Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. while driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle came to a stop and failed to engage in park. the contact depressed the brake pedal and applied the emergency brake. the vehicle was driven to d-patrick ford lincoln (1100 e walnut street, evansville, in 47714) where it was diagnosed that the shift cable was fractured and needed replacement. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 84,395.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. after starting the vehicle and switching the shifter into reverse, the transmission would not remain in gear. the vehicle was unable to be driven due to the failure. the vehicle was towed to the local dealer (parks ford, 3333 n. main st., gainesville, fl) where it was diagnosed that the bushing wire from the transmission shift cable fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train), although the failure was the same. the failure mileage was 68,000.

Problem description: ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2013-2014 ford escape, and 2013-2016 ford fusion vehicles, equipped with six- speed automatic transmissions. the bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. the condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in park, with no warning message or audible chime. this issue is listed in the nhtsa campaign number 18v-471 but my vehicles individual vin isn't listed in the recal along with other 2016 ford fusions listed in the recall.

My transmission cable came off due to plastic bushing, that attaches cable end to transmission shifter arm in engine compartment. my shifter inside car was in park but transmission was in reverse and rolled away. could not start it until i moved transmission lever to park position. cheap plastic bushing... needs upgraded.

On 10/2/18 my shifter cable broke and i was unable to drive my car. the shifter was moving back and forth but was not going into any gears. i called the ford dealership and i had to pay to get my car towed. ford diagnosed my car and said it was bushing in the transmission shifter cable may degrade over time. this may cause the transmission shifter cable to not be able to fully move the transmission to the selected gear position. i argued with dealership and ford to try and get the, to cover repair but was told it was not a recall issue. i had to pay $431.77 cash on 10/6/18 to get shifter cable replaced. on 5/13/19, ford finally issued a recall for this.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the vehicle stalled with the engine light illuminated. the contact also stated that an abnormal noise was detected coming from the front driver side of the vehicle. the contact also stated that after refueling the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated to start. the vehicle was taken to gene messer ford lubbock (6000 19th south, lubbock, tx 79407, (806) 793-2727) where the contact was informed that the purge valve needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 47,000.

Shifter cable coming loose while parking my vehicle, ford dealership said there is no recall

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. while the vehicle was in drive, it shifted out of gear without warning. the gear was unable to manually be maneuvered into park. the contact performed an interim adjustment by opening the hood and pushing the lever near the shift cable forward to place the gear in park. koons ford (1051 e broad st, falls church, va, 703-241-7250) replaced the bushings connecting the shift cable to the transmission. the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train); however, the vehicle exhibited the same failure related to the recall. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was excluded from the recall. the manufacturer suggested the dealer repair the vehicle. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 98,000. *tt*jb

My shifter cable is detached from my transmission however my vehicle is not included in the current recall.

Ford issues two safety recalls in north america 2014-16 ford fusion vehicles built at hermosillo stamping and assembly plant between june 2, 2014 and aug. 31, 2015 select 2013-16 model year ford fusion and 2013-14 ford escape vehicles to replace shifter cable bushings ford is issuing a safety recall in north america for approximately 550,000 2013-16 model year ford fusion and 2013-14 ford escape vehicles to replace shifter cable bushings. on affected vehicles, the bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may detach from the transmission. a degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission may allow the transmission to be in a gear state different than the gear shift position selected by the driver. the condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to 'park' and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in 'park,' with no warning message or audible chime. if the parking brake is not applied, a degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash. ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition. this happen to me and now ford is not honoring the recall stating it does not apply to my vehicle after investigating which plant assembly made my vehicle by the vin number it shows...plant city: hermosillo -- manufacturer: ford motor company, mexico. .

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. while the vehicle was in the park position with the ignition on, the gear shift locked in the park position. the contact called aaa and it was determined that the transmission cable detached from the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to westway ford of irving (801 airport freeway, irving, texas 75062, (972) 584-9033), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. the failure mileage was 76,188. the vin was invalid.

