We have classified the 24 complaints from 2007 Honda Civic about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
Upon replacing rear rotor's and brakes i discovered that the mounting point for the rear trailing arm was rusted out and not replaceable. upon investigation this seems to be a common issue with this model, and currently has a recall with honda canada, but not in the us. the car has been makeing noises while in motion and breaking so i assumed it was rust build up on my caliper mount bracket. sadly its a poor design that honda wont admit that northern states that use salt this is a key point issue. ive been driving my daughter around in this.
Takata recall it was around 3:45 am my brother woke me up said there was a loud crash outside so we went outside to find my neighbor parking and i go over to see and my car which was stationary in the street, it was smashed in from the front, i called the cops to make a report. i believe my neighbor was under the influence of something as i try to talk to her to get her insurance.
Original paint is peeling. never knew or told about the extended warranty for paint until i brought the car in yesterday for a passenger airbag recall on the car which also i have to know about by looking up online since we weren't told about it. dealership confirmed that they cant do anything about the car paint anymore since the extended warranty expired.
My car is dark pearl blue. the paint began peeling on trunk and rooftop of car around april 2017. it began as white chalky splotches and has grown. today most of rooftop is exposed along with trunk and now tops of doors starting to peel. the reps at my dealership stated there isn't a recall for this paint. everything i read states honda used cheaper paint on certain year vehicles. they should be held accountable and provide owners with paint jobs. i don't understand why they only pulled in odyssey vehicles and not all vehicles with this issue.
Clear coat is peeling off car on roof and front above both head lights
I have a water leak on passenger side
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. while driving at 50 mph, the headliner slightly detached from the roof of the vehicle and obstructed the contact's visibility. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 80,000. the vin was unavailable. updated 1/14/16 ln *tr
Fading paint condition. my car is starting to show significant clear coat and paint fading on the c pillar ,trunk lid and right finder.vehicle. currentmileage is under 55k miles
The paint started to peel at only 65,000 miles, back in 2015. the car, at that point, was 8 years old. it peeled in literally just a few months time. it's now patchy on the hood, roof and trunk.
The doors do not stay open like every car usually does when they are opened. this causes a problem when loading and unloading car seats, people, groceries, etc. when the doors are opened, they automatically close back up. i'm concerned because the door, (when it closes by it's self,) hits a lot people in the back that expecting the door to stay open when they enter the car. there is also risk of it slamming a persons finger. i get many complaints from my passengers. *tr
The clear coat and paint job is bubbling and getting ready to crack and expose the car to rust. *tr
The paint on the roof of my car is hazing and the clear coat is peeling. the hood of my car also has white spots. honda garage in moon twp., pa will only pay half of the cost to paint the roof of my car. they said there was a "goodwill recall" that ended in sept 2014, but i never received this. *tr
This civic is galaxy grey. the roof and trunk paint has begun to cloud, fade, crack, and peel. while not a safety issue, it will affect the resale value of the car. *tr
I was told by a friend that she got her civic painted because of a recall. i bought my car at the honda dealer in killeen texas, but i called my local greg may honda in waco tx service department. i told them i never received any notice stating there was a recall, and someone had told me about it. i was having the exact color issues with pealing, cloudy color on my roof, and a few other panels on my car. they told me that there was a recall but its past due now, and i basically will have to pay out of pocket for this. i am having my car roof painted this weekend, and will have to do the rest as i can afford it. what i don't understand is, why should i have to pay for a recall that honda said was happening if you never sent a notification to me.??? i haven't been online here since i paid my car off, i didn't realize it would have recalls etc on here. i will keep watch now that i know. i love my hondas this is my second civic i also had an accord. can you do anything for me? i have photo's of my car with the damage if you need proof. thank you for your time and consideration regarding the above matter. *tr
The paint is chipping and peeling all over the hood and sides of the front of the car. it is very ugly!
The paint of the car is peeling off. from everywhere. this car is being parked in our driveway for last 4 ys. before that it was parked in garage attached to the house. on the top it looks like it has some chemical reaction. on the bumper , hood and other places it looks like the color is peeling and it shows a white spot. this car is used ot drive only from home to work and barely long distance.
