Tl* the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. while driving 40 mph, several warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. o'daniel honda (located at 123 beverly dr, omaha, ne 68114, (402) 393-7801) was contacted via phone. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 153,000.
I recently bought a used honda cord with perfect carfax and all stock parts. the battery died on it twice and it failed to start within two days of buying it. i went to replace the battery and as soon as i did my 3rd gear of my engine 'went out' according to the midas mechanic. vehicle was in motion on the high way and almost yanked me into the concreate street rails. is there anything i can do?
The airbag light turned on when i was driving the highway, no reason as to why it would turn on because i didn't get into a wreck or crash at all. i've had this car for about a year, bought it from a previous owner they had said it was in perfect condition. so irritated because i use this car every single day to drive to work and from and i also take my daughter to her doctors appointments in this vehicle. ii don't want the airbags going off while i'm driving and possibly crash because i will sue. the engine light is always on since like a week into buying the car and i took it to a mechanic but it still turns on.
When i was driving the car just shut off in the middle of the street. my friend and i try to push it to the side but the wheels will not move.
Takata recall my car won't accelerate when i hit the gas pedal
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. upon performing an oil change, the contact noticed the oil was two quarts low. the contact added more oil to the vehicle, but had to constantly add approximately one or two more quarts every couple of weeks. it was unknown if a leak was present. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was approximately 143,000.
I'm the third owner of a 2003 honda accord v6 ex coupe. at 151000 miles my transmission began to fail. it would slam it's way from 5th gear to 1st. luckily nobody was behind me. i was going 60 mph from the shell station .5 miles from my house, and slowed to 30 by the time my car was in 1st in a curve. i almost lost control of the vehicle. come web to find out this is a wide spread unresolved problem that is endangering everyone in and around these vehicles. i called honda and they said in 2004 the vehicle already had the recall performed, but much like the thousands of other people who ended up with this cat it did not fix the faulty transmission and honda knows that the issue still exists and wants people to continue paying to get the same problematic rebuilt transmission. i can not believe every one of these transmissions haven't been recalled, and if needed i will pursue legal action against honda especially having a 1 year old daughter in a known rolling death trap. once it gets to first it flashes d on the dash and the check engine comes on. my tcs and abs is also tripped by this issue causing further risk of endangering other drivers and myself. every search i have made on this vehicle days the same as i'm saying now, but at varying stages. please help get this issue resolved not just for myself but for everyone who owns this particular honda. to make matters worse this is the first year model of the honda accord v6 ex coupe. the car is currently parked and won't be moved until a recall or i swap the entire transmission out for a manual transmission that i can't afford, but i definitely can't afford to replace my car or continue to pay to replace the same faulty transmission. this is an outrage. *tr
Oil consumption my car is burning oil 3-4 qts every 600 miles . honda says there is nothing wrong with my car and this is normal. bunch of crap !
My 2003 honda accord ex v6 has 110k miles on it. i was driving on hwy 280 and it felt as if i had slammed on the breaks and or downshifted to first from 4th. car jerked twice. i immediately got off the freeway and the car's service light came on and the d light was flashing. the transmission has failed which is the issue that honda had with these cars. a case manager at honda said they will not fix the issue even though the issue is exactly the same as the recall.
