I purchase this car in june of 2019; i had the car for approx 5 months. i told the honda dealer mechanic that something was wrong with the brakes when i bought it. i brought it back in september. they claim they checked the brakes and everything was find. i had a maintenance check and an oil check. a month in half later i experience the problem with the brakes i was complaining about in september. on 11/14/19 i drove my car to a location no problems. i parked the car . when i went back to turn on the car that's when the brake lights came on saying electrical brake problem. i read they had a recall on the electrical brake system. i wonder did this car ever got fixed from the recall. turned my car on and the brake system light begin flashing stating electric parking brake problem. the red light continued blinking. the car was in park when this happen. the car was stationary. i drove the car on with the warning lights still on.
The vehicle experienced an intermittent but sudden and complete loss of braking power while driving on the highway moving at around 40mph. in part due to the low speed, the vehicle was safely maneuvered off the road once braking power was regained. the car dealership was able pin the issue to an electrical circuit failure in the brake control unit (honda error codes v300-49 and v3003-68) and recommended changing the vsa modulator unit. regular scheduled maintenance done on the vehicle just a month prior to the incident at the same dealership indicated no observed issues with braking. attached is the invoice of the vsa unit replacement work performed as recommended.
I purchased a brand new 2016 honda civic in march 2016. within the first 6-8 months i began having electrical brake problem issues and getting notifications regarding faulty brakes. i had to call honda roadside assistance at least twice within the first year of owning the vehicle due to the faulty brakes and being stranded. then came the electrical issues. i would lock the car and all windows would be up when leaving the car but i'd return to all windows down and the sunroof open! this happened twice within the first two years of owning the car! last but certainly not least is the battery issue. the battery won't last 10 months without issues! if you try to charge your car in accessory mode, the car battery will die and you will need a jump. i had aaa and used up all but one of my calls up on the battery issues this car has. my car insurance has roadside assistance and i had so many calls to get jumped because of this battery that i was told in june that my roadside assistance was revoked for a year!
Car did not start, and flashed warning signs for electronic break malfunction. car was stationary in a parking lot after being dormant for approximately 8 hours. this is the second occurrence in 3 weeks, the first of which honda failed to diagnose a problem after bringing the car in for service.
Had brakes done car ran perfectly fine until i drove about 71 miles out parked car and got back into car turned it on again to head back home when anti brake system warning lights came on this is electric parking brake problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem. the brake system light stays on and when accelerating the red brake light flashes until the car is either placed on cruise control or comes to a complete stop on on drive reverse it does not flash.
Parking does not start electric parking brake problem
The parking brake activates randomly without my manually activating it. it doesn't happen everyday but when it does its annoying.
Brake light came on flashing, brake system light, and error on panel electric parking break failure. this seems to be a recall on most 2016 models
While driving my vehicle the brakes slide (vibrate a little) this doesn't always occur but when it does it is obviously felt while using the brake pedal during driving. there is also a noise when i initially start my vehicle, i noticed the only warning light is the brake light alert.
While driving my 2016 honda ex-t dashboard lights started lighting up -emmision, eps, brake hold, etc the car immediately went into" limp mode" while traveling at 70 on the highway. i am told this caused a turbo problem and the turbo will have to be replaced. while researching on the internet this seems to be a common and reoccurring problem that is not being addressed. since it is a common problem it seems with out honda addressing the problem this will occur again with a new turbo. i am unsure if the multiple warning lights for problems that did not exist caused the turbo problems but it seems likely. since when these lights come on the car is designed to go into limp mode. this needs to be addressed. luckily i am an experienced driver and was able to handle the automatic drastic decline with out breaking while driving and coming to an almost complete stop. had the highway been busy this certainly would of resulted in an accident.
When i pulled into my driveway last night after work, my car dash lit up with alerts, one after another. i tried turning the vehicle off and on, and the lights did not go away. they are still on today. they were emissions system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (eps) problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, and hill start assist problem. i took a video of the alerts. i will try to upload a picture.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda civic. while driving highway speeds, the vehicle jerked and hesitated. occasionally, while operating the vehicle, multiple warning indicators illuminated, indicating failures with the braking system, steering, and stability control. when the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it operated normally. the failures were not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer (apple honda 1, 801 whiteford rd, york, pa) were notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 45,000.
