Takata recall? i bought this vehicle from my co worker which stated these issues were already happening for months, firstly the cluster clusters instrument gages do not work (replaced them and nothing happens) , only the gage lights turn on. these include the gas gage, rpm, speedometer, temp. which is another issue, the electrical issues even though you try to brighten the lights with the dim knob they are hardly brightened its hard to see the clock time or any thing that lights up to help see at night, the interior lights dont work, the horn doesnt work, cruise control doesnt work. as if all these are tied together thru the electrical wiring. (checked all fuses and replaced most) my wind shield leaks in the top corners, the trunk fills with water everyone it rains due to a leak. defects in the sealing my rear view mirror fell off on my way to work today as well which caused the windshield to crack around where the mirror was. the hood latch is hard to close, i have to use pliers to push down the latch before shutting hood, (this is another part i replaced with the same factory part number) it looks to be the spring. ball joints i am guessing... when barely turning the wheel either way you hear a grinding noise like metal against metal. its a scary sound when making turns not sure if the wheel is you g to break off while making the turn a costly issue daily i have to add oil to the vehicle the oil pump gasket seal leaks every time the engine is running. exterior issue the paint looks horrible due to the top clear coat peeling. now after researching, i realize i'm not the only one who has these issues. please get these issues fixed
My honda was sold to me with no rear seat belts, and the horn when hooked up defaults the brake lights.
The front seat belts don't lock into buckle. the rear seat belts have no buckle's. driver steering wheel air bag is compromised.
Takata recall i took my car for inspection and it says safety/emissions recall. i wanted to get it fixed but they told me that i would have to take it to a honda dealer. ivoq n n n n v n n
Vehicle shuts off while driving. almost got into an accident. will restart after a few minutes.
I bought this 1998 honda accord and i want to know why my car vin number is not in the recalls for this no warning cutting off while driving and its very dangerous to drive it and sometimes it takes a long time to start up and then continue to cut off i have replaced fuel pump distributor full tuneup and next my ignition coil which is a recall for my year honda accord and this cut off problem should be taken care of for my safety because i own this vehicle and would appreciate your support and concern of the recalls on my car please. when i first bought the car the next day i was on the freeway and the car just cut off and i didn't even know it was off until i realize i was slowing down and steering got hard and traffic was yelling at me from their vehicles and i was scared pulling over to the side of freeway.and as of today it does it more frequently and take longer to start back up than it did when i first got the car so i think it is unfair that my vin number for this can't be taken care of under this unsafe recall that my car is included in onthis recall please help me understand why im not included and that's not ok.
Car randomly stalls or locks up when driving, able to pull over and restart it just fine
The car just shuts wherever you are, in the middle of the highway. it happened numerous times. sometimes it wouldn't start. but my daughter was driving the car and it shut off in the middle of the highway. she was very lucky that an accident didn't occur. this part (ignition switch has be on recall) for the 98 accord but not my particular vin# which i think is ridiculous. why would it be on 98 accords and beyond but not this particular vin and we had the same issue as the others.
Transmission goes out on all of the honda brand vehicle. this is very scary and not safe to drive. i was on the highway getting off my exit and crashed because of their faulty transmissions. i looked up what was going with my car and their was several complaints about theses cars. this needs to be a recalled!!!!!!
Vehicle inspected by mechanic who determined that the passenger side of the engine cradle is corroded and will need replacement. subsequent internet search indicates that this is a common issue prior to a design change in the 2003 model year. spoke with manufacturer customer service rep (csr) who claimed that they have no record of ever having received a complaint about this issue, though nhtsa complaint ids 10668618, 10632816 and many others indicate that manufacturer was made aware of the issue. csr stated repeatedly "there is nothing we (honda) can do", but on further questioning agreed that it was more accurate to state "we [honda] will not do anything about this". as honda claims to not be receiving these complaints, a copy of this is being sent usps priority mail with tracking to ensure that they are aware that complaints about this issue are being lodged. tracking #9505 5000 0753 5133 0002 72

On my way to work i was driving at 45mph and the car began to slow down and shut off in the middle of traffic. i noticed as it slowed down the ignition key light was flashed. five mins later the car came back on and i took it to several auto shops and they couldn't determine what was wrong with my car. for a month this problem seemed to stop all together. recently it did this stopping while i was driving on the highway but didn't come back on. i had the car towed to goodyear vespia auto shop. here they determined that something might be wrong with the car's computer. during a test drive the car shut off on the mechanic he place the code indicator to determine what was wrong with the car and here he discovered that car's computer was dead again he waiting 10mins and the car came back on without any indication for its shutting off. *js
When i stop or slow down the car shuts off. i have no steering and no brakes and no hazard lights. car shuts down while driving. *tt
Inoperable back door locks. been grocery shopping and got home to unload groceries and couldn't open back doors outside or inside. car was stationary.
