Tl* the contact owns a 2015 gmc sierra 1500. while operating the vehicle at very low speeds and while pulling into a parking space, the brakes suddenly malfunctioned. the failure caused the brake pedal to extend to the floor and the vehicle would not immediately stop. the contact stated that the failure occurred on six separate occasions. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (marshall chevrolet, 1601 s. state st, jerseyville, il), but the failure was unable to be duplicated. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 2,500.
While having my vehicle check over for the winter, the mechanic inform me that the front brake lines are very rusty as well as the fuel lines and the cooling lines going to the transmission. this situation is very disturbing since i have very low mileage. the tubing used for the brake as well as the fuel lines should be able to withstand rusting for the life of the vehicle. if the material used by gm was not up to specification as far as corrosion protection either compensation to repair it is in order a recall should be made.
Got in truck started it, drove to the top of mile driveway applied brakes. the pedal went to the floor. i rolled into the road before i could apply the parking brake. an oncoming car had to brake, so as to avoid hitting me. i got the truck back in to the driveway and rode the park brake down the drive. called a wrecker to tow to nearest garage. the brake lines ruptured in the different places, lost all brake fluid.
2009 gmc sierra 1500. the consumer stated it felt as though the brakes were dragging when coming to a stop or a light. *ss the consumer stated the problem became progressively worse, particularly when turning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they were unable to find a problem. he returned to the dealer, a month later, and still no problem was found. the consumer replaced the brake fluid, and it resolved the problem for a short while. *jb
While slowing to make a turn i applied the brakes and had a sudden and complete loss of brakes. had i not been on a suburban road or in traffic or a high speed highway the situation could have been catastrophic and resulted in a crash. i was near my repairing garage and managed to get the vehicle there by using the emergency brake and low speed. it was less than a mile. i had this repaired at a cost of $849.27. just yesterday (6-30-2014) i was parked on a hill and as i released the parking brake my foot suddenly went to the floor and i experienced a second loss of brakes due to failure of the remaining two brake lines. i was on a hill and had only a tiny amount of braking power. the vehicle is at the garage and the cost of this repair has yet to be determined. they will replace the remaining two brake lines. i recently had to replace the transmission cooling lines which ruptured and are located in a nearby location on the vehicle. all are exposed and un-shielded. the manufacturer advertises ...
While driving home, someone pulled out in front of me. i applied the brakes and the pedal went straight to the floor. i managed to avoid a collision and made it home as this happened luckily around the corner from my house. i looked for the problem, it didn't take long as under the hood the frame was covered with brake fluid. i was amazed to find that one of the metal brake line had rusted through and the others don't look to be in very good condition. needless to say i will be replacing all the brake lines with stainless steel lines (a cost of $350.00). i can't imagine why stainless steel lines are not original equipment. rust seems to be a problem with this vehicle not only the brake lines but also parts of the suspension.
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the brake pedal was applied and became stuck to the floorboard abnormally. the contact was able to control the vehicle in order to avoid crashing into a preceding vehicle. the contact drove the vehicle home, inspected the brake system and discovered that several brake lines were corroded. one of the brake lines was replaced a few years prior to the most recent failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 100,791.
All of the brake lines below drivers side door became extremely rusted, thus busting and releasing all the brake fluid at once, leaveingthe vehicle inoperative. *tr
A second brake line ruptured as a result of rust corrosion causing the brakes to fail at 76,158 original miles. i narrowly avoided a rear end collision into another vehicle carrying a family with children. the vehicle was towed to a gm dealer where it was diagnosed. the cost estimate from the gm dealer to replace all of the rusted brake parts is $5,125.00 this is the second incident of brake failure as a result of rusted out brake lines. the first incident occurred at 73,870 original miles. a call was made to gmc in an effort to seek assistance with the repair amount and they adamantly refused any assistance. *tr
I was driving in medium traffic when a vehicle in front of me stopped quickly and i applied my brakes. then i noticed the peddle go down to the floor. that was the only warning i received and so i immediately drove home pumping my brakes when i needed to stop and tried to stop infrequently as possible. *tr
