odometer is blinking, and 4wd is temporarily unavailable. i had it looked at by a mechanic and they showed me the park brake module had water intrusion and was very much corroded.

It vibrates it revs up when in gear it shakes code u11c2,u0001000,u04200,u010100,u000288,u012100. *tr

My wife was driving the car on the highway and suddenly lost power and began slowing down. fortunately no accident happened. the dashboard showed that it had transmision problems. when we bought the car we mentioned the sales person that we felt that the transmission wasn't working good but he answered was that this was something normal. the dealer fixed the break booster about a year ago but the car still shows a low break. this happened when my wife was driving the car and the car suddenly stoped in the middle of the street.

Emergency brake locked up when parked without being engage. auto brake was not on.

Twice, i was driving at 35 mph or less and the brakes engaged automatically all on their own, slamming on the brakes flashing "brake" message in the instrument panel and stopping the car while in motion.the city road was dry both times.first time june 12, 2018, traveling 27 mph, there were large construction barrels along the road on the right side, cars on left, the car in front was 1-1.5 car lengths away, my car was in the right lane, no items on the road surface, my car stopped in the middle of an intersection.dealer couldn't find a stored message or any problems.second time, august 18, 2018, driving in the left lane, grass median with trees, no cars close (all were at least 2-3 car lengths away), nothing on road surface, about 30 mph, on a city street. dealer again couldn't find anything.this is very scary. how do i know if it won't happen again while driving at a higher speed and the car stops abruptly and i get rear-ended and die?

Emergency brake in gaged. could not shut it off. couldn't move vehicle. had to be towed by aaa.

Auto hold for brakes turns on without any warning or reason while driving.

The electronic parking brake engaged and would not disengage. happened twice once while driving once when the vehicle was stopped. towed to a dealership, after 4 weeks the only solution was to completely rewire the entire vehicle. claiming it is not covered under warranty. dealership informed me that there was water intrusion.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while at a stop sign, the vehicle shut down, the brakes lost power, and the anti-skid and check engine warning indicators illuminated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer from where it was purchased. the contact took the vehicle back to regal nissan (770-998-8686, located at 1090 holcomb bridge rd, roswell, ga 30076) and was informed to call a jeep dealer. the contact called robert loehr chrysler dodge jeep ram srt and fiat at 770-382-5885 (located at 567 e main st, cartersville, ga 30121) and was informed to take the vehicle back to the nissan dealer from where it was purchased. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 43,600.

I took my jeep into clear lake jeep3 times and stll not fixed the car came to a stop the ebrake engaged all 3 times i was on the highway came to a trafic light and stopped and when i put my foot an the gas the car jurked forward and would not move because the ebrake eniaged lucky i was not on the freeway i could have been killed i see this is happeningto other people with 2014 jeeps please help

While driving about 60 mph the car lost all acceleration and slowed very quickly, the engine light came on and the assist emergency brake light came on ( i think that was what it said. as i pulled to the road side there was little no rpms . i shut the car off and waited , restarted and still no rpms. i disconnected the battery after googling the problem and restarted and lights where all gone . this was great for about 4 days and maybe 300 miles and again it happened . this time i had my cade reader and received a p1dcd code, i did not clear code but shut engine down and restarted. the car ran with rpms ok but was a bit sluggish . i called dealer when i got home and they said i would have to pay for them to do a diognostic test to figure what the problem is. i drive my kids in the mornings and feel this could lead to a serious accident . i dont feel safe driving it myself let alone my children with me.

