Stalling
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while attempting to make a left turn at a traffic light, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle coasted until the engine shut completely off without warning. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the dealer (autonation ford union city, 4355 jonesboro rd, union city, ga 30291) was contacted and stated that the vehicle was included in the extended coverage: 13n03 (throttle body) and they would repair the throttle body free of charge. the dealer was unable to provide the contact with a date on when they would be able to complete the repairs. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 122,000.
The engine stalled couple times under low speed in the parking lot. happens each time after engines starts for 5 to 10 min. stalls only under low speed. have no recalls. saw forums online that many people complaining about this issue when the vehicle hits around 5 years. one of them even got t boned in the parking lot. went to dealership to troubleshoot many times. as it turns out, like all the people in online forum, the low fuel pressure sensor was faulty. causing the engine computer to shut off the engine. changed the throttle body before finding the low fuel sensor issue. cost a lot of money to trouble shoot power train issue. not covered under warranty. very disappointed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while the vehicle was at a complete stop, it failed to accelerate. the contact was able to move the vehicle onto the road shoulder with the assistance of a police officer. the contact was able to drive the vehicle home. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the contact stated that the gear shift failed and did not engage into drive, park, reverse, or neutral. the contact also stated that both rear doors and the front passenger door failed to latch. also, the engine reserve hose failed and caused the engine to overheat. the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer who replaced the door latches and the engine hose. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v210000 (latches/locks/linkages) and nhtsa campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling). the manufacturer did not assist with the repairs. the gear shift was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
While driving on 95 north from us 100 to palm coast parkway i started to smell coolant in the car started to overheat. the engine shut off i put it in neutral and coast until he came to a stop. upon opening the hood i saw a 2 to 3 inch hole in the side of the hose going from the radiator to the engine.
Ford fusion recall - coolant leaks / engine overheating and fires i bought a 2013 ford fusion with 36,000 miles on it less than three months ago. this vehicle was included in the 2017 recall due to coolant leaks and engine overheating issues which have resulted in engine fires. the recall did not provide any repairs or replacements to the coolant system but instead installed a sensor intended to notify the driver when overheating was occurring and to shut down the car engine before a fire ignited. my car did get this sensor before i bought it and a pressure test was performed, however a coolant leak is still present and the vehicle did overheat to the point of engine and computer shut down. there is currently no long-term fix suggested by ford or the dealership for this issue. the existing recall does not protect the driver or car occupants of imminent danger from engine fires or from property damage.
Vehicle was apart one of many recalls, had fixed, same issues arised and had another recall, took back in and now ford is stating we need a new engine but wont be covered under the recall. the recall had issues with the engine and leaking into a colander which is the same issue we are having now, but they wont replace it unless we buy a whole new engine out of pocket. the only reason we knew of any recalls was because the first time my husbands car overheated, towed it to ford and the pulled up at least 6 or 7 recalls needing to be fixed. we were never notified of them all. we have had nothing but issues with the recalls and it all did a temporary fix that lead to more issues.
Tamara recall my ford fusion make a 'frat' noise/sound that comes from the gas tank. when the noise starts the engine will narely idle and sometimes dies. it doesn't matter if the vehicle is being driven down the road or just sitting idling. one time i was pulling out from a stop sign when this noise started and the car died with oncoming traffic coming right at me. other times it's just an annoyance an the engine runs fine. when i googled it i've noticed that several other ford fusions with the turbo engine have the same issue. this has been happening off and on again for a year and a half now. i have a link to a youtube video of another ford fusion with the turbo engine doing the same thing mine does. thank you for looking into this issue! https://youtu.be/ag4ssmgfsgg
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after it was fueled. the contact had to make several attempts to start the vehicle. also, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to echelon ford (4 s white horse pike, stratford, nj 8084, (888) 439-2609) where it was diagnosed that the valve in the fueling system needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the failure mileage was 93,448.
My wife was driving home in madison wisconsin in her 2013 ford fusion with the 1.6 l engine. the car had only been running for about five minutes when the engine coolant overtemp warning came on. she was already in the exit lane and pulled off the beltline and stopped at the base of the exit ramp at xxxxxxx tire and auto. she shut the car off and was getting out her cell phone to call me when a man pulled up alongside of her and told her 'lady you had better get out of your car because it is on fire.' the fire department station was only a block away and was immediately called while a couple of fire extinguishers from the tire and auto place were used on it. it did not help and the entire engine compartment including the hood, fenders, windshield and right front tire were completely burned up. a police and fire report was filled out. the car had a little over 75000 miles on it and had been regularly serviced. over a year ago the engine coolant bypass solenoid was replaced at the ford dealer in evansville wi. we never received word on the 2017 recall.
