I have a honda accord 2005 and have noticed the airbag light continues to light up showing there is some defect. i could never find a recall on this issue and the light have come on for over a year now. i am concerned because we are military and now with the airbag recall issue i have found out talking with the corporate honda dealer they are only getting the vehicle location from local dmv offices. the problem is military register their cars in their home state, but live in other states. so my car is in ca and has also been in fl and va. because of this oversight, it appears i have not been notified of the recall. i called honda to confirm if the faulty part is in my vehicle, and honda refuses to tell me. i have been told "i am not part of the recall because i am not on the list". but if i have the part, and since my car has been in a recall state, i should be included. it is a total lack of coordination and record keeping. they refuse to listen and refuse to assist. i have warned them i am pregnant with twins and need to get this issue resolved for safety purposes, but they refuse to listen. this amounts to negligence and i am now worried honda does not care one bit for my safety or the safety of my unborn twins. *tr
All of a sudden one day the gps navigation system stopped working completely. my car's make/model uses the gps navigation panel to manually change internal functions, access the trip computer, enter addresses, et cetera. without use of the navigation panel, i have severely limited access to most of my car's electronic functions. the navigation gets stuck on the start-up screen (something that looks blue/black with words 'honda'), and never gets to the second warning screen (orange text on black), where one can push 'ok on the touch screen. when the weather is warmer, sometimes i can push this ok button to get into the controls. i usually have 30 seconds until it fails again. the following issues are present: 1) cds; i cannot select a cd to listen to. i can eject/put cds in, but i can only change songs using the controls on my steering wheel. 2) climate control/temperature control: i cannot switch from the a/c to heat. i can only adjust the temperature up/down, recirculate air, or turn on front/rear defrost. for any temperature setting, when i push the 'off' button, i cannot turn the same setting back on with the 'auto' button. if i push the 'auto' button, it recalls some random last temperature settings, usually a very cold a/c setting (which i never programmed or desired). 3) maps; i can't enter any addresses, therefore, the navigation is useless. if it magically works, it turns off shortly after an address is entered. the navi 'lock-up' situation i described here has been present for over a year or so. weather does affect it. my research concludes that many other honda owners had this issue. many were told by honda directly that honda didn't know what the issue is, and to contact alpine, the manufacturer of the gps navi. most customers who did this were told to send their whole cd/dvd reader unit to alpine for repair, which costs several hundred dollars. *tr
The stereo display went completely out. then the radio started scanning radio stations. it is now stuck on some static sounding weather radio station. off & on works but nothing else (e.g . volume, mode, load or eject, station tuning...) i have a library cd in the unit and am unable to eject it. *jb
The air conditioning on my 2005 honda accord stopped working...took it to a mechanic and he said after trying to recharge the system that the condenser had a puncture on it. upon researching this mishap i find that quite a few other people have had this kind of thing happen to them because the condenser is not protected...it is completely exposed and can be damaged quite easily...honda should provide a retrofit....maybe a screen of some type...and reimburse drivers of their vehicles for the cost of replacing the condenser..... *tr
Honda 2005 accord ex: my power windows will not always function. window will not go down when switch is pressed. if it is down, it will not come up. neither direction works correctly. this has been happening for almost 5 months. this week the window went down while i was driving but had not pressed the switch. our honda fit 2007 just received a recall notice for this exact issue. is there also a problem with honda accord 2005?
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. while driving approximately 65 mph, all of the warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. the engine abruptly shut off and the vehicle could not be restarted. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the failure was related to the battery. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred twice more. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic again and the alternator was replaced; however, there was no resolution to the malfunction. recently, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the failure was related to the air condition system component. the vehicle was repaired and there had been no further occurrences. the failure mileage was 34,000 and current mileage was 34,300. updated 10/14/08 *bf updated 10/23/08. *jb
While driving in the middle of a heat wave, the air conditioning in my 2005 honda accord hybrid had stopped blowing cold air. i had only had my car for three months, so i was confused at why my air conditioning had gone out. i took the car to a mechanic who told me that a rock had hit and damaged the ac condenser, causing the freon gas to leak from the condenser. he said that the condenser is located in front of the radiator and because of its location is will always be exposed to debris while driving. the condenser can be seen through the large holes of the vent at the front of the car. the mechanic gave me a $750 estimate for the part and labor. since the car is a newer model, there are not old parts available. he also informed me that because the car was not designed to protect the condenser, that it is very likely that the part will be damaged again and again. this part is not covered by the warranty and i cannot afford to pay $750 every time this occurs. *tr
