Need assistance in a matter that has been settled through a class action suit filed against honda in sept/09, which i just found out about on 4/25/11. i never received a notification, but i was made aware of the class action after attempting to make a call to the company?s complaint hotline to verify if there had been other complaints about premature wearing of the rear brakes as this was my 3rd replacement. my replacement equaled out to around every 25,000 to 30,000 miles. if you know anything about brakes and how they work if driven appropriately typically your front breaks wear first and your rear can last anywhere between 50,000 and 70, 000 miles. since i have owned this vehicle i have replaced the front brakes one time and changed my rear brakes 3 times (currently i have 94,000 highway miles) if you ask any mechanic they will tell you that the life expectancy of the rear brakes should last at least 2 to 3 times longer than the front brakes. i have proof that there were no significant changes in the life of the new brake pads honda created to correct the problem. not knowing of the class action i never submitted a claim for a reimbursement, but i found that honda had already started using the new brakes stated in the claim. the defective brakes lasted 30,000, and new brakes lasted exactly the same. i then i am stuck paying maintenance fees for a defective electronic braking distribution system, for as long as i own the vehicle; new brakes and possible rotor damage every 30,000 miles. i have tried to resolve this with honda and the attorneys who represented the customers, with no resolution. all i am asking is for 100% correction in the defective braking system. *tr

Premature brake wear on 2008 honda accord/mileage at time of repair in september 2010 was 21,138 miles. car was in service since 12/08/09. *tr

I have a 2008 honda accord and just rolled over 41,000 miles. i started to hear the metal on metal coming from my rear wheels. this is my 3rd accord so i know it is brakes related. 41,000 mile would be ok except i also had the brakes replaced at 21,000 miles. i was luck that my dealership covered the 1st set under warranty but now that i am no longer covered under the warranty i am going to have to pay. on both of my previous accords i only replaced the brakes once in over 100,000 miles. something is not right. *tr

Around 4:45 p.m., thursday, march 11, 2010, i took my '08 honda accord to goodson honda i-45 north, houston, texas, because at approximately 30,000 miles loud noises was coming from the rear of the vehicle. it appeared that i was having serious brake problems. after an inquiry of the brake's quality and performance, the service advisor, carl reed confirmed that the rear brake shoes would be replaced with a better quality. he informed me that honda's corporate office had selected a new company that would provide better quality, and longer life spans of their brake shoes and pads. in addition, honda's technician had to replace the front brake pads at approximately 20,000 miles. the qualities of the brake system using low quality brake pads and shoes have proven to be a nuisance for owners. the service advisor, carl reed, drove the vehicle to the rear of customer service and it stayed hidden for about 20 minutes. then one of honda's rouge technicians, jose terdomo, drove the vehicle inside the service area where it was visible from a window. he kept the hood of the vehicle open as he removed the rear brake shoes. around 6:10 repairs were completed, and i checked the vehicle out at 6:19. when i turned the air condition on after departing from goodson honda service department, contaminated air flowing from the vents initiated an immediate respiratory discomfort. while venturing back and forth to work friday, 03/12/2010, the air quality that flowed from the vent was unfit for humans to breathe. as it flowed from the air condition vents, it permeated the air with dangerous nanoparticles, lethal chemicals, and irritant gases compressed with tetrafluoroethane (r-134a). this dangerous mixture quickly attacks the respiratory and central nervous systems with its lethal combination. if you need further information, please feel free to contact me. *tr

