Takata recall i have had an air bag light on for years and they have never been deployed. every time i check for a recall and mine has never had one, then why has my airbag light stay on?

The car have a recall for front airbags the light on the dashboard was on but when i went to fix the problems the car still have the same light on and more malfunctions with the seat belt sensor. honda didn't fix it a want me to pay almost $300 for repair something that honda is suppose to take care if the car has a recall.

Car was parked in a large parking lot..(exp. mall parking area) started to pull through the parking spot to exit. noticed pedestrians to my right, sharply turned steering wheel to the left, causing the car's left front bumper to hit the base of a light pole. mph less than 5. distance of travel 2 feet. airbag deployed, breaking both the ulna and radial bones in my right forearm, bruising of my chin. surgical intervention required to fix fractures. placement of 3 plates with screws. car has a small indention on the left bumper. this air bag should not have deployed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated while driving approximately 3 mph. the air bag deployed on low impact when she hit a lamp base pole on the driver's side bumper. the contact injured her right forearm which required surgery. the vehicle was not taken to an dealer or an independent mechanic to be repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 116,000...updated 04-10-14 *bf updated 06/30/2017*js

The srs light stays illuminated while the vehicle is on. dealership tested the system and found 2 codes. first code read the driver side seat buckle switch fault. second code read the driver side seat position sensor fault. both codes are causing the srs light to stay on. the driver side seat buckle switch is covered under warranty (at 143,000 miles). the driver side seat position sensor is not covered under warranty. there was a recall issued for the seat postion sensor but my vin does not fall within the listed vins called out on the document. why is it that a car with two different defective parts, that are causing the same issue, not both be covered by warranty on my car but is covered for other cars that are the same model and year? now i have a new driver side seat buckle switch with a srs light that is still on. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated that the air bag warning lamp was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v001000 (air bags). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 73,000.

After returning my 2005 honda accord at the request of sp honda, tulsa,ok., american honda rep e.p. contradicted what mechanic previously had said. they refused to repair passenger side airbags deployed while driving down highway at 65 mph. the continual lies need to stop. honda needs to be responsible for their recalls & faulty equipment. to make matters worse, the gm stated " why should we help repair your car when you didn't purchase it from us?" who does business like this? american honda is being investigated and sp of tulsa should be as well! *tr

Accelerator jammed in cement garage causing car to hit the wall of the garage at very high speed and severely damaging the front of the car (essentially totaling the car). *tr

My car dashboard showing up the airbag sign on and off. i make investigation thru motor trend that this car has a problem about seat belt/buckle front driver seat. i call up american honda at torrance ca. they told me my vehicle vin # is not affected by this problem. this is surprise for me. the car is made by honda. all of this kind of model should be affected by this airbag problem. as per motor trend the recall date was jan. 03, 2007. and most affected is 2005 honda accord. please help me this is not safety anymore. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda odyssey. the contact stated that after starting the vehicle the air bag sensor light illuminated. the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 05v344000(air bags). the failure mileage was 68,000.

I viewed nhtsa id number: 10653526 involving the red airbag indicator light that comes on and won't go off. mine has been doing this intermittently for at least a year that i can recall. it is now on almost all the time. when calling a local dealer about it, they said that they would have to charge me to look at the problem and would be responsible for any work that would need to be done to fix it. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated that while driving approximately 52 mph, the front and rear air bags inadvertently deployed with no impact to the vehicle. in addition, the passenger's side air bag deployed. the interior roof covering also became detached at the time of the failure. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis but was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 226,000.

