Tl* the contact owns a 2001 gmc yukon. the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the steering wheel became seized causing the vehicle to crash into an embankment. the air bags failed to deploy. a police report was filed. the contact sustained a crushed pelvis in three areas, left leg and ankle nerve damage and dislocated right shoulder. the front passenger sustained a broken left leg and ankle, broken jaw and front and side teeth were knocked out which required medical attention. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
Upon completing a 400 mile vacation, i pulled into my driveway at home, while pulling a large camper, and the power steering failed, good thing i was not on the highway when this happened. i had the vehicle towed to the nearest gm. dealer and they ended up replacing the power steering pump. the pump shaft sheared in two. *tr
Dt*: the contact stated while turning sharply at low speeds the steering wheel made a popping noise. the dealer recommended greasing the steering column, but informed the contact this would not correct the problem permanently. therefore, the dealer was unable to offer any permanent solution. *ak
The consumer experienced various steering, suspension and transfer case problems with her 2001 gmc yukon. *nm the cigarette lighter was hanging out. the dealer replaced the housing and element. the parking brake shoes were replaced. teflon grease was installed on driveshaft to alleviate the bumpiness in the rear. license plate light fogged up. the dealer replaced the lamp. the driveshaft was replaced along with the yoke at the rear u-joint. the consumer heard a clunking noise when putting the vehicle in reverse. the dealer determined that the transfer case chain had stretched. the dealer r and r the transfer case and replaced the chain. *nm
Headlights fail to come on sometimes if steering wheel is tilted, it will have to move tilt on steering wheel sometimes they will come on in a certain position on the wheel and the interior dial will not make them come on, if they are on and high beamed or used it will make the lights go out all together, will not come on until tilt is readjusted. *la
The steering wheel shakes whenever making a turn, and there is a loud noise coming from the driveline. vehicle's performance continues to get worse. manufacture offers no assistance.*ak......steering shaft failed. *ak
Multiple failures; a/c odors, door lock, suspension alignment and brakes. *bf there were problems with the following: weather strip was loose, the a/c blew warm, the belts squeaked, there was a mildew odors, the window regulator, the front seat belt squeaked, the door panel, the steering wheel rattled, drive shaft, accelerator pedal, the wipers were noisy, the hinge pin on the radio was loose, engine noises, a/c drain would not drain at times until the passenger door was closed/water lead and caused by the left front floorboard. recall#01v159000, 02v253000, 03v094000. *sc
Consumer was driving 75 mph when steering suddenly failed. dealer informed consumer that ebo sensor had failed, which in turn, caused steering to go out without any prior warning. and that gmc was aware of the problem.*ak
