To whom it may concern, through this letter, i wish to inform you of my disagreement with the evaluation of the air bags in my 2000 honda accord. i was involved in an accident and the air bags did not deploy to protect me. when i addressed my concern to the dalton agency, i was informed that the service manager, manuel pez navarro and the head of mechanics, jorge cardenas only do oil change and filters. they advised if i wanted to know why the air bags did not function correctly, that i should pay a technician $600.00 pesos to connect a scanner to my car to see if there is an error in the system, an error that may have been there from the beginning when the car was assembled. please understand that the factory invoice for my auto specifies that it has air bags at the highest security level. that is why i?ve taken my car to be service regularly at the dalton agency to keep all warranties in place. i placed my trust in the agency, in the honda company and in the global brand and feel that i have been misled about service and quality. i am totally disappointed by the lack of concern from individual lives. the trauma, injury and rehabilitation after the accident has been terrible, least having to deal with you has caused unnecessary frustration and fear. knowing that the air bag situation has been called a simple mistake or accident does not help my dilemma. luckily i am alive today, but a few centimeters could have made a big difference and caused a tragic story. what has happened to me could have happen to anyone else, especially someone having a hard time in life. please consider taking responsibility and do the ?right thing?. i?m attaching pictures and copies of all documents for your review and providing the following information: license plate #: 124-ppu service history: 2001 ? present service agency: honda dalton polanco de mxico, d.f.

I bought a honda accord with 162,000 miles on it and was told all it needed was brakes and rotors. when i was replacing the brakes and rotor on the front passenger side of the vehicle i inspected all other parts as well and that's when i noticed the big problem. the sub frame was rotted out. i did some research online and found that this is a common problem with this year and that honda recognizes this but fails to do anything about it. the air condition drain is positioned so that it is constantly dripping on to that part of the sub frame. this is a major safety issue and i was advised not to drive the vehicle until i had the part replaced. i researched the price and labor for the part : part: $600+ honda garage. labor: $500+ honda garage. honda needs to take responsibility for this as other honorable companies have. *tr

This is a report of an incident of unintended acceleration of a motor vehicle which is related to an accident which occurred on march 9, 2011. the vehicle involved is a 2000 honda accord se. the driver was reversing out of a parking space when the engine revved up and the car started to move backward very fast. the driver stepped on the brake and tried to put the vehicle in neutral but the vehicle went into drive and lurched forward at a very high rate of speed uncontrollably across the sidewalk, three(3) lanes of traffic, through a lawn where it first struck a brick building, removed a 30-inch landscape boulder, and then struck a second building which stopped it, traveling over 200 feet before coming to a halt in a public alley. all of this happened in only a few seconds and the driver could not stop the vehicle because the brakes did not help. it was a miracle that the driver was not hit or killed going across the highway. it is very important that this incident be investigated

Tl* the contact owns a 2000 honda accord. the contact was driving approximately 40 mph and approaching a traffic stop signal and when the brake pedal was applied with very little response. after forcefully engaging the brakes to the floor repeatedly, the vehicle came to a stop. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and inspected. the contact was unable to detect the problem and resumed with caution. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and they informed the contact that the brake lines were faulty and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 157,395.

At 3 pm i drove down to pick up mail (from car window) at the end of pipestem. backed up turning right to make u turn for return. straightened wheels and started forward to begin left turn on narrow road, a maneuver i have performed dozens of times. car accelerated despite immediate braking and ran off embankment into woods. unable to stop i deliberately hit a tree to avoid driving into pond. triple a pulled the car out of the woods and craftsman auto body of chantilly (va) did the repairs. i assumed it had been a glitch in the accelerator but could not prove it. i now practice throwing the car into neutral from time to time in case it happens again. recent newspaper reports of similar cases induced me to make this report. *tr