After filling my tank with gas i turned onto a nearby roadway and felt my car sputtering and jerking. as i came to a slow stop at a stop light my car abruptly slammed to a stop and made a loud bang/slamming noise and prompted me to shift to park and restart the car. i followed these commands and the car would not move. as soon as i would shift out of park the loud slamming would occur again and i began to smell fumes so i stopped trying to follow the prompts. i put my car in neutral and pushed my car out of the moving traffic lanes and got it towed. the dealership claimed nothing is wrong with my vehicle and gave it back. i have experienced the same issue 3 times since. they replaced an evaporation pressure switch the second time i took my car in and this still has not fixed the issue. the last time the issue occurred i was slowing down on a highway in dense traffic and as traffic started moving again my gas pedal stopped working. i could not accelerate when i pressed the gas i only heard loud revving noises as my car coasted.. when i went to press the brakes and pull off the road i immediately heard the loud slamming noise and my car broke down again in a very unsafe location on the highway. i waited one hour and my car was able to restart and i slowly got it off the highway with my e-lights on. i will be taking it to the shop after the new year.. again. worst of all after looking into this issue online i see it is common among jeep vehicles. not just the cherokee. happens after i gas up. it is extremely unsafe as i have almost been rear ended at high speeds by other cars on the roadway. has been listed in forums as somesort of rollover fuel valve. please investigate before more serious injuries or even death occurs assuming that hasn't already happened. also please note that since the work they did on 2nd visit to dealer i have had check gas cap and engine lights on

Water intrusion caused corrosion of brake harness and module locking parking brake, vehicle not able to be driven. vehicle was stationary at the time of parking brake auto engaging.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving 65 mph in the rain, the windshield wiper motor failed and the exterior and interior lighting shut off. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road. once the vehicle was restarted, the lights turned back on and the vehicle operated normally. the vehicle was taken to bemidji chrysler center (located at 755 paul bunyan dr nw, bemidji, mn 56601, (218) 751-8006) where it was diagnosed, but a failure could not be found. in addition, while driving 35 mph, the steering wheel seized and the brake pedal failed to stop the vehicle when it was depressed. as a result, the contact crashed into a fence. there were no injuries. a police report was not filed. the dealer was not notified. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the vehicle was able to be driven from the scene and was not diagnosed for the brake and steering failures. the approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

Vehicle showed no warning lights, dash lights flashed, then vehicle engine stopped, no steering, no brakes. unable to move vehicle into neutral. vehicle was in motion at 45 miles per hour on the road, going straight.

Since the very beginning driving 2014 jeep the transmission slips. taking it back to the dealer service dept for all maintenance asking them to check the trans have complained of the slipping and told every time it is way the trans works. i have 60k miles on this vehicle i am concerned that the trans will fail while i am on the road and cause a deadly accident. 8/10 i had an app't for an oil change. i requested a vehicle check and check brakes as they did not seem to be working as they should. was informed the vehicle needed front/back brakes and that rotors needed replaced. i only traveled about 15 miles when i heard a clinking sound in left rear it sounded as if a lug nut loose when i stopped the rear of my vehicle lowered and when moving it sounded like a bucket of metal in my rear wheel. i turned into a parking. when backing up the vehicle froze i stopped, called service department of freedom. i had my vehicle towed back to the service dept. was told issue was brakes were not installed/secured properly. i asked that all the brakes be inspected, if the tech did not know how to install one there was a concern for the other 3 wheels i did not want to take a chance of having a fatal crash. i also asked that all work be reinspected. when explaining what had happened it was obvious rep was speaking beyond scope of her knowledge ' this was very frustrating i was placed in a very dangerous situation due to the poor workmanship of the tech. the story did not make sense the more she tried to explain it was more convoluted. i was transferred to the service mger who explained what happened, admitted that brake failure was tech's fault. in light of all the times i have had the jeep into service dept complaining about trans does not give me a level of confidence that there is not something significant with the trans i would like an investigation into this matter

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving down a hill, the contact depressed the brake pedal and felt an abnormal vibration. the failure occurred during inclement weather. the brakes had been inspected several times, but the dealer (elm grove dodge chrysler jeep inc., 2538 national rd, wheeling, wv, 304-243-1999) was unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 28,815. the vin was unknown.

My 2014 jeep cherokee latitude at 41000 miles had a brake failure. now at 51000 miles the engine has been stalling while in motion and shifting into neutral. the dealership told me after the 2nd time in for this problem that the vehicle was 3.5 quarts low on oil and the engine had shut off to "protect itself" . the car has been parked for in my garage for 3 days, after driving it for about 3 miles the check engine light came on, upon checking it is again low on oil. i have had the car serviced as recommended and don't understand this sudden oil use, there are no signs of leakage or smoking, and the warning system is not indicating low oil pressure. it is going back to the dealership monday morning.