The rear brakes are showing grooved rotors. also the back brakes are wearing quicker that the fronts . 7mmf . 5mmr. the mileage is 32000. i have a second car exactly the same except color. it has 16000 miles and the same problem is starting on it also. i believe honda is covering this up. they wouldn't investigate because i didn't have an ro number. i brought it back in to be checked and they wouldn't put "check rear brakes" on the ro. they said they always check the rear brakes and if there is no noise there is no problem. i was a licensed inspector years ago. i would never have passed a car with these rotors. see pics. perhaps it is from the parking brake recall? the rotors must have lost their temper from the brakes being applied by the parking brake problem.
This is my second complaint in a week. i had parked at a location 30 minutes from home for about an hour. went to start the car and it would not start. the brake seemed like it was already pushed down to the floor. a warning came across the screen that read brake system problem. i thought the battery was dead so i had it jumped and it started right away. this is ridiculous for a car that's 2 years old. i think i'll be getting rid of this car.
The vehicle was in motion on the highway and the brakes failed to apply as expected. this resulted in a rear end collision that fortunately didn't have any fatalities. the airbags also didn't deploy during the collision. the brake pedal was pressed all the way to the floor, but instead of a response back and pressure coming back from the braking system, the braking pedal felt loose and the car instead of coming to a stop, continued to slowly decelerate. i've been driving the car for 2 years and my expectation was that the car should have come to a complete stop instead of just slowing down within the distance between my car and the car in front. there were also no skid marks on the pavement. i suspect the brakes failed and have contacted the manufacturer, the dealership and the insurance company in trying to get this looked into by someone that can come up with a report on the status of the brakes. unfortunately nobody cared so far, so as a last resource i'm reaching out to nhtsa for possible guidance or even a braking system car inspection.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda civic. while driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but it was difficult to slow or stop the vehicle. when the vehicle was started, a "brake system failure" warning message appeared. the vehicle was towed to autonation honda thornton road (located at 1979 thornton rd, lithia springs, ga 30122, (770) 674-6078) where it was diagnosed that the brake software needed to be updated. the software was updated; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
My car would not start and on the dashboard under the mph it said electronic parking brake problem. after playing around with the parking brake a bit, the car eventually started. upon looking up my vin it shows i do not have a recall on my car for the kc6 recall, but my car seems to be affected. please help.
This is the second time in two years that my car doesn't start due to an electric brake problem. the first time it happened i was at home, and pressed the brake pedal to start the car, it immediately showed there was an electric brake problem on the dashboard. i had the car towed to the dealership, but unfortunately when we arrived the car started without any issues. they dismissed it and said it was probably a glitch in the system. today i started the car, drove to a store and when i was ready to leave the car would not start. this time everything flickered, the brake pedal became very stiff making it impossible for me to press down on it, and the same message was displayed on the dashboard "electric parking brake problem." i had the vehicle towed once again to the dealership. when they were inspecting it the car was functioning once again. no error message and the technician was able to start it without any problems. now my concern is obviously safety since the error message displayed on the dashboard shows it is a brake problem. i did some research and apparently i am not the only one that has experience this issue.
An error message keeps coming up on my center console, warning of an "electric braking problem." the red brake light to the bottom right also flashes. this always has happened when i turn the vehicle on. while this message is displayed, i am unable to move the car forward or in reverse. i have engaged the parking brake, and the message disappears. this has happened three or four times over a period of months since i bought the car. i purchased it in september 2016 as a new vehicle from a dealership in alexandria, louisiana. it was not included in a recall announced the month after, but i believe that recall should be expanded.
When brakes are applied, then released, it sometimes take up to two or three seconds to be able to accelerate afterward, even though i am stepping on the accelerator pedal. this is unnerving when entering an intersection (yielding) and you feel you have plenty of time to proceed, until the car fails to accelerate. honda states it is a safety feature in the event something were to accidentally depress the accelerator while braking. i feel otherwise.
This is my second time. parked car in garage ,after few hours tried to turn on.when we try to start it wonts, but the sign pops up saying electrical parking brake error..car had to be towed twice.lucky car was in garage when both incident happened.took it to dealer twice .today we picked it up found dftc u3ooo-49,ecu internal circuit failure.they performed software update.they said it is ok this time.can happen again.how can this problem be dealt? my daughter drives this car and she is moving to college in august and will need a car.hope this problem is dealt quickly.if not will need to replace another car.i feel this is not safe for her to use.
