This is for my new 2008 v4 honda accord lx: there was serious brake damage incurred from normal wear on the car requiring brake system replacement with only 14,423 miles on the car. *tr
Brakes have pulsating when braking and require heavy pressure to be applied to stop. even though car is only 1.5 years old with 18,000 miles, service dealership states new brakes and machining rotors is needed. *tr
Rear brake pads have prematurely worn out at 22000 miles and again at 46000. dealer admitted to knowing about the design flaw. i was charged $350 by the dealer to do the repairs. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. the vehicle was purchased on june 21, 2008. the contact noticed that the rear brakes were squealing. in may of 2009, he took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the brake pads. he believed that it was too premature for the brake pads to be replaced. the failure mileage was 17,450 and current mileage was 17,700.
Took my new 2008 honda accord coupe ex-l v6 to my local honda dealership service department in early 2009 to investigate why my brakes consistently squeal extremely loudly at only ~15,000 miles, and they told me they didn't know, couldn't reproduce the problem, and even told me my brake pads were in excellent condition. i took the car back to another dealership a few months later for the same problem and they told me immediately that there was some kind of bulletin recently released by honda about this problem on 2008-2009 honda accords. they told me there wasn't yet any "technical service advisory" but were aware of the problem, and that it wasn't a safety issue. since then, i have not heard anything more on the issue and have found hundreds of complaints on the internet about the same problem. this issue is extremely annoying, a major nuisance for a brand new car with less than 20,000 miles and brake pads in excellent condition. i would like to know why honda is not doing anything further to pursue a recall or notify their consumers as to the nature of the problem to prevent people from spending unnecessarily on new brake pads and rotors, which will not fix the problem. thanks you. *tr
I have had my 2008 accord ex-l w/navi in for brake service five times. 27,042 miles. i believe this problem is very wide spread based on the number of complaints on line. it's possible there are many vehicles out there with bad brakes due to owners having no idea there is a problem with their brakes so soon in the life of the car. first incident was in the first week of ownership. dealer had to replace rear rotors (warped). 2000 miles. dealer (cary autopark honda) failed to put bolts in calipers which fell off causing major safety hazard. i had to nurse the vehicle to another dealer for repairs. the service manager from cary auto park, never returned my calls about this problem. vehicle has been in two more times for warped rotors, front and rear. i have gone to five different dealers hoping for some reasonable final solution to this very real problem over the year i have owned this car (cary auto park crown honda southpoint, asheboro honda). on 7/31 i was informed that all rotors needed to be resurfaced and the rear pads needed replacement. dealer was leith capitol blvd in raleigh nc. honda was not going to cover $500 cost but the dealer would cover re-surfacing as goodwill. the rears would have to be paid by me. it was likely i would need to replace the rear pads every 12k miles. i have never needed to replace brakes sooner than 100k! i called and left honda in ca a voice message. as of today, honda has not returned my calls. i have traded the car in at a significant loss in equity. my confidence in the safety of the vehicle and the integrity of honda service makes me unable to continue to drive the car on a daily basis. with all the posts on the nhtsa for brake problems i believe there needs to be a forced recall. it's outrageous. i will never go with another honda product, nor can i recommend anyone i know to take a chance either. *tr
Driving on highway and noticed terrible screeching noise from my rear brakes; took to dealer and they said i need new brakes! the car is 1 year old - a 2008 honda accord - primarily highway driving. i have owned many cars in my lifetime and never had to replace rear brakes at 24k miles. *tr
This incident involved failure of the braking system on my 2008 honda accord with no annunciation or warning that there was any problem with the braking system. fortunately, i was traveling at slow speeds with very little traffic. i had driven about a mile and a half and had multiple stops for traffic lights and/or stop signs with no indication that there was any problem with the braking system. i had just accelerated after leaving a traffic light and was traveling 25 ? 30 mph. i attempted to slow to make a right turn into a gas station parking lot. at the point of braking, i observed absolutely no slowing in response to applying brake pressure. there was little resistance on the brake pedal and i continued to depress the pedal. still with no slowing in response to braking, i used the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. after safely stopping, i attempted to better characterize the braking problem. i was able to repeatedly reproduce the failure, however did confirm that if the brake had been fully depressed and then a very quick pump to the brake, excessive and dramatic pressure was temporarily available. i phoned my husband for assistance and he was able to carefully drive the vehicle, using the emergency brake only to lynwood honda for investigation and servicing. we have been advised by lynwood honda that the abs modulator had failed, however, there were not faults recorded in the vehicle?s computer which is why no dashboard indication occurred. they also indicated that this was the second such case reported on the 2008 accord. i personally attempted to call honda of america customer service and was not satisfied with the explanation and / or action they were able to advice me they were taking as a result of this incident. note that the vehicle has been maintained according to honda's recommended schedule and has been done exclusively by the lynwood honda service department. *tr
