We have classified the 181 complaints from 2004 Honda Accord about AIR BAGS into the following categories.
I contacted the pat peck honda dealership in gulfport, ms in oct 2014 to schedule a service appointment for my daughter's car because of the airbag recall. i was told that the part was on backorder and she would be contacted when it came in. my daughter called once to check on it and was told they were still waiting on the part. on jan 3, 2015, she called the service dept and was passed around to approximately 4-5 different people/departments, none of whom acted like they knew what to do or who to transfer her to. she was told to leave a message, which she did, and she was still not called back. i then called the service dept and asked for the manager, explained who i was and who i was calling for and about and was told they had no record of the initial request in oct 2014 and no record of any parts being ordered. i was assured that the replacement part would be ordered immediately and she would be contacted to set up an appt. it is now feb 3, 2015 and we have not heard anything. we received the 1st safety recall notice regarding the airbag issue in the mail today and now there is a 2nd recall on the same airbag(s). i am contacting the service dept again tomorrow, but this is totally unacceptable, on both honda's part and on pat peck honda's part. the fact that takata is the only manufacturer of this airbag is also highly concerning, both in their denial to take responsibility and in their lack of concern. honda has always had a great reputation and high resale value, but this will be the last honda we own. this is not a minor safety issue and i happen to value my 22 year old daughter's life a little more than honda does.......that point has been made very clear. there has not even been an offer made to disconnect the airbag, which is what we will have done, if these are not replaced immediately. totally unacceptable................ *tr
Air bag sensor light came on abruptly and stays on. turned the ignition off and on multiple times but the air bag sensor light stays on. *tr

Today, i had passenger side ceiling and seat air bag inadvertent deployment while driving on highway. there was no passenger in the passenger seat. as the driver, i was the only person in the vehicle (however, approximately 30 minutes later, there would have been a toddler in the passenger side of the backseat) . i was startled and confused by the unexpected explosive noise ("boom") and only noticed the side air bag "curtain" a few seconds later and after that, the protruding passenger seat air bag. *tr

This accord is equipped with takata airbags. honda had recalled vehicles but only in certain states. this recall should be nation-wide. what is nhtsa going to do about this? [xxx] . information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I took my car to a local honda dealer for a recall to be repaired. after getting the car back, i still get a dashboard warning light indicating that the part may still be defective. the part in question is the passenger side power seat wire harness (seat srs sensor). i was not aware of this recall, but the dealer was kind enough to inform me, but i just don't feel the issue has been corrected. *tr

My vehicle's airbag light has been coming on and off since july 2014. until recently (end of november 2014), i had no idea about the manufacturer's recall. in today's world, businesses are not even trying to be responsible towards their customers and try to charge for airbag light checking or replacement. to prove it, even during the major national recall for honda airbag, the honda dealer: columbus, oh: germain honda of dublin 6715 sawmill rd dublin, oh 43017 united states declines service. they initially denied service saying that there is no recall open for my vehicle by the vin number, then she said that it was already taken care of sometimes in 2004. we have owned the car since 2005 and we never had it repaired for this problem. i want to prevent an accident and not look for trouble, but it is difficult to be proactive when the dealers want to charge you even when there is a well-known nationwide recall for the very problem you are reporting. please help with making it easier for customers to have their cars repaired without having to fight for it or convince the dealers that it is their responsibility. thank you! *js

This vehicle was purchased used- how do i know it wasn't originally from a "known humid state"? and what about cars that might have been exposed to superstorm sandy? this sounds like general motors and toyota when they claimed "driver error". if humidity is a factor, it's a factor- is honda saying we don't get humidity in new york? *tr

