While driving on highway over 60 mph, on october 18, 2019 at approximately 19:30 california time, wrench symbol appeared, and i lost acceleration. there could have been a terrible accident, but i had difficult time to pull over. diagnosis shown that throttle actuator a control system ' stuck open. on october 19, 2019 at 13:39 california time, i called ford and asked them to replace the defective part at the expense of the company, regardless of warranty because this part is sensitive and related to public safety and should not be malfunctioning under any circumstances. ford representative asked me to go to the nearest dealership and keep the receipt in the hope that i will be reimbursed in the future if the same issue happens with others, so i did that. on october 25 at 08:44 california time, i called again ford company and asked them to deliver my message to the executive director in order to take the appropriate action. ford representative repeated what was previously said and gave me a case number: cas/24590915. so far, there is no response. i found, through my online browsing, that there are a lot of complaints about this same throttle body problem. i respectively request you take this issue in your consideration before someone get hurt. the approximate failure mileage was 34,900.
My 2013 ford taurus will automatically shut off in the middle of driving. we took it to a dealer and they couldn't fix it. the problem went away on its own and a couple of months later is doing it again. the car stalls and often stops in the middle of driving. so disappointed in this purchase but now we are stuck .
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while operating the vehicle, the check engine indicator remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to sunset ford (11700 gravois rd, st. louis, mo) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain was faulty. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 80,000.
Driving down the road and all of a sudden the car indicated it was overheating. so i pulled over and seen that the car was spewing coolant everywhere. from further trouble shooting i found out that the water pump was bad and that it was going to cost me over $2000. the water pump should not be going out like that when i only just hit over 80,000 miles. ford needs to recall these water pumps they put on these taurus's.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while driving 55 mph, the engine seized without warning. the contact stated pulled the vehicle over onto the left shoulder. while on the shoulder, another vehicle rear ended the contact's vehicle. a police report was filed. the passenger in the contact's vehicle sustained neck, back, and wrist injuries that required medical attention. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. the control module was replaced. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the approximate failure mileage was 115,000.*bf..*jb
My first problem was the fuel pump. the second was the power steering. now i am having an engine problem that i am waiting on a mechanic to check.
Engine will turn over however will not start as if it is starved for fuel or no spark
Vehicle quit accelerating while driving down a paved 45 mph road, wrench symbol appeared on the dash and engine ran rough. according to the owners manual the wrench symbol indicates that the vehicle went into reduced power mode. had it towed to the shop and it started and ran normal for him. there were no active, pending,or memory codes in the computer system. it was driven 50 miles with no other problem occurring during the test drives. there are no recalls on this vehicle for this very dangerous condition even though there are many documented cases of the exact same problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle lost power and stalled. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the local dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was 76,000.

On (4) occasions in the last 2 weeks, a wrench light has come on and my taurus entered limp mode, causing a rapid deceleration with the inability to maintain a safe speed with other traffic on the highway. in all but one of these instances, i was in a center travel lane on a 4 lane highway where the flow of traffic regularly exceeds 65mph. the fact that this "limp" mode can initiate and reduce your speed as drastically as it does is certainly a safety concern.