Premature rear brake wear on 2008 honda accord lx-p. car taken for 20k mile service today, was informed rear brakes worn to 2mm while front brakes have 8mm. no mechanical defects advised by dealer, claim normal wear-and-tear. they are covering parts and labor under warranty except the brake pads. cost to me is $75 in addition to the normal service changes of $148, total bill $213 plus taxes and fees. *tr
Loud screeching noise coming from passenger side rear brakes. screeching continued to get louder so i brought it into honda expecting the issue to be covered by the warranty. i was informed by the service technician that the rear brake pads needed replacing and the sensor was worn out. he said he has been replacing lots of pads on the new accords and that they seem to be prematurely wearing out. after searching the web i found that hundreds of other people have reported this defect. *tr
My 2008 honda accord has rear brake pad failure after only 24k miles. looking online, this appears to be a consistent problem with owners of the 2008 honda accord. *tr
I purchased a 2008 honda accord a year ago. with less than 30k miles i was faced with replacing the rotors and brake pads, costing a total of $400. i'm the mother of 4, so safety is paramount. my prior car was a 2003 honda civic in retrospect, workmanship was far superior to the accord. when i notified my local honda dealer i was bounced between sales and service. if i were to rate them on customer satisfaction, they would fail. i'm writing in hopes honda will recall this model and uphold their 'former' stellar reputation. signed a disgruntled consumer. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. while driving approximately 60 mph, the brakes locked up. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the service brakes:hydraulic system, including the rotors. the failure and current mileages were 24,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. the contact stated that the rear brakes on his vehicle became worn at 20,000 miles. he felt that this was a safety issue because the front brakes should be wearing out before the rear brakes. the current and failure mileages were 20,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. the contact stated that the rear brakes became worn at 15,795 miles. he felt that this was a safety issue because the front brakes should be wearing out before the rear brakes. the manufacturer stated that the failure was normal. the current and failure mileages were 15,795.
2008 honda 4 cyl. accord ex - premature brake wear. had to replace rear pads/rotors after only 25k miles, which were all highway miles. previously owned a 2000 accord, with exact same driving pattern and only replaced every 70k miles. at this rate, i would be spending an additional $3-4k in brake maintenance to get 250k miles! this needs a recall and/or reimbursement for the life of the vehicle. *tr
2008 honda accord, that is not even a year old. i bought the car july of 08 and i immediately noticed squeaky brakes. i was told that the brakes were just wearing in. it continued to squeak every once in a while when i would brake. a couple days ago i heard this awful screeching noise coming from my rear passenger tire. i called honda service and explained this to them and the lady told me to bring it in it was probably just a little rock stuck up in there, no big deal right! not!!! now they tell me you have to replace the rear brake pads, which would cost just under $200.00 for them to do. instead i just bought the honda brand brake pad from the dealer for $65.00 and had my boyfriend install them. this is just a major inconvenience. there is no way that any rear brake pads should be going out on a brand new car that has only just over 20,000 miles on it. every one that i talk to says wow that way unusual and not right at all! nothing can be done. warranty doesn't cover this issue and there is no recall on the braking system. i am extremely disappointed with this!! it's just not fair. *tr
Premature brake wear and reduced brake efficiency. *tr
Took car in to a honda service center for a "minor" service maintenance. was informed by the service manager rear brakes are worn and won't last till next oil change 3,000 miles. since i use this for my job of visiting patients at home, i felt at risk if i didn't get brakes fixed. car mileage 24,000, owner of third honda accord, never had brakes replaced within a year and at such low mileage, not to mention back brakes. there are hundreds of complaints of early brake wear all over the internet. what is it going to take to recall and fix this problem for good. will someone be injured or hurt before honda is forced to recall for this problem? this is an expensive job and unacceptable to put lives at risk. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. the brakes made a squeaking noise when they were engaged. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and a technician concluded that the entire brake system needed to be replaced. no repairs were made. the failure mileage was 16000 and the current mileage was 19000.
