We have classified the 89 complaints from 2008 Honda Accord about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
I started my car up in the morning and warmed it up for about 15 minutes then as i go to put it in reverse the battery light came on i then put my car in park and turned it off then i turned it back on and the battery light was still on i decided to just go because i have to be at work in an hour as i am driving down i five the radio stopped working like the side of the vehicle started flickering and my headlights turned off and i was now driving down i-5 in the dark. fortunately i made it to my location parked my car and it completely died. i didn't open my hood and started checking my battery and my alternator etc. i confirmed my battery was fine and that my alternator had failed. i then notice fluid was leaking from the power steering pump to the alternator. now my car is has no power and even if i get it jumpstarted it just dies.

Door lock, rear passenger side, automatically unlocks when i lock the doors. this has happened before on the driver side, rear door and was replaced due to recall.
Have tried to get all 4 windows to roll down none of them will have had it tested and they cannot find out what the problem is to me this is a safety problem just in case the car doors won't open then you need to roll down the windows and you can't

Takata recall and srs safety went to the autoairbagsettlement.com website and unable to find any links to file a claim online, this has been repaired but still want t be a part of it. the other recall still has no remedy at this time and judging from the text on nhtsa recall #16v-056 it sounds serious. please help me to remedy this situation. thanks,
Takata recall sometimes my sideairbag signal blinks and when i press the brake paddle hardly it sounds like rough and also sometimes when i touch the door i feel little bit electric shock.
Car caught fire doors locked would not let me out.car shut off no brakes. *tr
Car sporadically dying (electrically and all) while in drive or in motion of forward driving (while going 30 + mph) and then just as sporadically turning itself back on. makes chain dragging sound similar to worn brake pads but the sound will change pitches while driving between 0-43mph. after 43 mph it no longer makes odd sounds but as soon as deceleration begins it is at risk to either temporarily "die' or slightly jerk and almost "die". this has happened while driving up to 20 times within 3 miles and the first time it "died" was while pulling into a parking spot and fully stopping. it has not done it for the last couple days and local mechanic could not diagnose it as the battery was in great condition and everything appeared to be plugged where it should be.
Takata recall, we bought this car for over 16,000 at gormleys automotive. after getting it home there were certain repairs that we needed asap. the car was definitely in a previous accident as we could see when the paint chipped that there was the original honda white underneath. the car has 3 recalls. lights come on that do not make sense and even though we didn't receive a manual, i looked things up on the internet. the engine belt rumbles, the suspension is way off, the leather seats and sidearms have ripped because they were replaced by cheap parts. the car loan is for 331.00 monthly and still is owed a siginificant amount on. steward financial harasses with phone calls if you are an hr late on a payment. unacceptable. i am disabled and can barely make ends meet. i do not want to pay for a car that runs like a hoopdee when its supposed to run like a honda. turning it does not grab the road, stationary the engine rumbles. i am a female so i do not know to much about cars. what i do know is that i cannot afford to have repairs done on a car with such a large amount owed on it.
Vsa brake and abs light come on and off intermittently. braking test with lights on show abs does not work. numerous complaints on web sites about moisture entering the control module. no response from honda other than replace the $1200.00 module.

Ignition switch problem car would sometimes start sometimes would not even do anything no power no clicking just dead new battery everything checked out okay when i brought it to the mechanic left me stranded last week and had it towed this time it failed to start with all attempts, replacing ignition switch, car was off when this happened each time

Car just stalled in rush hour traffic - very scary. got pushed to shoulder. car started and then stalled. had to get towed. computer diagnostics show nothing. mechanic has been driving it and there are no problems. reading about how honda has ignition switches that go bad.
Tl* the contact owned a 2008 honda accord. while the vehicle was parked, it caught fire. the contact also stated that there was an abnormal odor in the vehicle. the contact was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. a police report was not filed. the fire department was not notified. the vehicle was deemed destroyed. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 11v395000 (power train) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 112,965. the vin was not provided.
Takata recall, excessive oil consumption, vtc actuator loud grinding on start up cold or warm!!!!! honda would not fix because i was 15,000 miles over their grace period. i asked for good will and a big company that honda is sure won't go bankrupt fixing my car.... but the girl i talked to was some what rude to me and just asked if i wanted the better business beau phone number. their needs to be a class action law suit for the replacement of the vtc actuator, because sooner or later i will have engine failure and honda knows about the problem. i have read 90% of the 2008 4 cylinder accords have the problem and some of the newer models have the same problem. and i have heard they will replace the part, and soon after it does it again!!!! defective part!!!! i hope i can get some help, because honda knows about the problem and i cant afford a new engine when the timing chain goes and everything with it!!!! thank you.