While driving through the city, the vehicle suddenly overheated, with little to no warning it gave me a over temperature warning, which prompted me to pull over and turn off the vehicle. after parking the vehicle i notices large amounts of coolant being spewed from the pressure relief. after replacing the thermostat on the vehicle, it continued to leak coolant, although it was difficult to identify where the leak was. after 3 weeks and some testing, the dealership was able to find a leak in the water pump. had the leak not been found, there could have been serious overheating issues. based on what i saw with how quickly the car overheated with and ambient outside air temperature of about 68*f it's a wonder no ford taurus' has started on fire.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while driving approximately 70 mph, the oil pressure warning indicator illuminated. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the roadway and called a tow truck. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (westway ford in irving, texas) where it was diagnosed that the oil pressure sending unit and pcv valve were damaged and needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: cas14131690. the failure recurred but the vehicle was not repaired again. the approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
Car was brought in to change the serpentine belt at 76,000 miles. tech noticed that the water pump was leaking through the weep hole and said that it needed to be replaced. this job was quoted at over $2000. hundreds of other water pump failures have been reported, some as early as 45,000 miles, and ford refuses to issue a recall. the pump fails at the main bearing and spews coolant into the crankcase which kills the engine and totals the car. there was no check engine light, no warning signs whatsoever. if it were not for a routine belt change this issue would not have been caught and would have resulted in a catastrophic failure of the motor. this is unacceptable as it happens to all duratec equipped ford vehicles and ford refuses to cover this failure under a recall for the defective water pump.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while driving 35 mph and making a left turn, the vehicle started to decelerate and stalled without warning. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, waited a few minutes, and was able to resume driving. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was taken to verner cadby ford (1240 bloomfield ave, fairfield, nj 07004) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body, injection kit, and fuel kit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 16,600. *tt
Vehicle stalls and high speeds and goes into "limp mode" where vehicle loses all power and acceleration. vehicle immediately begins to decelerate in traffic causing a very dangerous and hazardous situation for the driver and other vehicles. this has now happened 8 times in my taurus 5 of which was in the interstate in excess of 70mph. *tt consumer stated issue was not related to the fuel pump, issue was caused by the faulty throttle body. warranty did not cover the part and consumer ended up paying out of pocket for the repair. updated 7/25/18*jb *tr

My car has 86,621 miles and the thermostat light came on. i took to my mechanic and they told me that there is leaking around the water pump and it has to be replaced. i had it diagnosed at a ford dealership and they agreed. it is not under warranty because of miles and it is going to cost $1900 to replace. i take very good care of my car and have all of the service records. it is a defect in the water pump and that is why it failed.
When vehicle is stationary ie stop for a light or a stop sign the r.p.m on occasions drops from 600 to less than 500 rpm and it start to shake, if if i am not aware it will stall. what worries me is that on a trip of less than 5 miles it stalled on red lights and stop signs the same has happen to family members. i have taken to the dealer and nothing is found ( also took it to a private mechanic the same result was given) . same year taurus have been having fuel pump problems but my vin is not register, lot of frustrations. this occur mostly in city driving ant the moment not on open roads, highways.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while driving various speeds, the maintenance warning indicator illuminated intermittently. in addition, the vehicle shook violently and the rpms decelerated independently. the contact had to place the vehicle in park and sometimes restart the vehicle in order for it to operate; however, the failure recurred minutes later. the vehicle was taken to laurel ford lincoln (2018 ms-15, laurel, ms 39440 (601) 649-4511) where it was diagnosed that the throttle actuator control module needed to be repaired. the dealer stated that they could not repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 139,679.
Engine stalls for no reason while driving on highway
While driving to a dr apptointment i was on the freeway at about 70 mph when the car stalled, i lost acceleration and a wrench light came appeared. fortunately i was near an exit where i was able to get off the freeway, and find a gas station, as i idled into the gas station at about 2-3 mph. i shut the car off and restarted it, and operation returned to normal for about a week. then today, as i was driving my kids to school and was in the turning lane to enter the freeway it did the same thing, not once but twice in a span of 15 miles. again fortunately i was able to pull off onto the shoulder and restart the vehicle. out of fear i took all back roads home incase it happened again, which it did. i found a recall for this make and model of vehicle saying there is a fault with the fuel delivery system that seems to fit the bill, except the motor in my taurus is not the same one listed on the recall. regardless, this is a major safety issue that has put myself and my children in harms way 3 times in one week, and needs to be addressed. i spend an good amount of money to drive a vehicle that i feel is safe and reliable, and i feel neither at this point for a vehicle that is but 4 years old.
The low oil pressure light goes off every 5 minutes. the car unexpectedly turns off and won't start. it acts like it is out of fuel.