I bought my honda accord this september. it had a rebuilt title due to minor dents and blemishes to the outside. no major wrecks. looked and seemed in good condition. dealer assured me that all of his cars were insurance claims due to minor exterior wear. he didn't take any cars that had been involved in wrecks. he was an "engineer" and didn't need to screw people over for money. i had my mechanic inspect it right away because it had a 30 day return policy, no questions asked. my regular mechanic said the engine was fine but there were minor things i needed such as; new rotors, new tires, and something to do with the emergency brake. his secretary said these were all optional things to have fixed. 1 month later...the radiator goes bad and must be replaced. my regular mechanic charges me $600.00 dollars for the procedure. i compare prices and find a better price for the same radiator. unfortunately, my regular mechanic still charges me $70.00 for his opinion. i go to the cheaper place, get a new radiator and have my rotors replaced. since about 2 weeks after owning the car i notice that the srs airbag light flashes on and off randomly. a $80.00 diagnostic check was performed and nothing showed up. my mechanic didn't notice it when he drove it. i still don't know if my airbags work! a month after that..transmission goes bad when in reverse. makes a terrible grinding of metal sound and lurches when put in reverse. probably needs a new transmission which i have no way to pay for. luckily, it is only a problem during the cold and/or when i first start the engine. im very worried about the safety of my car and myself! because i've had 3 different people assure me the car is in good shape, only to find out about or have a major problem occur. i don't feel safe in my mystery car! i bought a honda after being a loyal toyota customer because i thought they had the best reputation for long lasting vehicles. i'm thinking i made a mistake. please help lessen my worries. *tr

I purchased a 2000 honda accord used in 2003. it had approx 14,000 miles. at 30,000 i had to turn the rotors. i was told it was my driving habits that caused it. i am 54 yrs old and have owned numerous vehicles in my lifetime and have never had to turn rotors until near 60,000. i again was told the rotors were warped at 45,000 and they turned them again. i now have 54,000 miles on the vehicle and the front end is shaking again when i drive and brake normally at 60 miles an hour. i'm going to take the car back to honda again. if my rotors need replacing then i plan to ask for my parts back so i can show nys dept of motor vehicles and attorney general's office. i have read numerous complaints on honda brakes and i can't find any technical service bulletin or recalls for my model and year. unbelievable. i want nhtsa to look into this. i recently got a class action suit letter regarding the transmission - they are extending my warranty 9 months - big deal. the attorneys get rich and if my transmission goes after the extra 9 months then i pay. *jb

My 2000 honda accord lx (srs light remain on). gas pedal get stuck, rotor and drum was bended. *nm

Bought car 12-31-1999. in 2001, significant "warbling"/shaking of steering column when braking, at higher speeds, to the point stopping was becoming precarious. dealer said rotors had warped, most likely because i hit the brakes hard during wet conditions, getting rotors wet, and causing the warping. rotors were turned. "pulsing" of brakes started again in near future; dealer said they fixed at no charge when doing routine maintenance. problem recurred again. dealer said couldn't turn rotors again, and needed to replace them and pads (july 2004). i complained; mechanic acknowledged when asked directly that he had seen more problems with this year/model of honda. i paid for replacement. again, november, 2004 pulsing started. dealer did break inspection (for $19.95); it was obvious they were familiar with the issue - they acknowledged the warping was recurring - on the replacement rotor. i disclosed finding other complaints on nhtsa web site; service manager asked if i had talked to honda - if honda agreed to cover it, they could do the work. problem is, cover what? the problem appears to be related to this specific braking system. this car is the 6th honda my spouse and i have purchased. unfortunately, it may well be the last. *ak

Consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. a loud noise was heard coming from the front. consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the brakes pads and rotors needed to be replaced. *ak

While applying the brake pedal vehicle jerked and vibrated. consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. mechanic could not duplicate the problem. *ak

Front disc rotors continue to re-warp and need turning, despite careful driving practices and no sudden stops and no riding of brakes. vibration makes vehicle hard to control during normal stops. dealer denies there is any problem.

While driving 60 mph driver applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. this caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and hit the vehicle in front. upon impact, air bags did not deploy. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. *ak

Brakes - i took my car into lia honda in albany in april 2004 for my nys inspection and 30,000 mile service. i was told that i needed rotors turned. i was very surprised that i needed rotors turned at 29,000 miles. perhaps this is normal but previously i owned a nissan and i did not have to do any brake work until 50,000 miles. i wanted to report this in case there were any other owners of honda accords with this problem. i wonder if they use a cheaper quality brake parts than nissan. *ak

Vehicle was taken to the dealer for a routine inspection, and mechanic determined that the rotors needed to be replaced due to worn out parts. *ak

While applying the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop completely. the driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection. the mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem at this time. please provide further details. *jb

While pulling out of the driveway consumer applied the brakes and they were not working. this happened twice in the last month. vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the consumer that the vehicle needed to be warmed up before applying the brakes. *ak

