While driving various speeds, the vehicle will just shut off in the middle of traffic and show a wrench light on the dash. this has happened 4 times (twice in the last week) on my 2013 ford taurus limited. i can start the car again after about 20 seconds but this is a very dangerous defect that has many complaints. i'm lucky no one has crashed into the back of me. this is my first and last ford.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle decelerated, stalled, and the maintenance vehicle warning indicator illuminated. when the vehicle was restarted, it operated normally. the vehicle was taken to academy ford (13401 baltimore ave, laurel, md 20707, (800) 658-7794), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case number was provided. the failure mileage was 130,000.

Driving in traffic and without warning, vehicle loses power and shudders. slows dramatically. wrench indicator light comes on. it has happened twice now, luckily i was able to pull out of traffic and turn vehicle off. after a few moments it will start and the light is off. both times speed was 50-60 mph. wife is now scared to drive it. it has 52,000 miles.

Takata recalls. while driving sometimes the steering stiffen up making the car hard to control while driving and parking then vehicle ,then the rack and pinon went out, making loud noises . making the vehicle impossible to drive. there is also an issue with transfer case to the awd the seals are easily breaking making the transmission fluid leaking everywhere.

Power steering in my vehicle went out in my vehicle while driving on the freeway. i did a bunch of research on 2013 ford taurus and discovered there was a recall issued by the manufacturer tuer but my vin was not covered. i read in several forums that this is happening to hundreds of other with the same make and model, all typically happening in the 80k -100k mileage. several attempts were made by myself and the dealer to doing the repair to get assistance and i was just given the run around over and over, every person i spoke to had a different answer or information. the dealer never received a response from the manufacturer, so i paid the $3100 in full. i confirmed with the dealer this was the exact part that needed to be replaced in recall 15v340000 that my vehicle was not covered under. i strongly believe they missed a large section of vin's that were affected and we are having to pay to replace the parts or our vehicles are just left un able to drive.

Vehicle quit accelerating while driving down a paved 45 mph road, wrench symbol appeared on the dash and engine ran rough. according to the owners manual the wrench symbol indicates that the vehicle went into reduced power mode. had it towed to the shop and it started and ran normal for him. there were no active, pending,or memory codes in the computer system. it was driven 50 miles with no other problem occurring during the test drives. there are no recalls on this vehicle for this very dangerous condition even though there are many documented cases of the exact same problem.

80,200 miles - during a 2 hour drive on the interstate going 80mph, my transmission lost the low gears. as i tried to slow down in construction, my car experenced loud hard jolting shifts when it attempted to downshift, bouncing my mother's head off the dash. it was super sluggish like following and hard to bring it to a stop. when stopped and shifting through the gears you could hear it slam into gear a few seconds after shifting into drive. resulted in a costly transmission replacement.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost power while going into limp mode. in addition, the power train fault warning indicator illuminated. the contact mentioned that it took several attempts to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 101,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that the vehicle did not start without warning. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. the mechanic called gwinnett ford at (404) 418-6877 (3230 satellite blvd, duluth, ga 30096) and was informed that there was no recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

Vehicle stalls and high speeds and goes into "limp mode" where vehicle loses all power and acceleration. vehicle immediately begins to decelerate in traffic causing a very dangerous and hazardous situation for the driver and other vehicles. this has now happened 8 times in my taurus 5 of which was in the interstate in excess of 70mph. *tt consumer stated issue was not related to the fuel pump, issue was caused by the faulty throttle body. warranty did not cover the part and consumer ended up paying out of pocket for the repair. updated 7/25/18*jb *tr

While driving the "wrench" symbols displays and immediately the car jerks and loses all momentum. the car immediately slows down and it allows me to coast to an area to park. after a few minutes, i can start the car and drive off. this issue occurs randomly. mechanics read the computer diagnostics and cannot find an issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that on several occasions while driving, the engine stalled and lost power. the power train fault light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to auto zone where it was diagnosed that the throttle body was faulty. the contact called autonation ford fort lauderdale located at 1333 n federal hwy, fort lauderdale, fl 33304 where the dealer stated that there would be a fee for diagnostics. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure where it was confirmed that the vehicle was not part of the recall and did not offer any further assistance. the failure mileage was 85,963.

I am driving and all of a sudden the car goes into a safety mode. the is was appears to be a wrench that reads "see owners manual" the engine sounds like it sputter and there is no acceleration when the gas is pressed. i have to pull over safely and restart my vehicle and the problem goes away for about 10 miles.

