Problems with 2005 Honda Accord SEAT BELTS

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. while driving approximately 50 mph, the contact's vehicle was cut off by another vehicle. as a result, the contact rear ended the other vehicle. the front passenger air bag failed to deploy. a police report was filed. the contact stated that all four passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries that required medical attention. the driver and front seat passenger sustained whiplash and injuries to the neck, back, and leg due to the seat belt restraints not operating properly. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 297,371.

Front airbag warning light has come on. additionally, the seat belt light on the dash no longer illuminates. forum search says the driver side seat belt sensor is most likely failed.

Similar issue as report 10659813. the airbag/seatbelt light above the gas gauge randomly stays lit. doesn't happen each time the vehicle is used, and occurs more in cold weather than warm. dealer has been notified several times and each time states that they could not do anything unless we brought the vehicle to them while the light was on. this situation does not happen consistently enough to allow us to take it to a dealer when the light is on. also speed control does not work!

I have 2005 honda accord which is not included in the takata recall but i have a airbag light that goes off and on. as a result, my passenger side seat belt locked up when i took it to the dealer they said that the engine read a code that said it was involved in rear collision and it was not. they also stated that the seat belt could have locked up because the airbag light is on. someone was sitting in the seat and had to maneuver to get out of it. the dealership has told me it will cost $800 and up to repair the seat belt (and it was not covered under the lifetime warranty for seat belts)but when i took the car to honda the airbag light was not on at that moment so they told me it was nothing they can do unless it was on. i believe that this is a problem because the dealership also told me that if i have a faulty airbag that my seat belt may continue to lock up. i am hesitant to fix the seat belt because of the airbag situation.

Takata recall.....i purchased this car 2 years ago and the seat belt warning light has always been lit. i just had my oil changed today and the repair shop advised me that there was an error code which means defective air bag. also the driver seat belt buckle showed defective. yesterday i received 2 different emails from nhtsa for 2 recalls (#19v499 and #19v501). no letter was received from honda yet but i hate to wait for a letter to arrive as that could take 60 days, then would have to wait for the dealer to get the parts and then get an appointment. this situation is life-threatening. is there any way to speed this process up? also the repair shop stated that a lot of the air bags that have been replaced, are now being recalled.

Takata recall. my 2005 honda accord airbag/srs light has been continuously staying off and on.

Takata recall i was coming to a stop for a traffic light and did not brake in time to stop my vehicle before i tapped into the rear bumper of an suv. i was going very slow /probably under 10mph. my drivers side airbag deployed and i got cuts on my arm and a chemical burn as well. my drivers side seatbelt is not working now (locked.) i have slight damage on the right front passenger side bumper. i became aware of the takata airbag recall after this happened. this occurred on 2/20/2017 in the daytime/ clear, sunny skies.

The cluster lights and the dome light will get dim. the dome light does when you open the doors. the cluster lights will while the head lights are on. the lights on the radio do the same. the radio will make a loud noise and stop playing until you turn off and turn back on.the wiring to back speakers is put in wrong dont work at all. the seat belts will lock when trying to pull them and it dont matter if its in motion or stationary.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 honda accord. the contact stated that the vehicle was leaking fluid from underneath. the failure recurred multiple times. it was discovered that the fluid was leaking from the power steering hose and a clamp was placed on the hose. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also stated that the seat belt warning indicator illuminated when the seat belt was fastened and the brake pedal was depressed, but the seat belt failed to retract. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

I recently received an airbag notice to have the passenger air bag replace at the dealer. i promptly delivered my vehicle to the dealer texas honda of austin, tx. after the air bag was replaced and they updated the computer, i am now getting an srs warning light which is intermitting. and according to my manual take it to your dealer. when i reported it to the dealer they advised that the two had no relevance. that i would have to pay for the repairs and that the parts were not available. according to honda's site the seat wiring harness should have been replaced to avoid this.

The drivers side seat belt buckle, position sensor harness failed and gave a airbag failure display. repair shop obtained two alert codes on the honda accord, e.g. 61-10 and 71-10. the harness was replaced. this is a safety issue that the airbags would not have worked due to a buckle failure. the two codes previously noted could not be identified. the vehicle"s vin no. reports no outstanding recalls, including the recent manufactures airbag problems.

Srs indicator light illuminated upon unbuckling driver's side seat belt with engine running. srs light would remain on after placing seat belt back into the buckle. the srs light would also illuminate at random while driving with seat belt in buckle. the only temporary solution was to stop/start the engine. honda's diagnosis was a faulty seat belt buckle requiring a complete replacement which resolved the issue. however, the dealer would not honor the lifetime seat belt warranty for this repair. *tr

The car have a recall for front airbags the light on the dashboard was on but when i went to fix the problems the car still have the same light on and more malfunctions with the seat belt sensor. honda didn't fix it a want me to pay almost $300 for repair something that honda is suppose to take care if the car has a recall.