Two issues with my car, first the transmission failed while driving 70 mph. the car messaged "service transmission immediately" and began to decelerate. i had no control of this process. the abs light came on and luckily i made it off the road. secondly and independently the brakes make a loud grinding noise when the abs is engaged. the dealer was perplexed by both issues. cannot tell me what is wrong and assures me my car is acting normally.

The transmission slips and when your oil is low the car dies on you the car has died on me and on highways back roads pulling out of my driveway transmission is slipping all the time

tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while the vehicle was operated, the brakes failed to respond. the contact stated that the vehicle was pulled to the side of the road and restarted. the service shifter warning indicator illuminated. ward chrysler center dealer located at 1412 west main, carbondale, il was contacted and it was diagnosed that the vehicle's body control module needed to be updated. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 30,000.

Vehicle moving on interstate.. braking system engaged, warning light to brake came on. no apparent reason. dry roads. night-time. driver did not brake but accelerated and overrode the braking action since there was no reason to stop the vehicle.

I had been driving my vehicle all night when all of the sudden out of no where the transmission service came onto my screen on the dash and my jeep lost power and the brakes locked up and said that i need to service the brakes and the transmission. at the time this happened i was just starting to come to a complete stop at the light. this is really dangerous and needs to be reported that the transmission has failed or is not working correctly in this jeep. what is someone gets killed? *tr

1.) vehicle shifts into neutral without notice while actively driving and shifter column indicates "drive". 2.) parking break engages without warning or physical activation. dealership refuses to identify issue.

Car cut off while driving clunk when putting into reverse or drive has delayed acceleration sometimes no acceleration car radio does not come on at all or the screen freezes traction control goes on and of on its own alternator not charging properly owned the vehicle for about a month and half i expressed concerns when i first test drove the car my dealer told me he would send the car to jeep i bought it from a chevy dealer with about 34,200 miles as i said owned the car less than 2 months hawthorne chevrolet has sent my vehicle to jeep been without for over a week have not even made 1st payment yet contacted jeep corporate i have a case # 3009-95-39 but still no satifaction

On sunday on may 22, 2016, i drove my 2014 jeep cherokee on interstate 275 from the montgomery road exit to the five-mile road exit. i was alone in the vehicle. i used the cruise control during this travel. i originally set the speed for 70 miles per hour. at one point, i had to slow down because a car pulled into the lane in front of me and the step down of feature of the speed control worked as expected. when i exited from i-275 to five-mile, i applied the brakes but was unable to slow my car. i continued to apply pressure to the brake pedal but the car's speed was not being reduced and i realized that i would be crossing into the signalized intersection without being able to stop. shortly before entering the intersection, i honked the horn of my car. my car continued across all four lanes of five-mile road and onto the on-ramp from five mile to interstate 275. there it stopped. i do not remember pushing the button on the steering wheel to cancel the cruise control . the car did not impact or touch any other vehicle or pedestrian or other property. it came to a stop on the onramp. the cruise control was not then causing the car to accelerate and the brakes worked. i drove my car very slowly and parked it in the parking lot of the shopping center at the intersection of five-mile and beechmont avenue. from there, i had the car towed from the parking lot to the dealership where i purchased it, kings chrysler/dodge/jeep, inc. at kings auto mall. a report referenced by ntsa id no. 10861030 describes a similar incident involving the same make model and year. so far, the dealer service department says there is no problem discernable from the computer codes or fault indications.