My car was parked and i tried to turn my car on and i stepped on my foot brake it felt real stiff than i attempted to push the start button but my car failed to start. several error codes popped up on my dashboard. (brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power stearing system (eps) problem vehicle stability assisst (vsa) peonlem, hill start assisst problem, electric parking brake problem, emissions problem.
Randomly i receive the following error message on my screen when starting my car, "brake system problem". the only way for me to remove the error is to start with my car in park, and move from r, n, d, s, l, and back up to park again. then i press the break hold on, then break hold off, parking break on, then parking break off, turn off the car, then turn the car back on and the error goes away. this has happened a number of times since i leased the car in 2016 and happened three times just in this month. always happens randomly. after taking the car to the dealership a number of times and letting them know of the issue they now run a full diagnostics that my warranty is out and think it has to do with a bad cell in the battery. so either there is a fault with the electrical break system or the batteries in the 2016 honda civics are bad. a quick google search will show that i am not the only person with this issue.
The collision mitigation braking system engages when there are no objects in front of the vehicle. the system has engaged erroneously numerous times, when driving on the highway and at high speeds (65-70 mph), and the brake engages attempting to bring my vehicle to a complete stop (hard brake). sometimes i have been able to get it to disengage, but i have had several "close calls" with drivers behind me nearly rear-ending me on the highway when my car unexpected braked (hard). one time, the brakes engaged on the highway with no one and nothing in front of me, and i had to pull over onto the shoulder quickly (to avoid the driver behind me rear-ending me) and got a flat tire as a result. i asked the dealership to fix the issue, but they said they could not get my vehicle to demonstrate/engage in the behavior i was describing, and therefore, said they could not fix it. i also reported it to honda warranty over the phone. they thanked me for reporting it and suggested i contact a dealership to get it fixed - the dealership did not fix it.
Soybean wiring attracting animals. i have had the car for 1 year and it has happend twice with over 6,000 worth or damage. locked brakes, steering, electrical . a child rides in the car, this is a known issue that was never explained to me. pulled over to park. after trying to restart my vehicle it would not start even with a jump all systems, brakes steering locked.
Milo gordon honda misrepresented the repair of a safety recall and sold a 2016 honda civic as a new vehicle without completing the repair. on dec 31 2016, i purchased a new 2016 honda civic from milo gordon honda in lawton, ok. today, sep 1, 2017, my electronic brake system malfunctioned in a stationary position on a cross-country trip. after the malfunction, i took the vehicle to orr honda of paris tx where i discovered the recall of 2016 honda civics. orr honda conducted a vin inquiry that showed the software update was completed on oct 12, 2016, prior to my purchase of the vehicle; however, the service department tested my physical vehicle and the required update to the brake system was never made. it appears milo gordon honda updated the vin database without ever repairing the actual car, then proceeded to sell it as a new vehicle. after this discovery, orr honda upgraded the electronic brake system in accordance with the recall issued in 2016. I received a letter stating that my car had a recall for the emergency brake system. i took it to the dealership to have it fixed however the recall is still open on my vehicle.
The electric parking brake continues to generate error codes. i've had it in service at honda dealers multiple times for the same problem. honda even issued a recall however, i've had the software update for this problem twice and is still messing up. it has engaged the parking brake on its own.
On two occasions, my civic has "locked up". upon starting the vehicle, all of the warning light illuminate and the car won't go into gear. i was stuck where i was and had to get the car moving so i forcefully engaged the vehicle by inserting the key into the shift knob area. when driving the car, all of the warning lights were still on and the steering wheel was difficult to move, the vehicle was very hard to maneuver, the brakes did not work well, and the problem persisted. i eventually disconnected the battery and "reset" the computer that way. the problem went away for a few months, then came back again same exact way. the next time, i did the same thing, disconnected the battery and it reset. i do not know if this problem is with the electrical system, transmission, braking, or whatever. all i know is it was very dangerous to drive after i was finally able to engage the transmission. one other point to make, i already had the "parking brake recall" software update completed by honda. the dealership said they did not have a recall for this type of problem and all they could do would be restart the car until they were able to recreate the problem. i did no think this was a good use of time (theirs or mine) so i am hoping for a recall soon!
Rear wheels lock intermittently. excessive rear rotor wear, with normal wear on pads. appears as if pads have worn out allowing for grinding against rotors. however, pads exhibit normal wear. honda offers no explanation for corrosion. for comparison have attached photos of rear rotor and front rotor. rear rotors exhibit significant wear/corrosion with pad life around 60%. this is equal on both rear wheels of the vehicle. front rotors have normal wear @70% pad remaining. california based vehicle, but exposed to snow and winter driving. rear wheels lock on an intermittent basis, as if rear parking brake is being applied. potentially very dangerous, especially in cold weather driving.
