Vehicle does not go while on incline at a stop, revs to 3k rpm then will spin out tires. delayed start at stop lights and speed ups. had recall done software upgrade twice, drives fine for a couple weeks then back to it. had numerous close calls while pulling out into traffic have to let off gas and accel again and pray it goes...
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 10 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the electronic brake system engaged; however, it failed to disengage. as a result, the vehicle could not be driven. the vehicle was towed to harr chrysler jeep dodge (110 gold star blvd, worcester, ma 01606) where it was diagnosed that there was water damage to the module. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 98,000. the vin was invalid.
Electronic parking brake automatically engaged and wouldn't release when the car was located at an intersection on a major city street. the epb module is corroded with water damage. this is located in the back of the vehicle near the power lift gate. there was a recall on the power lift gate: safety recall r27 / nhtsa 15v-393 power liftgate module but the recall only addresses the lift gate module, not the epb module.
Parking brake locked up ,car could not move an had to be towed, this happened while in a lot.
The electric parking brake set itself and would not disengage, requiring tow. the dealership told mei need to pay for a software update to fix the problem, however i discovered on my own a service bulletin describing the exact problem #08-060-16 the vehicle was parked, but could not be operated. my opinion, either the dealership is incompetent, or purposefully deceitful. pay for a software update. i asked, he couldn't answer... how did i break the software??? it is not software, the bulletin says it all.
Emergency parking brake (epb) will not release. enough complaints that jeep issued a tsb on it. although it happened to us when vehicle was parked, it could have been applied when vehicle was moving. noticed after we went to move vehicle after parked. display shows "service emergency brake". lots of other complaints on same issue in your database and in jeep user groups. . please do the right thing and get a recall issued, car towed on a flat bed to daytona jeep. left skid marks left in parking lot at embry riddle university. - rear wheels locked and would not budge one inch. bad tsb mentions water infiltration around epb module near rear tire in rear hatch area. complaint also filed with jeep. case 64649523. not safe and expensive to repair if no recall. serious issue.
My electronic parking brake malfunctioned. the vehicle was parked in a driveway and turned off without activating the parking brake. when i returned to the vehicle and restarted it the parking brake was engaged and would not turn off. in addition, the red 'brake' light, and yellow electronic park brake warning light on the dashboard appeared; the odometer was flashing; and, 'service four-wheel drive' appeared on the dashboard message window. after several attempts flipping the parking brake switch from the on and off positions, then holding the switch in the "off" position for several seconds, the parking brake did disengage. all of the lights remained on. each time the car was placed back into "park" the parking brake would re-engage, and i needed to go back through the same process to disengage the parking brake. i brought the car in for service due to the issue on 9/13/19 at a certified jeep dealer/technician. the technician advised that the cause of the problem was corrosion of the electronic parking brake module located in the rear of the vehicle, due to water somehow accessing this area. importantly, the technician could ...
Decelerating on i-75 off ramp to city street, turned off cruse control, jeep stuttered to a stop when lightly pressing brake pedal. accelerating cautiously, struggled to accelerate, rmp needle revving high, sluggish acceleration, jolted/stuttered to accelerate to 35-mph then accelerated normal. 4 miles down city street went to decelerate slowly for stop light, "service electronic brake system." message came on screen, brake pedal became extremely stiff. brake pedal would not press down as normal. had to struggle just to get jeep to stop at busy intersection almost rear ended vehicle in-front of me... placed jeep in park, turned off & restarted jeep, as past electrical issues in 2017 have happened with deceleration/acceleration (in 2017 turning off/on jeep helped(past in 2017 bad battery cell dealership missed had to take somewhere else for correct diagnose/replaced battery)). light turned green tried to accelerate through intersection to park in parking lot, jeep barely accelerated to 10-15 mph "service electronic brake system" message came back on after 10 mph was reached. had to jam down foot to barely move brake pedal 2 cm to come to a stop in the parking lot (almost hit building). went to put driver side window ...
Leaving my driveway the e-brake activated and i could not deactivate the unit. called aaa to have the jeep towed to contemporary automotive. the tow truck driver had a difficult time putting the jeep on the ramp truck. i am fortunate i was not going 50mph. the service adviser said the problem with the e-brake was that a sunroof drain hose was kinked and water cause the e-brake fail.
My jeep cherokee electronic parking brake has come on by itself and it cannot be turned off. this first happened at the end of last year and i brought it to the dealer and i had to pay for the electronic parking brake switch to be replaced. last week it happened again and i brought it back to the dealer and they told me that now the electronic parking brake connector and electronic parking brake module both need to be replaced at a cost of $1500 plus. doing a search on the internet reveals that this is a common problem with jeep cherokees. i am afraid to drive the vehicle as this can happen anytime and it is unsafe. to drive. looking on the jeep website they have issued a service bulletin that covers the exact issue - electronic parking brake module connector water intrusion. the problem that they claim is due to water damage and it is in a spot where i find it hard to believe any water can get in.*dt *tp
Car dashboard displays "service park brake" and "4wd system temporarily unavailable". car is stationed. when putting car on drive, it does not move when accelerating. emergency parking button was looked into and it did not resolve the issue.
I parked my car on main street in town to pick up my mail. when i got ready to leave my emergency parking break was on. ( i never put e brake on,bit did it by itself) i tried to disengage but it would not. i had to have car towed and it cost me $611.28 in repairs. we were told water and corrosion was found in electric parking brake module and connector. i have been researching this and have found there are several complaints. we called jeep who told us there was an issue with the e brake but my vin number didn't match. obviously it should. very frustrated with jeep at this point. water should not be getting into the module. that is a manufacturer deffect and should be covered as such and recalled.
While driving on a 4 lane highway at 65 mph the vehicle partially lost power and would not accelerate, up shift, or ownshift, the brake lights started flashing, along with many other lights on the dash including check engine. i pulled over to the side of the highway and shut off the jeep. i waited a minute then started it back up. the service parking brake message was on the message center, the odometer is blinking, and 4wd is temporarily unavailable. i had it looked at by a mechanic and they showed me the park brake module had water intrusion and was very much corroded.

My wife was driving the car on the highway and suddenly lost power and began slowing down. fortunately no accident happened. the dashboard showed that it had transmision problems. when we bought the car we mentioned the sales person that we felt that the transmission wasn't working good but he answered was that this was something normal. the dealer fixed the break booster about a year ago but the car still shows a low break. this happened when my wife was driving the car and the car suddenly stoped in the middle of the street.