I own a 2008 honda accord and in feb. 2009 i had 15,000 miles on the car and the rear brakes replaced by honda at a cost of $86.55 which was about half the price of the repair. in feb. 2010 at 30,000 miles the rear brakes were down to the sensors and they had to be replace again. i have owned a 1999 and have a 2007 honda accord and never replace the rear brakes until they had ar lease 45,000 miles on the car. there is a problem with the rear brakes on the 2008 and 2009 honda accord. canada has a customer satisfaction campaign for the rear brakes. the brakes were replace at no charge in feb.2010 and i should be reimbursed for my $86.55 that i paid in feb. 2009 but honda refuses to pay for the repair. there should be a recall for the rear brakes honda does not want to do this cause it will cost them millions of dollars. i hope we are not looking at another toyota situation. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v346000 (air bags), 16v056000 (air bags), and 09e063000 (equipment). the part to do the repair was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Brakes are defective on the 2008 & 2009 accord. my rear brakes & rotors were replaced at approximately 14,100 miles, approximately 1 year ago prior to a class action lawsuit filed against honda for the defective brakes. according to honda the new material (brakes are to be released mid june 2010. i contacted honda (see case #[xxx]) i advised them that i wanted the new brakes put on the vehicle as the earlier brake shoes appear to be defective. they advised that i would have to pay for that. there is written documentation available that states the brakes are bad and there is a new procedure to put the brake pads on. as that documentation was not available when my brakes were replaced i now still have the defective brake pads that have not been installed according to the new procedure. i would also note that at 17,500 miles my front shoes are almost completely worn also. this is a serious situation which can lead to brake failure resulting in a serious accident. i would asks you to look at ww.carcomplaints.com for further documentation my hyperlink is http://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/accord/2008/brakes/premature_brake_wear.shtml and is complaint #836. i would also refer you to this link which explains the details further http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2050392. in short this is an extremely serious problem that honda has until this point apparently covered up. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I own a 2008 honda accord lx-p. on wed., sept. 16, i hit a piece of construction debris in the road. the metal punctured the front driver-side tire. when i stopped to inspect the tire and replace it with the temporary spare, i followed the procedures for using the standard-issue jack that came with the vehicle to get the damaged tire off the car. the jack, however, bent under the weight of the vehicle; then it slipped out from under the frame, causing damage to the metal below the door. the jack, which does not feature a slot (more of an indented plate) to fit neatly around the reinforced part of the frame, did not hold up the car. because i believe the poorly designed jack contributed to the damage, i contacted american honda customer service and started a case. following the direction of my case manager, david kitchen, i visited the breakaway honda, where the parts technician commented that i did indeed have a "defective jack." he took pictures, gave me an estimate, then communicated this to david kitchen. this was on oct. 21, 2009. since then, i have fallen into a "black hole" with american honda customer service. i have left many messages for david kitchen, with very little response or feedback. i even sent a letter to hiroyuki yamada, coo of customer service, which he never acknowledged. finally, on january 19, 2010, i was informed by mr. kitchen that my request for assistance to repair the vehicle was rejected by american honda because the honda engineers "could not verify the conditions under which i used the jack." i shared that this answer was unsatisfactory -- that i was told by the parts technician that i had a defective jack -- and requested another person within american honda to whom i could appeal. mr. kitchen said the decision was his and there was no opportunity for appeal. mr. kitchen has all photos, estimates and correspondence regarding this case. four months of waiting on a relatively simple matter is inexcusable. *tr

2008 honda accord. consumer states air condition blows out hot air *tgw the consumer was informed by the dealer, a rock must have kicked up from the road and penetrated the condenser for the air conditioner. *jb

Car locking/unlocking alarm on/off remote activator. when care purchased new, remote worked fine up to 30 feet from vehicle. after a year and seven months, the distance was reduced to one foot; then you still have to push remote several times. honda replaced the remotes (warranty), now after only one moth the problem is beginning again. *tr

I purchased a 2008 honda accord lx last year and also purchased an extended warranty due to the amount of miles i drive per day. this year i took my car in to be serviced because the air conditioning was not cooling. the dealership informed me that the condenser was damaged from rocks hitting it and it would not be covered by warranty. the repair cost would be $594 and there was no way to prevent this problem from re-occurring in the future. i informed the service manager that this appeared to be a design flaw in the manufacturing of the vehicle. upon researching this problem on the internet, i found this is a common occurrence among honda & acura models. *tr

Today i almost wreck because i could not see the turn signal on a 2008 or2009 honda accord because of the daytime running lights. the lights are next to the turn signal and are so bright they block the turn signal flash. *tr

2008 honda ex-l accord coupe - during low light conditions (late evening/night) the headlights flicker every 10 -13 seconds. i constantly see other drivers gesturing at me as if i'm flicking my hi-beams at them. honda says that this is normal and says there is no fix . this is the first new car i've owned that has this problem. the battery is a little bigger than a motorcycle battery. this condition i believe is dangerous to on-coming traffic. this could also lead to failures of various other electronic control systems due to the fluctuating power spikes which could lead to devastating consequences while on the highway or freeway. *tr

We bought a new 2008 honda accord, while driving at night with the defroster or the ac on the head lights will dime, at first almost to dark, the dealer has replace the alternator and the fuse box this did help a little, but now its nothing the know to do the resolve this problem. i have call the 800 # for honda and they say this is normal, i do not agree with this answer at all. help with this would be great thanks. *tr