Over the past couple of months the red airbag light would sometimes stay on while driving. called local honda dealer who said my 2004 accord wasn't recalled for this issue based on my accord's vin. i researched airbag issue & saw other hondas had been recalled. i have seen on nhsta site that many other 2004 accord owners have had an issue with airbag light staying on. this means the airbag will not work in an accident! it is a serious safety issue. i was concerned about my safety & needed my car inspected. my car failed inspection because of the airbag problem (code 61-10). i had seat removed & new seat buckle switch installed. this cost $225.61 to fix so my car would pass inspection. honda recalled some cars for the airbag issue in 2007. honda needs to look into this & fix this & reimburse those of us who have fixed it. *tt
In spring 2014 i contacted us govt national highway traffic safety administration. at which time they indicated that honda had an open investigation for air bags automatically deploying. the lady on the phone told me to call honda and make i report which i did. honda had me contact the local dealership which indicated that it would be $395 to investigate the issue. i got back of hold of honda & told them i would not pay for them to investigate their air bag almost killing my daughter, when the airbag deployed whilst driving, not hitting anything. fortunately for her, it was a slow speed when this occurred and she was not hurt. today i stopped at honda cortland oh apostilakas, i didn't get a written estimate. honda wants to charge me over $1600 in materials and an indeterminate amount of work hours to perform the labor. air bag disables the heater and other functions on the car, thus it needs replaced or provide a solution to use my car again.
Another death could be avoided, this car was recalled in 2014 too late for ea domination of the car, and now after speaking with attorneys again the air bars are involved. our son was so evict rated that there was nothing to do, pronounced dead at the scene . emt's were helpless, he lost his face and his chest. no protection from this vehicle, pleas notify others. I was driving my car and my transmission started slipping. i keep up with all of the scheduled maintenance for this car. i got the transmission rebuilt and now less then 3 months later the car is starting to jerk again and the drive light on the dash is starting to blink. i also have this error code that won't go away saying there is something wrong with the fuel tank. i got the gas knob changed and the error goes away but when you hook the computer up to it, the code still comes up. the air bag light also comes on and off when it wants to. *tr
About a year ago i noticed the passenger side airbag warning light on the dashboard now i am afraid to let anyone sit in the front passenger seat in light of this new information about exploding airbags.please keep me updated on this recall. thank you. *tr
I was pulling into a parking space in a parking garage. when i was about 3/4 of the way into the parking space, i put my foot on the brake. apparently my foot slipped or i had put it on the gas pedal instead of the brake. my car surged into the concrete wall about 5 feet in front of me as i pushed harder on the gas pedal because i thought i was pushing the brake. none of my 8 airbags went off and i do not believe that my seat belt tightened its tension at impact. i suffered a shattered patella, 3 broken toes, a bruised sternum and a black eye. if the airbags and seat belts had worked properly i believe my injuries would be less severe as they would have kept me from flying forward at impact. the impact was strong enough to crack the transmission case, break one engine mount, break the air conditioner, destroy the bumper and hood and cause repairable damage to the quarter panels. your crash test reports and honda's safety information do not seem true to me due to my personal experience.

I have noticed the air bag light comes on, took it to honda dealership and they told me that the code is 61-10. they would order the seat belt part (special order). i was under the impression that seat belts would be covered by the warranty for the life of the car. dealers told me "it's electrical problem in the seat belt, not mechanical" and honda does not cover this even the language in the warranty does not express this at all. i was very disappointed how honda would not honor the warranty. wondering how they received high marks for customer relations. the only recourse i have is spend the $260.00 and never, never buy another honda again ! *tr
There are plenty of online posts regarding the srs light intermittently coming on in honda vehicles. dealership stated that problem was due to a faulty sensor inside the seat belt buckle. considering the magnitude of reports, there should've been a recalled issued. although the new car warranty booklet clearly states on page 31 that there is lifetime coverage of any seat belt component "that fails to function properly during normal use," honda has refused to honor it per conversation w/[xxx] @ 800-999-1009 on 1/23/13 @ approximately 9:05am et. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Takata recall nhtsa lists the vehicle as subject to the honda recall. honda currently does not list the vehicle as subject to the recall. vehicle was purchased in south florida, always driven in florida. the srs light is continuously activated whenever the vehicle is used. local honda dealer is aware of the problem, has failed to act. honda dealer has had this problem noted on the vehicle's service record as "primary item concern" in january, 2013.
Urgent - safety issues recently my air bag light indicator came on when i started the engine and it will stay on until i turn off the engine . this seem to be happen more frequently but it does not happen all the time. further search on the web this seem to be a common problems for 2004 honda accord, below are steps that i had tried. 1/ if the light came on when the engine start, turn off the engine and start again sometimes the light goes off sometimes it does not. 2/ if the light came on when the engine start, turn off the engine then buckle the seatbelt and start, this seem to turn off the airbag light. 3/ with the engine running while in part, un-buckle the seatbelt sometimes the airbag light come on but not the seatbelt light. other time seatbelt light on and airbag light off ( i think this is how it should be) searching through nhtsa website i found one really that might related to this on 2007 (nhtsa campaign # 07v001000) airbag frontal sensor/control module but did not receive any recall. please help to look into this as the airbag might not work when there is an accident. *tr
To whom it may concern: there is a huge safety problem with the passenger air bag sensor in my car. the passenger seat airbag indicator lights comes on intermittently when no items are in the seat, and occasionally comes when items are in the seat. the seat definitely has a short in it and i am concerned about it not working properly if i am involved in an accident. *tr ## vin passed ##

