Tl* the contact owns a 2001 ford ranger. while making a turn, the door ajar warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
Door ajar light stays on due to faulty door latches and switches. prevents door from closing all the way and also prevents the interior light to shut off. doors shut but don't latch fully which can cause the door to pop open. this should of been a recall a while ago. when talking to my mechanic and a few other people with a 99-01 ranger extended cab 4 door they have had the same problem. my mechanic says this is a known ford problem. i fear that someone in the back jump seat will be leaning up against the door and it will pop open when going down the road. i am in the process of getting this issue corrected but it is going to be a costly fix that i should not be responsible for since this is a ford ranger problem and i am not the only one having it!!! *kb
While standing on tailgate both cables broke at the same time, the tailgate dropped to the bumper and i fell to the ground.
I purchased a new 2001 ford range in nov of that year. the truck came with a hard fiberglass bed cover. it has a locking system and a safety latch at the inside of the top. this safety latch failed when i was in the bed and the top shut down. i have contacted ford about the problem. they have said it is not their responsibility to fix this as they claim it is an aftermarket accessory. the truck was brought into the dealer before the original warranty was up. the top is listed in the owners manual and it was part of the truck at the time of purchase. if my kid's had been locked inside the situation could have been worse. *jb
Door will close, but will not remain secure , it opens when consumer drives around a sharp turn. please provide any additional information. *ak
