On average, the 2013 Ford Taurus starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 93 052 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2013 Ford Taurus

Purchased a use 2013 police interceptor. drove to store, car won't start, sat for a while it started, drove home and parked it. not the first time vehicle engine stalls out, engine cuts out, won't start. is there a recall on fuel system? can ford remedy the situation or has it been fixed already?

Car stalled while driving later would not start would turn over but not run

Vehicle emits strong odor of gasoline when setting in garage. do not see any visible fuel leak. afraid fumes may ignite!

The 2013 ford taurus was stalling intermittently and taken to the garage where the diagnostic code showing up was p0627, which points to a fuel pump module failure had occurred. this seems like the same issue as shown in nhtsa campaign number: 16v621000 but did not include my 2013 taurus and seems that it should have. summary from nhtsa campaign number 16v621000: ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 ford taurus, ford flex, lincoln mks and lincoln mkt vehicles equipped with 3.5l gtdi ecoboost engines and 2013-2015 ford taurus police interceptor vehicles. a component within the fuel pump electric module (pem) may overheat causing a loss of electrical power to the fuel pump. ford recall number for this was 16s31.

We were riding down a main road going at about 45 miles an hour when we lost power and the car began coasting but had the foot on the pedal to the floor, we pulled over when we could get to the side of the road and turned the car off, started back up but happened again so we pulled into an auto zone and they put it on machine that showed we had very little power. we towed it the next day to a mechanic and he said it was the throttle body unit. we were almost hit several times because of the way the car was acting.

Car cranks but will not start. replace fuel control 5 times but when replaced this last time it will not start. it would die in traffic and i would have to try and get to the shoulder of the road to get it started again. power steering assist failed indicator light comes on and i have no power steering. i'm very unhappy with this car. bought it brand new and have talked with ford motor company but they say mine is not included in recall. 111,000 miles. help me please! fuel control module went out first time in 2017 and this month which is october makes 5 times replacing it.

While driving on state highway, my vehicle started losing power and acceleration. my speed was between 55-65mph and the vehicle was not overheating. the engine started shaking and making noises as well. i was able to drive about another mile before the vehicle came to a complete stop. while sitting on the side of the road at night with my kids, the vehicle continued to shake and had the tool symbol light on. when i tried to accelerate, the engine would shake more and sputter. i looked at the engine and could see it shaking with no obvious fluid leaks. after turning the vehicle off and sitting for a couple of minutes, i was able to start the vehicle and drive home. it seems like everything is back to normal but i will be contacting my ford dealership in the morning to check it.

Fuel pump control module failure. vehicle stalled in traffic. no warning. would not restart. there was a recall on this same issue, but my specific vin was not included.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that the vehicle would not start automatically on the first attempt. during the second attempt, the vehicle cranked, but was not turning over. the contact used the key to start the vehicle; however, the vehicle was just cranking. the vehicle was not towed. an independent mechanic came to the contact's residence and diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. the contact called paul cerame ford (11400 new halls ferry road, florissant, mo 63033, (314) 838-2400) and informed them of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline). the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

I see that my car has several recalls for fuel module issues. my car recently started leaking gas and the gas hand has suddenly stopped working. according to my vin the only recall is my door handles but i think that my gas issues are apart of the recall that cnn spoke about. there are also weird issues with the axel or suspension that seem to be apart of the recalls for this year. i'm hoping i can find out if my vehicle is apart of these recalls and that it can be repaired because it is not safe. the ac and heat also have major issues that nobody can seem to fix i believe it's an electrical issue.

Vehicle occasionally would stall at intersections or traffic lights; eventually the car would not restart at all. i had towed to ford dealer in knoxville tn where they diagnosed the problem as the fuel pump, which they have replaced at $905 plus tax. i read for recalls and came across 16v621000 which completely describes my car's problem. the vehicle has only done 125,000 miles. a fuel pump should not have issues with mileage. please can you help me obtain reimbursement. in two occasions a car nearly hit me from behind as i was stalled.

I have the exact problem that is described by the recall but my vin number isn't part of the recall. this can't be right and i have paid through the nose to fix what other people got for free.