Tl*the contact owns a 1998 honda accord. the contact stated that there is a recall on the 2002-2003 accords. once the key is removed from the ignition, the vehicle rolls away. the failure has occurred for the past ten years. the dealer could not find any failures with the vehicle. the failure mileage was 115,000.
Accord automatic transmission 68,000 miles the date i listed was the date i took it to a body shop for repair. i believe i began noticing it at least a year before but didn't have money to do anything about it then. (on ssd) the roof, trunk, l panel r & l lens & housing, rear bumper had to be repainted/repaired. it started before that particular date. it began with white spots that started peeling and it spread like wildfire. could not afford a new car and since the mileage was low and i need a car i decided to have it repaired. it runs good, but looked terrible!! the money i spent was an extreme burden on me. i am on a fixed low income. i read here that in '98 they changed the painting process.now i discover many complaints witht same problem on newer years. they apparently started a faulty paint procedure and still use it and are ripping people off. i know cars, no garage, with no peeling, etc. now less than a year later: there are white spots showing through where it was not painted, r front and rear panel!!!!! honda should, at the very least reimburse for what i spent and fix the current problem at no charge. when i mentioned it to honda they just said they didn't do that type of work. at the time i was not aware (but they probably were) that this is a widespread known problem!! anyway, honda should be sued! . i've already had people thank me for telling them about this saying they won't buy a honda!! *tr
Follow-up to previous complaint. had catylitic converter replaced after check engine light problems, light came back on after only 30 miles with different error code. i wonder how long honda will let this problem go with out recognizing there is a obd computer problem! if this is not fixed soon i will never buy another honda.
Faulty sealant on black accord. premature degradation. began in small area on roof. not too bad at first. over past winter, sealant breaking down in about 15 places. car has been garaged and not subject to automatic car wash (unless that is what local honda dealer uses). considerable devaluation of vehicle advertised as holding its value. *jb
Tl*the contact owns a 1998 honda accord. the contact stated that the paint is eroding from her vehicle. she called the dealer (american honda) and sent pictures, but they stated that the failure was due to the weather and acid rain. her insurance stated that nothing could be done because of the vehicle's age. the claim adjuster stated that the vehicle's paint did not have enough clear coat finish. the engine size is not available. the current mileage is 176,000 and failure mileage was 100,000.
Alternator died, with only warning was abs light on, could not even make it to the shop 10 miles away. car died completely. i was told that honda should have recalled these alternators for the 1999 and 1998 models.
This is my mothers car (1998 honda accord ex-vl) which was totaled in an accident due to a sudden unintended acceleration.my wife was the first owner of the vehicle and my mother has had the car for about 2 years. she had stopped, put the car into park, got out to open a parking lot gate, got back in, stepped on the brake, and shifted the car into gear. it immediately went into a high rev and accelerated uncontrollably resulting in the car smashing into a wall about 60' away. luckily the air bags worked and neither her or my step father were seriously hurt. her foot was definitely on the brake pedal as there is a lockout mechanism that prevents the car from being taken out of park if the brake pedal is not pushed. this may or may not be related, but she was having difficulty getting the handle to move. the problem with it not moving had occurred previously, usually on a slight incline, but the honda dealer looked at it and told her nothing was wrong. my mother is a retired bus driver with a perfect driving record, no accidents, and only uses one foot to control the vehicle.
I purchased a 98 honda accord in october of 2001. it has been in the shop approximately eight times since it was purchased for numerous problems. the brakes had to be replaced about four months after buying the car. the paint has faded on the roof and is now fading on the trunk lid. the key has gotten stuck in the ignition twice and would not come out until the next day. the gas pedal has gotten stuck after cranking the car and pedal had to be "punched" to get it to accelerate. the cd player has been replaced. the doors would not lock using keyless entry or manually and the door accuator was replaced. the keyless entry has also been replaced. these are some of the things that are going on. currently, the back window is vibrating and it is unclear whether it is loose or not. i do feel this is a lemon.

The engine completely blew out one day. i was on the way to work and there was an explosion under my hood. honda put in a re-built engine and i have had nothing but problems since then. a few months later...the paint gradually started to fade away on the roof. it has only gotten worse and will get much worse. it is a 1998 honda!! this stuff shouldn't be happening!