My 2004 honda accord had been left parked overnight on our driveway. at about 10:30 in the morning the next day,12/18/11, i got into the car, and with my door still wide open and the car in "park", i turned on the ignition and started the motor for a 2 or 3 minute warm-up. i was on the driver seat and my wife on the passenger seat with her door also wide open. i was talking to my wife with my face turned towards her while the car warmed up. after about two minutes, i turned off the motor and pulled out the key from the ignition switch to hand it to my wife still facing her with my left side towards the steering wheel. our house key and the car key were on the same key chain and i was handing it to my wife to lock the front door of the house. right at that moment, the driver side airbag violently exploded with full force and with a very loud bang whipping my face and my left ear. whatever i had in my hands (my wallet, a cd and the car keys) were all blown away and landed outside the car and i was completely deafened and disoriented by the blow and the loud explosion. for the next two hours or so, i was hurting in my left ear and was unable to hear anything with that ear. its been more than 24 hours since that incident and my ear though not hurting as much, still has some ringing. i reported the incident to the american honda motor company but am very disappointed with their handling of this situation. they want me to have the car towed to a dealership and have it checked all at my expense. they refuse to pay for any expenses whatsoever that i may incur with regards to this incident including medical check-up. and to make matters worse, they claim that the car is out of warranty and as such they are not obligated to pay for any repairs. this is not a warranty issue, it is a serious safety matter, they cannot absolve of their responsibility. i feel totally helpless!! *tr
The srs light of my 04 honda accord has been on since late 2011. since it's a long drive, i adjusted the position of my driver's seat to make myself comfortable. somehow, the srs light started to turn on and it has been on ever since, indicating the airbag might be deactivated. i researched online and realized it's a well-known issue related to driver's seat position sensor harness. honda announced a safety recall back in january 2007 to fix this issue for some vehicles of certain models. the model i have was included in the recall but not the particular vehicle i have. i contacted honda for explanation and they insisted it be my own responsibility to get this diagnosed and fixed. many honda owners including myself just never received any recall notice that we think we deserve. relating this to the recent honda scandal of under-reporting the number of people died in honda vehicles, it could be a similar scheme of practice of under estimating the number of vehicles involved in the recall. i finally got a recall notice several weeks ago regarding the airbag inflator issue and i thought both the srs and inflator issues would be fixed with a single service. i was wrong and the dealer only took care of the inflator not the srs. i called honda and they ignored my complaint once again. i hope federal regulators can investigate this case and i know i'm not alone. life could have been lost due to non-opening honda airbags.i believe it's a bigger problem. please see the link below for more details of similar complaints. http://www.hondaproblems.com/trends/airbags/. *tr
Airbag light started coming on intermittently. now it's coming on and staying on every time i drive. it comes on with all the other lights during the start/self-test, then goes out, comes back on and stays on. *tr