Airbag light would come on after car warms up intermittantly, and stays on permanently on colder days it takes longer to turn on but eventually it will. *tr

I took my honda in for a power steering recall that was issued and asked the honda dealership to look into the reason why the airbag warning light was on. they called me back and said there were two fault codes one being the driver seatbelt buckle and the other being the drivers seat position sensor. i know there is already a recall on the driver seat position sensor but they said that my vehicle's vin was not affected by the recall. therefore, in order to fix this sensor i would have to pay to repair the part. i called honda america and they also told me it was my responsibility to repair the part since my vehicle did not have a vin affected by the driver seat position sensor recall. i find this odd that my vehicle is of a make model and year with a known defective part but yet it is not involved in the recall. i feel that this should be investigated further to see if there are more models that are affected by the drivers seat position sensor for the air bag. *tt

Have information that the air bag and side air bag may not be working properly on the passenger side and the shoulder strap on the same side doesn't release as it should. thanks

Air bag faulty light comes on and off randomly. although there is a massive 2005 accord airbag module recall based on the nhtsa investigation 07v001000. the 2005 accord hybrid is not on the recall list. there seems to have quite a few 2005 hybrid owners had already file the similar complaint. (under the problem with the seat section) airbag malfunction is a very serious problem, however, the problem behavior is random and majority of the customer may sees it as "glitch" since it may go away by turning the key on and off again. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated the vehicle abnormally accelerated and crashed into the contact's home. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact sustained injuries to the neck, back, arm and leg. a police report was filed. the vehicle was destroyed and towed to an auto body shop. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 134,000. *tt

Honda accord 2005 seems like has faulty mechanical on the brake. i was driving down the downward the hill and my brake did not stop. i was suspicious now that my car has faulty mechanical brake because about less than 2 years ago where my car has problem did not brake properly on the freeway. then, i replaced my brake less than 2 years ago at honda dealer. the last time my car maintenance was april 2013 and they stated the brakes are still good. *tr

Our honda accord was crossing a 4-lane street from a stop sign. a car coming from the right struck the passenger side of our honda, causing the side air bags to deploy. however, the side air bags did not inflate, causing the passenger to receive bruises and abrasions. note: although this honda accord was a 2005, it had low mileage (30,000) and was in excellent shape. the insurance co. totaled the car. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord hybrid. the contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated the vehicle was not included under nhtsa campaign number: 07v001000 (air bags). the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 126,000. *tr

Air bag red icon kept coming on on dash and have been trying to get this fixed for over a year. don't understand why honda does not consider long island, ny, a humid territory. honda needs to visit long island to see how humid it is. this car must be used for a road test next week and i must now pay out of pocket to get the icon off permanently and the problem fixed, as well as have the air bags replaced to ensure they are good. i would like to get reimbursed. thank you. *js

I was driving home from work on a monday night, i had my phone in the front seat with me and i had heard it go off a few moments earlier. i looked over quickly at the phone to see who it was,i quickly looked back at the road, i was not able to stop quick enough and i hit the young lady in from of me. i was going about 40 mph when i hit her and there is substantial damage to my car. what really puzzled me was that my airbag did not deploy, even with an impact as big as this one. i have sustained a few injuries because of the lack of air bag. *tr

I've noticed a faultiness with the airbag light indicator/sensor. after the engine is started, the light stays on and continues to stay on until i restart the engine, at which time the light may or may not turn off. this happens whether there is a passenger present in the passenger's seat or not. the light faultiness happens at random. though many models of honda accords have been covered under a recall for the same issue, honda is telling me my specific vehicle is not covered. this is a dangerous issue that can affect the airbag deployment, causing full-force deployment regardless of seat position. *tr

Airbags failed to deploy upon impact of collision. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact was stopped in traffic when another vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. the contact's vehicle was abruptly pushed forward, causing him to crash into the rear of a preceding vehicle. none of the air bags deployed. there were no injuries. the vehicle was destroyed. a police report was filed of the incident (#13-002818). the vehicle was towed to a dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the incident but offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 112,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated that the air bag warning light continuously illuminated when driving. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 82,000. updated 02/18/15*lj updated 4/4/2016 *js updated 9/18/2017*cn

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated that while driving various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the opds sensor would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified but they offered no assistance to the contact. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 82,000.