I went to mall came out and car would not start. towed to webb ford next day and mechanic said fuel pump electric module (pem) overheated causing loss of power to fuel pump. a loss of power to the fuel pump will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the risk of a crash. cost to fix was 400.00.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that the vehicle would not start. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (westfield ford, 6200 s. lagrange rd, countryside, il) where it was diagnosed that the fuel control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. the module was replaced and the failure was remedied. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 70,000.

The engine just stalls without any warning while driving and will not restart for awhile. i called ford, but the lady told me they are not technicians at the call center so they can't assist; even after i told them that i took the car to a ford dealership and their scanning didn't reveal anything. the issues happens 5 times over two months.

My first problem was the fuel pump. the second was the power steering. now i am having an engine problem that i am waiting on a mechanic to check.

Engine will turn over however will not start as if it is starved for fuel or no spark

While driving my car would cut off. it would try to start but not turn over all the way. after a couple of hours the car would restart.i took the car to the dealership to find out it was my fuel pump control module. which i see has been recalled in other vehicles like mine.

The driver side and passenger side door locks do not work with the key fob. at times they appear to be locked, but are not. this occurred after a recall where the interior door handles were replaced. it did not do it at the dealership so it could not be fixed under warranty. now my car will not start. it started, then died and it cranks, but does not start. eventually the battery dies. it acts like it is not getting fuel. the fuel pump assembly was replace (13s04) in july of 2014. there is a recall of the fuel pump control module (16s31) for cars 201301015, but mine is not one of them. it should be!

Vehicle quit accelerating while driving down a paved 45 mph road, wrench symbol appeared on the dash and engine ran rough. according to the owners manual the wrench symbol indicates that the vehicle went into reduced power mode. had it towed to the shop and it started and ran normal for him. there were no active, pending,or memory codes in the computer system. it was driven 50 miles with no other problem occurring during the test drives. there are no recalls on this vehicle for this very dangerous condition even though there are many documented cases of the exact same problem.

My car was parked , i went to start the vehicle and it just cranks , the engine never turns . i'm told it's the fuel pump and that my car had a recall for this issue but my vin doesn't show up in th search for a recall .

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle had to be towed to an independent mechanic and the fuel pump was replaced. richmond ford lincoln (4600 w broad st, richmond, va 23230) was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system). the manufacturer was also contacted and made aware of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 85,251.

My taurus stalled at a red light, the engine turned over, but would not start. i was in the middle lane of a very busy road. i was towed to a nearby service center. they had to replace the fuel pump control module and fuel pump and hanger with sender. it turns out that ford had a recall for 77,502 2013-2015 ford taurus's for the fuel pump electric module. this part was overheating causing lack of power to the fuel pump. i talked to the service manager, victor hyer, at coconut point ford, estero, fl and he in a very unprofessional way told me that it wasn't their problem, i needed to talk to ford customer service. i had talked to them on numerous occasions starting 7/11/18 for my power steering failure, that ford had recalled over 400,000 cars including 2013 ford taurus's (safer car complaint number 1112315) they would not let me talk to anyone above the level of supervisor.

On (4) occasions in the last 2 weeks, a wrench light has come on and my taurus entered limp mode, causing a rapid deceleration with the inability to maintain a safe speed with other traffic on the highway. in all but one of these instances, i was in a center travel lane on a 4 lane highway where the flow of traffic regularly exceeds 65mph. the fact that this "limp" mode can initiate and reduce your speed as drastically as it does is certainly a safety concern.

Engine stopped running without warning. would then crank but not start. diagnosed the fuel pump relay as the problem. removed and replaced and car started. removed part was on recall list for different model taurus and the ford cars but not mine (2013 ford taurus sel). i received no recall notice. ford fuel pump relay part number aa8a-9d412-ca with supplier p/n d7790045-0c was oem on my car. this part is listed as faulty on the ford web site but not for my car model and i received no notice. this is a very dangerous failure mode.

Vehicle drove fine with no warning of any issues. started car, drove from 1 parking space to the next and the engine died. car would start but on stayed on for a few seconds, then stalled out again. tried this over and over again, realized it wasn't going to actually run. took it in to ford, they diagnosed it having problems with the fuel pump module. i have seen several recalls on fuel pump modules in specific 2013 taurus models, but mine isn't included.