I was driving to work when the engine temp warning activated. i continued on to work, which was less than a mile away, and parked. i noticed steam coming from under the hood. i popped the hood and saw coolant pouring from someplace underneath the engine. had the car towed to the shop, and it was initially diagnosed as a missing freeze plug. further inspection revealed that the engine block was cracked. no leaks had been noted during previous oil change and all fluids were topped off. no freezing temperatures had occurred in the days prior to the incident. the vehicle is being towed to another shop that deals with major repairs. warranty company was contacted for guidance and i was informed by them that they will not cover the repairs if the cracks were caused by freezing or overheating. inspection by warranty company pending, but i have the feeling that they are going to try to worm their way out of covering this, even tough it's the top of the line warranty and is supposed to be "bumper to bumper" and "worry-free" coverage. i was lucky this happened to while i was in close proximity to a familiar place to park (my workplace). this incident happened while i was driving on a highway just before exiting to a city street, less than a mile from my workplace. it has now been close to two weeks the the car is still down and in need of a replacement engine. the car is only 4 years old. no previous issues with the car at all, it ran perfectly up until this issue. fair warning to those purchasing this vehicle and looking to by an extended warranty, do your homework first.
Why the vehicle is in motion the vehicle tents to sputter and decelerate losing all power the vehicle then comes to complete stop in the movie line of traffic you have to turn the vehicle off and then turn the vehicle back on to actually get speed to move out of the way this has become a very serious safety issue in the operator of the vehicle. this mostly happens when the vehicle is in motion while traveling at speeds between 50 to 65 miles per hour the vehicles come to almost a complete stop in the movie line of traffic
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 59,000.
Takata recall 2013 ford taurus... it's only february of 2017 and i have had this problem three different times this year alone. the car starts very very rough. half of the time it doesn't start. the vehicle has stalled on me while in motion going down city streets. it has been in the shop twice this year to repair/find the problem. still no results. even when the car does start i am afraid to drive it because it will and has stalled on me in traffic. automotive shop told me it was a bad fuel pump relay. i paid to have that replaced. not even a week later, only six days later the car stalls again. i took it back to the shop where they got it running again for free. but only temporarily. couple weeks later at the most and i'm right back to where i started. car will not start. if it does start it will stall immediately once i am in motion. this vehicle is only three years old and there is no excuse for it not being on the road. this is safety hazard. i cannot comfortably drive my car to and from work without worrying about it stalling and getting rear-ended. it will not be a good day when this causes an accident.
Car stalls at red lights/stop signs. even when put in park at a stop. car will restart. no check engine light. no warning.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while the vehicle was stationary, it stalled without warning. on another occasion, the vehicle failed to start. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 85,000.

As i was driving, on the hightway, the car stopped accelerating. it seemed to not be getting any gas. when i gave it gas it did not even rev. i pulled over and shut the engine off, waited about 20 seconds, started it and it was fine. this happened again shortly after. the wrench symbol came on when this happened and now the engine light is on.
I was working with someone to get reimbursed for this. his name was donte kirksey. i have all emails . i had a failed part that made my car completey stop while i was driving. tbey realized it was fords fault was suppose to reimburse us 700. and still havent heard back
While driving sudden losing accelation. i had about 7 times in highway to pulled off with out rear collision. about 3 times in local drive. each time pulled off and turn engine off with restart than engine light and code disappear and driving normal.
Vehicle has 48,000 miles and had freezer plug and water pump failure. ford was backordered by over 300 units of water pump. vehicle was in hawaii for first year and in seattle / tacoma area since. i feel that at this mileage, along with the amount of water pumps that were on order from ford motor that their is a defect with the water pumps and a recall should be looked into
I have a 2013 ford taurus limited edition.my car started having problems.i was at a stop started to move when the light turned green.the wrench light came on .i had no gas pedal.car was shacking very bad.i coasted to the side of the road turned engine off.i restarted my car and it seemed fine.this has happened several times.i took my car to commercial ford in aransas pass tx.they thought it was throttle body speed sensor but they didn't know at that time.took my car home it continued to have problems and finally set a code.they were right.they want 800.00 dollars to repair my car.the problem is the part is on back order.as of today there are 1562 on back order.this is going to take along time that i will be without a vehicle.i have researched online there are a lot of complaints about this same problem.this is a dangerous and unsafe problem.i don't understand why ford doesn't recall these cars before someone gets hurt.please investigate and get ford to fix my car and the 1562 other cars that are having this same issue.
