I have a 2016 gmc acadia, with 30,000 miles, well maintained. suddenly my steering wheel is locked while making turns at a low speed. this was very scary as my wheel was completely locked and i had kids in my car. vehicles running good when at high speed. i have seen so many complain with the same model and same issue, yet, gmc has not posted any recall on their very dangerous issue.
I was driving down the highway and the stabilitrak turned itself off and a warning light came on saying it was off and to service it. i tried to push the button and it did nothing and then it cleared itself and turned back on without any prompt and when slowing down and pressing the brake pedal the steering wheel vibrates and the whole right side of the car shakes.
My powering steering pump stopped functioning while driving, making it very hard to turn the wheel at low speeds, as if there is no power steering at all. took it to the dealership and was told it's a wear and tear problem and after investigating it i noticed they have recalled over 1 million cars for steering failure.

Took vehicle into a gmc dealership for service air bag issue that was covered under a special gmc coverage. dealership found an issue with the power steering and pump had to be replaced due to moderate leak, mileage 65366 on 11/7/19. vehicle is only 4 years old and all maintenance completed on time at a gmc leadership. extended warranty ended in september 2019. this has been an ongoing problem gmc issue for years according to complaints on the internet. the power steering pump on a 4 year old car should not have to be replaced. called gmc customer service number and they called the dealership to give me a cost discount. case number from gmc is [xxx]. i had to pay almost $900 on an issue that gmc knew about. i was lucky the issues was identified at this appointment and not when driving. gmc should have a special coverage on this issue just like the service air bag issue. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Steering wheel making a whining/rubbing noise. fluid leaking under the car. took to the dealer and was found to have tack and pinion is bad spraying out power steering fluid everywhere. was told that the steering will lose power and become either hard to turn or not turn at all causing danger to ourselves and others. this is a known issue that has not been recalled by gm.
The steering two days prior to the incident was really tight and hard to steer as is there were no power steering the vehicle two days later broke down on the interstate i went from 70mph to 30mph within seconds was almost rear ended the seat belt jerked my shoulder it jerked so hard when the engine reduced power due to what the message on the dash said was a traction control system failure i spent 1600 getting the power steering pump, water pump and what they said was a loose wire causing th traction control problem fixed just for the car to break down again with the same traction control system failure message the car slowed down so quickly i hit the steering wheel with my seat belt on and the breaks were very hard to push i had to crawl to a stop almost got rear ended again and no steering this car is not safe there should be a law suit
Left side impact sensor, driver's side airbag, passenger presence module, front struts, rear upper control arms, front brake pads and rotors, steering gear... all at once.
At low speeds or stops the power steering get super tight like i don't have any power steering. took it to the dealership and they said the pump is leaking and it should be replaced. i haven't even had it a year and it not covered. they even know its an issue. seen a lot of other people have the same problem. why is this not fixed ????