I bought a brand new 2008 honda accord with a 4 cylinder engine. when the air conditioner kicks on and the headlights are on there is a noticeable and quick dimming almost flashing of the headlights and taillights. it is bright enough to seem as though i am flickering my head lights to the person in front of me on the highway and this is a serious safety hazard. i contacted honda both the dealership and a regional representative and was told this is "normal" and "within specs". i am not alone with this problem as i have found many others with the same problem and they were all told the same from honda representatives. i have owned over 50 cars in my lifetime and flickering lights, let alone on a brand new $27000 care should never be considered "normal." thank you for your time and i appreciate any feedback you would be able to provide. sincerely, john kalapodis *tr

Purchased a 2008 honda accord june 29,2008. finally got a chance to drive the vehicle for a period of time with the headlight on last night and noticed that the headlights keep dimming momentarily as the a/c or fan cycles about every 20-30 seconds. two issues that i have is that honda is aware of the issues as every 2008 accord does the same thing. it is rather noticeable and very distracting not only to the driver but no doubt to other drivers that think i may be flashing my lights at them. *tr

I own a new 2008 honda accord 4 cylinder. it has approx. 5,000 miles on it. the air conditioner has been working great. we get in our car to go and the a/c is blowing hot air. i call the honda dealer, we set up an appointment to carry the car in to have it checked out. they find that the condenser has a small hole apparently caused by a rock while driving down the road. this is considered a road hazard and therefore not covered under warranty. what is this condenser made of????? why-how- could this happen? how could a rock put a very small hole in this condenser? i think honda has a problem with this condenser. something is not right here!!! i have some questions about this being a road hazard. how many more times is a rock going to put a hole in this "thin" made condenser??? how many more times can i afford this to happen??? they charge me $98 for a diagnostic fee because this problem is not covered under warranty, otherwise it would have been free. they wanted to charge somewhere about $750 to replace the condenser if we file under our insurance and after the mechanic talked to someone else higher up, they decide if we do not file insurance, they will give me a break and charge me $279. do i file under my insurance and risk the chance of my insurance going up more or do i pay the $279? after deliberation, i chose to pay the $279. (i already have 2 teenagers on my insurance!!) they have to order the part and it won't be in til next week and then i will have to make another appointment to spend the day at the shop while my vehicle is repaired. my brand new car with no a/c and i live in louisiana. it's hot here people. it's july!!! this situation is making me even hotter!!!!!! like hot under the collar!!! *tr

Both remote controls lose range of operation within months of replacing batteries. this has become very frustrating, where i often need to be standing right next to the car to lock/unlock it. i actually reverted to using the remote of my honda remote car starter instead of the key remote itself (of which has its own set of problems). *tr

Each time the air conditioner kicks in, the headlights dim dramatically. it happens every time the air conditioner compressor turns on. *tr

Voltage drop when a/c compressor turns on, resulting in headlights and taillights dimming/flickering. *tr

Exterior and interior lights flicker when the air conditioning compressor comes on. baytown honda service dept, baytown tx, stated this is normal and intended to do that. first they said they weren't aware of the problem, then they produced a service bulletin on the 2008 accord that advised honda is aware of the problem. baytown honda stated nothing could be done because honda said there is no problem with flickering lights. the flickering lights are a distraction to the driver and other drivers. *tr

Bought a new honda accord 2008 in august 2008. this weekend the ac stopped working because a rock has made a tiny hole in the ac condenser. i am not happy with the response that the honda dealer said. he said that the warranty doesn't cover this. is this my fault driving on the road. where else should i drive? i have to pay a huge amount to get it working now. i want honda as a company responsible for this and want to sued it for making such bad designs. i am mentally affected by this incident which is no fault of mine. i don't feel comfortable driving now as some other part may break because i am driving on the us roads. *tr

2008 honda accord lx. all lights flicker when ac unit is running. *tr

I own a new 2008 honda accord ex 4-cyl. when the a/c is on, my headlights, running lights and tail lights flicker dim to bright approximately every 40 seconds while at idle and while driving. this is a major concern and should be corrected. i will contact all insurance companies concerning this. *tr

When driving at night regardless of the speed, with the a/c on the headlights flickers intermittently. i have read other web sites that its been a problem for this particular vehicle and model. many have been to the dealer and have spoken to the manufacture which resulting as this is normal for this type of vehicle/model. this raises big concerns when driving at night, having your headlights flicker intermittently poses a safety hazard. please looking into this matter. the dealerships and car manufacturer's answer to this problem is not acceptable. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. while driving 40 mph, she heard a cracking noise coming from the vehicle. in addition, she smelled propane fumes when she turned on the air condition. the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. as of february 25, 2008, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. the failure mileage was 1,000 and current 6,500. updated 3/19/08 *cn updated 03/19/08 *tr