My car dashboard showing up the airbag sign on and off. i make investigation thru motor trend that this car has a problem about seat belt/buckle front driver seat. i call up american honda at torrance ca. they told me my vehicle vin # is not affected by this problem. this is surprise for me. the car is made by honda. all of this kind of model should be affected by this airbag problem. as per motor trend the recall date was jan. 03, 2007. and most affected is 2005 honda accord. please help me this is not safety anymore. *tr

Have information that the air bag and side air bag may not be working properly on the passenger side and the shoulder strap on the same side doesn't release as it should. thanks

I was driving like any other day on the freeway and my passenger airbag deployed for no apparent reason- there was no accident at all. luckily there was no one in the passenger seat. after contacting honda they said they would send a representative to the local dealership to check to take care of the repair but the honda dealership in el cerrito ca did not want to pay for the repair and wanted to charge full amount to fix it saying the car is out of warranty. i needed my car soon for my transportation so i went to my trusted mechanic to repair the airbag and he informed me it was not safe to drive becuase the driver's airbag could deploy at anytime which could result in a crash or injury or fatality. i would appreciate a full refund from honda for cost of the repair as it came out to be $3,374.68. this cost is very high and i am not responsible for this safety malfunction. this is a major safety issue and i am very upset that honda does not want to fix what could have possibly caused a person harm. thank you *tr updated 09/05/12*lj updated 09/10/2012 *js

Airbag light appears on the dadshboard intermittently. it only comes on if i start the car and do not have my seatbelt on. if my seatbelt is on, the light does not come on. further, while driving and the light is not on, the moment i take my seatbelt off, while the car is running, the airbag light comes on. *kb

Air bag light would come on intermittently. then started staying on more. within the week went to dealer and they said it was my seatbelt sensor. covered under my 5 year extended warranty. thank goodness. *tr

The seat belts in the 2005 honda accord hybrid provided no safety in a collision. the airbags also failed to deploy in the same collision. i was the passenger in the front seat of a 2005 honda accord hybrid when we rear ended a volvo s-80. the volvo then struck an altima. the accord struck the volvo with considerable force. the volvo's trunk was damaged and would not open. the structural bar in the accord protecting the radiator was also bend beyond repair. i had the passenger seat as far back as it would go and was wearing my seat belt. during the collision my knees struck the front dash and swelled. the driver also suffered severe knee pain mostly likely from striking her knees against the dash or steering column. i believe the airbags should have deployed. even if the bags did not deploy then the seat belts should have held. the seat belts in the 2005 honda accord hybrid provided no safety in a collision.

I was traveling at a speed of about 45 mph. the driver's side curtain airbag, driver's seat airbag, and driver's seatbelt spontaneously deployed. there is no apparent reason for this. *jb

Failure of driver's shoulder seat belt to retract during major accident. while driving my 2005 honda accord, another driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and i hit head on at 45 mph at my driver's left front to center front. driver airbag deployed and seat belt was buckled, but there was no tension nor retraction of my driver's shoulder seat belt. i went above air bag, into and broke windshield and back up again. sustained head, neck, back, chest and arm injuries. 2005 honda was totaled by insurance company. *tr

While my son was driving my vehicle, a 2005 honda accord ex-l, he was involved in a head-on crash in which he was injured and the vehicle received heavy damage. my son was taken to the hospital due to cervical spine, lumbar and chest injury. the vehicle had struck another vehicle at a speed of about 35 mph and the airbag failed to deploy. on the dashboard the airbag sign did light on, however, no airbag had deployed. the seat belt pre-tensioner had fried since the seat belt was locked and was not retracting in addition, the seat belt pre-tensioner had fries. i had contacted honda north america, and they reported there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and the vehicle behaved as it was suppose to. however, after contacting nhtsa, the representative stated with a 2005 honda accord, if the seat belt pre-tensioner fires, the airbag should fire simultaneously, who then suggested me to submit a claim to nhtsa. the vehicle did undergo repair authorized by the insurance company. the seat belt was replaced in addition to the airbag module and other associated items. however, the old items are not available. *jb

Dt: the contact's vehicle was involved in a multiple vehicle crash. this vehicle was the fourth to collide with the other vehicles. upon impact, ,both frontal airbags failed to deploy and the driver side seat belt did not restrain her properly. the seat belt allowed her to collide with the steering wheel and caused minor bruises. the frontal collision caused frame damage to vehicle. a police report taken at the scene. the vehicle is currently at a collision center being inspected. *ak
