Brake lights stopped working almost was plowed into by 18 wheeler on i-75. driver waved us over and informed us that he did not see us till right on top of us. problem appears to be systemic enough that the gmc service department told us that it was common enough that they kept the brake lights in stock. additionally there are numerous threads about this issue on the internet and even utube videos on where to remove material to access the offending circuit board to repair the known faulty circuit. the failure of these brake lights could have cost my family and me our lives. the dealership wanted to charge 1600$ to replace the brake lights. i reiterate the brake light failure is common enough that there are numerous threads on the internet to discuss the known weakness of the circuit board
This can be researched by hundreds of videos on youtube. poor design causes the metal to break inside the led rear tail lights which makes them inoperable. these are unsafe when these go out and it is very common. general motors does warranty their lights nor is there a recall.this is a costly repair and a safety issue
Brake light on vehicle works intermittently and is no longer safe. this is a problem gmc is well aware of and no solution in sight. cheap metal board brakes inside the lens and leaves you with no brake light. i do not want my family to be rear ended because of this professional grade? brake light failure, at any time on road.this is a 2016 gmc yukon with 22710 miles as i write. brake light has failed while moving on the city streets. this failure is currently on the passenger side brake light. trying to make appointment for repair of this professional grade brake light? before the other one brakes and put my family at risk of a accident.
Brake and taillight are going on and off intermittently. i can hit the side of the taillight and it will blink on and off sometimes. looked up online and found it is a well known issue that gmc will not fix. this is a safety hazard.
Brake lights are shorting out causing them to work intermittently. circuit is broken inside the sealed portion of the light preventing repair.
Rear led taillight went out our only 3 year old 2016 gmc denali. this effects the stop, tail, and turn lights. these led lights are not repairable and the whole assembly has to be replaced. gm charges an astronomical price of around $700 for each side. it is very hard to find any used ones and according to part dealers gm has a 'bounty' on any used ones to turn back in. obviously gm is aware of this problem and needs to address it as not only as good customer relations but it's really a safety issue as well.
The tail light stopped working and cannot change out the led bulbs, it is a break some where the the wiring.
2016 gmc yukon tail light not working. started not working for a day or two and then worked again and then quit completely.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon. the contact stated that he was pulled over by the police for a tail light failure. the contact scheduled an appointment with carmax (916-782-2404, located at 1450 eureka rd, roseville, ca 95661) to replace the tail light. the contact stated that it was a known issue that the led light bulb in the tail light assembly could not be replaced without replacing the entire tail light assembly. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 29,400.
My tail light is out only on the brake part the dealers said i have to replace the hole light ive had my car no more than 2 years running well just the light problem the dealer said it happens alot but it was not under warranty they want to charge 600 dlls i think they should fix their issue an not have people spending this much for something they know they should fix
Internal circuitry of passenger tail light cracked in multiple locations causing the led's that provide running and stop functions of the light to fail. the car was not wrecked or damaged in any way. appears as if metal fatigue from bumpy roads perhaps causes the circuitry to fail at at least 2 weak points in the metal circuit. the problem was pointed out by a trailing policeman while stopped at a red light, he kindly notified me that the entire light was out.
Left rear led brake/tail light went out at approximately 43,000 miles. in doing research this is a common problem in gmc yukon. it seems to be just after warranty expires as mine did. the cost to replace is anywhere around $800.00. i have no choice but to get it replaced as it is a safety issue. research also says these led's should be lasting much longer than they are on this make and model. i feel with the numbers so high gmc really needs to look into a recall and get this problem fixed or help compensate some of the cost. also, this part is not readily available so we go weeks with no brake or tail light until it can be repaired. this is so not safe!!
The led lights on the left rear tail light are defective. they flicker or do not work at all. the vehicle has less than 43,000 miles. to fix the issue requires replacing the entire tail light at a cost of more than $800. it should be a recall on a defective part.