I was driving like any other day on the freeway and my passenger airbag deployed for no apparent reason- there was no accident at all. luckily there was no one in the passenger seat. after contacting honda they said they would send a representative to the local dealership to check to take care of the repair but the honda dealership in el cerrito ca did not want to pay for the repair and wanted to charge full amount to fix it saying the car is out of warranty. i needed my car soon for my transportation so i went to my trusted mechanic to repair the airbag and he informed me it was not safe to drive becuase the driver's airbag could deploy at anytime which could result in a crash or injury or fatality. i would appreciate a full refund from honda for cost of the repair as it came out to be $3,374.68. this cost is very high and i am not responsible for this safety malfunction. this is a major safety issue and i am very upset that honda does not want to fix what could have possibly caused a person harm. thank you *tr updated 09/05/12*lj updated 09/10/2012 *js

Was driving along on highway when boom!!! the passenger side airbags just deployed on their own. it caused me to swerve and almost crash at 80 mph. my passenger luckily sustained minor injuries. there was no reason or warning for these airbags to deploy! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord lx. the contact stated while at a stop light, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. as a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle causing the air bags to deploy. the contact sustained a back injury that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the manufacturer has not been made aware of the failure. the contact stated the vin was not included in recall nhtsa campaign number: 11v395000 (power train). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 44,000.

On the dash board, a red light of airbag with a passenger sign comes up and stays on while driving. sometimes, it may come right after the engine start and stay. sometimes, the light would not come. when the problem started in 2012,the red light appearance was infrequent. now, it is almost constant. only occasionally, it may disappear. *tr

Air bag warning light, was recalled previously for the 2005 honda accord, but not for the id number for my vehicle, warning light comes on and off often, was recalled for problem with harness wiring short, was told my vehicle, did not qualify for repair. under previous recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. while reversing out of a parking spot, the vehicle idled in drive. the contact accidentally depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier. the air bags did not deploy. the contact and her husband sustained injuries that required medical attention. the vehicle was taken to an independent body shop where it was repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 30,000.......updated 04/01/16 *bf updated 9/15/2017*cn

My 2005 accord had an illuminated supplemental restraint system (srs) light. the honda dealer diagnosed it down to a broken driver seat sensor harness; fault codes 71-10 (drivers seat pos sensor) and a2-10 (faulty pwr supply). this condition is exactly the same as described in honda service bulletin 07-002, "safety recall: driver's seat position sensor harness replacement." just as described in the bulletin, the wires on the harness become damaged and in fact were completely broken away from the plug end. however, my vin falls outside the affected vin's listed in the service bulletin and is not covered under this action. furthermore, i feel the dealer charged more than necessary for the repair: they charged 1.96 hrs of labor (at $97.00/hr), or $190.00, and $15.20 for the part totaling $205.20. in comparison, the service bulletin calls for 0.6 hrs of labor, which when added to the part cost would have totaled $73.40. bottom line: honda did not provide the proper fix for damaged driver's seat position harness's in later production vins. since they continue to cause the same unsafe condition, honda must be compelled to increase the scope of this recall. *tr

Air bag warning light coming on and off intermittently. but heard previous models have recall on this issue but not for 2005 models. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle crashed into a wall and the air bag did not deploy. the driver sustained a head injury during the crash. the contact did not notify the manufacturer regarding the failure. the failure mileage was 190,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph he lost control of the vehicle causing the vehicle to crash into trees. the front driver and passenger side air bags deployed, rupturing with metal fragments striking the contact's left hand and shattering the bones in the pinky finger which required medical attention. a police report was filed. the dealer was made aware of the failure. the contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number 14v351000 (air bags).the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 38,000.

My air bag light was lit,i took it to honda they re-set something, 5 minutes later as i was leaving it lit up again. took it back they said they had to do diagnostics, ordered a wiring harness, installed that. i drove to florida and back 1300 miles round trip and the light is back on meaning my bags will not deploy. i have had a very difficult time getting this addressed. honda (apple tree in fletcher , nc) had my car from tue-sat and i had to rent a car due to their negligence. now i have to drive back over there 1 1/2 hour drive one way and see what is going on. i noticed there have been similar issues, but that my vin was not covered. please advise. i am still driving an unsafe car and have spent countless hours going back and forth and paying for a rental car. *tr

Tl* the driver owned a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated that the driver was traveling approximately 55 mph when the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed. the driver was transported to the hospital to treat extremely serious injuries as a result of the air bag deployment. the contact expressed concerns over the force in which the air bags deployed. the vehicle was destroyed and towed to an insurance lot. the failure was not diagnosed and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileages were 108,000. the vin was unavailable.

