Takata recall, how long does honda expect us to wait for them to replace the airbags? is 3 months long enough or 6 months ? its a great hardship not allowing a passenger to sit in the front seat
Takata recall-on may 24, 2016, on an unusual hot and humid day on the lower maryland shore, i watched my 17 year old daughter pull into a parking space - sidewalk in front of the space. i watched the car come to a stop and within seconds i watched the car jump onto the sidewalk. as i walked over to the car i saw that the airbags had deployed. the side, curtain airbags. i opened the car door, the car full of dust, my daughter crying and badly bruised and had to be taken to the hospital. she does not know what happened, nor do i. as a result of that incident, the car was totaled. the payoff did not cover the amount of the financing and my insurance company dropped our good driver rate, flagged my daughter and increased my insurance by $100 a month. at the time i called honda and explained what happened, i gave them the vin number but was told there was no recall and what was i looking for. now eight months later the truth has come out. *tr
Honda initiated this recall on may 23, 2016 (almost a year now) and they still dont have a solution. details of the recall: may 23,2016 manufacturer recall number: ka5 nhtsa recall number: 16v-346 recall status recall: incomplete, remedy not yet available and they advise not to have someone sit in front seat until recall is complete. that means no one can sit in passenger seat of my car indefinitely !!! honda should work on this fast and find a solution for the recall at the earliest. but clearly they are not working on it.

This is to add to nhtsa complaint #10595971. the youtube url address that i originally posted is incorrect. here is the correct url address to view my vehicle?s defect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiyznf6igbe&sns=em this is another youtube video of a different 2010 civic (not mine) who is having a similar problem with the water leak: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehube9ydmm8&sns=em. *tr
There is a water leak inside of my 2010 honda civic lx that occurs when it rains.the water leak is evident around the driver's side curtain air bag and other sections which may not be visible.see my youtube video that i made which shows the problem as it is occurring: http://youtu.be/xiyznf6igbe one of my biggest concern is that the water leak will corrode the side curtain airbag and prevent it from working properly in an accident. a search on youtube and google about the water leak on that type of vehicle revealed that other honda civic customers are having the same issue. since my video upload of the issue, at least one person has e-mailed me via my youtube account and requested for me to let him know how the issue is resolved because he is also having the same problem. when i noticed the water leak i contacted honda motors and had the vehicle checked out at sloane honda's service department in philadelphia, pa. however the service department was not able to replicate the water leak and therefore are not able to determine the source of the problem. the service department completed the assessment as a courtesy to me.the vehicle has approximately 28k miles; however the warranty is expired because the vehicle which is a 2010 model is over 3 years old. because the water leak was not able to be replicated at the service location, honda motors is unwilling to go any further with addressing the issue. any further visits to the service station would require for me to pay out of pocket since the vehicle is no longer under warranty. my request for honda motors to extend their manufacturer's warranty until the source of the water leak is identified and the problem fixed was denied. please assist in resolving this issue with my vehicle and other's who are experiencing the same problem. maybe a recall to identify and correct the problem is warranted. thank you. *tr
My daughter was driving this vehicle , just departing from a red light in the middle of the intersection, a newer tahoe slammed their brakes on suddenly, the civic was completely under the tahoe, the car (civic) was totaled. front bumper completely off the car. although the car was a complete loss, as i came onto the scene i noticed the airbags did not deploy at all. i asked the police investigator why. he did not have an answer and thought it was very unusual. i then called the honda corporation as well as the insurance company. they say "due to the low speed impact, they usually do not set off the sensors. what? the entire bumper where the sensors are located was ripped completely off, yet they say it was due to low speed impact. my daughter had major whip-lash, her chest was bruised very badly by the steering wheel and is still having pain in her top back. i am especially grateful my daughter was not hurt worse, but the reason i buy hondas is due to safety features as promised. *tr