The ac has went out on two occasions. the first occasion was due to the system needing to be recharged. the second being a hose was not connected correctly. the back tweeter speakers went out and had to be replaced. 3 audio updates needed to be done. while driving the car stopped accelerating and the car started shaking. there was no brakes or power steering at this time. different codes started lighting up the dash. i was able to get the car stopped and off the road into the ditch area. it is currently at honda.
Breaking system recall not performed by honda dealership, even when asked and talked about. asked service member and the general manager, both took a "do not care" approach. i feel this should be investigated. this is roper honda in joplin, mo.
While driving the vehicle on city streets the (brake hold) light turns on then it brakes the vehicle on its own in the middle of the road and turns on the (hold) light . in order to continue driving i need to restart the engine back on. this has 3 times already. *tr
I am still having brake system issues and not allowing me to gear and drive! since letter for recall in november, which already set appointment with dealership to reprogram or reboot system they stated would take care of,i have been back twice after that. i also have issues with the warning exclamation light flashing and was told all's fine the new cars are sensitive when take. my bluetooth connect acts up all time where not even being able to use amenities paying for with car.i'm pissed because now outside movie theater with kids and stuck again break locked. beyond a little inconvenience now. i have never had a bad experience with honda until got this 2016 honda civic *tr
The honda civic was in the driveway with the emergency brake set when it was parked. the vehicle has a manual transmission. a few hours later the car alarm was going off and when i went to look to see what was going on i discovered that the car had rolled down the drive and into a telephone pole. the police in my jurisdiction do not take accident reports for accidents on private property therefore a police report was not taken. after the incident i found that there was a active recall involving the emergency brake. when i bought the car on october 8, 2016 i was told there was a "do not sell" note in the computer system due to the recall. the dealer said they could do the download while we did the paperwork. after this incident involving the wreck the car was taken to a local dealer who checked the download and confirmed that the download was up to date. the car was taken back to the dealer two days later to have the brake system inspected which the dealer stated that there were no codes found in the system. this was done at the advice of honda customer service. honda customer service contacted me today and stated that at this time they recommend proceeding with an insurance claim. i stated that i thought that since there was an active recall and the recall had been performed on the vehicle and the emergency brake still failed that they would want to take the car to look at. i was told that they would look at the dealer reports and if they found something they would contact me back which seems dangerous to me. what's to say the brake won't fail again and next time there may be someone behind it or in front of it. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda civic. while driving approximately 35 mph, the brake system and tire pressure warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to mistlin honda (4754 mchenry ave, modesto, ca 95356, (209) 549-5000) where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and opened case number: 05813896. the approximate failure mileage was 57,160.
Our 2016 honda civic touring car emergency braking system from time to time would not work properly when operating under normal circumstances. took the car into the dealership in scottsdale, arizona called right honda. they took the car twice to help fix the problem with the auto braking system. nevertheless, right honda drove the car around 81 miles an hour. we have a gps tracking device on the car that alerts us when someone is driving unprofessional. the right honda was shown and asked why they drove our car so fast at an unprofessional speed on a public street in arizona. the service manager just told me it was for testing purposes, to get the car to react. we told them that it was very unprofessional to drive our car at such high speeds and they added that if we do not like it we can take our car somewhere else in the future. we also let honda america know about the problem and they just told us that they are not responsible for right honda?s actions for their unprofessional actions. the good note is that we think right honda might have finally fixed the emergency braking system problems we were having, when our 2016 honda civic touring car would stop by itself from time to time without an object in front of our car. but do not like how honda america and right honda dealership handled the situation. feel they need a lot of help in the customer service category. including, no dealership should drive anyone?s car criminally ever. *tr
My vehicle break some time docent work....lighting is not proper and engine does nice even i do servicing and mention them but it got ignored by service center
2016 honda civic. consumer writes in regards to parking brake system failure. *smd the consumer stated the parking brakes had a software update performed them twice and the computer u3000-49 was replaced. the power windows also failed. updated 06/06/2017*js
The electric emergency brake failed. the car was parked, ignition turned off, emergency brake applied, and left the vehicle. when i returned, the car had rolled backwards down a road and slammed into another parked car causing damage to both vehicles. no injuries related to the accident. police report is not available yet. we found about the recall that was issued in mid-october but we have not been notified/contacted yet.
