We have classified the 3 complaints from 1999 Ford Mustang about STEERING into the following categories.
Passive anti-theft system had transceiver malfunction (broken wires). *ak
Front end of vehicle was backed into, damage was $ 1100.00. a couple of days later, driver's seatback fell back.*ak
I took the car in to have the rear suspension knuckle replaced and my vehicle comes out with a faulty brake calliper. something is wrong wtih the proceedure in fixing this knuckle or the technicians working on the vehicles are carless. i have read different messages on on blue oval message board about individuals have problems with their rear wheel brakes involving the caliper assembly and or rotor locking up.*ak
I was in reverse traveling atbout 3-5 miles per hour. there was a loud hop and then the front passenger side dropped about 6" inche down .both fp/s ball joints hopped out. this could have been a very bad thing at 55/70 miles per hour! ford repaired this under warranty but i qustion how many others and if the drivers side could come apart as well?*ak
Consumer was trying to make a left turn at about 10-15 mph, and suddenly wheel would not turn. vehicle accelerated and ran into some trash cans, and some other stuff on sidewalk. contacted dealer, and dealer tried to fix problem but with no success.*ak
Steering system failure. *ak
While making a right turn, the vehicle would make an awful grinding noise, vehicle was taken to the dealership and they replaced the rack and pinion steering assembly and the outer tie rod. *cj.
While driving at 80 mph making a left turn, vehicle kept going straight down the road. consumer applied brakes, and the side of vehicle hit a ditch. vehicle skidded across the road, and then vehicle hit a tree, and went back into the ditch. driver's and passenger's side air bags didn't deploy. *ak