The ford reference number for this recall is 18s20 - replace shifter cable bushings. this recall needs to be expanded to cover all ford fusions from 2014 - 2016 that were built between january 1, 2014 - december 31, 2015. currently the recall only covers the following: 2014-16 ford fusion vehicles built at hermosillo stamping and assembly plant between june 2, 2014 and aug. 31, 2015 unfortunately, my this happen to me recently. my vehicle was manufactured in october 2015 so it was not covered under the recall and cost me 220.00 to have a plastic bushing replaced. lucky the day that my car got stuck in reverse was a day i decided to go home instead of to my appointment where i would have parked on an incline where damage would have occurred not only to my car, but to other property, as well as, someone could have been injured or killed. appears that these bushings are failing at an alarming rate. demand a recall be extended to cover all ford fusions made from all plants from january 1, 2014 - december 31, 2015 for - 2014 - 2016 ford fusions

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. while stationary, the vehicle's transmission malfunctioned. the contacted stated that the gear shifter erroneously detected that the vehicle was in reverse while it was parked. jim bass ford (4032 west houston harte expressway, san angelo, texas 76901, (325) 949-4621) was made aware of the failure and diagnosed that the shifter cable fractured and needed to be replaced. in addition, the dealer stated that the part would have to be ordered. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train) as the cause of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

Transmission cable connection broke. car was in a parking lot, could not put into park. could not continue our two hrs home. stuck at the end of our vacation. why is this recall taking 2 yrs! i had to reach down by the exhaust headers and manualy shift while my wife steered! total crap!!!!

Yesterday, i put my car in reverse to get out of a parking space. when i shifted my automatic into drive, the car continued to back up. i put my car into park to see what was wrong. although my shifter was in park, my car was stuck in neutral and began to coast forward. i unable to get my car into part. ford sent me a recall notice that states that this is a problem (safety recall notice 18s29/ nhtsa recall 18v471). i had my car towed to the nearest ford dealership (bob davidson ford). the next morning the dealership service department called and i would have to pay $576 to repair the faulty part that is subject to the recall. that makes absolutely no sense. first, why should i have to pay to have an unsafe part put in my car until the correct part is available and why should i pay for any repair of a part that is subject to a safety recall?

When driving my check engine light randomly turns on, on the freeway, street, turning, etc. and then it says check manual. the car starts shaking and you can't accelerate. in order to get where i need to be i have to pull over constantly and restart the car. i got it checked at auto zone and it said it was the throttle body actuator stuck in the open position. oh and becomes more difficult to steer the vehicle when the error pops up.

I went to put my car in reverse to back out of a parking lot and when i went to put it in drive the vehicle did not move from reverse, almost resulting in a crash. i then tried to shift to park and it still remained in reverse. i later tried to shift to park and it still wouldn't shift so i turned it off and tried to turn it back on and wouldn't turn on because the vehicle was not in park. i left it in reverse with the parking brake on and the next morning had it towed to shawnee mission ford.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. the contact stated that the gear shifter remained stuck in neutral when shifting from the park position. the vehicle was not able to shift back into park and the emergency brake was activated in order for the vehicle not to roll away. the vehicle was not drivable due to the failure. the dealer cronin ford (10700 new haven rd, harrison, oh 45030, 1-(513) 367-5300) however the parts were not available for nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). a loaner vehicle was not provided. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 95,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 we had this exact issue, but have not been notified of a recall. we got out at a rest area, when we returned the dash showed us in a different gear then the car was actually in. when at dealership they stated that the part they needed to replace was the same part that was under the above recall, however our vin number is not showing up???

Ford fusion shifting cable comes off due to bushing being deteriorated causing car to go in reverse while in park. due to this unofficial recall my car went backwards into a building uncontrollably.

Pulled into driveway at home. the car had stopped, and i went to put it in park from drive. upon movement the shifter became stuck into reverse and on the dash, it read reverse, but the shifter was pushed up to the (p) park mark. the shifter would not move, and car started to roll backward. the brake pedal was stiff and would not move. i pulled the emergency brake. i later found out it was the shifting mechanism that had broke. the bushing that connects the shifting cable to the transmission brake.