Lights dim (and entire dash momentarily losses power) frequently. *tr
The remote key fob fails to lock the vehicle after stopping, turning off engine and exiting. also, the doors remain locked after the vehicle is stopped and engine is turned off. *tr
For the 2nd time since 2008, i've had to replace the sparkplugs due to pcm issues. the engine light will come on and gives an error code of p0303. unfortunately you can only go to honda to have the computer updated, and they will try to sell additional services. today they refused to update my computer stating the only way to fix was to replace all the sparkplugs despite the service bulletin stating otherwise. despite this being a manufacturer issue honda has forced car owners to pay for this repair with no true fix existing. *tr
Engine makes noise when starting up that goes away after around 5 seconds. was told atc actuator was bad. *tr
Back in august i took my car to southeastern honda dealer like i routinely do to have my oil changed. it was suggested by service rep to change my transmission fluid, which i did. on my way home from work one night my engine light started flashing and my car was driving like it is going to shut off. i took my car to the dealer and they hooked it up to a machine and said it was 2 of my spark plugs, it's a common problem with the accords v6 so it's best to change all of plugs which i agreed too and this will solve the problem. on 2/7/13 i took my car to southeastern honda for my routine oil change and again the service rep suggested my power steering fluid and brake fluid needed to be changed which i agreed too. on my way home the vsa, brake light and abs light came on in the car. as so as i was able to i took it back to southeastern honda, the same service rep said they hook it up and it was the spark plugs which was change back in august and it should not be occurring because all the plugs were changed and it's a defect in the engine. he will speak with the good will honda person because the car needs an engine. he called back a couple of days later and say it's the engine and i will be required to pay half for the engine. i left my car at the dealer for a week, paid a few dollars short of $3000.00 dollars and my engine vsa, brake and abs lights is still coming on. i googled this problem and alot of the hondas have this problem. i will like to know what is the status of this problem. *tr
I was having problems with shuddering in my car. on january 21, 2013, i logged a complaint number with honda usa. their recommendation was for me to have my car looked at by a certified honda technician. i made an appointment for january 25th and took the car in. the certified dealer in countryside called to tell me he was able to replicate the issue. the service technician did an upload of more recent software and the issue seemed to be fixed. i was skeptical. when i arrived to pick up my vehicle, i was shown a service bulletin that honda service was receiving notifying them of the issue. i asked why honda was not actively recalling the cars to correct the problem. they said they did not know why. *tr
On thanksgiving night 2012, i went shopping and got back to my parents house around 11:00pm. i had gifts and food in the car and the power door locks locked on me automatically with me in it. i finally was able to open the passage door and got out. the car door locked again and i was not able to get into the car either by using the keyless entry nor by manually trying to unlock it with the key in the door lock. i had to let the food stay in the car over night as well as the other things i had purchased. i am so glad i did not have my niece with me. the next day, i had to spend $60.00 to get a locksmith to open the door. about 6 months later the automatic door locks that locks when you put the car in drive, keeps locking every time a make a stop and pull off again. this is driving me crazy too. this is truly a safety issue. i can only imagine if i had a child in the car, what would have happen. the local news featured a news story with a woman who is having the same problem with her honda crv about 3 months ago. this is a real problem that the honda manufacture needs to address either thru recall or extended warranty. enough is enough. *tr
The car did not want to move after it was put in gear. when the car did move it was very hesitant and would not pick up speed at first, then would gradually pick up speed. the car is back at the dealership and first they said it was transmission sensor, then said it was the computer, after replacing that the car begin a rough idle. *tr
The warning light on the dashboard panel is warning that the passenger airbag as deployed. at the same time the "fasten seatbelt" warning stopped working and the seal around the passenger window is loose. coincidentally, a relative also has a 2008 honda accord and the exact same things are happening. according to many internet entries, the same thing is happening to many 2008 honda accords. i cannot find information on a recall. it is a safety hazard, because some owners have reported the airbag deploying while driving. *tr
Sometimes my car makes a grinding noise when i turn the key to start it. i took my car twice to the metro honda dealer in montclair, ca; but even though i have the extended guarantee, they refuse to check my car. i do not know what to do. i did some research on the internet, and i found out that a lot of people are having the same problem; and some of them had replaced the vtc actuator, and the problem was fixed. i mentioned this to the maintenance experts at metro honda, but they still do not care. my concern is that this is a situation that is not on a recall list. what should i do? *tr