Early 2014 we approached honda of columbia, the purchase point of this car, about the factory paint flaking and coming off. honda says we have to have the car repainted and show them the receipt before they will help offer financial help. that costs us $4000+ out of our pocket and then they may subsidize the cost. this car misses the original recall for defective painting by a couple of weeks. her car has been well kept but not garaged. independent paint shops confirm that it is a fault w/ the original painting process. nearly the whole top/flat surfaces of the car are in question: spoiler, roof, trunk, hood, fenders and all other horizontal surfaces are affected. the vertical portions are in acceptable shape. the local dealer honda of columbia, s.c. says this car doesn't fall into the factory recall criteria because it is an '07 and they only qualified up to '06. one of their service department reps assured us they it should be on the recall list and that even the color was one listed along w/ the other car colors. not honda of columbia denies that the car has to be repainted before they will help pay, but now only offer $1000 to subsidize the cost and still wont tell me how to make a claim. they suggested i call honda of america service folks and talk to them they have yet to answer a call. there is no answer of any kind so i am unable to leave a message. what should i do... *tr
Opened our trunk recently and water poured into the trunk from the trunk door when we lifted it. keeps happening every time after a rainy day (which is alot in florida). now our trunk is smelly, moldy and damp. we cannot put our groceries, purse, suitcases, etc into the trunk or else they will get wet. it smells so bad in the cabin area that it is difficult to breathe and you have to drive with the windows down which is difficult with my allergies. the things we kept in the trunk like the jack are now rusted and the bag where i kept my jumper cables is moldy. difficult to use the car now since we cannot put anything into it safely and cannot breathe in the cabin area. *tr
Rear tires tends to wear out faster due to design defect in upper controller arm. drivers will be unaware of wore tread wear towards the body side posing a risk to loose control in some circumstances especially during wet conditions. in addition, value of the car depreciated due to paint fading and honda knowingly denying any defect in the quality of the paint used as cost cutting tactic during 2007 early recession.
Driver's window moves up and down. i put window up, and it comes down by itself. minor issue is clearcoat paint peeling off of bumper. *tr
The paint on the roof of my 2007 honda civic start oxidizing and peeling away 2 years ago. at first it was just a small spot at the back of the roof and now it is manifesting to all over the roof. i received a recall for 2007 civics for paint peeling and i brought my vehicle to my local dealership where i was told that my vin number was not covered. i feel as honda is most assuredly being deceitful with their customerbase and certainly not taking care of them as they should. i felt safe and confident purchasing a honda just knowing they would stand behind their product and knew i would not have issues in the end. silly me.
Premature paint fading on top of car front of moonroof and back of roof and growing. *tr
Paint/clear coat is deteriorating and cracking. honda dealer and american honda state that since the car is beyond the 3 yr warranty, there is nothing they can do (even though it is a defect). *tr
The paint started peeling on the roof of my car, then went on to start on my hood. it has been quickly peeling more and more and looking worse and worse. before i went to spend $600+ on a new paint job, i found out online that there are many others that have complained of the same exact thing happening to their honda civics. if this is a problem with the quality of honda's paint, which is what most sources are saying, they should fix it for free. it's a 2007, this is not normal wear and tear. *tr
Clear coat/paint is coming off on driver's side roof and driver's side window frame. car has been kept up with washes only like suggested and honda won't do anything about it. *tr
The paint on my car is starting to fade on the roof of the car and cracking on the hood of the car. *tr
Clear coat and paint are peeling from top of vehicle in front of, and behind the sunroof. *tr
Im sure im not the 1st person to complain about this issue my car is nighthawk black pearl its a 2dr honda civic ex coupe i've noticed that the top of my roofs paint is starting to fade and is spreading that's not normal. the clear code is going away leaving spots the size of a hand. there should be a recall on this issue. *tr
Paint on the roof and rails is getting oxidized(with multiple patches all over the roof) on my honda civic coupe 2007. i'm first owner of the car and i do not expect the paint to get oxidized with in 5 years. honda needs to fix my car and the paint they use and also honda should make deals responsible for this fix the paint oxidizing with 10 years of the car purchase. *js
Paint. i have nighthawk black pearl, and hood is spiderwebbing. seems to be very common with this color on 06-07-08 civic. please advise. google returns tons of info on this search.. example http://www.hondacarforum.com/honda-technical/38106-has-anyone-else-had-problems-2007-2006-honda-civics-paint.html. *tr
Driver's sun visor split apart at the top seam, with the inner spring sticking out so it won't go back into place without (for now) using both hands to squeeze everything back in and try to reposition, otherwise it just hangs down and blocks view. cannot safely lower the visor to use, so driving looking into the sun etc becomes hazardous. searched online to see if this was a design problem, and after reading posts from a few hundred different owners with the same problem (many have had the visors replaced multiple times), i gave up reading the other posts.. *tt
Paint on the roof started fading and is getting worse as time goes by. honda won't cover the paint on the roof under the warranty. they should fix the problem. *tr