I was driving southbound in peabody, massachusetts on 128 almost on to 95 when at centennial drive exit when my vehicle, without warning, slowed from 60 mph to 30 mph , i put on hazards as car went from 30 mph to 10 mph to dead all in a matter of 45 seconds tops. it was around 12pm and traffic was moderate to heavy. cars behind me were forced to slow at a significant rate, luckily a pile up did not occur as the likelihood of such a accident was extremely possible with one driver not fully present i don't want to imagine the possibilities. i was able to semi slide car into breakdown lane safely enough and aaa came 1 hour latter as they listed my call a priority call.. i had car towed to home town and mechanic went through car in its entirety to discover that transmission needed to be replaced. honda is well aware of this issue as there are thousands of testimonies from honda owners regarding their transmission problems occurring around 126,213 miles. the models with faulty transmissions are 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009 . *tr
I'm the original owner of the vehicle, and have always used honda for service and maintenance of my vehicle. the transmission failed without warning. thankfully, i wasn't driving in the highway because this could have caused a major accident. my car basically came to a stop when the transmission failed. *tr
I recently purchased the 2003 honda accord for travel. after purchasing the vehicle i noticed that the check engine light was on. the mechanic told me that there was a torque converter that needed to be replaced. after doing additional research i found that other honda owners had this same issue. my car rumbles when driving through residential areas. when i try to enter my vin number in to see if my car is eligible it won't come up, but i'm definitely experiencing the transmission slipping in specific gears. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. while driving 35 mph, the engine caught fire and the radio turned on and off. the instrument panel lights flashed and the speedometer increased to the highest number. the contact merged the vehicle to the side of the road and noticed smoke under the hood. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
Timing chain slipped, resulting in mashed valves. engine replacement required. oil loss due to unknown causes may have been a contributing factor. even though engine oil was replaced at regular intervals, engine oil disappeared, with no sign of oil leaks or burnt oil in the exhaust. *tr
Transmission failure...suddenly disengaged! luckily i was not on the freeway (i-80); only driving 35 miles per hour three block from home. *tr
Transmission locks in second gear when driving violently downshifts to second gear and over revs and no reverse after it cools same result seems to be overheating and starving for fluid. *tr
Traveling north on i-83 from baltimore to pennsylvania, the car started jerking violently, and came to a complete stop, front wheels quit rotating (locked?). we were thrown forward against our seatbelts, the rear of the car jumping slightly to the right. gratefully, traffic was light. we shifted gears on the console back and forth and got the car moving again, taking the middletown rd. exit, pulled off the road, checked transmission fluid, read the car manual. half-hour later, we continued slowly, but after a few miles, the car began jerking again, slowing, sometimes stopping. we were able to get home with hazard lights flashing, letting cars pass by pulling to the side. this was early afternoon, very little traffic, and we were not far from home. had car towed to dealer who said transmission failure, needed to be replaced. we bought this car new in 2003, maintained it per manufacture suggestions, and had no prior problems or indication the transmission was failing as the car was running as smoothly as it has since it was new. *tr
While driving with around 35 mph the vehicle start shifting gears violently random which made me pull over and turn off the car. luckily i was very close to home and i decided to start the car and drive it to my parking lot. the transmission would not shift up from 1st gear and i was going with 20 mph for more than a mile. on the next day i tow the car ($130.00) to a shop and the mechanic there told me that my transmission is done and i either need to rebuilt it or get a new one!!!! so far $200, $130+$70( diagnostics). the estimated price for rebuilding the transmission that i got was $2700.00 after the accident i searched and realized that i am not the only one with the exact same problem, not even close to be the only one, but nothing has been done regarding that particular issue so far and basically everybody who has 2003-2007 honda accord is suffering from the same problem. it is unbelievable how no recall procedure was initiated, yet! this is a serious problem which can cause the car to get into an multiple car accident! i am writing this complaint hoping to change something in that forever postponed problem! i also would like to ask is there is a way to get some kind of compensation for the repair cost? one more time i really hope someone reads this complaints and they are not left in the general pile of paperwork on some forgotten desk in the corner covered with dust! ps: i am e-mailing to the manufacturer's headquarters and i am calling everyone who is reading this to do the same! *tr
My car is burning or leaking excessive amounts of oil ...within a 2 year period i've replaced 2- 02 sensors and 2 -catalytic converters. this has lead to replacement of my entire exhaust system as well (honda suggested). i have to literally carry around a gallon of oil in my trunk due to excessive oil burning/leakage. i've spoken to honda many times but noone seems to know why its burning so much oil, i was told high mileage and to use a thicker grade of oil. i don't have money to keep this up. i like my car but i'm very unhappy and frustrated, please help..this has been an ongoing problem and i'm just finding out that others have been having the same issues. i have "some" documentation but not much, i was unaware this was an issue with more than myself. please help.