Car cut off while in store for five minutes was told that if you leave keys in ignition while off it drains the battery. no car in my life that ever happened after leaving the radio in the car on and drained the battery. *tr had a problem within 3 months of buying a 2008 honda. car cut off and wouldn't start. and it did it again last night took it in before and the first time i took it in battery was fine and they check the battery today and they said it was no good but it happened a total of 4 times and there was a recall on the car and it happened to other people and which shouldn't happened cut off last night and no key in the ignition and battery died. spoke to [xxx] store manager and spoke to service manager and refuse to change the battery. all they did was charge up battery. cause they wanted me to purchase a battery for 159.00 which there is a problem. because there was a problem few months after i bought the car. and brought in for same thing now less than a year. honda told me that if you leave key in car that the car still is drawing power even though key is off. i kid you not my mom was in the car for five mins and battery died. honda of roanoke rapids don't care about customer service and doing what is right to satisfy the customer. battery was going bad before. i will never buy a car again from them. and i have the power train warranty and american honda forced me to get it and wont cover squat. i was forced to take it by american honda or else they would approve my loan. this was honda of roanoke rapids. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I had just bought a used 2008 accord, while driving at 45-50 mph at night,i noticed the headlights would blink. after several times,i got curious and started timing the occurrence. the lights would blink every 35 -45 sec. the heat was on since it is cold in nh in jan. i when to the honda dealership and they asked if the heat was on,and to try shutting the heater off to see if it stopped, which it did. my concern is traffic at intersecting roads could assume that i am flashing the lights to let them proceed. not to mention that it is aggravating and this is the first vehicle that i have owned in over 40 years of driving that has this problem. i see that other people have the same issue but honda says that is the way it is. this is not acceptable in this vehicle or any other vehicle in the 21st century. *tr
Headlights flicker out completely or dim severely when coming to a stop or the condenser for the ac/defrost kicks on. i have researched this and it appears to be an issue due to the electric load detector. although honda had said this might be normal i find that while driving my 4 yr. old son around it is a safety concern and would like to have the problem looked into. *tr
At night the headlights dim repeatedly while the car is at a stop. while driving the headlights flicker or blink every 15-25 seconds while the air conditioning is operating. this could appear as if i am flashing other drivers and can be construed as an aggressive act. i would not have bought this car had i known about this design flaw. however honda released a statement on their website that this flicker of the headlights is normal and was designed that way to increase fuel efficiency. *tr
This started around april 1st of 2011. everytime i start the car in the morning, i get a grinding noise that last less then two seconds. i think the starter is going out. this should not happen when the car is only 4yrs old. there should be a emergency recall on the starters. the car was doing find when this problem started happening. *kb
2008 honda accord. consumer states when driving with lights on, when defroster or air kicks on the lights dim *tgw the consumer also stated there was a problem with the window. *jb
Lights dim all the time driving down the road. honda says no fix. *tr
I have had 5 door actuators changed on my car - all doors and one door was twice. i have a 6th one out but i have not gotten it fixed. the dealership told me that "sometimes things happen". i tried to talk with honda, they did pay for most of them repairs but refused to admit it was a problem. the dealership never could tell me why it was happening, just kept replacing the actuators. i got tired of fighting with them, that is why the last one has not been replaced. this is my first and last honda. i was extremely disappointed with my service from honda. we bought the car brand new off the lot and it started within a year and a half of purchase. *tr
I have a honda accord lx 2008 sedan which i bought 2 years ago. ever since i bought this each year without fail i have experienced intermittent lack of power during acceleration which has happened while driving on the highway, each time it has lasted any where from 20 to 45mins ,there no engine check light on or any indication light of a malfunction. i reported to the dealership left the car with them over night i was told that they ran the automated computer test and nothing was found to be wrong with the car , the second time it occurred i called honda usa and reported the same incident , i was contacted by honda told to take to a dealership , i left the car over a week and was told the automated test showed nothing and they could not duplicate the problem . this same thing occurred again this year and i contacted honda dealership , i produced a bulletin from honda web site describing exactly the problem my car has been experiencing , i contacted honda took it the dealership i was told that my car vin # range wasn't covered in those affected since my car had a more recent soft ware up date. and that they will have to duplicate the problem, as per honda request i left the car and i was told there was nothing they could do, even though the problem had persisted and has being recurring i was told to bring it in when it occurs again but its had happened three times already i have a. my frustration stems from the fact that honda usa claims that my car has an up dated soft ware and even the over ride could not be possible , but the problem detailed in the honda bulletin memo describes what's happening to my car. the bulletin states thus : some 2008 accord l4 vehicles may experience an intermittent lack of power due to interference or noise on the knock sensor signal circuit .interference or noise on the circuit can cause the pcm to retard the ignition timing , causing a decrease in engine power usually during acceleration. *tr
