Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2018 Honda CR-V

From 3,500 to now 9,500mi 5 seperate occasions sensor suite has quit functioning for from 10mi to a 100mi till come back on. in all but 1 time (which recurred going to dealer) by coming to stop or restarting engine has returned to normal. still have throttle, brake, gas guage, lights etc but no functions that require pushbutton or sensing functions. all happened while at hyw speeds. 1 time car totally quit (like shut off with switch) for a sec free rolling at 65mph then came on where left off.

Adaptive cruise control "on". two incidents in the past year the car's braking sytem activated as if i were going to hit something. i was on the interstate and no cars were within 500 to 1000 feet and no other objects were observed. then twice in the past month the flashing "brake" light appeared on the dash panel indicating i should slow down as i may hit something. again, this occurred on the nterstate and no cars or objects were anywhere near me. this last incident occurred on 01/01/2020.

Whenever i start my car in the morning or after being parked for hours, the car does not move past 10-15mph even when i step harder on the accelerator. the car will sometimes come to a complete stop in the middle of the road when i step on the accelerator. i have to turn the engine on and off a couple of times as well as drive around slowly before the accelerator will respond.

I experienced unintended sudden acceleration of the vehicle on 11/29/2019 around 1pm. i was slowing to a stop a a stop sign when the engine suddenly revved up to above 3000rpm. i immediately applied the brakes with more force and stopped the vehicle while the engine continued to rev between 3000 and 5000rpm. while holding the brakes firmly, i shut off the engine and then confirmed that my foot was only on the brake pedals and not touching the accelerator. there happens to be a police officer behind me at the time and he came up to my vehicle to see what the problem was. i explained the issue and he suggested i start the vehicle again to see if the problem still persists. i did so and immediately the engine revved up again above 3000 rpms. the police officer concurred that this was not normal and i shut off the engine again. by this time a second officer arrived on the scene. after consulting briefly, they were about to call a tow truck for me when the second officer suggested that i try starting the vehicle one more time. when i did, the vehicle returned to normal operations. i took my vehicle to the honda dealership immediately upon returning home. however, after inspection, the technician was not able to identify any problems. this is the second time i have taken this vehicle to the dealership for this issue because i have experienced the same problem multiple times in the past under similar conditions.

Stalling while i was traveling in traffic. oil dip stick smells like gasoline is "overfull" on oil mark. *ln vehicle hesitated and stalled because ok had been drained to a lower level once and replaced 2 times. consumer stated fuel injectors were replaced. *jb

Vehicle was traveling westbound on i-90 in massachusetts in the travel lane at between 65-68 mph. the cruise control was not engaged; the lane keeping assist feature was not active. it was around 7:00 pm. no cars in the passing lane. a tractor trailer was about 200-300 feet in front. the dashboard chimed and displayed the following three warning messages: collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist system. the first time each message was displayed a chime sounded; the messages continued to rotate through the display for the next thirty minutes. the messages stopped when we got home and put the car in the garage in park. additionally, the light for 'brake system' (near the temperature gauge) came on. i brought the car in today for service (it just happened that it was scheduled for an oil change); i told the service advisor about what had happened; the technician working on the vehicle said no codes were being displayed. he took it for a ride but could not get the messages to come up (it only happened one time). the service advisor said it was probably 'just a glitch'.

The collision mitigation system part of honda sensing will automatically and randomly engage while driving, causing the breaks to be self applied abruptly even when there is nothing in front of the car. this is extremely dangerous and almost caused multiple accidents. honda doesn't believe there is a problem. this has happened multiple times already.

