Problems with 2013 Ford Fusion FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2013 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 63 712 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2013 Ford Fusion

I try make this complaint twice now an gives a error this is serious my car is being stalled on highway due to purge valve an today the car is making a noise from the gas tank from what i'm told my car turned off because of this purge valve me an my kids could have been hurt i'm not the only one who thinks this should have been investigated along time ago people have made complaints online about the same issue i'm having !! i just replaced my fuel pump at delearship not long ago now this issue ! do have video of the car making this noise from gas tank an alsocar is releasing a strong fume smell

The steering wheel is getting stuck it feelslike which made me rin off road i also had to cut seat belt on back seat cause it wouldnt raise up. also fuel pump is going out and this is not right.

Code p0087 fuelrail/system pressure too low

I was in reverse pulling out of a parking spot i was in the middle of a roadway when my car would not move anymore. the gear shift had detached from the transmission. i was lucky there was a tow truck mechanic who was able to reconnect it and move my car to safety. it has done this a couple more times since but it is now no longer driveable. in regards to the fuel the car makes a rumbling noise from the gas line, and makes the car fill with the smell of fuel. when i put the gas nozzle into the car a bubble sound and air pierces out.

Recently, i have been having issues with my electrical system/acceleration. i have a hard time getting my max a/c light to stay on and sometimes my radio display is delayed of coming on. also, sometimes when i start my car, the dinging sounds distorted like my battery is about to die and i have a hard time starting the car. i started to think my battery was going bad but then one day i was driving down the road (in motion), my car was still running and no warning lights displayed, but i lost all acceleration. i had to limp my car to the nearest parking lot as i could not get any gas power. i turned my car off and immediately turned it back on and it worked just fine. then a couple weeks later it did the same thing. i again had to shut it off, restart, and it worked fine. i have not had that issue since then but it is still worrisome. luckily i was not put in danger especially since my 6 yo son was with me. i would hate to think of the outcome if this happened on the interstate or somewhere when i could not easily pull over to the side of the road. is there a recall on this?

After driving my vehicle and i got out, i smelled gasoline. i looked under the car and all around the engine compartment and could not see any leaks. i used a flashlight and a mirror but did not remove any panels. i thought maybe it was just fumes, but the gasoline smell was just as strong after i drove the car the next time. i took it to the dealership and was told that the under body fuel lines just forward of the fuel tank were rusted through and leaking. there is a retaining clip that secures the line and that is where the line was rusted. there was never evidence of a fuel leak other than the smell, because the splash guard that goes under the fuel line was preventing the leak from making it to the ground. i could not smell the gasoline while driving, only after exiting the car.

Initial ignition of the car results in engine stall out post abnormal ignition time. fusion will display "power run active" then "press brake to start". this will repeat after another ignition attempt and re-show the same messages on the dashboard. after a third ignition attempt the engine does not stall out. the problem is not a sudden onset but initial symptoms of the issue is that the car will stall out after 10 seconds of driving. initial re-ignition post stall results in normal function of the car without extra issue. however, this event becomes increasingly common over time until it simply stalls out immediately post ignition. despite multiple trips to a ford certified professional mechanic, no codes are given by the computer which renders diagnosis of the faulty part or cause of the issue near impossible. problem may present itself as faulty alternator, battery, or starter. however, even after replacement of any possibly faulty aforementioned parts the problem still persists.

Replacement of lug nuts after 60,000 miles. the lug nuts are known to wear out and then need replacement at a cost of @$150. makes no sense. i need to replace the fuel vapor separator (9d289). this will be the third one on this car at @ $400.