Problems began when i took my 1998 accord ex in to have the 30,000 mile service. i was told that the brake pads needed to be replaced. i had them replaced and went in for another major service check a year later and was told the car needed new brake pads again, that's only 18,000 miles later. the honda dealership mechanic told me replacing the pads every 20,000 miles is not uncommon for these cars. i, then, took the car to a non-honda repair shop who replaced the pads and guaranteed them for 48,000 miles. when i took the car in for the second major service check my car horn was working. after leaving honda's service shop the horn has not worked properly again. when i turn the engine on the horn turns off. as long as the engine's off the horn works without a problem. i took it back to honda who told me that the problem is probably related to a cable in the steering column and would cost me over $200 to repair. they also told me that it could be the key switch and there has been a recall on the switch but my car was not included. again they estimate $200 to repair. this car has not had excessive wear, it is a 1998 and has less than 48,000 miles on it today. i have no confidence in what they are telling me and am very displeased with my honda and the service that i am getting.
Engine check light stays on after having recall done for egr valve. consumer has taken vehicle into repair shop, and diagnostic reading showed no problem. consumer has been advised to please attach a copy of recall information with complaint form.*ak
Engine check light continues to come on at more frequency than it should (7 times ) for emisssion failure. *ak
In july 1998, i purchased a 1998 honda accord v6 ex. in february 2000 the first problem with the engine check and egr defect occurred. the problem was resolved with the replacement of the intake manifold and repositioning of the pcv valve and hose in accordance with honda recall instructions and resetting the "check engine" light indicator at no cost to me. service occurred at dealer. in april 2000, the second problem with the egr valve as manifested by the "check engine" light occurred. the problem was resolved by replacement of the pcv hose in accordance with honda recall instructions and resetting the "check engine" light indicator at no cost to me. service occurred at dealer. in october 2000, the third occurrence of the egr valve failure occurred. this problem was resolved by cleaning the egr port and valve. this was performed at a cost of $66 plus tax. service occurred at dealer. in january 2001, a related occurrence of the egr problem occurred with an idle air controller (iac) motor failing. the egr port and valve were not checked, however the symptoms of the problem were resolved by replacement of the iac motor and clearing of the check engine light indicator. this resulted in a cost to me of $226.69. service occurred at dealer. in november 2001, i was sent a notice by american honda concerning the egr failures and extending the warranty to 80,000 miles. service occurred at dealer. in may 2002, the fourth egr problem occurred with the check engine light indicating a problem. the problem was diagnosed to be the egr valve failure and the catalytic converter failure. this repair has been estimated to be $800.00. honda?s district service manager has denied the claim, since the failure occurred at 81,000 miles, it has been considered to be out-of-warranty by honda and therefore repairs would be at my cost. service occurred at dealer in tucson, az. as a further point, honda has denied all claims for work done under warranty. *ak
In january 2000, i took my honda in to the tricket dealership to have a sticking gas pedal repaired. the mileage at that time was 35, 187. the pedal would stick and require a hard punch with the foot to come loose. the dealer cleaned the throttle and told me it was caused by a honda floor mat. this resolved the problem at that time. i removed the floor mat. on january 16, 2002 i took the honda into the same dealership and reported my gas pedal was sticking again even though i used no floor mat on the driver's side. the dealership cleaned the throttle again with a charge to me of $35.18 which seemed to take care of the problem. when i asked why this element had failed twice, at first i was told it was bad gas, then the dealership admitted 98-99 honda accords had recurring problems with the gas pedal sticking. the dealership told me this was not dangerous because the gas pedal did not normally stick wide open. i guess dangerous is a matter of opinion. a gas pedal stuck half way down could potentially cause an accident. when i called the national honda customer service, i was told to get the throttle cleaned as part of my normal maintenance. i would like to know if other honda owners are experiencing this dilemma. it appears to me to be an obvious design flaw and honda should be correcting it. i am also concerned about later model honda accords. i certainly don't want to purchase a new problem. any assistance you could provide would be appreciated. by the way, my honda is a "lx" model.*ak
Vehicle accelerates uncontrollably; consumer pulled into driveway, had foot on brakes, and vehicle accelerated on its own. driver had to swerve into a field. sometimes had to put in neutral to slow vehicle down. contacted dealer, and dealer stated it could be the floor mats. please add vin #. *ak
Engine check light will show up at all time on the dashboard, and light will stay on for long time. *ak
Floor mat rolls up under the brake pedal and accelerator. consumer has not contacted dealer. *ak