3 time while driving on the fwy 65 mph with the cruise control activated, lane control activated, and the distance set to minimum, with no one in front of me, the car detected the car to the right of me and slammed on the brakes, and causing the person behind me to slam on their brake almost causing an accident. this happened between april of 2019 and oct of 2019. when i brought it into the dealership they said that there was dirt on the milliwave radar, found code p2583-97, i found this to be highly unlikely because the car was spotless. the second time i took the car to the dealership, they said the could not duplicate the problem. when asked how they diagnosed the car they said they drove it 10 miles down a bolsa chica rd. i told the sevice person that that was not the same conditions as i was driving and that they could not have gotten the car up to 65 mph when the speed limit was 45 mph and it wasn't a fwy. her response was we are not allowed to drive cars on the fwy. i said then how are you do duplicate the condition of the problem. this car has been into the dealership for multable electronic issue, none of which have been solved yet. all i get is the same answer, cant duplicate the problem. i believe this car has had these problems since it was sold new and the person before me turned this car in with only 8000 miles on it for a new car that they could trust. this is a safety issue ad could cause me to get into an accident thats not my fault.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 honda cr-v. while driving 50 mph and exiting a freeway, the forward collision avoidance system independently activated and caused the vehicle to come to an immediate stop. the vehicle also lunged to the right. the contact stated that the failure also occurred on another occasion while driving 30 mph. john eagle honda of dallas (5311 lemmon ave, dallas, tx 75209) was called at (214) 431-5997 and an appointment was made to have the vehicle diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 2,800. *bf*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 honda cr-v. while driving between 55 and 60 mph, the brake warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle decelerated independently. in addition, while driving with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle decelerated from 58 to 45 mph independently. don ayres honda (4740 lima rd, fort wayne, in 46808, (260) 484-0551) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 6,700.

I have had an issue with the adaptive cruise control multiple (10-12) times. the cr-v seems to "lose" the car in front causing it to accelerate (if the person in front of you is going slower than your cruise is set for). then when it "finds" the car again and it brakes suddenly. i took the car into the dealer about a week and a half ago complaining. they could not reproduce the issue and sent me along with no fix.

Lane departure and collision control often engage without cause. twice i have been driving and the lane departure sensors go off and vehicle automatically brakes for no obvious reason. it appears that it may be falsely reading shadows or wet roadways. one incident was on a city street at about 40 mph. the other was on the interstate at around 70 mph.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 20 mph and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to respond. the vehicle was taken to ken vance honda (located at 2802 lorch ave, eau claire, wi 54701, (715) 318-1641) for a software update, abut the failure recurred. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the contact attempted to notify the manufacturer, but was unsuccessful. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 honda cr-v. while driving 5 mph with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle accelerated. as a result, the contact rear ended another vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. there were no injuries. a police report was filed. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to an independent body shop for the body repairs. the contact called lundgren honda of auburn at (844) 224-8641 (located at 163 washington st, auburn, ma 01501) and was informed to schedule a diagnostic appointment after the body repair was completed. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 23,000. the vin was not available.

2018 honda cr-v bought new, only has 475 miles and getting collision mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist problem warning lights are on and we cannot set the adaptive cruise control or use any of these safety features. i've found a blog that has many instances of the same problems and worse to include brake failure. we are taking it to the dealer, brandon honda, brandon fl tomorrow. this should not happen on a brand new car.

I was first in line in the left lane on a cross over to a one way street that goes from right to left. i was at a stop waiting for a time i could turn and try to get over 4 lanes of traffic. there are 4 lanes on the one way street which is m-59 also know as hall road and i was going to have to go fast as i was going to have to first get in the far left lane and then cross over the other 3 lanes to the right and exit at a drive to where i was trying to get to. i knew it was going to take maximum acceleration and a deft touch to get over there safely. as i tried to do this and as i made my first move into the left lane, my car hesitated and did not give me the full acceleration i was expecting. this caused all the timing i needed to make this maneuver safely go out the window and put me in a precarious situation. i had to make in my opinion a very dangerous movement to the right to avoid a car that was closing in fast from behind because i could not get the speed up. this is the first time this has happened on this car. i was able to get where i wanted to go but now have no confidence in the reliability of trying to make this maneuver again.