After i fill the gas tank and park my car in the garage, i can smell gas. after the car has been driven a few miles the smell goes away. the smell is only present right after i fill the tank up until the fuel level drops down from full. this only started about 2 months ago but has been present every time the tank has been filled since then. there was a recall for this problem (13s04) so i called my local ford dealer to try to get it fixed under the recall. the dealer told me that my vin number is not included in the recall. i am pretty sure this is the same issue that the recall was created to fix so i think that ford should re-look at what cars they are willing to repair. it seems to me that they easily could have overlooked some cars that had that problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the failure codes regarding evaporative system leak, power train (fuel and air metering) and power train (auxiliary emission control) were illuminated. the contact called an independent mechanic and notified them of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. a dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 77,000. *tr*jb

Lost complete power and control of car no acceleration when pressing gas in the middle of street car slows down without no warning after parking the car a wreck indicator flash. this is the 2nd time it's hit down on me i had it repaid last year and it's happening again my life is at risk with this car shutting off on its own it's not fair that i'm being held responsible to pay for this faulty death trap vehicle. i couldn't drive my car in the middle of the road

When in park or driving my door opens up. my door will not lock and it's not safe driving my vehicle . and it's airbag singal on the dashboard .

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. also, every time the vehicle was fueled, it would not start. the contact stated that the fuel pump was replaced two years ago by lenoir city ford (775 us-32, lenoir, tn 37771). the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or repaired again. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

After i drive the car, and turn it off, then come back 30-45 minutes later, and start the car up, the engine shuts off or i drive it 200ft., the car shakes violently, and then turns off. this has happened to me while parked and while moving in bumper to bumper traffic. this has happened multiple times over the last few months. the issue seems to only happen when the car is stationary or moving at low speeds.

Ford fusion 2013 while driving fuel gas cap will make a noise of air coming out, if it continues the car will turn off even when driving or stationary on both highway and street has happened more than 4 times ford agency said they will not fix it

Hello, on 03/14/2019 i chatted ford on my numerous recalls on my 2013 ford fusion. i was given case# (xxxxx) and told to take to a ford dealership for assessment on prior recall repairs. in 2017 we had a coolant recall and was told by dave littleton ford in smithville, mo. that we had anti-freeze all over our engine and they had to replace the whole engine. we never had any problems or signs that it had a coolant problem? we took in because we got the recall notice. my car has never ran right since. it idles fast etc. in december our flex plate cracked, now 3 months later it cracked again. our mechanic says the engine does not appear to have been lined up correctly with the transmission and we will continue to have issues because of the shotty mechanical work done by dave littleton ford. we have taken to gary crossley ford in kc, mo. they also agree there is shotty mechanical work done to the engine repair due to recall? we have been 2 weeks with no word on how this issue is going to be resolved and are without a car? i need some answers? the engine was not aligned correctly and sealant was put in places it should not have been when replaced. i am no mechanic but they have submitted in the claim they are sending in with greater detail candice says:the reason i am asking these questions is because we are not able to view claims entered by the dealer. i want to understand what it is that they were waiting for. so, they can complete the repair, they are just waiting for ford to say it can be done under the recall, is that correct? amy says: yes if i was not sold a car with a faulty part i would not have had coolant all over my engine to have to be replaced. if an appointed ford mechanic had correctly replaced engine i would not be in this situation? ford continues to close claims and ignore issues! case#(xxxxx) parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

My car shutters at an idol or slowly taking off where it shuts off.this has happened more then once and the scary thing is i've pulled out in a intersection and the car shuts off. i have to put it in park and restart it.it's happening more often now my engine light just came on after this happing for over a month now.

Smell of gasoline, both when in motion and stationary. gets worse when fill the tank with gas. the smell improves when i set the cabin air to recycle.

Tamara recall check engine light remains on and car shutters sporadically.

My car is around 86,000 miles and in the past month started to shut off after about a 30 minute drive. my fusion makes a sound distinctive sound before this happens, somewhat loud and goes in and out. engine completely seizes if i'm coming to a stop and i heard the sound. car also has trouble starting after refueling.

My car and alot of other cars from the ford fusion model hase a known issue also a recall of the fuel pump. error code p00c6. that makes the car stall out while driving. almost caused an accident. i also put the issue on youtube and meny other people are having the same issue. this is clearly a recall.