Transmission popped out of park while being unattended and rolled backwards and struck a parked vehicle. the vehicle was in park when the driver exited the vehicle while working to photograph another vehicle for his job duties. while the driver was outside of the vehicle taking photos, the car popped out of gear and rolled backwards and struck a parked vehicle.

Vehicle was stopped and being placed into park from drive. upon movement the shifter became stuck in neutral. was able to move to move the shifter to park but vehicle screen read transmission in neutral. towed the vehicle to camelback ford and was advised the shifting mechanism had broken. the bushing that connects the shifting cable to the transmission had broken recall 18v471000. ford refused to replace as vin was not in the batch affected currently.

Engine loses engine power when driving. pressing the accelerator pedal does nothing. must coast or brake until the car stops. power steering, braking, and climate control systems remain functional; radio remains on; turn signals did not work. 'trans not in park' message appears on the display. event has occurred three times when driving at highway speeds. cruise control was on and set during at least two times out of the three events. car may be restarted after coming to a stop, shifting into park and turning key to off. appears to 'reset' to work correctly until the next unexpected event occurs. check engine light does not come on. chime occurs after the loss of engine power. the car does not shake during or before event. have not experienced any harsh or delayed shifting when starting from stop or after slowing and trying to accelerate. three identical instances have occurred since driving this car. in one of the three instances, the key was bumped with a knee. present milage is about 48000. car was obtained in 12/2016. local ford dealer states that there are no recalls or services outstanding for this vehicle; did not know of any reported problems like this. on may 15, 2018 wes myers at bob sight ford in lee's summit, missouri checked two other fusions and noted that this same problem will occur if the key is barely rotated back - not so much as to think it should turn off the engine. as such, he did not find anything 'wrong' since other vehicles exhibit the same problem; replacing the ignition switch with another that has the same problem would not provide a fix. also stated that unless the car was still under the bumper to bumper warranty, that ford would not take any action. the vehicle leasing company (enterprise) has not issued any notices stating this is a known issue with the vehicle. nhtsa 9/19/2016, blacklick, oh, is similar issue.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. the contact was not notified of nhtsa campaign numbers: 18v167000 (steering) and 18v471000 (power train) until after the vehicle was involved in a crash. the contact stated that there was a sudden loss of direction with the steering wheel while driving approximately 45 mph. as a result, the contact lost control and crashed into a tree. the front driver and passenger side air bags deployed; however, the driver sustained injuries to the face, left shoulder, and forehead. medical attention was required. the vehicle was towed to a yard and then to manheim baltimore-washington ford (7120 dorsey run rd, elkridge, md 21075, 1-(800) 533-2923) so it could be diagnosed by the insurance company or the manufacturer. the vehicle was extensively damaged. a police report was filed. the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

Car stopped accelerating in the middle of the highway, yellow wrench light came on and airbag light came on. the car started shaking and came to a complete stop. i barely made it to safety on the highway full of cars. i pulled over and turned it off because it wouldn't drive. i turned it back on and it drove fine. i have researched this and realized this has been happening to thousands of people who own 2016 fusions and yet there is no recall. i am terrified of driving it. it seems to be the throttle body that needs complete replacement but at expense of the owner despite thousands of cases. how can this be? please advise.

Shaking no power won't accelerate and jerking when backing up

Extremely hard shifts with hesitation just prior. ihave taken the vehicle in and have been told they cannot repeat the problem and the shifting is normal. (the mileage and date are approximate as the problem is ongoing)

This vehicle has had a dead battery 3 times after sitting overnight. no extra power draws we added. the last resulted with the engine light on once it was jump started. the engine code that was on was a p068a ecm/pcm power relay de-energized performance - too early. this vehicle has already been brought into the dealership where they performed a battery test and reprogrammed the modules. this was less than 1 month till it happened again

This vehicle has had a dead battery 2 times after sitting overnight. no extra power draws we added. the last resulted with the engine light on once it was jump started. the engine code that was on was a p068a ecm/pcm power relay de-energized performance. it will be scheduled to go to the dealership to try to resolve this issue

Harsh or delayed shifting when starting from a stopped position or after slowing in traffic and trying to accelerate. happens in drive and reverse. i bought the car new and has been happening since. only 1150 miles on car at this time. have taken to dealership several times with no resolution.

