Vehicle failed state inspection due to excessive corrosion in the rear frame and the risk of the rear-trailing separating from the frame and likelihood of an ensuing accident. the inspection station strongly recommended against repair due to the stress point, and integrity of the surrounding structures. i opened case # 10157114 with american honda, and they have the documentation of the issue along with pictures taken by an authorized honda dealer. this same issue was identified in 2019 by transport canada recall # 2019025. honda canada's statement regarding the recall: "excessive corrosion to the rear frame may result in frame stiffener perforation and, in extreme cases, cause the rear-trailing arm to separate from the vehicle's frame structure. a separated rear-trailing arm may cause the vehicle to be difficult to control, increasing the risk of a crash." american honda (usa) refuses to recognize the issue, and insists this is only a honda canada issue. the problem with that stance is that canadian production of the cr-v model did not begin until the 2012 model year. cr-vs for both the canadian and us markets for ...
2008 cr-v subframe/rear control arm rusted so severely came apart while driving. very fortunate there was not an accident, this caused sudden loss of control of vehicle. had to be towed and is now inoperable and unable to be repaired. there is a recall in canada to address this condition, why not the united states? we contacted honda customer service to inquire and no response from them. this is a very dangerous condition that gave no warning. the body is not rusted.
I own a 2018 crv purchased new in august 2018. while sitting at a stop light on a slightly drizzly, approximately 45-ish degree morning this week, i heard a loud bang/explosion followed by a slight crackling noise right over my head. i immediately pulled my sunroof shade shut and when i arrived at work (about a 1/2 mile down the road), i discovered that my sunroof had completely shattered. because i pulled the shade closed, the glass did not fall in to the vehicle so there was no injury sustained. my route is one i do daily and does not include an overpass or overhangs. there was no indication that anything had been thrown/fallen on my roof. there is no other damage to the body/roof. i believe the sunroof spontaneously shattered. when i spoke with my honda dealer's service department, they transferred me to an outside body shop to repair out of pocket. when i spoke to the dealer's finance office about my warranty, they informed me that no glass repair is covered under my warranty or extended warranty and that i needed to submit under my comprehensive car insurance. my insurance did ultimately cover the damage although they were ...
I just had a high car accident and my airbag did not deploy but the other car did. my car is a total.
Tl* the contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2009 honda cr-v. while the driver was driving and making a turn, the frame fractured and the rear passenger wheel disconnected. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the frame was rotted out. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
I purchased my 2018 crv exl in late november 2018. since then the windshield has been chipped twice (repaired both times) and cracked two other times - requiring windshield replacement at $1,200 (oem) each time. i've driven the same normal paved roads/highways that i've driven for the last 25 years - having only experienced two windshield cracks across all my previous vehicles during all those years. my personal experience combined with accounts from other gen5 honda crv owners and observations by the windshield repair shop indicate that gen5 honda crvs have insufficiently strong/durable oem windshields. as a result i am concerned about safety should my family be in a serious accident. in addition, my insurance agent has informed me that another windshield repair/replacement claim is likely to increase either my insurance premium or deductible - accordingly i paid out-of-pocket for the last chip repair. i believe honda needs to design a stronger replacement windshield and/or extend the warranties to cover windshield damage.
On 9/23/19 parked the vehicle. shut off vehicle while still in drive. the vehicle did not alert me that the car was not in park. got out of car and door locked like everything was okay - no other beeps or notifications. vehicle rolled out of driveway and hit a tree causing significant rear damage (thankfully did not hit any other vehicle or pedestrian). brought to honda dealership and they could not find anything although i explained that the warning indicators work intermittently. finally on 10/2/19 i videotaped an incident where it did not alert me in anyway when i shut the car off and left in the drive gear (images from video attached). honda states emergency parking brake should always be engaged; however, this does not fix the fact that the safety notifications are not working as expected. definitely a vehicle safety issue.
I recently brought my 10 year old car in for its yearly state safety inspection and i was informed that corrosion on the left rear underside of the car was irreparable. this included corrosion between the uni body and undercarriage, compromising the integrity of the control arms. after doing research online, i noted that honda has an active recall in canada for a similar defect, but not in the us. i contacted honda of north america and asked if they could provide any assistance or compensation for this issue, which essentially renders the car unusable, and they told me they could not.