Brake light/turn signal fail with no warning to driver. the failure requires replacement of the entire component. dealer quoted $826 to replace assembly. i understand that these have a very high failure rate. along with the lack of warning to the driver that their rear brake lights and turn signals are not working this is serious problem. the failure rate is so high that several independents are repairing them
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon. the contact stated that the passenger side brake light failed to illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to greiner buick gmc (14555 civic dr, victorville, ca 92394, (760) 245-3451) where the contact was informed that the tail and brake light assemblies needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 81,000.
Brake light stopped working but it cant be repaired unless you replace the entire light assembly. this is a very common problem. so much so, it is a 3 month wait to get it! not to mention it costs $500-800!! now i cant even drive the car because of the safety concern of someone rear ending me. gmc needs to recall these or pay the 3 month car rental fee.
Rear brake light led strip is out. vehicle only has 37k miles on it. dealership will not repair it but wants to sell a new brake assembly for $750 each. if you tap on the light assembly, it comes on momentary and goes out again. brake lights on both side of vehicle continue to flash rapidly, there has to be some type o ofelectrical problem to cause this issue,
Rear brake light on the drivers side was working intermittently and now will not work at all. i was not in an accident and no damage has occured to the part. it just stopped working. this is an led and is not supposed to go out according to gm. gm is aware of this issur and will not fix it.
My rear tail lights (both driver and passenger side) keep flickering and go out intermittently. they are led lights, not bulbs; therefore, they cant simply be replaced without incurring a cost of $800+ per light. the dealer claims there is no recall on the lights.
Led tail light assembly malfunction. unknown when issue started, but led lights should outlive useful life of the vehicle.
Was just told my right brake light is out. dealership said $700 to fix!! and they are out of stock. car is less then 3 years old. what in the world!!
The brake lights in the 2016 gmc yukon vehicle failed. the design requires a whole light assembly replacement. the dealer quoted $750 per light. the problem seems to be widespread and caused by faulty light assembly.
Rear brake light led strip is out. vehicle only has 37k miles on it. dealership will not repair it but wants to sell a new brake assembly for $750 each. if you tap on the light assembly, it comes on momentary and goes out again.
2016 gmc yukon has only 40k miles, yet brake lights on rear driver side are out. hundreds of complaints online re:same issue; cost to repair is $650-$800. this shouldn't be an issue with this age of the vehicle. concern is the passenger side will go out next and cost another $650-$800.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon. the contact stated that the passenger side brake light went out. the entire unit was replaced by an independent mechanic with manufacturer approved parts. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the failure mileage was 39,500. *bf *jb
Tail lights alternating not working. there seems to be some electrical issue with the led tail lights. this is a massive problem and all over the internet. gmc is charging $1000 per tail light to fix despite this being a defect. many companies and youtube videos popping about a bout this: http://www.ledfix.com/yukontaillightrepair.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnldjpymdzc
The rear tail/brake lights on the gmc yukon series have a defect that keep causing the running lights and brake lights to work intermittently. i had an entire new light installed and the same issue occurred within a few thousand miles. gmc is aware of this problem and has yet to issue a recall for these defective lights. obviously this is an important safety feature of the vehicle in order to alert other drivers of mere presence, braking, and turning actions.
The led tail lights go off and on and the only way to repair is to replace the whole unit
Right led brake light has stopped functioning. through online search engine, i've discovered that this is an increasingly frquent problem that gmc has refused to address.
Passenger side brake light not working. yukon has under 40,000 miles and is meticulously cared for. i have read many other complaints online and this seems to be a quality issue. there is no easy fix and a complete replacement is required. this is a safety issue given it is a brake light. brake lights should not malfunction in this manner. a recall is certainly in order as failure to signal braking can be a risk for myself as the driver and others.
My wife's 2016 gmc passenger tail light flickering working when it wants. truck has 50k never been in accident and we are the original owners.
Passenger side led brake light failed at 60000 miles. $800 dealer repair quote to replace. no manufacture support.
Right rear brake light assembly failed. it is a sealed assembly and cannot be repaired without breaking the sealed/sonic welded assembly. replacement assembly is $700+ dollars.
Rear tail light works intermittently causing a risk of being rear ended. through research this appears to be an issue with many vehicles of this make and model. gmc also charges an outrageous price for the replacement at $1000 from the dealer.