While waiting at a traffic light, i adjusted my driver side power seat and saw the air bag sensor light turn on at the same moment. i was not involved in any accident of any kind. i took it to the honda dealer and was told that the sensor failed and it would cost 660.00 to replace. apparently this sensor controls all the front airbags without which they will not deploy. i would like to add this safety complaint to the data base in case others have had the same problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. while driving approximately 45 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch and an embankment. the contact sustained injuries to his back but did not seek medical attention. the air bags did not deploy. the vehicle was towed to an auto body shop. the vehicle was destroyed and not repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

Car was running fine. no problems. all of a sudden the airbag light came on. i stopped the car and checked the seat on the passenger side and seat belts trying to figure out why it was on. i got back into the car and continued home. when slowing to turn into driveway a loud banging noise occurred. the car was put in park and immediately started rolling backwards. this could have been a hazard if a car had been passing by or if this had happened in busy traffic. i could have rolled back and hurt someone, hurt myself or rolled back into oncoming traffic. also if someone had been walking behind the car and gotten ran over and killed. anyway it was later towed to a dealer and diagnostics ran. the dealer informed me that i needed a new transmission. that is not right. my car was like new with a little over 68 thousand miles on it. i still owe on it and purchased it brand new. honda should be responsible for this. since this has happened to me and i have begun to research this i found a ton of recalls for this same problem, yet i am told my car is a 6 cylinder and is not under recall. please help. i was told it would cost me 4400 plus $ to replace the transmission. honda should be responsible for this cost. *tr

Airbag light comes on either while vehicle is in motion or upon starting the ignition and remains on. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated that the seat belt sensor was malfunctioning, causing the airbag warning light to illuminate. as a result, the airbags would not deploy in the event of a crash. an authorized dealer was notified and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 07v001000 (airbags:frontal:sensor/control module). the manufacturer was aware of the failure. no inspection or repairs were completed. the failure and current mileages were 125,000.

Airbag light appears on the dadshboard intermittently. it only comes on if i start the car and do not have my seatbelt on. if my seatbelt is on, the light does not come on. further, while driving and the light is not on, the moment i take my seatbelt off, while the car is running, the airbag light comes on. *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact noticed that the air bag light was illuminated on the instrument panel. the failure occurred intermittently but with time became permanent. in addition, the seat belt warning light would not illuminate when the seat belt was not engaged. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord exl. while driving approximately 40 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel intermittently. the failure progressed with the continuous illumination occurring whenever the engine was in operation. the warning light illuminated until the engine was turned off. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis who detected the seat position sensor wiring harness was faulty and recommended replacement. there was a recall related to the defect under nhtsa campaign id number: 07v001000 (air bags: frontal: sensor/control module). the vin was not included in the recall and the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

I was driving doing about 35 mph and out of no where i hear this big pop! the side airbags on the driver side and in the back had deployed. no one hit me nor did i run over anything in the street.there was no type of impact. the airbag deployed for no reason. i reported it to honda dealership as soon as i got home. they ask me to bring the vehicle in the next day. the dealer ship and honda america inspected the vehicle their determination was that there was underbody damage. i couldn't believe what they showed me. it was a scratch, like someone took a screwdriver or something and scratched the vehicle. this was there reason for deployment. long story short they would not fix the vehicle because they felt it wasn't their fault. i am very disappointed with honda and how this was handled. honda states they are so big on safety for their customers but yet they will not fix vehicles that have defective parts that should be on a recall list, and now i have a vehicle with no side airbags and no seat belt. where is the safety concern?? what if this would have cause and accident where some one was injury, my youngest daughter was in the car with me when this airbag deployed for no reason. thank god it didn't cause me to hit another vehicle. i have done my own research and found out that this same incident has happened to several other customers. clearly there is a malfunction in this part/sensor. when is honda going to take some responsibility and keep their customers safe and do the right thing!!! i will continue to pursue this because i know exactly what happen and it was not cause by something hitting underneath my vehicle. *tr