Disc brake rotors warped. dealer turned them but they continue to re-warp. dealer denied presence of problem and blamed the problem on ecessive driving. *ak

Consumer stated the gas pedal and brake pedal were designed too close together. *ak the consumer had been in the position where he had to make a panic stop. when this happened, his knees hit the steering wheel to prevent a raised pedal. dealer stated the interior was redesigned to accommodate shorter people whom wanted minimum time going from the brake to the pedal and vice versa. *ph *jb

Repetitive warping of front disk brakes on a 2000 honda accord ex v6.causes dificulty to stop safely.have heard of other accords with the same problem.*ak

The brake pedal is soft and when i apply the brakes i depress the accelerator at the same time causing the vehicle to continue to move against the brake. the brake pedal should not depress low enough to depress the accelerator

Dt: the tranmission will shift gears very losely and makes a clunking sound but only when it is in reverse. now it shifts slugishly. took dealer to the dealer twice and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. now they think it is the motor mounts. the first time this happened was in october of 2002. *ak dash board lighting goes blank. a faulty multiflex light unit was found. front brakes worn. check engine light was on. found faulty egr valve assembly and replaced. srs light is on. faulty opds unit was found. *tt

After 2 years owning the vehicle when it was driven for about 17k miles front brake pads had worn completely and had been replaced by a mechanic. after replacement when odometer showed 19.5k miles brakes have been overheating extremely and later brake pedal during usage started to exhibit heavy pulsations. car has been taken to the mechanic that replaced pads with honda brand pads and discs have been resurfaced. at 25k miles vehicle pedal pulsations came back, rotors metal turned blue and overheating was bad. i understand that it is a brake design problem and decided to investigate on my own. i have a mechanical engineering master degree. at about 40k miles i made rotor replacement and oiled caliper bolts. also, i investigated how toyota brakes of similar car size never got so hot and found one construction element that different between honda accord 2000 brakes and toyota camry brakes. toyota brakes use v shape return springs on a brake pads and brake pads have holes in them to accept end points of these v springs. i drilled holes in honda brake pads using toyota camry brake pads as a reference. also, bent v shape return springs from piano string 1.2 mm (bought in ace hardware) and installed the same way as on toyota. rotors have been replaced at 40k miles. currently car has 127k miles and same rotors as i put in 2004. i managed to get 35-45k between pads replacements after this modification and overheating of rotors has stopped. whoever interested in fixing this honda brake design problem make sure to oil caliper pins and caliper side contact elements of brake pads during replacement with high temperature graphite grease. this is more important then resurfacing your rotors! use toyota camry brake pads and v springs as reference or just buy v springs designed for camry (brake repair kit). this will solve all overheating and disk wobbling forever. *tr

While driving/braking, and when releasing brakes car rolls back . vehicle has automactic transmission.*ak

The accelerator stuck and i applied the brakes but the car continued to go faster. the car continued to gain speed which resulted with the right side of the car going in the ditch. this caused the car to airborne. when the car landed it continued to plow forward for another 20 feet or so before stopping two feet from another ditch. i was applying the brakes the entire time with no results. both of the air bags deployed which caused injury to my hand and arm.*ak

Vehicle accelerated suddenly while the brakes were applied, resulting in a collision. dealer has inspected vehicle, and could not duplicate or correct the problem. *ak *slc

The front and rear brakes are starting to wear prematurely and make noise due to a new design, both rear wheel cylinders are leaking. nlm

When brake pedal was applied it went to floor. then hit two curbs, and some bushes before coming to a stop. when vehicle was inspected by dealer, they replaced master cylinder. *ak consumer states abs makes loud noise when starting up and steering wheel grabs to the left, consumer also states that the brake pedal is low and mushy. *slc

Was traveling about 65mph on highway and another vehicle jumped in front of consumer's vehicle. he applied brakes and dual airbags didn't go off.*ak

Design flaw caused both accelerator and brake pedals to be too close; intermittently causing problem when applying brakes and accelerator pedals at the same time. dealer notified. *ak

Disc brake rotors warped. dealer turned them but they continue to re-warp. dealer denied presence of problem on second visit without a visual inspection. *ak

At 7000 miles brake light came on. took to dealer, replaced brake pads. at 13000 miles light came on again, dealer informed consumer front and rear brake pads needed to be replaced. *ak