I was driving on the highway at about 65 mph and my car jerked, malfunction indicator light came on and my car began to decelerate, the gas pedal did not work, and the car began to rough idle. i coasted to the freeway shoulder, turned my car off and restarted. the condition appeared to correct itself. i attempted to resume driving only to have the same scenario mentioned above happen again while driving on the freeway. this occurred a total of 3 times on my way to work. took my car to ford dealer: they were able to reproduce issue, read diagnostic code p2111, and attempted to fix the issue by performing maintenance to the connector. i was advised that if this did not correct the issue that the throttle body might need to be replaced. i drove the car for 1/2 day and it repeated the same issue as above only this time at 40 mph on the street, but this time i had to stop and start the car two times in a row to get past the rough idle. i have a 2011 ford fusion where the identical scenario occurred and the same ford dealer covered the repair under extended warranty under nhtsa action number : pe13003. i filed a claim with corporate ford and they would not cover my car. i would like to request the scope of this issue researched to see if vehicles with my year, make and model should be included in this action... updated 09/30/15*bf
On 8/1/15, my son, my father, and i were heading back from vacation. my father was driving when he went to accelerate; we heard a "pop" from the engine. my son stated that he smelt smoke. my father and i hadn't at that time. not even a minute later, the dashboard flashed a "service soon" and to check manual. before i could thumb thru the manual, my father stated that we had lost power. he was coasting over to the side of the road when we both smelled smoke. shortly after that, we saw smoke and fire from the drivers side hood. before he had the car stopped, smoke and flames were rolling out. we were able to get everything out of the vehicle but the car was a total loss. i contacted the dealership along with ford motor company regarding this issue. my car had less than 33k miles. it was still under factory warranty; heck i even bought the extended warranty. the dealership and ford motor company aren't taking responsibility at this time.
This is a police interceptor vehicle. when attempting to go from reverse to drive while the vehicle is still in reverse motion[approx. 5 mph] as soon as it is put in drive, the engine stalls. same thing will happen when in forward motion and going into reverse. to my knowledge, all of the 2013 and 2014 police interceptors are experiencing the same issue.
go`s to a very rough idle. this has happen four times the last being 8/19/2015. i have a engine analyzer that has code p2111 which is throttle body trouble. i have it at a ford dealer now and they are telling me they can not do anything as there analyzer is not giving them a code. this is a very dangerous condition as it will just go to a ideal at any speed. as trying to make a left turn or crossing a busy road. i took them my print out from my analyzer. but all i get is song and dance that they can`t do anything till they get a code. it has a extended warranty and they don`t want to do it. there first answer was drive it till it happen again. my answer was next time could get you killed in the right place. i told them to keep it and when they fix it let me know. they first told me the computer just needed up dating and i told them that was bs which it is. it is a soft code that will reset it`s self. the car is located at ( mullinax ford ) in new smyrna beach.fl 32168 phone386-428-9094 ext 2336 service rep ( brittany finch ) my cell phone is 386-690-1065
Upon accelerating after green light car surged and started to shake with no power control, had to maneuver across 2 lanes of traffic to side of the road with no power almost getting hit, after removing ignition key and waiting several moments car started and was fine. the problem intermittently persist always during acceleration after a stop. very dangerous being stuck in the intersections!! *tr
Car spontaneously stopped running. the touch screen display went dark, the dash board lights turned off and the engine stopped while traveling a city street at 25 mph. the car coasted to a stop and it took about a minute to restart it. *tr updated 2/11/16*js

I drove my 2013 ford taurus approximately 4 miles to my home. after cutting the car off i noticed smoke billowing from under the hood. i restarted the car to back out from under my carport. i cut the car off and within seconds the car was engulfed in flames causing a total loss. there were no warning signs or signals. it was very quick. my insurance company settled the claim and is subrogating with ford. ford has shown no interest about seeing the car, finding out what happened or determining the possible cause of the fire. this is very disappointing as this could have been very dangerous if it had happened while driving, not to mentioned if it had caught my house on fire. i am very disappointed with ford and chose not to purchase another ford, nor will i recommend one. by the way the car was still under warranty and had been serviced at the ford dealership including recalls. *tr