Car stalling out while driving when the car has plenty of fuel. no check engine light will go on then goes off but the same issue is happening. this is a known issue with this model also a recall was issues but looks loke they missed my car. car stalls out when im in traffic. really whenever it wants to

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while the vehicle was stationary, a strong odor of fuel was detected coming from the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to fairway ford (2323 laurens rd, greenville, sc 29607, (864) 242-5060) where it was diagnosed, but the contact was currently awaiting the test results. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000.

Car cuts off and will not start code reads fule rail

The idle of my engine is rough and when at a low idle in traffic it feels like it's going to stall. lately, my car completely stalled driving at low speed up a parking structure. it completely stalled again when pulling into my driveway. i took it in, but the mechanic couldn't find a sensor triggering the issue.

Tamara recall my ford fusion make a 'frat' noise/sound that comes from the gas tank. when the noise starts the engine will narely idle and sometimes dies. it doesn't matter if the vehicle is being driven down the road or just sitting idling. one time i was pulling out from a stop sign when this noise started and the car died with oncoming traffic coming right at me. other times it's just an annoyance an the engine runs fine. when i googled it i've noticed that several other ford fusions with the turbo engine have the same issue. this has been happening off and on again for a year and a half now. i have a link to a youtube video of another ford fusion with the turbo engine doing the same thing mine does. thank you for looking into this issue! https://youtu.be/ag4ssmgfsgg

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after it was fueled. the contact had to make several attempts to start the vehicle. also, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to echelon ford (4 s white horse pike, stratford, nj 8084, (888) 439-2609) where it was diagnosed that the valve in the fueling system needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the failure mileage was 93,448.

My vehicle has stalled while driving and is hard to start after fueling with gas. after taking it to ford for recalls in october of 2018 and brought the issue up and they wanted to charge me for diagnostic. after taking my car to my mechanic shop for oil change and to look into the issue of stalling, they made me aware of the purge balance needing replaced and that would solve the issue with the vehicle stalling. apparently, ford knew this defect since 2013 and paid for replacement if a complaint was filed. now into 2019, 93,000 miles and no warranty, ford doesn't want to assist in paying for the replacement. i don't feel i should be responsible for paying for the repair. it is very dangerous to have the car stall in the road and around busy traffic.

The ford focus was recalled for fuel injection issues but my fusion along with many other issues has the same issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while idling, the vehicle shook and did not accelerate while in the drive position. also, the engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to key scales ford (1719 citrus blvd, leesburg, fl 34748, (352-787-3511) where it was diagnosed that the fuel sensor, oil control intake and exit, and the pcv base needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

I have a 2013 ford fusion that i just had to replace the. take booster on, 8000 miles out of warranty...and now1 week later, my turbo has went out! gonna cost over $1000 to fix, not to mention the 400$ for the brake booster.. i have always been a ford fan! but this is definitely putting a bad taste in my mouth!!!!! i could understand if the car had a lot of miles on it.... but 68,0000 miles???? come on!!!!

It reads in the warning section i was over heating than the engine light came on. and it won't keep idle when i fill it up with gas i have to set for 10 to 15 mins before it will keep idle for me to drive it

My 2013 ford fusion dies after it warms up as i go into a intersection it dies have to restart it. could be very dangerous. almost scared to drive it. please look into this this thank you

My vehicle has been stalling out after fueling, as well as in heavy traffic, and at red lights. i took it to the shop, and the diagnostics indicating is was "low fuel pressure" reading, so they replaced the fuel pump. two days later, i filled up with gas and it stalled out while in motion at 40 miles an hour, and within 15 minutes, it stalled again at the red light. i can feel the car beginning to stall, so i put it in park, so i can give it gas... sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. there have been many instances where i'm in the intersection, at a median, or in the middle of heavy traffic when the car will stall out... this is very concerning, and dangerous... my life as well as others could be in danger due to a faulty system.