The cruise control is hypervariable - when combined with a lane warning system, it dropped us out of cruise (at 70mph) when passing a large truck in the right lane. very unsafe to be all of a sudden in the left lane slowing down when we we trying to speed past the 18-wheeler. dealer said the 'sensitivity' of the lane warning system 'caught the truck creeping close' to the line -- we didn't see that at all. also, the lane warning system is quite intermittent - only about 2 out of 5 times does the right hand warning signal something (like drifting near a shoulder) as designed.

I purchased my first honda cr-b 2018 at the end of sept. 2018 and today is nov 4, 2018 and this car has been out of order for @4 weeks. the cruise control system, lane departure system, vehicle distant control system, and the brake system lights are all lit up and flashing. none of the systems that are supposed to aid in driving safety is working. the systems stopped working while driving. two trips to two different dealerships and the issue has not been resolved. i will make a third trip on the next business day.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 honda cr-v. while the vehicle was parked, the gear shifter failed to fully engage and the vehicle suddenly surged at a high rate of speed. as a result, the vehicle crashed into the garage door, a wall, and into the steps near the mud room of the house. the driver was unable to slow down the vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was not filed. the driver sustained injuries to the left side of the body, including the arms, hips, back, and minor bruising. medical treatment was not received. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the crash. the dealer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

Fatal acc/lkas "honda sensing problem" with "amber warning light" on dash, and system all locked up while on i75 on the way home from work. when i exited at the light, i turned-the-car off and it cleared the error message. cruise control was not engaged. new car. only 1-day old. called and reported to dealer but not response yet. appears to be a serious safety violation based on internet search of other customers with same problem. recommend priority assignment with honda.

I was pulling my honda crv into a short driveway to park in front of a closed garage door. my speed was less than 5 mph. as i was in the driveway within 5-6 feet of the closed garage door, the engine revved and car suddenly accelerated. i could no longer feel the accelerator directly under my foot and applying the brake did nothing to stop the car. acceleration continued, car went through garage door and crashed into concrete wall at the back of the garage. not sure what speed the car was traveling when crash occurred. given the short distance, maybe 20-30 mph. airbags deployed. no issue with floor mats or other objects near the accelerator.

Sudden acceleration. had foot on the brake in a parking spot, the car suddenly accelerated. the engine raced and the car propelled forward, jumped the curb and stopped when hitting a tree. the accelerator pedal was not touched, and the braked did not hold it. luckily, no one was in front of the car. honda has denied any responsibility, and the dealer could not duplicate the problem. have had the car for 3 months, and 1800 miles. obviously, the first time this has happened. now we are afraid to get the car, since someone may be killed the next time the car decides to act up. please help

Cmbs system not working from day of purchase 5/14/18. although not operative during test drives 2 dealers stated nothing they could do.

Returning to maryland from indiana in several locations along i-70, i-79, i-68 auto braking engaged for no reason at all. road crews plow with blade slightly above pavement possibly avoiding damage to rumble strip so we can't see lane divider lines or edge of road solid line when accidently touch the rumble strip brakes engage immediately when beeps alone should suffice. other times it appeared the system thought we were about to have a head on collision and again braked suddenly and often. we think the headlights of cars way off in the distance where trees near them created a kind of strobe effect fooled the sensors where ever they are. i had to cancel all safety systems to avoid more problems like this. solution recommended: require honda to allow us to turn off auto braking in bad weather so sensors don't cause panic to drivers not understanding what's happening. when roads are slick as ours were you really don't want vehicles sliding out of control because of a system intended to keep us safe. i can tell you drivers around us thought we were intentionally trying to cause mischief and i'm certain the only reason we did not have an accidental is because i put blizzac snow tires on my 2018 crv touring and kept my thumb over the cancel button so i could recover quickly but eventually had to disable all that because it happened too often. i get cramps in my leg when i can't use cruise control and i paid a lot of money so i would be able to use adaptive cruise and other safety systems that simply made this car more dangerous. i'm angry, frustrated and want something done about this!!! yes roads were sloppy, slick and traveling below speed limit of 70 because of conditions. only when we got to maryland did conditions improve. had to drive 1/3 of our 550 mile trip with these problems happening disengaging entirely after hagaarstown md. can't trust it.