I purchased a used 2003 honda accord in april 2011. it now has 132, 000 miles on it. this week i was driving on the interstate when my "d" drive on my hear start flashing in my car rpm started revving up & my check engine light came on. so i put my emergency flashes on to get the shoulder of the expressway my car. my car wouldn't drive anymore in the d drive shift to make it home safely i had to drive my car in d3 all the way home. my mechanic is now saying i need a new transmission which will cost me $2500 i don't have. i've driven honda accord's all my life this is the first honda that i've had a major issue with. *tr
Naples, fl airport road and davis blvd. i was leaving a meeting and headed northbound on airport road at 3:55pm on tuesday, october 15th. i was approaching the stoplight at the intersection on airport road and davis blvd. when i tried to break, the rpm's on my honda accord rose from 1000 to 2000 to 3000 and i noticed as i continued to break the rpm's kept increasing and the car kept rolling even though i was pressing on the break as hard as i could, i was literally standing on the break. finally i was so afraid i was going to hit the person in front of me that i pulled the emergency break on and then the rpm's went up to 5000. the car finally stopped and i immediately shut it off, i was inches from the bumper in front of me. i waited about five seconds and turned the car back on and it went right up to 5000 rpm's. i then jumped out of the car and asked the person behind me to help me. he turned the car on again and again it revved up to 5000 rpm's. he kept pushing the gas pedal with the car in park and eventually it came "unstuck." i have never experienced this in my 18 years of driving, not sure what to do except i know i need to take it to the dealership tomorrow. i am terrified to drive this vehicle and terrified someone will get hurt if this happens again. this needs to be recalled immediately and something needs to be done, this is extremely unsafe, please do something. *tr
Transmission will not or struggles to move in or out of second gear. *tr
Problem started : about a week ago . engine would stall if either left or right turn signal was/were activated. at the present, engine dies when the brake pedal is depressed..american honda told us that they had never heard of this complaint before. ( problem also occurs when 4 way flashers are activated). car is unsafe and not drivable without turn signals and brake lights. i would like to know if any other honda owners have or have had this problem , and also what was done or required to repair this issue . *tr
Car started burning oil at 100,000 miles. tail pipe is full of black soot. i have to put 2 quarts of oil in the car every 700 miles. car has been regularly maintained. on june 28, 2013, at 148,000 miles, the gears started slipping as i was driving. the drive light in the dash started blinking. car would not shift gears properly. reverse would not work. mechanic stated transmission needs to be rebuilt - costing $2,800. i thought honda's were supposed to last longer than this. i've already complained to honda about the car burning oil but they said that is normal. what other options are there? does anyone want to get a class action lawsuit together? i've read about many instances where the motor burns oil and the transmission fails, even way earlier than mine has. it's too bad it would take a fatality for honda to respond. *tr
I was driving around 20 mph when my car starts revving and the car doesn't move. it happens between 20mph-40mph. i was to pull over then start driving again. it happens more often then not now. *tr
While slowing down to stop at light in traffic and car just stopped and almost got hit by cars in my rear . i heard a loud boom and car(car mileage at 131239 )wouldn't move .it also wouldnt go in to park and there was grinding sound when trying to put in park . had car towed to find out its was transmission ,paid 1895.00.now here i am 7/27/2015 and the same thing happen (car mileage at 153000) . how is honda not have a recall on these cars. it is dangerous and i see so many complaints about this problem with this car .i spent alot or money to have a car continue to need transmission fixed at $2000 cost .
We driving on 35w -south at around 60 miles an hour and the vehicle turned itself to 1st gear. had to pull over to shoulder and called aaa. was told that solenoid to be replaced. after the replacement, car was ok and again, after few miles, has a similar incident on 494, where the gear shifted back to a lower gear at 60 miles an hour and missed a fully loaded walmart truck by inches! i had to spend 1800$ to get the transmission fixed. *tr
The car suddenly would not accelerate and change into the 3rd gear while driving on a busy road. had the car towed to an authorized mechanic who diagnosed the issue as transmission failure with the 3rd gear. this is the same issue that caused honda to issue a recall for their 2003 v6 accord in 2004. a month prior, on two separate occasions, i was driving between 40mph-45mph when all of a sudden the car would not accelerate and slowed down, while i simultaneously engaged the accelerator. during both incidences the tcs and check engine lights immediately came on. after pulling over and turning the car off and on, the lights did not remain on. this is a very dangerous car with thousands of complaints already noted for the same issue. honda needs to recall this dangerous car. *tr
Uses tons of oil, has done so since new. disappointed in motor and honda's lack of response for this issue!!
