We have classified the 9 complaints from 1999 Honda Accord about EXTERIOR LIGHTING into the following categories.
1) honda ignition switch: four times between end november and first wk of december: vehicle suddenly stalled while driving in city streets - so dangerous! i have to turn engine off and restart it. need to wiggle ignition key to start engine. 2) -interior lighting does not work when opening doors. -light on clock does not work -panel light ok
Takata recall i had problems with getting the key to turn in the ignition. it eventually failed. i was informed by a professional that it was the key. i had the key replaced. honda tried to charge me for the key knowing that there was a recall. too, my headlights have always been very dimmed. i have bought several replacements. they still appear very dim.
I have a 1999 honda accord and i jus paid to get front headlight wire replaced because i could not use low beam lights only high beam. light is working now but there is a suspension and/or electrical problem i need to check. the heat/air doesnot come on? is this car safe to drive?
Driving 55mph on expressway at 8:30 pm, not well lit. deer ran out in front of me, pulled over. front of car smooshed, and air bags did not deploy. *js
My 16 year old daughter was coming home from school in the rain and was unable to stop in time to keep from rear ending another vehicle. our car sustained extreme front end damage. fortunately there were no injuries but the air bags did not deploy. the entire front end is crumpled and still the air bags did not deploy. i thought my daughter was driving a safe car. *tr
The car cuts off at any giving time the lights are dim and the electrical is malfuntioning. *tr
All dash lights go out on my 1999 honda accord when the headlights are turned on. a safety recall was done for this problem caused by a defected multiplex control unit on the honda accord years 2000 to 2004. why are older accords not covered under this recall since the same defective part was installed on them?*tr
Tl*- the contact owns a 1999 honda accord. the right headlight was brighter than the left headlight. the contact stated that the plastic covering over the headlight was shaded with a yellow film over it, which caused the left headlight to appear dim. the vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. the current and failure mileage were 80,000. *ak
While driving at night exterior lighting failed to work. dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. *ak the consumer stated that in a prior service bulletin by honda these components are all linked to a faulty multipexor switch ( service bulletin #00-07c). in talking to honda the consumer was told the service bulletin was pertaining to exports. the consumer agreed to pay for the service to be done now the lights stay on all the time now. problem still exists. *tc
1999 honda accord ex coupe v6 (california) engine stalls immediately when blinker/signal lever is used, for left or right turn signal. when engine stalls, green "key" light flashes on dashboard. otherwise, failure happens randomly. failure has occurred both while driving at 60+ mph and while vehicle is stopped. at high speeds, engine stalls and then restarts in a few seconds. has not occurred when engine was cold/not-warmed-up. failure occurred about once a month at first, but in the last three months, averages about one failure a week. failure started happening at around 70,000 miles. car now has ~92,000 miles. car has had one owner since purchased new. car recieves regular scheduled maintenance. car had complete tune-up (oil/filter,spark plugs, ignition cap & rotor, ignition wires, transmission fluid (honda), air filter, fuel system cleaner, etc...) after first failure. alternator failed and was replaced many months after "stalling/blinker" failures first occurred, and had no apparent affect on stalling problem. stalling still occurs, and have no idea what cause is.
My 1999 honda accord's low-beam headlights quit working without notice. i will be driving and then they will just turn off. i have checked the bulbs, and the bulbs are still new. i have bought many sets of bulbs, and the problem persists. i have heard of similar problems japaneese made accords, and american civics. my accord was manufactured in japan.
Brake switch inop. the brake switch goes out requiring the manual over-ride to switch the car out of park. the problem is when the switch goes out, all of the brake lights are inoperable. this has happened three times in the last year and a half. we have owned our 1999 honda accord ex since it was new and we are now going on our fourth brake switch. this last occurence it appears to be intermitent. so i do not know for how long we have been driving with rear brake lights not working every time we use our brakes. the mileage and dates of replacement are as follows: nov 2001 34,000 miles may 2002 40,000 miles feb 2003 53,865 miles
Vehiicle hesistated when acclerating and it stalled. this condition almost caused a crash, which could have been fatal. vehicle has been checked for trouble over 3 or 4 times in the last 6 months. dealership has been unable to correct this problem. *ak vehicle has stalled at four occasions when trying to pull into traffic or accelerate. brake rotors were warpped and rear drum were scored prematurely. clincking noise in the steering column due to combo switch failure. driver seat belt squeake when leaning forward or backward due to retracter failure. *yh
Left turn signal intermittently fails to cancel. visual distortion in windshield
Turn signal fails to self cancel on left turns sometimes, dealer claims this is normal: unibody so out of alignment that doors (4) do not fit properly, wind and road noise present constantly, dealer and manufacturer contacted twice, more damage done to vehicle by dealer attempting repairs. *ak