Engine stalls while driving with no warning may increase the risk of a crash. after it stalls you can put it in park, apply break and it will restart. this is not a good thing to happen on a highway. no fault code or service lights. it always does this after it has set for about an hour after running and then will stall about the time you get on the road. ( 200 feet )

Bad management valve part #dg9z90279d needs to be replaced. told it was on back order for the next 2-3 months. over 750 pending orders. this is a known problem with some vehicles being recalled for repair. this vehicle isn't on the recall list but in my opinion should be because of the safety concerns this has the potential for. this faulty valve is cause pressure to build up in the fuel tank that could possible cause an explosion or fire. waiting 2-3 months is not acceptable. also, no warning to myself was provided from the 2 dealerships that diagnosed my vehicle and that i talked to to get this part. i only found out by doing extensive research. problem still isn't fixed, waiting on parts.

I bought my fusion 6 months ago, and here lately i have been experiencing stalling issues. it tends to happen when the vehicle has been running for a while. i will sit in my daughter's school parking lot to wait for her to get out when all of a sudden the engine shudders and stalls. and other times it happens when driving in the parking lot at low speed, again it shudders and dies. we have changed a couple parts(high fuel pressure sensor, fuel sending unit, and the high pressure fuel pump) nothing seems to be helping the issue.

This 2013 ford fusion has begun randomly sputtering and then stalling when accelerating (the vehicle has 95,000 miles on it). you can put it in park and restart it just fine, but then may do it again in 30 second or never again the rest of the trip. it does not appear to be an issue if the car is cold or has been sitting a long time. it tends to appear once you stop for 10-20 minutes and get back in the vehicle - but even then, can be hit and miss. lately in this scenario it's been stalling 2 to 3 times before running fine. after doing some research, this appears to be a recognized ford issue with the throttle body. while ford appears to recognize this issue and has extended the warranty on some 2013 ford fusions (under customer satisfaction program 13n03), i called my local dealer and they indicated that my vehicle was not included in that program. the cost of the repair was quoted at $875 plus tax of which only $120 was labor - this makes the part $755. i can't believe that ford is not addressing this across the entire line. i have already been in multiple places where i have had traffic coming at me or behind me when the vehicle fails. in fact, the other day it died pulling out of a store in front of two oncoming lanes of traffic - fortunately both vehicles coming directly at my drivers side were able to get their vehicles stopped before t-boning me. please require ford to expand its program.

I own a 2013 ford fusion with 94,000 miles on it. i was driving to work on a one lane road and the gas pedal became unresponsive. there was no indication that anything was wrong prior to the loss of acceleration control. i had no control over acceleration/throttle; however, power remained on in the vehicle. the check engine light came on and then a wrench light that said check manual. i was traveling 65mph and had to pull over. i turned the car off and then on again and it started up. i had it towed to the nearest repair shop. the repair shop performed a fuel system service and cleared the check engine and check manual lights. four days later as i was driving to work it happened again. this time i had to pull over 3 times and once where i had to turn off the car and turn back on in the one lane road as there was no pull off area. after the last time i restarted the car, i had a reduced throttle but managed to make it about 2 miles to work (at this point the speed is reduced to 45mph). i had the car towed to the same repair shop. the repair shop had their master mechanic look at the vehicle when it was determined that the throttle body needed to be replaced. this has solved the problem. i did some research and found that ford issued a consumer satisfaction program 13n03. this was to include certain 2009 through 2013 model year fusion, milan, escape and mariner vehicles. i contacted ford and was told based on the vin number that my vehicle is not included in the consumer satisfaction program 13n03. my concern is that this vehicle had the exact same problem as those with the vins in the consumer satisfaction program. this could have resulted in an accident with no prior warning other than the sudden loss of acceleration/throttle.

My car has stalled on me many times while driving on flat road, down a hill and coming out of a parking lot, engine light is now on.

Car will stall when it is it is low rpm. it is more likely to stall after i have fueled up my car from it being low on calls. i can see the car shuddering and then drop the rpm very low. it has died when i have been in traffic before when i'm stopped at a light. it has died when i was leaving for work and backing out of my driveway. i noticed the issue of the car shuddering when i'm driving at low rpm and even when i'm coasting down a hill. i have went to the dealership several times for this issue and they have never eliminated the problem. it may have got a little better where it doesn't die as much but i definitely have to pay close attention when i just get fuel otherwise i'm afraid my call will stall at a stoplight. i called ford's customer service today to see if there was anything related to my issue as a recall but there was not. i asked the lady if she has heard of this issue and she said that it's a fairly common problem she hears about the fusion and other ford models "shuddering". most recently i have had my battery replaced. previously i had warranty work done in 2016 for the fuel pressure sensor to be replaced that cost $100 deducdible. neither of these repairs made any significant difference. i also experience that at low rpm there is hesitation when accelerating. there was other people i found online that have these issues and they suggested the "electronic throttle body" fixed their issue and they were covered by a extended warranty customer satisfaction program, but apparently my vin is not in that list.