I drive 2016 gmc yukon, and the entire tail light on the passenger rear side has gone out on it. i read about several people with the same year and model truck having this issue. i feel like gmc should do a recall because my vehicle isn't three years old yet.
Drivers side tail light/brake started failing, only working intermittently while driving and while stopped. now only a small outer corner of the the light is working.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 gmc yukon. the contact stated that the brake lights and tail lights stopped working without warning. the vehicle was taken to alexander buick gmc of simi valley (2100 first st, simi valley, ca, (805) 582-6100) where it was diagnosed that the led console panel and bulbs needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000.
Left rear taillight is out. car has <40k miles and required a $675 part to fix
The rear tail light is not working properly. around december 17, 2018 i was driving my vehicle on the city street and highway when several people advise me my light was out and not working. i check it once arrived at home and it was working properly and didn't problem. and a week later same issue from people pulling me over to advise me my tail light was out. around january 10, 2019, i went in to hutchinson auto mall gmc dealer and they advise me everything is working properly and doesn't see a problem, and advise me to bring back should i experience the outage again. i inspect vehicle as well and seem no problem. 23 january 19 same problem and went back to dealer and they discover the outage and advise me the led tail light strip was out and need to replace the assembly. it appears their seem to be a wiring issue where the light is and out. to keep from a serious problem or fire. request immediately investigation. the technician also advise me this seems to be a common problem.
Read led brake lights are intermittently not working. because they are a sealed unit, cannot change the bulb, need to replace entire assembly. dealer is quoting $831 per assembly to replace, for a total of $1662. gm is refusing to address this safety concern because the car is just over 4k miles over warranty mileage. i have been notified by other drivers on the road that my brake lights are not working. this is an expensive repair just to "replace the bulbs". there are third party services that repair this common problem with these units: http://www.ledfix.com/yukontaillightrepair.html https://www.yukontaillightrepair.com/ other gmc owners with the same problem: https://www.carcomplaints.com/gmc/yukon/2015/lights/taillight_not_working_properly.shtml attached is a copy of my service invoice with the dealers quote. i have already contacted gm twice about this. the reference number for each call are 8-4782652601 and 9-4950899453. how is this issue not a recall? what needs to be done to get gm to replace these faulty tail light assemblies? thank you.
Led bulbs in brake lights work intermittently and eventually go out.
Rear tail light seems to work intermittent. when the temperature goes up it does not work, cool down it works. my yukon is only 2 years old, i thought led last longer, that is a big joke. to replace it at the dealers would be $803.00 for a tail light. that is highway robbery. the dealership needs to look into this to see why there are so many problems from other individuals. i will think twice before i purchase another gmc vehicle.
Gmc yukon 2016 rear lights are defective. this is the 2nd time they have gone out and it is not a quick fix to replace. cost is approximately $750 to replace a light that will go out again due to poor manufacturing and quality. the first time it went out was only a year after purchase. this is the 2nd time it has gone out and is not d=covere under warranty. these lights are not made to last a decent amount of time. there are numerous issues reported regarding these rear lights.
The rear tail lights on my 2016 yukon slt both went out.
Taillight quit working
Led tail light/brake light failure. these tail lights on the 2015 to present gmc and chevrolet suvs have premature failure. the cost to the public for these lights are around 700$ each to replace. gm needs to recall the taillights or have them warranted for the life of the vehicle. this creates a safety hazard for drivers and not to mention a possible traffic ticket coupled with the cost associated with the replacement; gm needs to recall these for the shear fact that they cost as much as a house payment just to replace one light.
Faulty wiring on tail lights. light went out very quickly. non-functioning now.
Both the driver and passenger brake lights are not functioning at all. because it is an led lamp, the entire tail lamps assembly requires replacement at a significant cost.
Both break lights went out.
Rear led brake lights are not working - they work then they don't work it's not consistent - sometimes going out for days. the vehicle is only 2 yrs old and i'm not sure what is causing the malfunction and don't want to pay 700 to replace each light. it is really unsafe to be driving.