About two months ago, had tire rapidly deflate while driving at highway speeds. using spare tire, took car to tire kingdom where they determined cause of flat tire was cracked valve stem. tire had to be replaced as the sidewall got crushed and integrity of tire rendered it unusable. a month ago as i exited my car, i heard a hissing sound and noticed another tire had air leaking from the valve stem. i was able to inflate the tire at a nearby gas station and bring it to tire kingdom where they replaced that valve. no tire damage was caused, and the tire was still usable. three weeks ago i drove about 30 feet off the driveway and realized another tire (completely different than the first two) had gone completely flat. using spare tire, i returned to tire kingdom where they determined the cause of the flat was another cracked valve stem. because the tire had a crushed sidewall, it could not be repaired and had to be replaced. i asked the mechanic to replace all 4 valve stems, and he indicated that all four of them, including the two that were replaced within the past 2 months, showed signs of dryness and slight cracking. *tr
I purchase this vehicle on april 28th 2008. the carfax report had an accident indicator by the second owner, but did not mention what type of accident in terms of moderate, minor, no damage, etc. this report was printed march 24th 2008. when i bought the vehicle the air bag light was on, and when driving; it still stayed on and i told atlanta used car dealership, who told me to take it to the honda dealership to look at it and stated that its probably a glitch. i took the vehicle to the honda car dealership to inspect. the honda dealership found the srs control unit and the passenger side curtain airbag faulty. as stated on my customer invoice from gwinnett place honda, the passenger side air bag appeared to be cut out. carfax did not report that there is a deficient airbag. another incident found is that the accelerator occasionally stick when trying to depress. the honda dealership found there was a carbon build up and it needed service. the dealer replaced the right outer tie rod end, which is on the right passenger where the accident occurred. the dealer stated it was unsafe for me to drive without replacing the tie rod, which was serviced and they also performed a 4 wheel alignment and test drive before i left. my experience has led me to take the initiative to communicate with my attorney general's office, and other consumer protection agencies to report this incident. sincerely, olutomilola aiyetiwa *tr
Honda's failure to disclose that a spare tire is not standard equipment on its 2005 accord hybrid put my and my family's lives in danger. we first learned of the situation when my husband had a flat tire. honda then told us that a retro-fit was available. before parts arrived, i experienced a blow out on an out-of-state high speed thoroughfare at night. two police cars and a tow truck were required to transport us to the safety of a motel. another 6 weeks passed before honda had the parts to retro-fit the vehicle at my expense. honda assumes no liability for this situation. *tr
This is a test. please disregard this complaint. *tr
Per local honda service department, air conditioner not working on 2005 honda accord because foreign object (road debris -rock) punctured a/c condensor. american honda dspm contacted with request to provide assistance with repalcement cost and request was denied. i was told and have read of instances on the internet when honda did pay for repair under the same circumstances.*ak
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 55mph, the air conditioning failed to function. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer where the problem was identified as a hole in the condenser unit of the air conditioner. the manufacturer was notified.
On monday 06/05/06 at around 8:45 pm. as i was driving home on the freeway. i started smelling something like gun powder when a few seconds later all of the sudden the driver side air bags deployed with no reason what so ever, the seat belt pulled me back against the seat really hard. i didn't crash, i did not come in contact with anything that could have caused this. thank god i did not have any injuries other than a pain on my left arm due to the deployment of the air bag located on the left side of the driver seat and a slight pain on my lower back i think due to the seat belt pulling me back so hard as the air bags were being eployed. *jb
Radio reception. we have the accord with the satellite/radio combination with a cd player. the antenna is located in the rear window. the radio reception, in either am or fm is unacceptable. the local honda garage has offered to replace the radio but insists that the problem is in the antenna design. the reception is terrible. stations that are easily heard in other vehicles we own or have owned is simply much better. this is annoying at best. i would not have purchased this vehicle had i known the radio reception was so bad.*jb
Hybrid engine does not operate per manufactors published documents creating very poor city mileage
I bought my brand new 2005 accord ex in october of 2004. i had the car for no more than a few weeks when the right rear speaker blew out. i took it back to honda and they replaced it with a new speaker. not even a week later, the same speaker blew out again. i took it back to honda and complained. a honda representative came and checked out the car. not only did they deny me the repair, but the women who looked at the car said the speaker was not blown and that it was most likely the cd's that i was playing. meanwhile, i don't really use my cd player and i hear the popping noise from my speaker when i am playing the radio. i filed a complaint with the bbb and hopefully i will get this fixed. i am extremely disappointed with the honda corporation. *ak
My 2005 honda accord has 40k miles on it and from the original date of purchase to and including today's date my vehicle pulls to the right. this occurs in 4-6 seconds i have taken it to my local dealer numerous times to have this repaired beginning at 1k miles. during this time they have aligned it 2 times and the tires have been rotated 5 times. i informing my dealer of this problem everytime i take my car in for my regular oil change (every 3-4k miles) at which time my dealer advises me this is 1. a "safety feature" and/or 2. the problem is due to low tire pressure. they claim to inflate the tires, rotate or align my car and to date it is not fixed. i have had all work done at stockton honda and to date i have received no satisfaction in getting this fixed. *tr
The jacks that honda provide for its 2005 honda is not safe the system is a knuckle busting experierience and the jack will not hold the vehicle. it takes a lot longer to move the damaged tire from the vehicle. why is it not a law that all car manufacturers are required to use a full size spare and a floor style jack i work in the automotive field and i know how to use a jack. *ak