I bought a 2013 fusion used last year i have had the car die going 70mph on the freeway several times and i have had the door fly open goinv 70 mph on the freeway and then wont close . last week my car wouldnt go under 80 mph white smoke barreling from the exaust with two days previous a low coolant warning coolant was added . car smelt like diesel fuel burning . went thru a tank of gas in 30 min and the car now sits at ford since the 5th of august waiting for tech to look at it. i already know its is a situation that ford needs to recall after reading all these complaint. i could have died and my kids im so upset

Car goes into limp mode and wont accelerate. sometimes cleared with engine restart. then it got worse and throttle would not accelerate engine at all. car was towed to ford dealership. bad throttle body diagnosed. over 800.00 to fix. i see a lot of complaints online about ford throttle bodies on fusions and many are warrantied under ford csp 13n03, but apparently my ford isn't covered. not sure why.

I went to a gas in town and filled up my car and only got 223 to a full tank and then it slowly creeped up as i was driving in town to 289. but i normally get 330-350 to a full tank. but when i first got it and the dealership filled it up, i got over 400 to a full tank.

Gas is leaking from the underside of the vehicle. first noticed a gas smell from the air vents so i initially thought a leaking injector, however when i looked under the car it was clearly leaking gas from somewhere. i did some minor research and saw that this year has several recalls for leaking fuel systems however i can't find a recall for this under this particular vin.

My vehichle has had the check engine light go on and off numerous times in the last six months, and smelled a funny smell coming through the vents. i get regular maintenance, have had the codes read as well as diagnostic test performed. the most i have been told is that there was a p144c code which is something to do with the fuel system wrong. now when driving the vehicle began to stall. i took my car in to ford they told me that i needed 3000 dollars in work done and have yet to address the 17s09 recall even upon my concerns. i was treated unfairly at my local ford and took my car to another shop. now am being told that my car has been overheating and that my cylinder head gasket needs replaced. i have been in contact with ford and they wont even help, until they send a letter to me next week. my car is already in the shop and the recall needs to be adressed. i need help.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling). the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. byerly ford (4041 dixie hwy, louisville, ky) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.

While driving at low speed (less than 10mph) the car begins to run very rough, rpm drops, and when pressing the accelerator, there is no power, and the car then dies. it can be restarted, but it's a bit harder than normal, and then it runs. twice happened in parking lots, but once pulling into traffic from a parking lot, nearly causing an accident. dealership has charged $190 only to tell me they can find nothing wrong. serious safety issue. ford case #cas11900027

On local road, vehichle hesitates when i step on the gas. when i get to a stop light it shudders then stalls. this occurs frequently for the past two weeks as of this entry date.my vehicle has under 53k miles and the dealer says the part and fix is not under warranty. its called a lo pressure gas sensor i believe. if its attached to the gas tank then how could it not be under warranty with under 60k miles standard coverage.is this standard for all dealerships with warranty coverage or lack there of for this part.

After turning on the ignition and starting to drive away, the car engine will sputter, acts like its starving for fuel, starts bucking and then shuts off. no codes or warning lights are displayed. this has happened in parking lots and on street parking. it is very dangerous and i almost got in an accident when attempting to pull into traffic from a parallel parking stall on the street. pressing on the accelerator has no affect. after restarting the engine, it runs fine until i turn off the car. then it is random if it will occur at the next engine start. after owning the car for 3.5 years, this just started happening last week. it has happened 8 times over the last 7 days. at first is only happened 1 a day, but recently it is happening multiple times a day.