Informed kolbe honda that my transmission was slipping back on 9/2/2004 and again on 11/9/2010. the service department claims there is nothing wrong with my transmission. i have paperwork stating the dates and complaints about my transmission. the honda dealerships claimed there was nothing wrong with my transmission. at this time, my car was still under warranty. on 3/7/2013. is when i almost died on the freeway when my car just slowed down to a crawl in the middle lane while cars were driving 60-65 miles per hour. i thought my life was over at this time. i was able to get onto the right shoulder and was in shock. i telephoned my husband to come to my rescue, then we crawled the car into honda. after bringing my car back two different times to see why the car was still not running, the second time honda told me that i need a transmission. i purchased a rebuilt transmission for $3051.00, as honda did nothing to help me out. my car has been impeccably maintained. i almost lost my life for honda not paying attention to me complaining about my transmission slipping from 2004. i often have my grandchildren in my car and was thankful that i was the only one in the car this day. i believe that honda totally ignored me and probably a lot more people with the same problem. as of today, i still fear driving my car on the freeways and i stay in the right lane only in the event this happens again. i am a senior citizen and feel that i was taken advantage of. there is no reason why i had to spend $3051.00 to put a transmission that should have been replaced by honda. i would appreciate some information back. i am still using my car as i cannot afford to purchase another car. *tr
Other driver was driving reckless!!!!! ran a red light at 60 miles an hour 20 miles over speed limit, side impact , air bags did not work!!!!!!! major brain injury as a result!!!!! *tr

A couple of weeks ago my automatic transmission started acting funny at low speeds - having trouble downshifting to speed up the car (i.e. going about 25 and then trying to speed up - it would just feel like it was in neutral and the car would rev but not speed up).the biggest issue then was that, at high speeds, the car would violently shift into 1st gear - thus causing the car to suddenly and severely slow down. this happened several times on the highway, and each time i barely avoided an accident - luckily no one was right behind me either time it happened. after doing some research, it looks like '03 honda accords with the v6 have major transmission issues - and it appears many other people have had this same issue.... but i was never made aware of it. my current car is an accident waiting to happen. i called honda and they will not do anything about. *tr
I bought my honda from the dealership 06/23/12, 1 owner completely serviced through the dealership then traded in at same dealership. when bought it had 101,793 miles, timing belt was done at 90k and power steering pump. not even month later i had to replace throttle body. i've always felt something wrong with the transmission after bought car. on 11/10/2012 out of no where when i was getting off the freeway my car started to down shift really hard, was jerking while driving and then was stuck in first gear, luckily i was less than a mile from my house so i drove home then parked it and no indicator lights on. the next morning (today) called a friend who works on hondas and he looked at it and said the transmission fluid was very dirty and practically gone. drove around the block twice and transmission was working fine. then later drove about 8 miles and started hard down shifting and was stuck in first gear. then parked and tried to put my car in reverse and it not move acted like was in neutral. put it in park, turned it off then started it again and put it into reverse, reverse now worked. after that i had my friend look under the hood at the transmission fluid and it was practically empty again. so i went to the store got more transmission fluid and put some in and tried to drive back home. everything seemed fine for about another 8 miles then it started to hard down shift all over again. after another 3 miles the car completely freaked out check engine light finally came on along with the abs, tsc, and the light showing i was in drive started flashing. so i pulled over and put the car in park and everything was still doing the same thing, including the light indicating i was in drive even thought i was in park and the park gear light was on. so i turned off my car, sat for a min then restarted. driving slow needed to stop and brakes started to go out. *tr
After about 45 minute ride out of my city on a major highway, my car violently downshifted from 65 mph to 0 and would not move out of first gear thereafter. this has happened everyday afterwards that i drive my car at least 20 minutes. it seems as if once a mechanism inside the transmission heats up or gets hot, this happens. i always service my vehicle as required, i am worried. this is a major transmission failure. i have read where over 200 other honda owners have had this issue in the past but no recall has been issued. please advise. *tr
