Problems with 1998 Honda Accord STRUCTURE

Dt: the caller said the front cradle assembly was rusted. she said when she turned the steering wheel to the left it made a popping noise. part was replaced. dealer still has the part. dealer said nothing else was rusted, and they said they could not find the part easy because that part did not go bad that often. manufacturer has not been contacted yet. the caller wanted to call nhtsa to let them know about the rusted part.*ak *nm

Consumer states roof leaks when it rains. she does not think dealer will take care of it because the warranty doesn't cover it. consumer received a recall notice for ignition switch.*ak

When opening the driver's side door the consumer cut his finger. the dealer was notified. *ak *nm

I have a 1998 hunter green honda accord ex and the paint is fading on the top of the car. is this a factory defect because i have seen several hunter green accords with its paint fading in the same area as mine or either on the trunk. *la

I purchased a 98 honda accord in october of 2001. it has been in the shop approximately eight times since it was purchased for numerous problems. the brakes had to be replaced about four months after buying the car. the paint has faded on the roof and is now fading on the trunk lid. the key has gotten stuck in the ignition twice and would not come out until the next day. the gas pedal has gotten stuck after cranking the car and pedal had to be "punched" to get it to accelerate. the cd player has been replaced. the doors would not lock using keyless entry or manually and the door accuator was replaced. the keyless entry has also been replaced. these are some of the things that are going on. currently, the back window is vibrating and it is unclear whether it is loose or not. i do feel this is a lemon.

Automatic door locks fail to lock automatically. consumer manually locks each door instead of one door locking all. consumer has yet to contact dealer. *ak power windows inoperable,only the driver side front would work. *slc

There is a leak in the trunk area. when it is raining, water drips from the area near the rear speakers, onto the trunk floor. i first noticed this problem a few years ago, but it seems to have gotten worse recently (this may be due to the car no longer being parked in the garage).*ak

Clearcoat and paint faded on roof. dealer had repainted. 6 months later same thing happened to trunk. dealer had repainted again. a few months later clearcoat was coming off the doors. dealer refused to repaint. said this has never happened before. *jb

Passenger door failure.

During a recent oil change and vehicle inspection, the honda dealer found that the right front sub-frame had rusted through. the driver side had no signs of rust damage. the technician judged the car as unsafe to drive since total failure of the frame could occur at anytime. the technician said he had previously seen this failure on the 1998 accord lx sedans. the estimated repair cost is $2,200.00. *tr

Interior of vehicle was damaged when delivered from factory (two door panels and back seat covers).

On two occasions the driver's side door was "adjusted" by the dealer for being hard to open. *yc
