5 minutes after starting my truck, i was driving on a side road, to work, with the rear window defrost on, when i heard a hissing sound then started to smell something burning, from behind me. i look in my rearview mirror and saw smoke coming from above/behind the passenger seat. i quickly pulled over, jumped out and as i was looking for the source of the smoke, i saw sparks jump from the rear window defrost then "bang" like a gun firing: the rear driver's side passenger window shattered. the air temp was 3f. i immediately drove to a chevy/gmc dealership 4 miles away. they told me to report to the gmc customer care line. no mention of a recall was made to me. though it appears there is one. if someone had been sitting in the back seat, infront of the window, i do feel this may have caused them harm. ## vin passed ## gmc 2016 ##
On 02/12/2020, i was turning turning to park in a parking spot at work when the radio and other electrical components shut down, and the steering wheel jerked in the opposite direction. i temporarily loss control of my own steering wheel. this occurred 3 times while trying to park. in addition, a message about stabilitrack appeared. it is well known that gm has recalled over 1,700,000 vehicles with this same power steering issue stating that owners will lose control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. see nhtsa campaign number: 18v586. gm's own number for this recall is 18289. however, gm has only included certain vehicles in this recall, mainly 2014 and 2015. my 2016 gmc sierra 1500 is currently not included in gm's recall even though the same power steering problem is occurring. according to a notice published with the nhtsc, the trucks may experience a temporary loss of electric power steering (eps) assist followed by a sudden return of eps assist. the issue, gm says, occurs typically during low-speed turning maneuvers. if eps assist is lost and suddenly returned, the driver could lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. ...
Brand new truck. stuck at the gym in the middle of the night truck wont start. the interior lights, head lights, and radio wont shut off. vehicle wont start. i'm assuming the battery was drained because interior lights, exterior lights, radio, wont shut off. has to be some kind of electrical malfunction. waiting on gm roadside.

Sierra 2015 rear power window defroster over heated and shatter my driver side rear window. prior to shattering, i smelled electric wires burning than pop. the vehicle was in motion around 25mph. the rear defroster was not on. it was 30deg outside and clear.
Truck parked in morning, turned it on and multiple warnings came on, service trailer brake system,service esc,brake system failure at 62mph,got warning from onstar that there is an issue with my antilock braking system, i took pictures of error but only could upload one.
While parked and idling in a parking lot with passengers in vehicle, there was a sizzling sound followed by a flame flicker observed directly behind the driver's side, rear passenger seat at the bottom of the rear, driver's side glass panel. shortly thereafter, the rear, driver's side glass panel shattered. my vehicle has rear sliding glass and only the driver's side panel shattered. smoke and burning smell was noticeable. after online research, i discovered the gm recall #n192220470 related to 159,000 canadian vehicles. my situation matched the description of this recall exactly, but according to gm, my vin# is not included in the recall. my vehicle is currently at my local chevy/gmc dealer for diagnosis and repair, but they don't seem to have much concern about the safety failure and told me the repair is not covered by warranty. to me, this is a serious design flaw and poses a potentially dangerous safety issue.
I had no issues with my truck until i went and had the most recent recall done for the brakes. i since have had brake issues twice. once, hours after having the recall done i got in my truck and started it and all the dashboard lights were illuminated and i had to push the brake pedal to the floor after accelerating. the other instance was a week later after remote starting my truck from the phone application had the same scenario play out.
Dear nhtsa, i recently leased a 2019 gmc sierra pickup truck. this truck is currently in the shop for the 6th time, and neither gm or the local dealership can seem to fix anything on this truck. most recently, as yesterday i had my car in for the braking system. the dealership called me and said my truck was fixed. as i turned my truck on, the brake system light came on. i was told by the dealership to just drive it and it will go away. i do not feel this is a good/safe practice and gm is not helping me to get out of this unsafe truck.
Owned truck for one year, bought used at dealership. within 6 months, the service stablilitrack message popped up while on highway and power steering diminished. cruise control would turn off when using the blinkers to change lanes. put a new battery in and things worked well until yesterday when on the highway and the service stabilitrack message came back again when i used my turn signal to change lanes while using the cruise control. the cruise control also turned itself off. went to park and the truck shut down for one second and seemed to reboot. it drove fine after that but scared the [xxx] out of me. luckily no one was around. the headlights have also dimmed when pushing the brake pedal. i see there was a recall but i don't know if this truck had it fixed at that time or not. the website tells me there is only one open recall but for the brake system and this seems to be an electrical problem not brakes. i am contacting the dealership but i doubt they will have an answer and will want to charge me for something that appears, according to this site and others, to be ...