Car engine burned up out of nowhere

Car overheated while driving, towed car to kent parsons ford in martinsburg wv and they stated there is a cracked head but it isn't covered under recall 17s09
Our call had a recall , never got notice and the recall on this vehicle localized overheating my cylinder head to crack, result in fire in engine and this is what happened to our 2013 ford fusion
Runs rough; coolant detected in #3 cylinder; may have cracked head. if cracked head releases steam during operation, driver is driving blind. with no visibility. there were three recalls for this problem. ford denies responsibility, advises i buy new engine.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving various speeds, the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact also noticed that there was no antifreeze in the vehicle and no leaks. the contact called the dealer (crain ford of little rock, 4601 colonel glenn plaza dr, little rock, ar 72212, (501)-358-4231) to schedule a diagnostic appointment. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 71,000. *tt consumer stated coolant container has slow leak/crack. also, car would stall whenever engine gets hot. updated 11/28/18*jb
I was at a resteraunt drive through windo, placed my car in park. the car was in drive by the gear but the dash showed that it was still in park. the gear would move back and forth with ease but nothing was happening on dash the car even though i had placed it in drive it was obviously still in park. i could not move out of the drive through and it had to be shut down until i could get a tow. i had to take it to ford and they told me that i needed to replace the shift cable to the transmission. i did not have the money to fix this so i am driving my grandmothers car i heard of a recall for the same issues about a week later with 2013 ford fusions but the ford said my vin was not included. i feel this is a bigger issue than they thought and i am not happy and without a vehicle
Overheating of the engine cylinder head - cylinder head cracked causing oil leak and engine fire. ford refuses to repair under recall 17s09
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving various speeds, the vehicle shuddered and the check engine indicator illuminated. as a result, the vehicle stalled and shut off. the contact mentioned that the failure occurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to legacy ford (2906 island ave, la grande, or 97850, (541) 963-2161) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined because the warning indicator was not illuminated at the time. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 80,000. *tt*jb
A letter was mailed to me on april 2017 informing me of safety recall 17s09. we have been in contact with our local dealership to have this inspected and repaired when parts became available. the special order for parts was not placed until 7/3/18. they have not come in yet, per our local dealership, and i have documentation of all of this. on saturday 8/8/2018 the fire department was called to my residence to put out an engine compartment fire due to thisrecall issue. the engine started smoking as i pulled into my driveway with my 6 year old daughter in the car. no warning lights or engine overheating signals had alerted me. the fire escalated very quickly, and flames were seen coming drom under the hood and on the underside of the car. the vehicle is a total loss, and this has created a major financial hardship for our family.
My vehicle has stalled while driving and is hard to start after fueling with gas. after taking it to ford for recalls in october of 2018 and brought the issue up and they wanted to charge me for diagnostic. after taking my car to my mechanic shop for oil change and to look into the issue of stalling, they made me aware of the purge balance needing replaced and that would solve the issue with the vehicle stalling. apparently, ford knew this defect since 2013 and paid for replacement if a complaint was filed. now into 2019, 93,000 miles and no warranty, ford doesn't want to assist in paying for the replacement. i don't feel i should be responsible for paying for the repair. it is very dangerous to have the car stall in the road and around busy traffic.
Took car in for coolant system recall may 8 th , after recall was done the coolant light came on several times and had to add coolant to the system. july 10th car overheated and shut down towed the car to ford and they said they did not get all the air out the system and they calibrated the system and gave me the car back . then july 20 th the car did same thing said it was over heating and car shut down . had it towed back to ford again this time they said they could not find anything wrong with the car had it for 7 days . i was told to drive the car and if system shut down again to call their tow company . two days later the car was overheating not holding coolant and white smoke coming from exhaust. ford towed it to there store again and 4 days later called me and said that the head gaskets was blown and recommended a motor put in for 2,200 . i believe my problems was from the recall and something went wrong. but ford is saying they won't help me that the warranty is expired.