Shortly before the vehicle went out of the manufacturers warranty i began to notice issues with the paint job. the paint began to develop large areas on the roof, hood, fenders, and several other areas of the car that were extremely faded with the clear coat totally wearing through. i brought this to the attention of the dearlership i bought the car from and they told me to call back in about two weeks when a regional rep. would be at the dealership for him to examine. i called back and was asked if i could bring the car down that day, luckily i work only a few miles from the dealership and was able to bring the car down. when i got there my service advisor took the car for the "regional" guy to have a look. about 40 minutes later my service advisor came back to the service lounge to tell me that, according to the "regional" guy, who i never met, said that it was quote, "environmental issues" that caused the issues with the paint job and suggested that keeping the car out of the sun ( in florida !!!! ) would help. in an effort to retain me as a customer, since both myself and my wife have bought hondas from that dealership, they would make an offer to pay for half of the paint job and that they would repaint and my half of the bill would only be $1200.00 !!!!! needless to say i turned their offer down and will simply never ever purchase another honda nor will anyone else in my family !!!!!! *tr
The paint on the hood of the car has been steadily peeling. when we took it to the dealer they admitted that other people had similar problems they don't cover for the damages. it wasn't included in the warranty. the car was only 4 years old when we started noticing the problem. *tr
The primer/paint/top coat began to fail about 18 months ago. the problem seems to be contained to the hood and roof, and it is progressively getting worse. it seems there is a problem with the quality of the finishing products used by honda on this car. *tr
After about a year after purchasing my car, i noticed the paint started to appear rather dusky. a short time later, my paint started to peel! my car was only three years old at time of purchase- so peeling paint is obviously not owners fault. no sooner did my roof begin to peel heavily, the hood and side panels and now trunk are starting to peel excessively. it is so embarrassing, and so gross. *tr
Defective paint on this year civic. apparently according to internet reports, this is a common problem. i joined the class action suit against honda, not sure what else to do. *tr
Paint on 2007 honda civic coupe (black) fading, chipping, oxidizing same as numerous other complaints on this site and several others. the wear on this paint is not "normal wear and tear" for a 6 year old vehicle, nor is it a result of inadequate wax, maintenance, etc. this is a defect which honda should fix. i am very disappointed in the low quality this vehicle is reflecting on honda products. *tr
My 2007 honda civic's paint started webbing and peeling on the hood and roof over a year ago. dealer said not covered under warranty but suggested an auto body shop i could go to. thanks but no thanks. am not spending over 1,000 dollars for an obvious defect in honda's paint/primer. no more honda's for me.my car which i take excellent care of looks horrible. *tr
The trunklid of the 2007 honda civic departs from the open position while parked on a steep grade or with a gust of wind. since most of the weight of the trunklid is aft the velocity of its movement increases as it is closing. the issue is persons attempting to load or retrieve items from the trunk compartment may suffer head injury as the lid is moving to the closed position without warning striking the person. *tr
Paint / clear coat failure on 2007 honda civic in 4 years. paint / clear coat has oxidized and begun chipping away down to bare metal on roof, hood, and around door and trunk edges. *tr
I have a 2007 blue civic si sedan. the paint/clearcoat has begun to oxidize. clear coat is flaking off all over the front fenders, hood, roof of car, a pillars, c pillars, spoiler and trunk. the side of the car have been ok so far. my car just missed the recall notice by a few months but has become worse every day. i wax my car 2-3 times a year and park in a garage at home and work. so the sun has minimal chance of ruining the paint. but the clear coat and paint are still coming off the car all over. it look horrible and now i am in need of a new paint job. honda states there waiting for a new recall to come out and cover this but in tell then i have to take care of it. i am very disappointed with this issue as its a great car but now looks like crap and takes even more work to prevent rust. the paint issues began a year after my factory warranty expired. i did purchase this car new from a honda dealer.
There is "popping/crackling" noise coming from the front suspension, which is occurring in many other civics. seems like a faulty "bump stop" which american honda should be responsible for because its happening in many cars. secondly, the cheap paint which is used on their vehicles, they recently had a tsb on certain colors, its not only 3 colors which have this issue, i have a galaxy grey metallic which has paint issues on the roof like the other colors. american honda needs to get their act straight or this is the last vehicle i own and won't recommend to any of my friends or family. *tr
Driver side sun visor split open. one fine afternoon, i tried to move the sun visor in my car, the plastic split open with crack sound. i thought it just the problem with my car, but when i started looking for a replacement, i found lot of people have the same problem. adding a complain to let you know its a widespread problem with honda civic. *tr
Honda civic 2007 visor pops open and does not grab. visor floats down into field of vision. honda not issuing recall they don't believe it is a safety issue. maybe a lawyer will convince them. *tr
Paint is peeling on car big areas on roof and car is only 5 yrs old, sunvisor broke into pieces and they wouldn't replace it even though it had a recall on it, and engine mount broke also. *tr
When i loaded my stuff into the trunk, the trunk lid didn't stay and fell down and hit my upper arm. the accident caused bruise on my arm. i've noticed this problem before. *tr
Shortly after the vehicle warranty expired, we began to notice a loud humming sound coming from the rear wheels which steadily got worse. also, we experienced extreme lack of control over the car during icy conditions. we discovered that the humming sound was coming from rear tires that were severely cupped. it was necessary to purchase new back tires, get the front and back aligned, and purchase and have installed, a stabilizer bar. we understand that this is a common defect in this model and year of car. *tr
2007 honda civic paint is defected. crowsfeet allover the hood and fenders.honda will not cover 100 percent. *tr
I pulled down the sun visor on the passenger side and a few seconds later my husband pulled down his drivers side)visor in our 2007 honda civic lx and they both cracked and wouldn't go back up. this obstructed our view and made it difficult for him to see the road while driving and posing a safety hazard. *tr
