We bought our terrain brand new in 2014, i have replaced the linkage once about 2 months ago and now the wipers do not work again. our transmission is going and we just got out of 5 year warranty. so disappointed and frustrated with this vehicle
Vehicle with only 75,00 miles, runs rough and stalls, went to dealer and they say due to low oil at some point the timing chain has stretched and needs replaced along with sensors and actuators. timing chain and associated parts replaced to the tune of $1715.00. i check the oil and the dealership has been changing it. this looks to be a factory defect. i have sent a letter to gm for resolution as well.
My 2014 gmc terrain has stalled on me 11 times. i cannot make any rhyme or reason out of it. it will stall after a 10 mile drive, it will stall after a 2 miles drive. the stalls seem to happen when i am coming from a stop, like when i stop to put my car in reverse to back into my garage. or when i stop at a light or stop sign. each time the car starts again, but rides really roughly. at stop signs and stop lights i feel the car start to tremor, so i put the car in neutral and cross my fingers. i need to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running. this is just unsafe to drive a car like this. this started about 6 weeks ago, and now it happened 3 times this past weekend.
2014 gmc terrain with 66,000 miles stalling out when slowing/stopping, low acceleration, loud engine. dealer says oil is low when it was just replaced 2 months (2,700 miles) ago. cannot determine why vehicle is consuming more oil than what gm allows.
I've took it to car shop and they said it's burning oil. i have to get oil changes every 2500 miles, and it's low after 2 weeks. i've constantly adding oil and check it between oil changes. this is my first gmc and i'm not too happy about this issue i'm having. 104561 mileage and engine light just came on this week. i'm very scare and i can't afford another engine. it's ticking loud and makes noise when i accelerate. i only work less than 5 miles from home and this is just crazy.
Oil consumption testing began 6/12 a week later check engine light came out. brought my terrain back to gmc for them to tell me that the timing chain needs to be replaced due to the oil consumption problems. having several problems since such as jerking, and stalling that i did express to gmc over the past couple weeks, which is due to the excessive oil consumption. still waiting to hear from the gmc to get my suv fixed almost 40 plus days later
Takata recall when driving my vehicle said oil pressure was low and just shut off. lost all oil. mechanic said it was an issue with the pcv valve. this happened when driving and happened fast with no warning.
I just hit 105k on my vehicle and the intake camshaft position timing is causing my suv to shut off while stopped. i was pulled halfway into a major highway when the light turned green i went to take off and the engine died. i tried to see if there was maybe a recall but i did not find one for my vin number. anyone else's check engine light coming on and throwing this code?
Vehicle violently shifts in low speed gear shifting out of first and second gears. this occurs in both warm and cold temperatures. always when shifting at lower speeds under 20 mph. this has been a repeated issue with the vehicle.
3 years old now and still getting around 10mpg and from the first day i got it in 2014 the drive shaft is rusted and was told by the dealer that nothing is wrong with the car. i also notice that when driving at night that the head lights are not made to see street name signs i have to use the high beams to see if i have the right street when looking for the place i have to go.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 gmc terrain. while driving up a hill, the vehicle rolled backwards. the contact had to slightly depress the accelerator pedal and the brake to keep the vehicle from rolling backwards. the dealer stated that the vehicle was designed to roll backwards. the contact stated that the clutch was not designed to hold. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 15,900. updated 07/13/16*lj *cn
In october 2015, i was driving on the interstate in a rural area, and accelerated to pass another vehicle. my passing speed was approximately 80 mph. i merged back into the right lane after passing, and let my foot off the gas. cruise control was not engaged. the car continued at the passing speed, and started to increase in speed. i waited a few seconds to see what would happen before taking evasive action; as there were no other cars on the highway at this point. for 4-5 seconds this continued. i tapped the brake and no change was detected. i then tapped the accelerator pedal; and the speed disengaged. vehicle was taken to dealer; diagnostic was run and they could not detect a problem. dealer was of the opinion that this event had something to do with the drive train, they drove the car but were unable to duplicate the problem. this all seemed to indicate that cruise control was on; however i am sure it was not.
Driver had stopped at stop sign on the exit ramp and as she began to accelerate to crossover to appropriate lane the car stalled in the middle of the road, reduced engine light came on, and check stability light lit. this was in a very dangerous location as the side road the driver was located was at the bottom of a hill, so oncoming traffic would not have been able to stop and it would have been a t-bone hit for the driver and head on for the oncoming vehicle. the car slowly (very, very slowly) moved forward enough to finally get across street and to a safe place. although no accidents or injuries occurred, it was by the grace of god that no traffic was coming over the hill. this had the potential and has the potential of being a deadly problem if it occurs again or if another vehicle has the same issue. immediately had tow truck pick up car and take to gmc dealership. i am awaiting the results from the dealership. my work requires a lot of travel and now i do not feel safe in this car with this issue (which after research today seems to happen a lot in gmc vehicles. ) *tr
1) brakes have always rubbed & grabbed really hard when applied. almost like they are defective rotors. hard to stop fast. i notice they recalled a lot of their brakes, but not mine. 2). transmission jerks & shifts very violently @ 16 & 17 miles per hour. seems to slip & not shift @ that speed really rough. has always done this. 3) sometimes the collision alert goes off & there is nothing around i live in the country & have no traffic it will just go off scares the crap out of you & startles me. i saw another person had this happen also all situations are in motion while driving. biggest concerns are the transmission & brakes. 4) okay seats are supposed to be leather however, they went cheapy on the sides. it cracked & continues to crack & tear because the sides are vinyl. this started to happen @ approximately 3,000 miles. i only have 32,000 miles on it. i don't drive much.
The drive shaft is all rusted. i told the dealer about it and they say that it is made out of steel and not to worry. i am still scared of driving it. *tr
Tl * the contact owns a 2014 gmc terrain. while driving various speeds, the vehicle veered to the right and stalled. the contact noticed that the key was bent when it was removed from the ignition. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 50.
