Below you may see the ELECTRICAL SYSTEM components and the number of complaints they received.
The van suddenly shuts itself off (engine stalled, no radio, no lights on dash) while driving. it feels like a "parked" vehicle moving on the road.*tr
On july 15, 2017 we were loading the van for vacation and the passenger sliding door fell off, landing on my 14 year daughters leg/foot. on august 28,...
Automatic sliding doors apply dangerous pressure to people before retracting. i have been hurt twice by being crushed and bruised by doors closing on...
2/5/2020 i was traveling at highway speeds with moderate traffic, when the main display screen in my minivan started flashing error messages. the radio display screen was acting wacky also. the van started making a loud rapid 'click.click.click." type noise. i was trying to figure out what was happening, when i noticed that the display said "p" for park. i could not accelerate to merge out of traffic. it happened so fast and was so startling. i was able to coast and move over to the shoulder and stop the van. i turned off the ignition and started it back up and it drove normally. my husband took it to the dealership and they moved the toll tag sticker on the windshield and said it was interfering with the sensors. 2/6/2020 i was too scared to drive it, so my husband drove it. he was on the freeway and the same thing happened to him. it is currently at the dealership. the dealership now says it is loose connections at the battery. the noise it made was horrible and i'm concerned that there is physical damage to the vehicle. the van has just over 5,000 miles on it ...
Initially the vehicle would randomly turn off while driving, it was not the idle stop since it is deactivated before driving. the dealer eventually said it was the battery. then the infotainment system stopped working, the radio was replaced after a week of being at the dealer. now 3 weeks after repair, the infotainment system does not work. has a noise that comes out of the speakers like sparks, has a chemical smell, no res usage, no cabin watch or cabin talk. everything that made the elite trim desired does not work.
The car has 27,000 miles on it. the engine mount is being replaced due to it being bad, the radio is very delayed and crashes and the sliding door keeps sticking and i have to force it closed.
Frequent loud crackling noises come from the speakers, followed by a network connection lost error message on the screen, and then the screen will go black and eventually the system will reboot. this will happen repeatedly while driving and does not depend on the state or use of the infotainment system (it can be off and still happen). there seems to be a correlation with going over a bump, suggesting a loose connection somewhere. when restarting or off, the radio, climate controls and the backup camera are all unavailable. this is a safety hazard as it distracts the driver and also prevents usage of the backup camera. began happening intermittently at around 1500 miles and now at ~1700 miles it happens essentially all the time. please address this issue soonest possible. many people buying honda cars and not aware of these issues !!!
When we start the engine all the errors come up saying that the vhs failed, the electronics stability failed, brake system failed and all the other components. we have purchased 2 odyssey and they both have that problems. when we called honda they told us to repair it as it was our fault. after few starts it goes away. we went to our mechanic and they reset the codes and it has gone away for now but there is an on going issue with the odyssey. so honda has recalled the pilot but not the mini van. same problems.
While driving on a trip at about 60 mph, the infotainment system stopped working, nothing was functional, including the back-up camera which i heavily rely on. this is a safety issue. in addition, once the vehicle was shut off, the infotainment system wouldn't turn off and started draining the battery. i ended up having to pull the fuse to get it to shut off, which is ver difficult to access. i have had this vehicle to the dealer, they say there is no fix currently available. i am not comfortable using the infotainment system at all in the vehicle, which was one of the main reasons for purchasing.
Van will start periodically. but the next day the battery will be dead & has been jumped off with jump box & other vehicles assist. but battery is new, terminals cleaned. van will not even make a clicking sound. i feel that there is evidence of faulty ignition switch, starter relay or parked/neutral safety switch & maybe more depending on chassis electrical. the vehicle is also stationary until the next morning.this happens to be my wife's vehicle... need this fixed asap..
The navigation screen stays black. no backup camera, can't change the radio, use the phone or change air flow or get directions from the screen. some days it doesn't come on at all, others it comes on while driving. you never know, very frustrating. i feel lucky if it comes on when i first start the car. this is unacceptable in a brand new vehicle.
One day after changing engine oil at honda dealershop last week monday, there was flickering on dash board after turning the power off. the symptom was getting worse and on sunday and monday (yesterday), the car horn honking itself. and yesterday, the dash board power couldn't be turned off when i turned the power switch off (engine off luckily) and the flickering got worse last night. so, i did unplug the battery with a worry of fully drained battery overnight. today morning, i plug the battery back and get the same issue, and luckily ignite the engine and went to dealer shop again. they did diagnosis and said keyless access control unit needs to be replaced. here is the summary of the symptoms: last week flickering dash board with fcw system failed. and honking itself with keeping flickering. yesterday, i saw error message of "keyless system error". and i went to dealershop in this morning. here is my speculation: during oil change, there was oil spilling, which causes shorting of circuitry (or technician accidently hit some parts inside). it causes frequent on/off of electronic system, ending up breaking the keyless access control unit. the dealer didn't say anything, but ...
I purchased a new 2019 honda odyssey elite on 9/17/2019. i drove to work as usual, made sure all electricals (e.g., dome lights, headlights, etc.) were off, parked and alarmed my vehicle. car remained parked while i worked. after my shift, i tried to use the remote engine start, but noticed the car didn't start. i pressed the unlock button on key fob, but no response; the car remained locked. i tried to unlock via hondalink app, which displayed that car was unlocked. i attempted to open any car door, but they remained locked. i was left stranded in 94*f heat and no nearby shade. luckily my family weren't there or they would've also been left baking in the heat. i used the manual key to unlock the driver side door and got in. then tried to start the car but no response at all (i.e, no lights on the hud, lcd monitors, etc.). also tried unlocking other doors from inside; nothing worked. called honda roadside assistance & they sent someone to help. guy tried jump starting car, still nothing. said he even sent "direct current" to car, but absolutely no response; no lights of any kind, no access to ...