Ford transfer case: the ptu of my 2013 ford taurus began to fail at 84000 miles. it is in the shop and being replaced. it is costing me $2000 out of pocket, because i didn't expect such a poor design. i started hearing a noise two weeks ago and took it to the dealership to be diagnosed (06/26/17). thank god it didn't fail while i was on the highway!

While driving to a dr apptointment i was on the freeway at about 70 mph when the car stalled, i lost acceleration and a wrench light came appeared. fortunately i was near an exit where i was able to get off the freeway, and find a gas station, as i idled into the gas station at about 2-3 mph. i shut the car off and restarted it, and operation returned to normal for about a week. then today, as i was driving my kids to school and was in the turning lane to enter the freeway it did the same thing, not once but twice in a span of 15 miles. again fortunately i was able to pull off onto the shoulder and restart the vehicle. out of fear i took all back roads home incase it happened again, which it did. i found a recall for this make and model of vehicle saying there is a fault with the fuel delivery system that seems to fit the bill, except the motor in my taurus is not the same one listed on the recall. regardless, this is a major safety issue that has put myself and my children in harms way 3 times in one week, and needs to be addressed. i spend an good amount of money to drive a vehicle that i feel is safe and reliable, and i feel neither at this point for a vehicle that is but 4 years old.

Takata recalli am the owner of a 2013 ford taurus that i bought in 2016. it was a 1 owner no accidents and 36000 miles on it. i was never informed of any recalls by ford or the dealership. your website says it was fixed so i cannot see what recall out of the eight it has. i was driving to work one morning doing maybe 15mph around a right hand turn, when my passenger side tire almost fell off from being disconnected at the half shaft and link shaft. my traction stability light came on and i lost call control of the vehicle. i ended up hitting a traffic light. i had minimal cosmetic damage to the vehicle. but due to all of the powertrain work needing to be done from this the bill was over 5000$. i had to claim it on insurance and now i've been paying 5000$ a year or insurance on a car worth maybe 8000. i did not know about these recalls until recently and i am upset i was never notified because if i was doing the speed limit at 55. i would be dead. this is a hide safety concern of mine. i still have the repair bills and for hitting a stoplight at roughly 5mph could not have cause that much damage.

Why the vehicle is in motion the vehicle tents to sputter and decelerate losing all power the vehicle then comes to complete stop in the movie line of traffic you have to turn the vehicle off and then turn the vehicle back on to actually get speed to move out of the way this has become a very serious safety issue in the operator of the vehicle. this mostly happens when the vehicle is in motion while traveling at speeds between 50 to 65 miles per hour the vehicles come to almost a complete stop in the movie line of traffic

Engine stalled while driving 73mph on a straight highway in the middle of nowhere. almost caused an incident with a semi that was driving behind me. the car would not start back up and no warning indicator lights turned out to warn of the failure. the ford dealership fixed the problem and it turned out the be a faulty fuel control module. my car was not included in the recall 16v621000. i have the taurus with the limited trim and a 3.5l v6.

On 5/31/2013 i purchased a new 2013 ford taurus sho. today, the car has about 73,000 miles on it. about three weeks ago i began smelling a hot smell, like plastic or sulfur, but could not pin point it. i was concerned that my car was going to catch on fire because it just didn't smell right, both inside and outside the car. i only smelled it after the car got warmed up and was stationary or moving slow in town. after i accelerated the smell would go away, but would come back when i slowed down and stopped. then i began to notice a couple drops of fluid underneath my car. i took it to the dealership who told me i probably had some oil on the engine, which would go away with time. i had the oil changed and new tires put on and asked them to check a couple error codes i had gotten. the service technicians told me my car was fine and i could drive it, including to chicago for christmas. the smell problem continued and the leak progressively got worse, so i immediately took it back again. they now tell me that the power transfer unit has failed and the car has a turbo down pipe leak. to repair, it will cost me over $2,000.00. i contacted ford to see if they could help me. they told me that because the powertrain warranty has expired, they will not help me. i explained that this car would still be under warranty as of may 31, 2017 and the powertrain should not fail at 73,000 miles, most of which were highway miles. ford still will not provide any assistance. in speaking with the dealership, they told me this is an issue that has been going on. they've had 5 other ptus fail in about six months. ford documented the case number as [xxx]. i am going to take pictures and save all documents and receipts. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that the gear shift lever was placed in the park position, but the vehicle rolled forward. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the contact was not given a reason for the issue. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v393000 (power train). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 39,400.