Me an my boyfriend almost got into an accident when the engine of our vehicle stopped working in the middle of the highway. luckily we were able to pull over at the last second when the engine actually stopped. we were still in a dangerous area and i couldn't even describe to aaa where were. fortunately a tow truck driver was passing by and saw us on the side of the road and stopped to help us. just to give some back story my boyfriend was reading an article about a recall for the piston ring/clip affecting the engine on the 2016 honda civics and we immediately went to our dealership and had the car inspected. we were told that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and that there was not a recall on the vehicle. later on warning lights in the car started to turn on included the brake and engine light. we had a worker at autozone check the lights with one of their tools and were told the lights may have been turned off in the initial inspection of the vehicle prior to our purchase. we went back twice speaking to the manager and service team and were turned away with a list of all of the lights on in the vehicle with no remedy to fix any of the issues. when we brought up the recall again we were told our car did not fall under it. because of their negligence i and my boyfriend could ave lost our lives in an accident on the highway. we bought the car may 2016 and the recall was issued february 2016 and was still open at the time of purchase considering the parts to fix the piston problem would not be available until summer. so we were sold a car with an open recall and the issue was not fixed prior to purchase. now i am stranded without a car because the engine has sustained damage due to this issue. i want my money back and i no longer want this faulty and unsafe vehicle, and i do not trust honda to fix the issue. we need your help nhtsa!
Cover for center brake light keeps coming loose, obscuring rear window and flooding interior with red light when brake is applied at night. known issue, but dealers do not have guidance on how to permanently fix it.
Upon startup vsa, tpms, cmbs, brake warning illuminated at 4400 miles. power steering failed. delivered to dealer for repair.
Takata recall hey, my car honda civic coupe broke down in september reason was tire and brake i think. i was driving in regular speed and my tire blowoff and brake didn't work in same time. i run over the hill and broke my both excel.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 honda civic. the contact stated that the electric parking brake, brake hold system, and air bag srs warning indicators flashed, and the lane keep assist warning indicator deactivated. the vehicle lost power and various warning indicators and gauges flickered. the contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. the vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to a dealer. the dealer was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure, but test drove the vehicle. the vehicle was left at the dealer. the contact placed two calls to the manufacturer, left a voice message, and was waiting for a response. the vin and failure mileage were not available.
Third brake light housing feel off the same day that i purchased the vehicle. at night, the entire rear window lights up when i brake. this is a blinding and distracting light that prevents me from seeing out of my back window. this is a safety concern. dealer refuses to fix this as per instructions from honda.
Rear high mount brake light coming off windshield the evening i took delivery of vehicle. took it back to dealer where they tried to reattach it. the repair lasted a day. they ordered a new assembly and tried to attach it. the assembly was unglued before i got home. it has not yet come fully off, but it is a distraction and, when using the brakes at night, obscures my vision through the rear windshield. dealer said this is a known defect an are waiting on honda of america to come up with a repair. very poor engineering on honda's part and i don't know what i'm going to do if/when the thing comes fully off. i was driving home the first time i took notice of the problem. the car was stationary when i noticed it the second time. i don't think movement was a factor, just poor design and adhesion. *tr
Electronic brake failure - turned vehicle on in driveway, brakes locked. car towed. honda has a work around process to avoid this. i read posts that this occurred to people while driving on highway. i do not feel safe in this car. honda does not have a fix for this problem.
I parked my 2016 honda civic in my garage and set the parking brake. i exited the vehicle and walked into the house. the vehicle must have rolled out of the garage (garage surface is rather flat, probably why i didn't see this happen) down my sloped driveway ended up in the neighbors yard. vehicle sustained damage to the exhaust, bumper, underside of trunk and right rear tire. thank goodness that nobody was injured. at the time i thought maybe i made a mistake but now that honda has issued a recall on the parking brake i understand what really happened. i did set the parking brake but it appears that it did not ever set. i have since seen this happen again when i have parked on other somewhat flat surfaces and returned to my vehicle and it appears as though it had moved a small amount. with the release of details in the safety recall (nhtsa campaign number: 16v725000 ) i now understand more about what happened.
1. vehicle about 10 days after purchase while in motion on a city street suddenly stopped and all the lights came on. towed back to dealership, found abs modulator leaking. 2. about 3 months later car was stationary in a parking lot would not start. towed back to dealership and transmission control module was faulty.