2008 honda accord with 17000 miles. when braking, the car shakes violently, even more dangerous when roads are wet. took car to dealership for repair, they said the brake shoes were great, but the rotors needed to be resurfaced. my issue is that rotors should not need to be resurfaced after only 17000 miles. the 2008 honda accord has some type of problem regarding it's braking system, and you need to find out what it is before people are hurt due to this issue. *tr
My 2008 honda accord lx-p began making a terrible screeching noise when braking and driving. sound was due to premature rear brake wear at 22,600 miles. honda said they are aware of the problem but currently won't cover the problem. they are calling this problem normal wear and tear. *tr
2008 honda accord had excessive rear brake wear at 16,877 miles. rear brakes had to be replaced and rotors turned. honda technician had no explanation for problem or whether honda was working on solution to problem. i was concerned about safety of using this vehicle. *tr
Our honda accord v6 developed a loud "squeaking" noise in the rear brakes @ 16,720 miles. took car to dealer & were informed that the rear brake pad(s) were bad & this was not covered under warranty??!! after being on line, discovering the many complaints on this issue i confronted our dealer w this info. they (said) they called honda district rep & were told to "split" the cost of repair 50/50. better than nothing but it's quite obvious this is a flaw & should be corrected under warranty at no cost. help us! *tr
Vehicle rear brakes suffer for premature wears. every 15,000 miles (or less in some cases) brakes make a annoying noise. when bring the car to service, they said rear brakes are damage and need to be replaced. this have been happened twice in one year. initially, service center personnel said this is due to normal use, but now they have a lot of complaints on this matter, and they are saying manufacturer is evaluating the situation. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. while driving 45 mph, the contact noticed that the rear brakes were faulty at 17,000 miles. the dealer replaced the rear brakes for free, but the contact is concerned about the brakes failing so soon while a child is in the vehicle. the current and failure mileages were 17,000. updated 05/19/09 *bf updated 05/20/09.*jb
I have a 2008 honda accord, my rear brakes go out every 15000 mi. i have found out that almost 200 other owners have had the same issue that i know off. honda says its normal, however their is a problem with the rear brakes, but honda will not address it. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. while driving approximately 5 mph on normal road conditions, the rear passenger side tire began to squeak loudly without warning. the failure occurred whenever the vehicle was driven at any speed. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the brakes were worn down to the metal. the rear brake pads were replaced. the failure mileage was 26,000 and current mileage was 27,000. updated 06/09/09. *lj updated 06/09/09.*jb
My 2008 accord's rear inner brakes wore prematurely and inconsistently with the rear outer brakes. inspections of the outer brakes by the dealer service technician led them to assume that the inner brakes were sound, when they were not. while driving at a high rate of speed the car began making a horrible screeching sound and caused me to weave through traffic to get to the side of the road. the dealers service center informed me that this was a common problems for 2008 honda accord's between 16k and 30k miles and that honda, although being made aware of this issue on multiple occasions, was doing nothing to fix this. we replaced the brake pads, but were informed that the dealer does not normally check the inner brakes when performing routine inspections at oil changes. they allowed to keep the brake pads for our records. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. while driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard a loud squeaking noise in the rear of the vehicle whenever the brake pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the rear brake pads were failing. the brakes were repaired at the cost of $200. the contact called the manufacturer and a report was filed. the failure mileage was 15,000 and current mileage was 16,200. updated 6/18/09 *cn updated 06/22/09 *jb
The brakes on my car started squealing at 16,000 miles. honda said the rear brake pads were worn down completely. in checking the web it appears to be a common problem with the rear brakes. this is a potential safety issue since nobody expects their rear brake pads to be worn down in 15 to 20k miles. *tr
Premature brake wear. *tr
My brakes on 2008 honda accord are worn to the metal. all my driving is highway miles, 130 per day to work and back, all highway, no stop and go. gas mileage was not what it should be prior to brakes wearing down. now that brakepads are worn down gas mileage is better than sticker on car when purchased. seems like the calipers are squeezing the living life out of the brake pads, wearing them out. bad caliper design. and i'm a girl and can figure this out. *tr
Brake noise cause for me to take to the dealer. the dealer advised we needed new rear brakes. this car has 31,000 miles. *tr
I took my car into the dealership regarding a strange noise to find out that my rear brakes and rotors had to be replaced. this totally took me by surprise since my car only has 19,897 miles and only has had the car for 16 months. when i stated to the service tech that "seems very early to be replacing rear brakes" he stated that on this model that is what they are seeing since this model car is heavier. i think this is a ridiculous statement and honda needs to really make some changes. i also stated i had a 2005 accord and never had as much problems than i have had with this vehicle. i will not be keeping this vehicle and dropping more and more money into a vehicle that for years has been stated to be a reliable car. *tr
The brakes on my car wore out around 18,000 miles and needed replacing. my car now has about 50,000 miles and the brakes need replacing again. my previous car did not need a brake change until 110,000 miles.