The jeep continues to stall with no warning in traffic, causing a serious risk of collision. the vehicle has also experience unwanted and automatic acceleration, also causing a serious risk of injury. a leaky break line was just replaced. the vehicle only has 27,000

12/5/15 jerking suv stops driving stops in middle of intersection gration& 13mile 12/7/15 returned to dealership jan 2016 roseville chrysler jeep threatened to have vehicle towed to scrap yard and bill me for towing & pay remainder of car note jan 18 2016 car was delivered back to my home as of june 1 2016 my vehicle still jerks when i accelerate after taking my foot off brake & press gas pedal - cant afford to pay for 2 vehicles - my lease ends may 2017

12/03/16 i was backing out the drive way and the e brake engaged on its on and would not go off so i was stuck in the middle of the drive way! a message in the dash said "service park brake". i had to have it towed by chrysler to the closet dealer. it was at the dealer for 4 days and no one had looked at it and they would not give me a loaner. it took me repeatedly going to the dealership and making phone calls to the service manager to get my car looked at and to get a loaner vehicle. they finally discovered there was corrosion in the e brake module and wire harness. they ordered the parts and fixed in a week and a half. i am thankful that i was only backing out of my drive way when this occurred, if i was on the highway i could have been seriously injured.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact's vehicle struck the rear passenger side of another vehicle. neither of the frontal air bags deployed and the abs failed. a police report was filed and there were no injuries. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact stated that a crash field supervisor would evaluate the situation. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000. updated 06/15/16*lj *cn

This vehicle had been showing issues for a while now. the issues were brought to the local dealers attention but only would accept to take the car in for the radio recall these vehicles have currently. after taking the car on its first 100+ mile journey, upon getting closer to the exit i was supposed to take, the car would not shift to lower speeds properly and i had to stay on the shoulder to come to a stop, otherwise i would risk flipping the vehicle approaching the curved exit at such a speed. must i say i gave the vehicle plenty of stopping/slowing distance. upon coming to a stop ahead of the exit the car jumped forward clearly a problem with the deceleration of the transmission. i brought this issue up with the dealer the following day and stated i should watch the car further and be more careful. just earlier today, the vehicle decided to jerk forward while decelerating from highway speeds again and the same response was given. later this afternoon, approximately 2:30 pm est the key was put into the ignition and the car jumped forward striking the vehicle upfront but luckily not doing any visible damage. this car is an accident waiting to happen as i live near a children's school and work near a middle school and i worry one morning this car jumps forward and g-d forbid strikes a child or pedestrian and turn into chaos, as well as putting my children in danger. this car clearly has transmission faults and needs to be recalled legally once and for all..

Driving to work on hwy in heavy traffic i accelerated up a small hill car jerked then powered down on hwy at 65 mph i was able to coast over three lanes of traffic and pull off to side of road then noticed service transmission, check parking break, put car in park and then select gear all came on as messages also the traction control light came on. put care in park and restarted engine all lights/messages still on dash and car would not go into gear for driving. tried two more times and finally could drive under 50 mph straight to dealer for service. the check transmission light remained on during my entire drive to the dealership. i had previously experienced acceleration when in traffic coasting and my foot off gas pedal. also hard shifting multiple times like it was skipping gears when accelerating. very scary and unsafe situation to be in.

Forward collision avoidance system is activating without warning and without any other vehicles or road obstructions in front of the vehicle. this has happened 4 times over the last month. one of the times this happened my wife was traveling at approximately 40mph and there was a vehicle following behind her and they in turn had to slam their brakes on to avoid hitting her. of course this enraged the driver behind her thinking that she was intentionally slamming on her brakes. another time my wife was traveling at 65 mph on the highway and the forward collision avoidance system slammed the brakes on hard enough to engage the abs system. thank god that there were no other cars or semi's behind her or slick roads as this could have caused a very serious if not fatal accident. the two other times were the same, the crash avoidance system activating for no reason. the vehicle is currently at the dealer for repair and we were notified that the vehicle was ready for pick up on 11-13-2015. upon arrival at the dealer i specifically asked if the safety concerns with the crash avoidance system and transmission had been corrected. i was told that they hadn't been looked at because they weren't on the list of repairs, when actually this is why the appointment for service was set. the dealer told me to go ahead and take the vehicle and bring it back on 11-23-2015. i refused taking the vehicle as it was not safe for my wife to drive. after arguing, they kept the vehicle. we were notified again on 11-19-2015 that the vehicle was ready for pick up, but they could not duplicate the symptoms with the crash avoidance system. on 11-20-2015 i went to the dealer and again refused the pick up of the vehicle until it has been repaired and is safe for my wife to operate. i have been in contact with jeep multiple times during this ordeal and have an open case on the vehicle at this time.