Car stalls and cuts off without warning while driving. it loses all power and shuts down.it has happened serveral times periodical on a city street as well as on the highway while car is in motion.there is also a problem with smelling gas fumes inside the car when this happens.

My car wouldn't start and took it to the shop and learned it was the fuel pump control module that went bad this also caused the fuel pump to go bad and need replacing

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the failure recurred several more times. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. the contact believed that the fuel pump electric module was the cause of the failure and replaced the module himself. the contact spoke with bob-boyd ford (2840 n columbus st, lancaster, oh 43130) who stated that the vin was likely not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vin was not included. the approximate failure mileage was 193,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while driving 35 to 40 mph and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the street. the contact made three attempts before the vehicle was able to restart. afterwards, the vehicle drove normally. the manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to the dealer (coggin ford jacksonville, 9650 atlantic blvd, jacksonville, fl 32225). the contact would be responsible for the repair since there was no recall. the contact researched and found nhtsa campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline) for the same failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 96,000.

Fuel pump module malfunctioning causing vehicle not to start

I am driving and all of a sudden the car goes into a safety mode. the is was appears to be a wrench that reads "see owners manual" the engine sounds like it sputter and there is no acceleration when the gas is pressed. i have to pull over safely and restart my vehicle and the problem goes away for about 10 miles.

Won't start. cranks but won't start. fuel problem. misdiagnosed as battery in may 2017. misdiagnosed as battery again in june 2017. now same issue in july 2017 & waiting to see what crap ford tells me today. i have replaced the battery twice in 2 months based on the diagnosis that is obviously incorrect. looking online, i'm finding i'm not the only unhappy 2013 ford taurus owner with this problem and other people have had to have a fuel module replaced. of course when i tried to explain to my ford dealer that i really didn't think it was the battery (especially a month after i replaced the battery) & that it seems to be a fuel pump problem, they told me people try to diagnose their cars all the time & i was wrong & that's what the code said so that's what it was, so i agreed for them to replace a one month old battery, i mean after all, it was my ford dealer & they would know better than anyone, yeah right. i have 85,000 miles on my car & it appears to be in the mileage range when other people encountered this issue, based on the research i'm doing online. now for the third time in less than 3 months, my 2013 ford taurus is in the shop with the same issue. this car left me stranded 8 miles from home the first time, 50 miles from home the second time, and 30 miles from home this time. i have kept up with all of the routine maintenance on the vehicle.

Smells of fuel inside the car and running sluggish. noticed fuel leaking from near the front of the gas tank, dripping on to exhaust pipe. having it towed to local dealer to have it looked at.

The fuel driver module went out while driving causing complete loss of power, no power steering, brakes to control the car safely. this occcured on the freeway. *tt *js

When vehicle is stationary ie stop for a light or a stop sign the r.p.m on occasions drops from 600 to less than 500 rpm and it start to shake, if if i am not aware it will stall. what worries me is that on a trip of less than 5 miles it stalled on red lights and stop signs the same has happen to family members. i have taken to the dealer and nothing is found ( also took it to a private mechanic the same result was given) . same year taurus have been having fuel pump problems but my vin is not register, lot of frustrations. this occur mostly in city driving ant the moment not on open roads, highways.

The electronic throttle body on my 2013 ford taurus failed and left my wife with traffic behind her on the highway in limp mode just barely able to move off of the road ,out of the way of oncoming traffic . this happened more than once .

While driving to a dr apptointment i was on the freeway at about 70 mph when the car stalled, i lost acceleration and a wrench light came appeared. fortunately i was near an exit where i was able to get off the freeway, and find a gas station, as i idled into the gas station at about 2-3 mph. i shut the car off and restarted it, and operation returned to normal for about a week. then today, as i was driving my kids to school and was in the turning lane to enter the freeway it did the same thing, not once but twice in a span of 15 miles. again fortunately i was able to pull off onto the shoulder and restart the vehicle. out of fear i took all back roads home incase it happened again, which it did. i found a recall for this make and model of vehicle saying there is a fault with the fuel delivery system that seems to fit the bill, except the motor in my taurus is not the same one listed on the recall. regardless, this is a major safety issue that has put myself and my children in harms way 3 times in one week, and needs to be addressed. i spend an good amount of money to drive a vehicle that i feel is safe and reliable, and i feel neither at this point for a vehicle that is but 4 years old.