I purchased a 2008 honda accord and the lights continuously flicker whenever i use the ac or heating. the flickering is so prevalent that i'm afraid that others drivers may think i'm flashing my lights at them. this is a physical safety issue as i'm afraid of road rage as well as the fear that the car will ultimately stop functioning due to the amount of power that appears to be being used when the flickering happens. *tr
2008 honda accord ex/4-door sedan/4-cylinder: bought new car 03/09; at considerably less than 10,000 miles rear brakes wore out prematurely, thereafter front brakes also wore out. had to pay for replacements due to american honda motor corp refusing to cover under warranty. they refuse any assistance or resolution. *tr
2008 honda accord ex-l, 4 cyl engine. headlights constantly blink (dim) when ac or automatic temp control is activated. lights dim for about 4 seconds and then return to normal regardless of speed. other drivers think that i am signaling them and sometimes become very irate and threatening. honda and dealer indicate the problem is normal. search on internet indicates a large number of similar complaints on 2008 accord. *tr
I have a 2008 honda accord ex-l i picked up new in the fall of 2007. to date i have just over 30,000 miles. today, (4/12/10) i took my car to my local honda dealership for an oil change. i was told that my rear brakes were at 5% and repair cost would be $330.00!!! i mentioned i paid an additional $2,200.00 for an "extended warranty "on top of the $28,000.00 sticker price back in 2007. today i asked the honda advisor what does my $2,200.00 "extended warranty" cover? he said nothing mechanical. by this point i did not want to argue, but rather i paid the $38.13 for my oil change and left. also with my previous oil change maybe 3 months ago with about 29,000 miles i was also told my rear brakes were somewhere around 15% and i think the honda dealership quoted me around $300.00. i am definitely a named party in the gibbs lawsuit as of 12/17/09. i have not paid to fix my rear brakes yet. other problems i am having is my navigation freezes up, i have this rattling sound in my front drivers door, my front passenger door sounds like it is not closed all the way because i hear road noise, and twice now my wipers have continued to stay on even though i turned them off or the wipers will be "delayed" even though the wipers are off, my glove box is misaligned on the right hand side and at times when i am pulling into the garage with my foot off of the gas pedal, the car will accelerate forward a little. i am finished with this car!!!! my 2008 accord is my 3rd accord and by far the most obnoxious lemon i have ever owned. my 1986 and 2000 accords were more "honda" than my 2008 accord. i am thoroughly disgusted with honda's caring integrity. *tr
Purchased my accord new off the lot.1st problem came exactly 1 month later 2 sensors had to be replaced. oil light consistently stayed on i was having to change or add oil all the time. ive been to every honda dealer in san diego. mission valley finally agreed to a oil consumption test but they assured me nothing was wrong. their solution was anytime i needed oil i could stop by any honda dealership & they would be happy to top it off for me. because of this oil problem & the sensor consistently staying on the car began to lose power & shot out the timing belt. my car has been in my driveway since last july2015. after sending honda numerous letters ron from honda motor co finally contacted me. final result his recommendation was to take the car back to the dealership for another oil consumption test to be done & if theres any other problems i would have to pay out of pocket. because the car was only covered for 60,000 miles. i'm so over this car & honda. i no longer feel safe driving a honda!
I bought my honda accord ex just last year, and i started having problems with my rear brakes. it began with a metal scraping noise from the rear wheel well. there is an abnormal number of complaints online regarding 2008 honda accord's premature brake wear. it would be the best thingo for an investigator to look at http://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/accord/2008/brakes/premature_brake_wear.shtml to see just how complaints of exact same issue have been reported online. this issue must be resolved, and honda should be held responsible for repairing them or reimbursing owners for any repairs done, as any problems with brakes are serious safety concerns. please investigate. thank you. *tr
Premature rear brake failure at only 25,000 miles. sticking rear calipers causing excessive wear on brakes and decreased fuel mileage. engine cooling fan causes headlights to dim at night every 30-40 seconds causing a major safety and visibility concern. dealer refused to fix either problem under warranty. *tr
Headlights frequently dim and then re-brighten, causing a noticeable flickering when driving at night. this is very distracting at night, even well lit roads. honda has checked and says electrical system is operating normally and it may be, but some interface with the lights and the elp is incompatible if it causes such a noticeable flicker. we drove a honda odyssey with same system for 100,000 miles and never noticed a headlight flicker. *tr
1. excessive oil consumption. 2. rear breaks require pads changed after every 15k -17k ml of driving 3. battery failed after 1 1/2 of service, about 20k mi.