This is the third incident in which the computer of the jeep cherokee has malfunctioned. i had it serviced for the second time just two weeks prior to this incident for the check engine light turning on and then the transmission failed. in this particular accident, the screen froze, my phone was charging and when the screen froze my phone was powered off along with the charging port, and then when i went to brake due to it being a red light and car in front of me the brakes and steering wheel locked on me and i was unable to brake or switch lanes. a service light flashed at me when everything froze but then disappeared. of course, after the car had been off and turned back on, there were no issues. this is not the first time the car has frozen on me. i'm unsure of the better term to describe this. but this time resulted in an accident which was not in my control due to my brakes and steering wheel locking. i was told two weeks ago my car was up to date on all service issues. apparently this was incorrect and needs to be addressed with jeep. i also have yet to receive any safety recalls regarding the known transmission issue and the brake hack due to the 3g and uconnect computer systems. this is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed and fixed.

1st incident- 9/1/15- driving in interstate traffic when w/o warning jeep lost power, immediately slowed as if it dropped gears and went into neutral, "service parking brake" message flashed and said to put in park/turn car off/restart. other emergency warnings appeared: check engine, stability traction, service transmission. jeep had no power and was hard to steer. i was in far lane and able to coast to shoulder. turned car off/on. said "service transmission". tried to drive but parking brake was still locked. had towed to dodge service dept. 9/3 diagnosis- "code u042 error causing service parking brake message and transmission to go limp". told it was reprogrammed and problem fixed. 2nd incident- 9/4- driving on country road in school traffic when same exact problem occurred.there was no where to coast/pull over. turned car off/on. service transmission warning light was on but attempted to drive to move car out of traffic. shut down 5 more times w/ loud clunks as if transmission was going to drop out before able to safely park. nearly caused school bus accident! had towed to dodge. star case opened. in service dept for 14 days. replaced "body control module" but couldn't get it reconfigured and had to "write" into dodge to find out how to fix it. 9/17 diagnosis- "internal bcm failure caused active u0140- lost communication w/ bcm dtc in electric park brake module; test confirmed bcm failed causing false activation of park brake. i expressed concern of recurrence and my safety based on history of complaints but was assured it was fixed. 3rd incident- 9/21 in rush hour traffic again! how many times do i have to risk my family's lives before they recall/replace this death trap! jeep still in service dept and they have now ordered a valve body, transmission range sensor, transmission fluid and electric parking brake control module. please help before someone is killed!

Episode one: while driving up hill at about 30 miles and hour car jerked into neutral, instrument cluster flashed engine light warning, transmission light warning, parking break warning, traction control warning and flashed "service transmission" and service parking brake". operator restarted car three times before transmission would engage. this cleared all warnings except "check engine" light. car was driven to dealer where without documentation they stated that they flashed the transmission control module and then car was returned to owner. second episode: on sept 3, 2015 operator was driving about 55 miles per hour when suddenly with a jerk the car shifted into neutral and the car jerked into neutral, instrument cluster flashed engine light warning, transmission light warning, parking break warning, traction control warning and flashed "service transmission" and service parking brake". . operator was able to pull over to the side where he restarted the car about 4 times before transmission would engage. then about 10 miles further on the road, coming up to a stop sign the same behavior reoccurred. car was delivered to dealer on 9-03-2015 and their service report of 9-04-2015 indicates that they flashed tcm, bcm, ipc and r40 recall. episode three: september 6 2015 operator was driving car up to stop sign car jerked into neutral, instrument cluster flashed engine light warning, transmission light warning, parking break warning, traction control warning and flashed "service transmission" and service parking brake". from that point to the dealer operator noted that the engine rpm maintained at about 3000rpm instead of fluctuating normally as with normal driving.