The low oil pressure light goes off every 5 minutes. the car unexpectedly turns off and won't start. it acts like it is out of fuel.

Engine stalled mid traffic. would. it start again. seems to be the same issues regarding ford taurus pcm module recall ford 3.5 ecoboost.

The fuel pump module failed in my vehicle. upon research published reports state that over 465,000 ford vehicles of the same year were recalled for this and replaced with almost 80,000 of them being the taurus model. i believe this part should not have failed at 44,000 miles and should be covered under the recall. *tt *as

Engine stalled while driving 73mph on a straight highway in the middle of nowhere. almost caused an incident with a semi that was driving behind me. the car would not start back up and no warning indicator lights turned out to warn of the failure. the ford dealership fixed the problem and it turned out the be a faulty fuel control module. my car was not included in the recall 16v621000. i have the taurus with the limited trim and a 3.5l v6.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. the failure recurred three times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but the technician could not find a failure; however, the purge valve was replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the vehicle failed to start a second time. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed, and the "check fuel pump module circuit" code appeared. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact was unable to start the vehicle. upon further investigation, the contact associated nhtsa campaign number: 15v812000 (fuel system, gasoline) with the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 112,000. the vin was invalid.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. when approaching a stop light or stop sign with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle shook from front to back. in addition, the vehicle stalled and failed to start. the steering wheel shook each time the vehicle was started and the contact noticed a burning odor inside the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the 02 sensors failed and the fuel pump had a leak. both components needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

Takata recall 2013 ford taurus... it's only february of 2017 and i have had this problem three different times this year alone. the car starts very very rough. half of the time it doesn't start. the vehicle has stalled on me while in motion going down city streets. it has been in the shop twice this year to repair/find the problem. still no results. even when the car does start i am afraid to drive it because it will and has stalled on me in traffic. automotive shop told me it was a bad fuel pump relay. i paid to have that replaced. not even a week later, only six days later the car stalls again. i took it back to the shop where they got it running again for free. but only temporarily. couple weeks later at the most and i'm right back to where i started. car will not start. if it does start it will stall immediately once i am in motion. this vehicle is only three years old and there is no excuse for it not being on the road. this is safety hazard. i cannot comfortably drive my car to and from work without worrying about it stalling and getting rear-ended. it will not be a good day when this causes an accident.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that the fuel system malfunctioned and the fuel gauge decreased inadvertently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline), even though the failures were identical. the failure mileage was 83,243.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while the vehicle was parked in the driveway, the fuel pump module malfunctioned. the vehicle was diagnosed as needing a new fuel pump. the vehicle was repaired, but the issue recurred. the car is now getting a new fuel pump module. this is the exact nature of the most recent recall involving this car. owner states they are not included in the recall. they have filed a complaint with ford. they say the more people who complain the more people with this issue, the recall maybe expanded. mileage was 80,000.

Car stalled traveling 75 mph down a busy interstate. initially felt like a transmission issue. after getting the car off the road it continued to run with a sputter. it would not drive without dying. car was towed to nearest ford dealership for a repair. post inspection the 2013 taurus was diagnosed with an open circuit in the fuel pump control module. fuel pump control module was replaced. vehicle was not included in the recall number 16v621000. parts were inexpensive, labor was not.

Car lost all power in middle of intersection. wrench symbol appeared, engine warning light came on and the car would barely move through the intersection. i took the car to a local repair shop to have the car scanned. the service tech said the car had a defective throttle body valve failure code. i was told by the service company that ford has a problem involving the throttle body valves. so i called ford after reading about all the failures that other customers have had with various models of fords. the ford customer service people told me that the throttle body issues they are having does not cover my vehicle. they then told me that your agency is responsible for issuing a product recall and until your agency does so we will need to incur the 400.00 to 600 dollar repair costs. i respectively request that your agency immediately force ford to fix this problem before someone gets seriously gets injured. it is apparent that this throttle body issue does exist on other models besides the models listed for the repairs. please act on this immediately! *tr