I drove from my house to the highway which is about 3.8 miles. i got on the highway and after a about a minute or two, i started hearing a weird faint noise. i looked around thinking it was maybe a car near me, and i saw smoke starting to come out from under the hood. thankfully the rest stop was less than hale a mile away. i got to the rest stop, parked the car and smoke started to come out from the under the dashboard. i had just filled the car with gas the night before, so i made sure to keep my distance while waiting for the fire department to arrive. the front of the car quickly went up in flames. the fire department arrived and put the fire out before the whole car disintegrated. there was no check engine light, no warning signs at all. i had taken the car to ford last october for a recall, which i thought was taken cared of. i had called ford, but they state the recall would not cause an engine fire, so they will not own up to it. i have always maintained my car, so there's no reason that i can think of that would make this happen. please help me, i know in my heart that this is something ford should take responsibility for. this could happen to someone else, who may end up getting injured severely from it. let's prevent this from happening
Poorly designed seal around back-up camera housing allows moisture into housing, sends faulty signal to engine when vehicle is started and shifted to reverse ultimately shutting down the engine. this does not happen 100% of time, but it is concerning. usually occurs during/after rain, snow, or high humidity days. this design flaw also disables the brakes, emergency brake, and power steering. vehicle does not turn on right away and starter continuously clicks until vehicle computer responds to start, key faub is the only way i have been able to start the vehicle after this event occurs. sometimes the computer gets so jammed up that i must completely disconnect the battery and hard restart the computer. when the issue occurs the vehicle cannot be stopped and will continuously move backwards until it stops on its own, it hits something, or the vehicle can be started again. this did happen to me while i was parked on a slight incline and my car stopped after it rolled in to a parked car, luckily no damage occured. as someone who used to be an airbag design engineer i definitely believe this to be a safety issue. a mechanic at the ford dealership i bought the vehicle from informed me that this issue is known to ford(he found the information on how to diagnose, repair, and what parts to buy in the repair database) and i called ford to confirm that they do know this issue. ford informed me that they do know of the issue, but it is not a safety concern. this issue costs over $800 to fix at a dealership. my extended warrenty won't cover the cost of the repair because it is considered "water damage"

Coolant recall 17v209000- states if the ford engine could crack and leak oil if overheated due to the engine being low in coolant. i took my car in to get repaired and 3 weeks later my car had these exact symptoms. ford is claiming the responsibility is not theirs. the crack in the cylinder head led to the engine becoming worn. so now a new engine is needed in a car 5 years old.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving 60 mph or more with the cruise control engaged, a wrench warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle lost power. the contact stated that the vehicle was serviced at an unknown local dealer per nhtsa campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling), but the failure persisted after the recall repair. the vehicle was not taken back to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
There is an open recall on the car's cooling system that can cause the car to over heat and catch fire, this is what happened. my daughter was at a friends house most of the night. she got into the car to come home. she got three to four miles or so out of town when it started to over heat. being that she just left she pulled over and turned around to go back. with in seconds of turning around the car's warning light came on and she pulled to the side of the road. being out in the country alone she called 911. 911 dispatch sent a officer and a tow truck to assist her. before the officer and the tow truck arrived her friend showed up. she called 911 and told them that help had arrived. they got into the truck to go get water and let the car cool down when out of now where there was an explosion and the car was fully engulfed in flames. this was just a few min after she had gotten out of the car to get into her friends truck. by this time a passer by stopped and saw the car on fire and called 911 again for help. the car is a total loss. thankfully my daughter was not hurt , however had help not arrived when it did she would have been killed. i called the ford customer service number the next day to file a complaint. they where very rude and didn't offer much help. he even asked me what i thought they should do about it. i told them since this was an open recall they should be held liable for the car. i was told they would have to get back with me. as of yet i have not received a call or letter from them. this is a very serious problem and any one with this type of car should stop driving it.
In moderate temperatures, ~40-60 degrees f, the engine will stall just after starting to drive. so in the spring and the fall. it does not occur in the winter or the summer. it usually occurs after the car has been warmed up and driven and then turned off for a while. for instance, if i drive out to lunch, stop and eat, and then start driving again. just after i start moving, say 100 ft., the engine starts running rough and nothing i do will stop it from dying. usually it starts right up and and then it never happens again that drive cycle. only once has it occurred twice in a row. no "check engine light" or codes. had it checked by a mechanic. they changed the fuel pressure regulator, but it did not fix the issue. started occurring in the spring of 2018.

On march 26th, 2018 at approximately 10:40pm my 2013 ford fusion (vin #[xxx]) caught fire underneath the engine compartment. this occurred after approximately a 5 minute drive. the car was parked for over 5 hours and on my ride home a light appeared on the dash showing coolant/engine overheating and smoke began to appear from the hood (this occurred as i entered onto the highway at approximately 60mph). i was able to exit the highway slowly and pull into a gas station. there the car continued to smoke and a person there pointed underneath the car where the fire was going. it took two fire extinguishers to put out the fire. i believe this is related to a recall 17s09. prior to the fire, i had taken the vehicle in twice to fix this issue. on 6/22/17 i took the vehicle into carmax to have the coolant temp sensor replaced after experiencing overheating problems. i then took the car into tuttle-click capistrano ford to have the coolant level sensor system installation work done per the recall on 7/7/17. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
My vehicle has begun to stall out. it can happen at any random time while driving, while stopped, or while pulling out into traffic. i had my car towed to the shop this week and of course they say they couldn't get it to duplicate the issue. they replaced the fuel pressure sensor and it did not fix the issue!! my check engine light randomly goes off and on but when plugged in it isn't pulling any codes. i have a son and i live in memphis, tn and this is very dangerous. it is not only putting my life in danger but also my son's life as well as other drivers. i am literally scared to drive anywhere with my son in the vehicle out of fear my car is going to die and i am going to end up in a horrible crash! i know i am not the only one dealing with this issue. i have seen tons more online complaining about the same issue! unhappy with ford and my vehicle at this point is an understatement. this needs to be fixed before someone ends up severely injured or dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was driving as usual. the car suddenly slowed down and the red warning sign came on and reads " engine coolant overtemperature ". at this point, the steering became difficult and the speed slowed to a crawl while we were in the middle of a highway. this put us ( my two children and i ) in so much danger! cars were honking and whizzing by us which scared my children. when we finally made it to the side of the road white smoke was coming out from under the hood. coincidentally, we just got a letter from ford that states a recall that described what happened to our car. safety recall notice 17s09 / nhtsa recall 17v-209