Turning left at a light, from a dead stop, i ran into a curb on a divided highway. the front tire went over the curb, but only the front tire. after coming back in contact with the road, the airbags on the drivers side window and seat (2-door coupe) deployed. there is no damage to the side of the car, i did not come into contact with any other objects or vehicles, and i have previously hit curbs without this issue. the manual says the airbags should only deploy in a moderate to severe accident and there is no reason to believe that a curb qualifies as such. my car is now un-drivable. i believe the sensors are malfunctioning in their ability to properly detect a "moderate to severe" accident. the car is 3- years old, with about 30k miles on it. no accidents prior to this. others have commented that injuries resulted from airbags not deploying properly. perhaps these sensors should be looked into? *tr
I was parked in shopping center. i came out of cvs pharmacy and carefully backed my car out. i began a left turn lane (still in shopping center) not into main road and suddenly the car's speed escalated rapidly and i could not stop it - it jumped the curb and in trying to avoid hitting shops car crashed headlong into light pole. it would appear that the gas accelerator was stuck. the airbag came on and i was injured by that. the front end of auto was badly damaged. this is a honda civic 2010 and there was a crash and one person injured (me) which when i print this your form reverts to original form. *tr
Let me make something clear... this is not the indicator in the middle of the dash board that lights when weight is detected under 65 lbs in the passenger seat, which appropriately deactivates the passenger airbag. this is an indicator light in the instrument cluster showing 'side airbag off', that has turned on 3 times in the past three months, only for maybe 5-10 seconds each time. first noticed on christmas day going around 20mph, the light turned on for maybe 5 seconds, then turned off. latest occurrence was last weekend, while sitting at the atm machine. both times i had it in for service, they run diagnostics on it, and there are no codes logged to indicate an error condition, and of course, being that it is so sporadic, they cannot reproduce the condition. this is extremely concerning to me because i have a child that i want to be protected by any and all necessary airbags if in the unfortunate event that i/we are in an accident. so which one of the 'side' airbag is not working when that indicator lights? one? all? the number of airbags this car has, was a deal-making selling point at the time of purchase. i have really lost faith in honda with this and a lot of other service issues. *tr
The interior passenger side is leaking rain water from the roof or side air bag area. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 honda civic. the contact was driving 65 mph when the steering wheel began pulling to the left abnormally. the contact was unable to maneuver the vehicle through the failure and the vehicle was flipped and rolled several times before landing on a grassy field. the driver's side air bag did not deploy. there were no injuries. the vehicle was towed and taken to a local mechanic who advised that the passenger side knuckle assembly was defective. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that they would further assess the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 59,004.
There have been three (3) front end collisions on this vehicle. 2 were deer related. the first accident was a deer hit, at 60 mph., body shop said because the deer hit directly in the center of the front of the car, airbags did not deploy. the second accident in november of 2012, daughter was traveling 69 mph on the interstate and swerved to avoid hitting a deer. she traveled approximately 300 feet down a ditch and back up the other side, striking an embankment, coming to rest 2 feet from oncoming traffic on the opposite side of the interstate. the virginia state police officer said at the time, he couldn't believe the airbag didn't deploy. the front end of the car was totally disengaged from the car. the last accident, june 2013, younger daughter was involved in a 3 car accident. she rear ended the car ahead of her who had rear ended the car ahead of it. wet roads were a factor, however, this was again a front end collision, with a speed of 40+ mph. while we are very thankful that no one was injured in any of these accidents, it's certain the airbag in this vehicle does not work. *tr
The car, a hybrid, sustained left side impact twice, left front impact, and right rear bumper impact. the frame was damaged in two places and repaired. the damage to the car was over $15,000.00, no air bags deployed causing 1 in the car to be injured. *tr
2010 honda civic - roll over accident. car totaled. passengers injured. airbags did not deploy. speed at time of incident was 70 mph (approx). car left freeway and rolled on front driver corner and side-over-side. front passenger corner flattened. passenger suffered neck injury(cracked vertebra). other passengers and driver injured. airbags did not deploy despite severity of crash. *tr