When driving the car will not shift from second to third gears. while driving, the car while suddenly downshift to a lower gear with no warning. no check engine light is on. honda states this is not covered under warranty but this should be since it is a major component of the car and this is something that honda was aware of when the car was released. *tr
Key fell apart in hand when placed into ignition and made vehicle unable to start engine. gear shift button which needed to be depressed to shift fell out and made vehicle unable to be shifted into gear. *tr
I went to put the key in to start my vehicle and the key totally fell apart in my hand. it was dark and i had no way to start my car. i tried putting the key portion without the enclosure into the ignition but it would not work to start the car. i then tried to reassemble the key in the enclosure and try to turn the car on so i could at least get home...it did catch long enough to start the car and i had to hold it to get home. since then both of my keys have fallen completely apart and i had to use gorilla glue to hold it together but because of the glue the auto lock does not work....and the key is very wobbly in the enclosure. this is a major safety factor which i have seen written about on the complaint websites. i have also called and reported it only to find out that this is not a safety factor. *tr
I was traveling at 60 mph on us 30 when my honda accord suddenly jerked and slipped into low gear. i was nearly rearended and was definitely in shock. i continued homeward and it did the same thing 3 more times. i had slowed my speed to 40 mph but the engine sounded like i was going too fast for the gear i was in so slowed down even more....put my flashers on and crept home. since it is after hours i must wait until tomorrow to contact the dealership. however i have found that many people have had the same problem with honda accords. *tr
We have a 2003 honda accord ex v6 automatic. while accelerating at low speeds, car lurches violently. it appears to occur when shifting gears. this has been very alarming, especially with two young children in the car. also, the car does not go into reverse sometimes, unless turning the engine off and on again. *js
The car after being driven to work by my wife would hesitate going into gear. after speaking to the honda dealership, and honda america we were told it to far out of warranty to be covered. we have owned several honda cars and now we are told they will not cover any of the costs involved. i thought honda was better than this. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. the contact stated that when the air condition or heater was being used and the engine was shut off, it would become hesitant to restart. the contact would have to allow the vehicle to sit for several hours before the engine could be restarted. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic several times for the failure. a diagnostic was performed that was unable to locate a failure. the vehicle was also test driven however, the failure could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired the failure mileage was 97,000 and the current mileage was 100,000.

I have a 2003 honda accord ex v6. about two months ago i started feeling the car wasn't feeling right. as i was driving, it felt like the gear shift had been knocked down in to neutral, but was still actually still in drive. when this happened, the rpm's would go up and the car felt like it wasn't going anywhere, just coasting, then it seemed to just jolt back to where it should be. the problem wasn't happening every time i drove, but recently it started happening more often and for longer periods of time. i take the car to one place to have all my work done on it, so i took it there, but they felt the problem might be internal and recommended i take it to a transmission shop. they did diagnostics on the car and drove it. the result, the car is going into transmission failure. the transmission fluid is black and burned and has debris in it, and they said that the clutches are also burned. they won't know the complete picture until they take the transmission apart and get a good look. it is 5 days before christmas, i don't have the money to fix it or we will not have any christmas and now i have no transportation to do anything! soooo frustrated. i thought honda's were suppose to be such good cars, but i have had nothing but problems with this one. it doesn't seem like a transmission should go out at 113,000 miles and i have had so many people say the same thing. now that my transmission is going out, i read up on it and find out there was a recall in 2004 for the 2003 honda accords. why, am i just finding out about this?? *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph the contact smelled sulfur inside the vehicle. the contact stated that he believed the smell was emitting from the catalytic converter. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated the smell was normal. the contact continued to driver the vehicle with the sulfur smell since no remedy was provided but the smell was becoming too harsh to drive the vehicle. the failure mileage was 60,000.
