Tl*the contact owns a 1998 honda civic. while driving 55 mph, the contact heard a thumping noise and lost control of the vehicle. it was discovered that the tread had separated on the driver side rear futura 2000 radial lte tire. the road conditions were dry. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle was examined by the insurance company. the tire manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to send them the tire for an investigation. there were no injuries. the vin, engine size, purchase date, and # of cylinders were unavailable. the current mileage is 104,000 and failure mileage was 30,000.

Problems with michelin tire equipment on 1998 honda civic. *mr during the past nine months, the consumer has experienced 6 flat tires. two flats have occurred while commuting on a dangerous highway. the problem began when the consumer purchased a full set of michelin tires. the common factor of the flats, stemmed from a cracked valve stem, with the crack always located near the base of the stem on the wheel axle side. the valve stems may be too long for the rims. *sc *jb

Within fifteen minutes of having new rear tires put on my car, i experienced a sidewall blowout on the left rear tire while going around a left hand turn at about 40 mph. this caused my vehicle to spin out of control and slam head first into a concrete pillar at the base of a light pole. the vehicle was completely totaled and i suffered minor injuries. had i not been wearing a seat belt i would have been killed. if i had anyone in the front passenger seat they would have probably lost their legs as the floor was pushed up to the same level as the seat. *jb