Similar to issues others were having with the throttle control placing the car into "limp" mode, it would appear that this is what happened yesterday as my wife was driving the car on a major highway near pittsburgh (376 west, near the split of 79 north/south) with me in the passenger seat, and three kids under the age of 9 in the back seat. without warning, the car seemingly shut off or "throttled down" and began to shimmy and shake, losing most of its functionality. we were forced to pull to the side of the road, which we barely did, with vehicles speeding past at 4 lane highway speeds. the following day, i contacted ford and explained the situation but was not told anything about this systemic issue. it was not until i discovered the issue on my own, that i learned about the fact that ford has not issued a recall for the electronic throttle body control but instead a "customer satisfaction program" which was not communicated to me, to the best of my knowledge, until after we nearly lost our lives and i had to have the car towed. this issue is going to get someone killed (if it has not already happened) and it would appear that ford fails to appreciate it. my vehicle has just over 18,000 miles on it. i own 2 ford vehicles but won't be buying another.

While driving today, i suddenly lost the ability to accelerate. the vehicle began to vibrate abnormally, and then the power went out. i began to smell smoke, and i almost hit the vehicle in front of me because i couldn't control my car! once i finally came to a stop, i was able to restart it and pull over to a safer area-- but the smoke remained. i believe the throttle body is malfunctioning, which is unacceptable on an almost-new car.

The etb (electronic throttle body) has failed twice. once causing complete mechanical failure, the other causing the vehicle to go into limp home mode. i've read thousands of similar reports about 2013-2016 fusions doing the same thing. this hasn't costed me any money but it's extremely dangerous, for the car wont move over 8 mph suddenly.

When i was leasing this vehicle the power steering system assault light started coming on then piwer steering stopped working and i had no power steering at all. my transmission also failed. ford dealer refused to fix it because i was over the lease mileage. i was sent home with the car without power steering and in need of transmission replacement. the mechanic told me to pay the 3.000 to fix it because i was risking my life. the manager said there was nothing he could do under the lease warranty. but it was a lease and i did not have the money for repairs. i later discovered 5 recalls for the car. i was only notified of two, steering and transmission. this was in the past few months when i no longer have the car. . accidents occurred before the steering completely failed. both involved the car moving without accelerating. it was on a town street at a light both times. i was behind another car both times as well. my car insurance has gone up because of these accidents and i have severe back pain from driving all those months with no power steering. but i had no choice as a single mother working many different locations requiring daily travel. also, i have to look back for the correct date of when i brought the car for service and was refused repairs by the ford dealership mechanic department where i leased it, even though the issues were car defects. therefore, i entered january of 2017, since it was either during 2016 or beginning of 2017 that these issues surfaced. also, one of these accidents where the car moved without accelerating did mot involve a police report, only the exchange of insurance information. the car speed is not saving in the box below. i was coming to a stop in one accident and was stopped completely during another. this is my best recall of the information.

4th time: engine misses, violent shaking like torque converter is connected, gas pedal not responsive, dash board lights up with a wrench. owners manual says go to dealer asap. been to dealer once, they said a transmission reprogramming was necessary. now it has happened again within 12 days of being "fixed". this is very dangerous when driving at highway speed, or any speed for that matter, and the car dies and shakes and jolts. this has happened at 25 mph and 50 mph. one time in heavy traffic on a hill and i couldn't get up the hill and just had to block traffic. help! if i can make it, back to the dealer tomorrow. *tr

The vehicle starts running rough, steering becomes loose, the wrench light comes on with the message 'check owners manual', then the engine stalls. this happens when the car is in motion. it has happened twice at low speed ~35 mph and once at high speed ~70 mph. we have had it in the ford dealer twice. the first time they said there was no code so they couldn't do anything. the second time they said they reprogrammed the pcm with a recall 16b32. i will drop it off this morning for the 3rd time.