Vehicle on multiple occasions will stop accelerating and will start stalling while driving, which can cause an accident since the person behind you will not notice the vehicle not accelerating. the power-train "wrench" light turns on. when you press on the accelerator, the accelerator will not function and the vehicle will keep stalling. the electronics and ac inside the vehicle do not turn of during this. i have to turn off the vehicle for about 1 minute and then turn on the vehicle. it will drive fine a moment but the symptoms come back. all this happened during driving in the city. the average speed where this has happened is between 30-40 mph.

Whitle driving at any speed the car will stop acceleration and will not go as if it is getting no power . it will start to sputter and then the wrench light will come on . if car is turned off it will immediately be fine this is random it may happen 3 times in a day and then not again for a week ant there is no rhyme or reason as to when it will occur. it does this while driving at any speed and i feel it is very dangerous.

The wrench came on the screen and my car stopped in the middle of the road in 104 degree weather with kids. *tt *cn

The vehicle has the 3.5l non-turbo engine, has about 35,000mi, was purchased as a certified pre-owned vehicle, and is fully stock (has not been modified in any manner. when at low speeds (less than 20mph most of the time) and certainly less than 40mph) and also after making a slight turn (not a forceful one) after having initially applied prior to the turn and then released the accelerator pedal during the turn followed with a re-application of the accelerator pedal, the vehicle loses power and the rpms were noticed to lock in the 1200-1500rpm range. the same phenomenon occurred in a 2012 2.5l 4cyl escape that i had purchased and then had to return because this same phenomenon occurred but to a much greater extent and the ford dealership could not duplicate the condition.this lack of acceleration at one time placed me in a dangerous situation. etb was replaced but not the root cause. 5 other 2012-2013 fords with 4cyl and 3.5l non-turbo v-6 all had the same drivability. other people who had experienced that same issue. this is easy to duplicate. i pulled out to pass someone at about 20mph and the rpms locked @1200. the vehicle would only stay at about the same speed. in this case it was a dangerous situation because i could not get the vehicle to accelerate and traffic from behind me was coming up at a dangerous (for me) rate of closure. i believe that ford has to be aware of this condition and has not chosen to remedy it. when this lack of acceleration occurs, it always occurs after a lateral motion of the vehicle. some people say it is due to the shift algorithm because it sometimes occurs just prior to a shifting action; but, this is truly not the case. think stability control interface. this cannot be disabled in my vehicle without disabling other systems so it cannot be proven out by me without setting codes or compromising the vehicle. pls see att file.

Vehicle going about 30 mph in city street when all of a sudden the car started to slow to a crawl about 3 mph and i could not accelerate.the dashboard displayed a wrench warning light.i was able to coast to left side of road where i turned off car .when i restarted car everything was back to normal.in vehicle settings failed to show any fault.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the front driver side tire seized and came completely off the tire rod, which almost resulted in a crash. a passenger sustained unknown injuries that required medical attention. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v393000 (power train). the approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

Difference felt with accelerating, a loss of power with higher rpm's required. found leak in front drive axle seal and was replaced at dealer. now, the day after, the is a vibration that changes with speed (accelerating, coasting, decelerating; faster/slower with speed).

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford taurus. the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. upon making a left or right turn, the vehicle sputtered and attempted to stall. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who replaced the throttle body, but the failure persisted. the vin was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available. updated 7/29/15*cn updated 10/05/2017*cn

On saturday, aug 17th, our 2013 ford taurus police interceptor (sedan) vin:[xxx] was stopped at a place of business and turned off. initially, the vehicle would not restart. after a few minutes the vehicle started but would not move. the vehicle was removed from the premises by a wrecker and taken to griffin ford co in thomasville, ga. this date, aug. 22, 2013, i spoke with a serviceman at griffin ford and was told that the front wheel axle had broken and that the repair part would be back-ordered (placed on an emergency need basis), but no repair time frame could be given due to the fact that there were no replacement parts in the country. we have had previous problems with both of our (above vin # and vin:[xxx]) 2013 ford taurus police vehicles with the problems previous to this being excessive gas fumes within both vehicles (fuel pump was replaced before recall was issued on both cars but after receiving recall, fuel pumps were again replaced), check engine light was on (evaporative emissions solenoid was replaced, air bag light was on, seat belt sensor was bad and the buckle/sensor was replaced. all of these issues have occurred this year. as you are aware, all repairs take time and we are especially concerned about the time frame to receive and repair the wheel axle. have there been other reports of this type of problem? looking forward to a response from your agency. My taurus symptoms are, lose of power in lower gears(1,2,3). when accelerating from a stand still, the car hesitates. and now the car has a crank no start issue and i smell fuel. my my touch is a little slow but my reverse cam is upside down and some times doesn't show a view at all. other then that, my taurus has been great and reliable. i hope ford finds away to address these issues before they lose a loyal costumer