Premature rear brake failure at only 25,000 miles. sticking rear calipers causing excessive wear on brakes and decreased fuel mileage. engine cooling fan causes headlights to dim at night every 30-40 seconds causing a major safety and visibility concern. dealer refused to fix either problem under warranty. *tr
Was planning a long drive two days b/4 i heard a squealing. had it checked by dealer who told me the rear brakes were worn out. what? after only 16,000 miles? there's only two times new rear brakes should wear out in that amount of time: never and never ever! three thousand of those miles were highway on a previous trip to florida and back. dealer could not explain it. said the car was engineered new for 2008. bologna! the new car pads are too small for the car! new car rear brakes should last longer than the front brakes and both should last longer than 30k to 40k miles! if this is what one can expect from honda, maybe one should consider other makers of cars! *tr
My 2008 honda accord needs rear brakes replaced. i was told at 18000 miles that i will need brakes next oil change. now at 25000 miles noise is unbelievable. never before on any new car that owned did i need rear brakes replaced at such low mileage of mostly highway miles. reading through all the complaints about brakes i am shocked that there is no recall at this time. i hope that nhtsa is working for the people and not auto companies. *tr
Rear brakes squealing on honda accord 2008 after tire rotation. *tr
Premature back brake wear on new honda accord. had to replace brakes and rotors at 19,000 miles. *tr
2008 honda accord premature rear brake wear-out at 17,000 miles. called honda of america and was told brake noise was a normal feature. told rep that if she wished me to remain civil she needed to stop the garbage. she opened a case number and told me to take to dealer. took to dealer who replaced rear pads and resurfaced rotors as "goodwill repair" - good for them! but this ridiculously fast - and widespread (do a google search on 2008 accord brake problems) - brake wear is a safety hazard that honda should address through a recall. *tr
After 15,000 miles of majority highway miles the oem rear brakes on my 2008 honda accord ex-l 4 door v6 were completely worn out. the brakes were worn only on the inside pad. the outside pad looked almost brand new. honda informed me that this is normal wear and tear, but i have never seen rear brakes fail after 150000 miles on any vehicle before. the original cost for repair would have been $190, but the service manager admitted there is a problem with the pad and let me walk for only $70. the parts were replaced, but i know that they are going to go out just as quick. they told me that there is a flaw in the design and that honda is addressing the problem, but also said it is normal wear and tear. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. the contact was driving approximately 50 mph when the brakes were abruptly applied and the vehicle exhibited an abnormal grinding noise. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised her that the front and rear brake pads needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. approximately 15,000 miles later, the failure recurred when decelerating. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they advised the contact that rear brake pads needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired a second time but again, the failure recurred while the contact was driving approximately 40 mph. the vehicle would shutter and the grinding noise had become increasingly louder. in addition, while attempting to start the vehicle the contact noticed a loud noise for approximately two seconds. the contact checked the oil dipstick and discovered that there was no oil in the engine. the dealer advised having an oil consumption test performed and driving the vehicle for an additional 1,000 miles before confirming the failure. the contact was concerned about the oil consumption and the engine failing. the manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 18,000 and the current mileages were approximately 43,000.
Interior rear brake pads wearing out extremely prematurely. front brake pads and rear outside pads are all fine. likely problem is in the rear brake caliper piston. honda states that the brake pads are a wear and tear item and not covered. however, uneven brake pad wear is indicative of a mechanical issue and, in the case of brakes, a major safety concern. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. while taking the vehicle in for service, the contact noticed that the brakes were wearing down too quickly. the dealer stated that the parts on the vehicle were faulty. the contact feels this is a safety issue because the brake failure could lead to a crash. the current and failure mileages were 20,000.
Rear brakes that need to replaced at 17,430 miles. 13 month old honda 2008 accord. *tr
Rear brake pads needed replacement after 13,000 miles on 2008 honda accord lx p. no change in driving habits. previous owner of honda accord( 2005) and did not have pads replaced during ownership/lease. replaced parts at my own expense and was told by dealership and honda customer service is not a defect and not a safety issue. old part is available. *tr
Rear brakes that need to replaced at 14,000 miles. 9 month old honda 2008 accord. this is the 4 door v6 version. i have lodged a complaint with honda america. i have never had to replace rear brake at less than 50,000 miles and rear disc brakes should never have to be replaced before the front brakes. *tr
2008 honda accord- purchased in dec 2007. vehicle has 26,647 mi. experiencing premature brake wear on passenger side rear. notified national honda customer service. they gave me case number-n012009-03-2501439- are aware of the many complaints and "potential" brake issue but are not doing anything about it at this time. warranty applies- which means there is no warranty for this repair. will keep my complaint on file. absolutely no reason for brakes to be worn with this low mileage which is mostly highway miles. *tr
